  1. I wan't to see someone explain this to me. Explain how a person, who trades items for the sole purpose of making money is benifiting me, when their profit comes from me paying more for something than the merchant did. All profit made from merchanting is the result of price differences which means that merchants cost everyone else money. If all the merchants just left, we would see reductions in most items. And for once it would not be a market problem, it would be every item returning to the natural value. We don't need merchants, all items can be bought through the GE (with few exceptions) and to be frank, Jagex needs to get off there arses and figure out what these items trade for so they can stop junk trading.
  2. Happend to me before. I was home alone and a door blew open on the deck and a bat got inside. Now bear in mind I have a 3 floor house plus basement with the only doors being to seal off my room, the bathroom on the ground floor, the basement from the rest of the house, and the guest bedroom on the second floor (the one above ground for Europe) where my room is also located. The staircase has landing at each half floor and all except the one from ground to basement are completly open. There is also the living room which has a ceiling at the second floor, ringed by a walkway so there is plenty of ability for the bat to travel from 1st to 2nd floor. The 3rd floor has an incredibly high ceiling that is far to high to reach in many places. Now, I am not one to scream and run around until I hit a wall and knock myself out when I see a bat, but after trying to get it outside via broom and flashlight and having it fly into my face was enough to make me reconsider my tactics. This was war because it was midnight and I wanted to go to sleep, but I can't do that with a bat in the house and my parents will be home in an hour and they would appreciate the wildlife staying outside. So, I go down to the basement, and grab some equipment. For my face I have a mortocycle helmet. For a weapon, I get a freaking snowshoe because I cant find a tenis racet and a badminton one is to flimsy to knock the thing out. I also grab my dads 1,000,000 candel power flashlight. Lnow I know that the basement is clear, so I turn off all the light in the house. I had to check each room, after which I left the lights on to keep it bat free. After a couple sightings, and bad swings, I have the 2nd and 3rd floors clear. I have also retrived the portable spotlights that are like mini suns. There are 2 of them and I use them to create a wall of light to close off over half of the first floor to the bat. I am trying to get the thing to the back door. After getting the bat near the back door I move the spotlights in closer. I have one preventing escape and the other aimed at the back door so that when I open it I don't get anymore. I go into the den, where the backdoor is and use my big freaking flashlight to force the bat out of shadows and finaly coerce it to get outside by hitting it with an authentic wooden snowshoe that probably weighs around 10 lbs. To make certain I don't get any more guests while going in and out of the house I turn on all the external spotlights (we need them to light up the yard since we are in the country). I go deliver the bat into the trees behind the house then go back in and turn lights off before my neighbors wonder wtf I am doing. Congrats to silv for not taking on one bat, but 2! That was an awsome story silv, just thought people might appreciate my own as an addition.
  3. 100 to 200 should provide an adequete sample size. However, if you have the time then each test should be conducted 2 times more (each) and an average damage should be made. If you don't feel like averaging 100 numbers or even entering them all into a spred sheet, then I would suggest that you either a) record every otehr hit bringin the total to 50 B) record every fourth hit bringing the tatal to 25, or c) record every fith hit to make a total of 20. Naturaly higher is better buy since I am asking someone else to do work, inapropriate to request a full 100 number average for 6 100 shot trials. Based on current data, I assume you can still see strong difference between addy and BT, and you suggest that BT hit higher more often.
