What sort of school do you go to? I thought you were in high school, but high schools around here can't kick you out for failing, at least not the public ones. The private ones usually don't, because its just another year of giving them money. I'm now guessing your in university. We have my brothers dog out at our place, looking after him while he and my sister in law are on vacation for their anniversary. We call him (their dog) the woolly bully because he and our older dog do NOT get along (woolly might make more sense if I take a picture of him. It's a Siberian husky). So during the day I have to look after our older dog, though she likes to spend the day inside our SUV. Put a towel up to block the sunside windows and she will stay inside of it for most of the day. She really loves being in vehicles even if they aren't moving. Makes the evenings more interesting though, since they have to be separated until its time to walk them (all three dogs walk together). Right now I have her up in my room waiting for walking time.
  2. I'm nervous, but I'll save my e-rage for when I know what it is for sure (unless its something cool, in which case I'll skip the raging).
  3. Teaser for new D&D -> Update to Solomon Store = Jagex Logic While I'm not going to get all fussy if we are going to a bi-weekly schedule, or if Jagex needs to just strait up skip a week every once in a while (or once a month like they used to), then that's cool. But maybe let us know rather than pretending to have an update when you really don't.

The nice people are the ones you need to watch out for when they are mad at you. Though my observations have been that most nice people will take a more subtle approach than driving like a lunatic. Noxx, where are you from? I actually thought you were from someplace in the Eurozone but I'm going to go with I was wrong. Oh, and I think I might have developed an allergy to mosquito bites (yay). I recently scratched at one hard enough to apparently remove the entire top layer of skin, and the next morning discovered it had transformed into that really deep red skin that is like a single layer from oozing blood (its wet, and sort of sticky, but its a clear liquid). So now there is a inch long by half inch wide section of missing at the top of my left ankle, and the skin is sort of tight which is limiting the mobility of that foot (it can rotate fully, but it hurts to compress or stretch the skin too far to quickly). There are also red dots above the toes where I was also scratching, basically to the point it looks like a rash (same thing as the ankle, just not as deep and only in little areas). Thinking I might need an oatmeal bath to see if that can do anything to help. Need to find another banadage and go to bed, since I can't leave the wound open during the night. Almost a pitty I didn't draw blood. At least then it would be able to scab, but without blood flow, few if any platelets are able to get to it, so I'm going to have to wait for the skin to totally reform itself naturally the way it normally grows. On the plus side, by the time this heals I wont be tanned any more, so the fresh pale skin wont stand out as much.

I always get a laugh when guys complain about minor speeding like that. Just hits me as odd. Around here, you pretty much have to do 5-10 over the limit to keep up with traffic during the day, and 10-15 over to keep up with people between midnight and 6am. 10 km/h being just a tad over 6mph. Pitty all the insecure people can't just live together, bragging to each other and whatnot. As one of those people who likes to keep to themselves a lot, I appreciate the quality in others. My two returning housmates are pretty much like living with ghosts. You can't tell if they are home or not unless you pass them in the hall, in which case you get a hello and keep on walking. I'm a bit more conversational, but I'm happy to live with people who only say more than a word to each other if you both end up standing in the kitchen together. I want 3 more just like them.
  6. Yep. If Jagex were really committed to removing gambling from RuneScape they would have done something about the methods of gambling, like they did with the horse and dice. They don't even have to remove the items from the game, just: 1.) Divide the mithril flowers into different seeds for different colors. 2.) Take the random draw items and just make them repeat in succession instead of randomly. Like the Classic Cape will always go bar - arrow - etc. I still blame Jagex for all of this. They know that the community is a pack of wild, mostly unintelligent, animals and yet they still threw the meat out (dice). Now they'll find anything and everything to gamble with. Remember this is the same community that wanted Durial unbanned, expected Jagex to not ban players for exploiting that penguin bug allowing people to get thousands of points, and regularly wonder why Jagex bans players for killing each other where they shouldn't be. On this front I sympathize with them, because there is nothing they can do now to stop gambling. At least, not without peeing in everybody's cornflakes. Even if by some miracle you took out every element from the game that could be used for gambling (which isn't possible, but lets pretend it is), we have already seen they have other ways. There are bots now that roll dice (because that's not hard to rig in your favor) for you in chat; basiclaly a RNG hooked up to a dictionary, and IRC gambling chats with much the same thing in them. They didn't see what a huge problem this would be, and didn't bring the wrath down as soon as this started, and now its a problem we are going to be stuck with forever. Unfortunately, there was no way of knowing it would ever get like this. Really, the only solution that would actually work, as has been said, is to get rid of free trade again (which I wouldn't mind, at least most of the time). Its a pain in the butt on some occasions, but I can't say it ever bothered me and my playstyle (though I fully accept that it hampers other, sometimes legitimate, people). You can't solve the problem, but you can make it very difficult to move the money around. Of course, last time they did away with free trade and brought it back we got gambling out of it, so I'm not sure I want to see what we get if they remove it a second time and inevitably relent on us again. Maybe someone will figure out a way to make slavery work or something. RS players are certainly a creative bunch.

Today my dad and I finished rebuilding the railing on the deck. Lattice with an 8 piece frame, was easier to take it out, paint a new lattice and new frame, and rebuild the whole thing than to repaint it. Lattice is a pain. Was actually pretty fun, we got a good system going. I cut all the pieces, and my dad put it all together.
  8. It's like waivers. You can't put anything in there you want and have it stand up in court. If they put in that for every rule violation you owe them 5 grand, and try to bring that before a court, you going to get laughed back to the bronze age. Thinking about it though, its illegal (at least most places) to profit off of the intellectual property of someone else. Since the game, all the accounts, and everything on the accounts are the property of Jagex, making a profit off of any of it (profit in real money that is) would be against the law in at least all the first world countries, since they would all honor Jagex's copyright. Not sure it would be worth suing these players, but they would probably have a case. And I could be wrong. I'm not a lawer or anything. Just seems like it would be illegal to profit off their intellectual property. And yeah, it is a PR stunt. Espeically in that they haven't given any evidence that their systems had anything to do with it. It's not a lot of players, so they could have simply just followed the money and built their own little internal paper case, then make this release to try and dissuade other people from trying the same thing (which hasn't worked out so well in the past). This is why I am waiting for the much larger list(s) that might demonstrate that they are banning more people than would be feasible to investigate entirely by hand.
  9. its not illegal. The most Jagex can do to gold selling sites is force them to remove rs or runescape from their names. Seems like it should be, both because your selling something that doesn't belong to you (you don't own your account), and because your profiting off someone elses intellectual property. Then again, they probably could have sued these players into oblivion if that would hold up in court (pity, because I would really love to see that happen). It's a nice start, and I really do hope this means their systems are actually working. Jagex have been far short of honest about their anti cheating systems in the past, so they are really going to need to do something to prove it, and banning a few high profile people who anyone could have guessed were RWT'ers is not that something. I'll wait for the bots to start visibly dieing off, and the post telling us about the hundreds or thousands of accounts banned for RWT. The high scores is nice. Would have been nice if they had mentioned they planned on bringing them back when they first removed them, and the fact that they didn't tells me this is a revision to that plan that came about after the removal. Jagex has been raking up a lot of resentment from their player base, and in the great scheme of things, highscores aren't going to be what get people to pay for membership, at least not compared to their other inititives, so I guess they now feel that its a sacrifice worth getting some good feelings back from their players. Also, they couldn't do it earlier, because it would have been obvious they were backpedaling in the face of player outrage, or at leats would have looked that way, and that's something they shouldn't do. It's sort of a reverse psycology catch 22 for the players. If they complain too much over certain issues, then Jagex can't back down until significant time passes, or they will encourage the players to go up in arms over everything. Still, its nice to see these kinds of announcements. Its not what I ultimately will want to see, but you have to get through this stuff before you get to the meaningful actions. As long as it doesn't stop at propoganda, and does move on to meaningful action, I'll be happy, and this kind of propoganda is a potential step in the right direction, and that's something worth celebrating.
  10. A couple point of interest about how moderation works on the RSOF for anyone interested. First, you don't get evidence and you don't get an appeal. Once in a blue moon the jmods will actually message someone, but fmods don't have this power, and they handle almost all of the frontline enforcement under the guidance of the gold team, and the gold team doesn't have the time, or desire (one or the other, maybe both) to tell people why action was taken. In most cases, there will be a lock or hide message in a previous thread where an fmod said what was going on, and then you do the same thing again and they ban you. Second, you don't want to post threads (or posts) in Recent Updates that don't belong there. Surely anyone who is an RSOF regular has by now noticed that Recent Updates suffers from a spamming problem, so it stands to reason that Jagex got tired of it, and have instructed their green team to clamp down on the threads and posts that don't belong there, and the people who post them. Thirdly, an fmod can't mute someone without a jmod reviewing it. So it stands to reason that if the bans are coming fast and furious, and this is a persistent behavior (which is it here. mutes have been coming fast for a while in RU), then what they are doing is by design and endorsed by those that set the guidelines to begin with.
  11. As point of general interest which has application to your life far beyond dating... Going outside of your comfort zone is a great thing to do every now and then. It helps you grow as a person, and find new things that you enjoy, and at least become more comfortable with things and situations that you don't enjoy (I don't think I know anyone who gets excited about public speaking, but the more you do it the more bearable it can become). My impression so far is that you are not lacking in general social skills, particularly in the talking to people you don't know category, so I doubt you would have much trouble figuring yourself out. You might be getting more attention than you want (or you might find yourself getting less than you expect), and that's all part of the life experience.