  4. What comes around goes around. Karma. [bleep] someone over now and watch someone else [bleep] you over later. When I was F2P, I used to help people with quests, but once I hit high 60's to 70-71 combat, people stopped asking (I never forve myself on anyone, but for some quests I would put myself in a likely place to get asked such as killing black knights in their fortress), probably because they now percieved he as a 'high level jackass', and I dont blame them. They probably asked people in the 70's for help before and were told to go [bleep] themselves and be nooby someplace else. Anywhoo, I would have looted a corpse pre gravestones. Heck, I still have several thousand fire runes from when I was f2p and before the RWT crusade. But, since looting is not an option anymore, I see no reason not to bless a grave (or repair since I lack the prayer to bless). Sure, some people will point out that yes, I would have looted that corpse if possible, but there are 2 things to consider. First, I gain nothing by not blessing, and losse only a few meger prayer points. If I am in a situation where I need prayer, I can garuntee that I have all the pots I will need, plus 1 or 2 more since I feel better safe than sorry is a good motto, so its not like I would be sacrificing a trip since something else is going to run out first anyways. Second, the circumstances have changed. As I said, I have nothing to lose or gain (accept gratitude and the nice feeling a normal human gets when they help another in need). Before, if I didn't loot a corpse someone else would (poor excuse I know  ). And actualy there were cases where I returned items (or most of them), though I never had teh fortune to find a 40m drop but I am sure I would grab all that I could. If it were a friend I would have returned the stuff, and so with friends I will gladly keep there items safe for as long as I am not endangering my own items, at wich point I will save my own [wagon]. I don not log into the game to help every person I find at my own expense, but neither do I log in to thwart them either. With some exceptions, I do not begrudge the occasional passerby a few minutes of my time or some advice/instruction. I am not some level gaining crazy hardcore dude. I don't even like training most skills for more than half hour to an hour (there are exceptions), and so even as a member, I like to help people to break up the monotoney of the day. Basicly, if at all possible, I will not take an action that I know would adversly affect another player (I am not saying I give up all the mining rocks but more thatI don't send them off to dangerous places). If not taling an action would adversly affect another player (ex. not blessing grave), then I will endevour to take that helping action if possibe and not tremendously inconvenient. If asked for advice, I will always give it, but I tend to be more stingy now when help reqires me to follow them around while gaining nothing. I will always try to render aid to people if possible and not horribly inconveniant. Sometimes I charge for services (such as the giving of food 97% of the time), sometimes I don't. I play for myself, but with consideration of other people.
  5. They did say something to the effect of drops depending on the 'dificulty of the fight'. Now maybe I am the only one with the immagination to think that this might not actualy mean just the difference in combat capability or even armour/weapon differences, but things such as how hard you opponent fights back, and how long it takes to kill them, and how valuble all their items were. I immagine that to get good rewards they need to be wearing expensive quality armour and weapon(s), and they need to fight back.
  6. If it takes you 3 minutes to change worlds I have to wonder how you can even play the game and I must say its no wonder you lagged out. Under the more resonable assumtion that it took no more than a minute to lag, I must sincerly suggest that you stick to the most basic math courses you can since being unable to handel a difference (subtraction) it honestly quite sad. Even if the timer was going to change to 12 minutes the second you logged out, you still should have been in the game before 13 minutes so I think we can safly say that eaither your computer/internet just sucks or your bad at math. Now if it took you say 1:10 to change worlds than I appologise, but I am not that inclined to belive you even if you do say that since I basicly just posted a way for you to make me say sorry and I feel you should have taken the initiative and posted an abnormal world change time ahead of time.
  7. Not really. Just buy like 60 days of membership with the card so you have plenty of time. To the OP, that sucks, and while it is only a dollar more per month, that does add up over time, even if not much.
  8. Drunk Shooting with high powered automatic rifles. Gymnastics with blindfold. Cycling on snow and ice or greesed pavement/asphalt. The rest of the ones on my list are already events...which I think should be removed because not every sport needs to be in the olympics (*cough* table tenis *cough*).
  9. People keep saying that Jagex can't see into the future of the game, that they will run the game into the ground. Jagex keeps proving these people wrong. Now I am suprised that they would do this rather than have just applied these rules to the wild rather than create all these minigames. I expect this was never part of the original plan, but Jagex has proven more than once that they do listen and do solve problems. This serves as a great reminder that just because Jagex may not achnoladge stuff for a long time, does not mean they are not working on it. Of couse, someday Jagex will learn that they can actualy save money by telling us that they are looking for solutions and and what not before they lose many members. That they have not told us about this before now would suggest to me that they actualy have not lost many memberships, at least not enough to make this sort of information public sooner. I think both sides are at fault for much of the complaining. The players have no patience and/or faith, and Jagex prefers to horde this sort of information (that could prevent people quitting) untill it is due to realease or it is an immenant crises.
  10. Under the assumption that groups of players are buying out certain items to raise the price than it would be safe to say that Jagex has/will intervene. They said that they would step in if there was price manipulation, well orgainising large groups of players to raise a price is price manipulation and so we can all assume that there will be intervention.
  11. The last level 3 clue I had involved 2 trips to the wild, killing 3 uris, and a sara mage in normal runescape in addition to an anagram and puzzle box. I seem to rember a rune helm and legs plus a few (like 20) runes and maybe ome firelighters. I was very PO'ed. That was the most painful clue ever, abnormaly long and I thought I was getting something decent for my time. I dont even get clue drops anymore :wall: Best I ever had was a sara d hide.

Soemones not going to like Diablo:3, or any other diablo game for that matter since all but 4 types of items degrade (rings, ammulets, throwing potions, and items with a zod rune/indestructable attribule). Also, they made it degrade because its good armour. It called a 'trade off' or 'give and take'. Itrs good armour so it needs a fault to balence it.
  13. It would not be at all impossible to change something such as a drop probibility using a set of 'if then' statements. If condition a = true then do x else do y Very simple and not in a language at all since I do not know the java syntax and it has been a while since I have worked in c or any other language. A very easy example of this in game for me would be if I, say, went to kill some level 21 zombies. Now my HP, def, att, and str are all 76. With a salve ammy and whip I can hit a 25 on a zombie. If I were to do this rigth now I can garunte that I would almost never get a hit over maybe 9. I might hit up to even 16 or 17, but even if this zombie had 70 HP, I would still doubt I would ever hit near my max more than once or twice every 10 zombies. Most games give xp based on your charecter level versus your opponents level. Runescape gives a steady xp based on damage inflicted. To prevent higher levels efectively training at weak monsters with high HP, I belive that you recive a damage penalty when you attack. Say you damage was the roll of a die. Another roll would be made with a range dependant on the level difference between you and your opponent. Whatever this second roll is, that value is subtracted from the damage you inflict. It could also be possible for drops that there is a bonus rather than penalty under certain circumstances such as first few kills or maybe after a certain number of continues kills or even based on how many pieces of food are left in your inventory. I have even noticed that the quality of some drops has a relation with how much damage the monsters are inflicting. An example of a bonus is the chance of getting a random event. I use this to force randoms so that I do not get one in the middel of a fight (that and one particular event is cconsistantly very profitable).

I have never let a dog sleep, or even be on my bed. I had a friend who let his dog under the covers and I found that to be disgusting when I was 8 years old. You might try scolding the dog to start with. It won't bother the dog (well, not for for any significant lenth of time), and if you don't tell the dog whats bad it will not figure it out on its own. Other than that, you could try not letting the dog on the bed. Other than that there is nothing you can do short if getting a rubber sheet to prevent any liquids reaching the mattress.
  15. I have had the EXACT same problem as you. It was my mouse, the left click was broken. I guess the things just wear out after a while. I replaced mine with a better mouse and I have never had the same problem since.

The scimmy is on the fast side of being halfway between dagger and 2h and the longsord is on the slow side. I would guess that the scimmy make around 7 hits for every 5 by a longsword but to be honest I am just pulling numbers out of thin air. There is definatly a noticble differance though if you see the weapons side by side while attacking. I would also point out that the rune longsword has no more that a 3 point advantage over the scimmy in any area (I think. There pretty close anyway), so whatever speed advantage the scimmy has almost certainly makes it the superior weapon (logicly and from personaly experiance). Scimmys is definatly a little faster, and the better weapon.
  17. If you have a weapon to train strenth that is better than a dragon scimmy (somthing comperable or better than a whip) then it is actualy faster to do each skill in rotation. The reson is that say you get 81 att, you will now hit more often while you get str and def to 81. The thing is that unless you are willing to spend big bucks, a dragon scimmy would be so much slower at gaining xp than the whip that any benifit or training by rotation would be lost (it would actualy be slower). Unless you are going to by some really expensive item, the whip is going to provide the fastest xp and using something else for strenth will only slow you down. It may take a really long time to get each level, but in the end I think thats about the fastest way to do it.
  18. The game may be about strategy (and a bit of luck), but the fundamental building block of any defense in fog is to spend the maximum amount of time collecting points, and even if you ar enever attacked, the maximum time you can be hunted is determined by your hitpoints. The game is quite balenced though, unless some over eager low level (under 30 I'd say) trys to play in which case, no its not balenced just like every other game. People work for their levels and the advantages that go with them, so naturaly even in a game devoted to the god of balence, levels will always give you an edge.
  19. I have setled for 20 chars of seemingly random numbers and letters. The uppercase and sybols can go...themselves. I can rember my pass because it is built out of tiny segments that mean something to me and only me. I have no meaningful segments with symbols and random caps would mean a shorter a password so I would have a hope in hell of actualy getting it right.
  20. I woudl not be suprised to find out that the greater mmorpg community regards RuneScape as the cespol of mmorpg's (community wise). I am also not supprised that Jagex is spending so much effort on making it easier to get into the game. Things have changed since RS was created and I am sure most people who have made an account never spent more than a week playing because, lets face it, if its your first time and your not a serious gamer, this game absolutly sucks to start out. I have been playing since the time you could transfer items from RSC to RS2 and I still wouldn't wan't to start another account somply because its boring as anything and people take one look at a single digit CB level and turn into a fountain of immature insults that make 'poopy facee' look like a serious inssult. The nice players have all become masters of blending in, and being ignored by those people who also post on the RSOF (which probably is the cespool of mmorpg players worldwide), or would if they were members. I don't train alot which is easy to see by looking at my stats and seeing that I have been playign for years (one year as a memeber). I don't train because it bores me so much. I slowly whitel away and do whatever takes my fancy. I have enough skills that I can do most things and still have fun doing it. The only thing I can't do is fight high level monsters which I quite honestly don't find very fun at all. If I wan't to kill hordes of monsters, i'd play D2:LoD, or fight other humans in a space ship in subspace/continuum or if I really want a challenge, I'll play netrek. I play RS because it's different and the tip.it forums are the primary reson I still enjoy the game since I have neither the time nor inclination to figure out everything anymore. I do most all quests without guides (sometimes I read the part about what to bring since I hate running around when I don't need to), but I will not risk my charecters life by not knowing what danger to expect. RuneScape reqires no skill in the sense that physical dexterity and reflexes mean nothing like they do in a pvp combat game such as subspace (which has been refered to as multiplayer asteroids on acid), or halo3 on xbox live. Heck, you don't even need to make much in the way of real time decisions like you would in an Age of Empires game when playign against other humans. There is some plannign involved in RuneScape but thats realy optional. RuneScape has its own charms, but the game reqires more determination and patience than skill. Its not a game where I could be in teh top 20 and be genuinly proud of myself. I respect the top players sure, but its not something I desire. I have no idea what other mmorpgs are like since I don't care to figure any out or pay for them. They can remain a mystery to me. If I want a true RPG, I have Baldurs Gate, BG2:SoA and BG2:ToB which are as far as I am concerned, some of the Best RPG's ever made.
  21. I think that in any situation other than pvp bandos is by far the worst since it has a spec thats about as useful as teh whips energy drain when fighting monsters. The Zammorak godsword's spec is just stupid unless your a warrior/mage or warrior/ranger hybrid since what good is freezing an enemy in place if you are still fighting in melee range? The Zammy GS, like bandos, has almost no advantage over the other GS's when not ina pvp situation (for zammy its really ristricted to CW). RuneScape players seem to have some facination with strenth, never mind sacrificing defense and sometimes attack to further you max damage. What good is being able to do tons of damage if you need to carry an inventory full of food everytime you level a city to avoid dieing? What good is being able to do tons of damage if you can't even score hits consitantly. Dharoks scores big damage all the time, the AGS only does it when it has enough energy. The SGS will allow you to stay longer and so you will dish out far more damage per trip than an AGS simply because you trip is much longer because of your healing. It also allows you to carry more pots in place of food. Perhaps if you are someplace close to a bank the AGS truly is better, but if you out in the absolute middel of nowhere and its a major jike to get back when you re-stock, that is when teh SGS is in its prime. Your money, spen it how you will. Someday the people flaming you will realise that the people who really 'waste' money are the people who buy rares. Ofcourse once you have the money to buy a rare, you probably have plenty of money to waste so it really wouldn't matter.
  22. Well if your driends said it took them up to 20 days, maybe you should wait 21 days to be sure it is not just very slow. I would guess that you mailed on a day that it just after the day your mail service sends mail to Britan. If thats the case (I have NO clue how the mail would work there), expect like an 11 day wait or something.
  23. As one of the TET pointed out (Barihawk), a crayfish IS a freshwater SHRIMP. So even though there different subspeciaes (lkike various breeds of dogs), Jagex actualy did not add a new fish to the game since there just the fresh and salt water varieties of the same thing. Shrimp.
  24. Life and all existance is "of serious size and scope" and is therfore serious by definition. I don't think the existance of everything is some sort of cosmic joke (by whatever be it God, Mother Nature, Some Higher being, etc.). I think that to live is serious and should be treated in such a way. Whether you belive in reincarnation or not, there is no 'absolute proof' that anyone will ever get another chance at life, a life after death, or any other form of existing. Infact, you can never know whenther anything exists. There is one phrase of absolute truth that you can be assured of: "I Exist". But does it matter? You real or not you interact with life, and it interacts with you (or so you belive). Make the best of it, have fun, be happy. Enjoy it while it lasts, maybe you will have life after death, but I have doubts that I will know about a previous life should that be the case. It's serious, but not in a 'you can't have fun' way.
  25. I think its 500xp 1k xp and 1.5k xp