Guys. This is a BF vs COD thread. Not the FPS shooters vs fighting games thread, so at least keep it to shooter games.
  13. I don't feel like gold is three times as impressive as bronze myself. Honestly, if I had to give them point values, then using bronze as 1, I'd give silver one as well, or maybe 1.2, and gold 1.4 or 1.5
  14. It's one of those really awesome ideas (on paper or in someones head) that just dosen't survive that trip to becoming a reality. The worst part is, the person who thought it up is probably not the one who got to implement it, so they get to see their content fall short of what they thought it would be. What might have made this great was rather than making on great big super sized avatar, allow everyone in the clan to summon a mini version that would be useful for their day to day lives, especially in skilling and pvm. This would be a reward for being part of a clan, and better clans get better avatars, so there is some incentive to not ditch it. Then also have the great big version that the leaders can bring out that can help out with some group skilling, pvming, or a nice big pvp war. I think they did the big one to try and encourage group activity, but that is really up to the clan. All they need is a tool they can use as an incentive. I think if they had done mini ones with weaker bonuses (or rather, make the bigger one have stronger buffs) geared to some individual play, they would have been an incentive for people to work on the citidel. Now, not sure how all that would work with summoning, since it would sort of be replacing it, but yeah. I see so much potential for this, so many ways this could have gone down, and they did not choose one of the paths to awesome content. Clan content is hard enough to try and keep alive, and this makes no effort to be really useful long term from what I have seen. It's simply afraid to be game changing, but without having game changing effects, it will never be more than another pretty thing that isn't worth the time, and wont bring people together, because why bother.
  15. During the Winter Olympics the Americans used the total medal count while the Canadians used the gold count. It really is whatever makes your country look better. I totally never noticed that we do this
  16. I'm confused (again). Girl number one is the one you met at the bar before you went away and girl number two is the one you met (at the bar assume) upon your return. And the first girl was french or is that girl number 2? And which one is claire? And I thought you were still sort of in a situation where you could be in a relationship with either? So pick the one who you feel is right for you, or your going to be beating yourself up over this forever.
  17. The IOC has adamantly refused to endorse any ranking system, since in their opinion, that's not the point and they don't want to encourage it. At least that's the case to the best of my knowledge. This would be how you have an entire country that ranks itself and everyone else differently. I doubt we are the only country that uses total count for the rankings.
  18. MageUK made up a new piece of code for the forums so that rather than having the large threads load in 40-50 seconds, they load in about 1 second. Something about MySQL getting tied up every time someone loaded a large thread, which is all the time, and it making the forums slower for everyone. Needless to say, Mage is a wizard and we are lucky to have him  (this is why the forums were offline for a little bit yesterday, for anyone who noticed)

Don't get too complacent on the theft issue though. I know here we have had problems when people leave their laptops or phones or whatnot lying around in public areas, only to find they have vanished upon their return. Most of the people who are criminally inclined aren't going to be at University with you, but don't create potential crimes of opportunity. I know I also had the pleasure of having a kleptomaniac come into my place more than once because he was friends with a couple of the people I was living with. I think I might have been the only one he never stole from, possibly because he was never in my room. The one thing that is stolen all the time at University is food/drinks. It happens in our house on accident, though we all claim our food with our name in marker to prevent it. But beer is probably the worst. People help themselves to other peoples beer constantly. Some people are cool with it, because they are doing it to each other and it all balances out, and some people get angry. I keep all my booze in my sanctuary (room), in my big ass mini fridge with the rest of my more valuable food. Of course, no one else lives in my room, so it's quite safe there.

I assume you have a computer. I would like to point out that your monitor can function as a TV (with the right adapter), and your PC can function as a SNES if you want it to. Today I mowed the concrete tile dog kennel, because this is a problem we have no matter how stupid it may be. Apparently we aren't going to salt it because that would be bad for the dogs paws (which I feel could be solved with a light watering once I'm done, but whatever). Today I got an idea that if you build stuff like that on top of a bunch of lime stone, it should make the soil so basic that nothing will grow for at least a few years until the acid rain can even it out. Also working on the lawn tractor. Something has gone wrong with either the brake sensor or brake lever, and it will no longer keep the engine running if you get off with the parking break on. This is surprisingly annoying.
  21. Giving your wheels a bit of a camber angle can be used to increase lateral performance (turning) at the cost of much increased tire wear. However, if you take it too far you'll just incinerate the tires and reduce performance at the same time.
  22. Countries will gravitate towards whatever system favors them I suspect, since there is no official format, and probably never will be. It's not something I worry about though. As far as I'm concerned, being in the top three is more than astonishingly impressive, though I might be convinced to do a gold is double points and have silver and bronze be the same. Quite frankly, just being at the Olympics means your a phenomenal athlete already. I just don't care to get really into the competition.I just enjoy watching the worlds best go head to head. On a side note, I didn't get to see any fencing except two short replays. Our country never covered it, even in the women's pentathlon where we had two athletes.
  23. Quite pleased with the closing ceremony. Everyone likes a good concert, even if the beginning was a bit confusing and the ending was a bit drawn out. Also, I feel like Russia should be in third. I am used to seeing the ranking done by medal count first, then by gold for tie breakers (and silver/bronze if needed). Or maybe that's a Canadian thing since our favourite place to finish in average seems to be fourth, so we end up bronze heavy and would rather not be placed on the bottom (we are like 13th now by total count).
  24. One of my observations of people (including myself), is that precious few of us are as 'obvious' as we think we are. Especially if your not in a context that clarifies your intentions (a bar comes to mind, though that says more one night stand, at least to me). You'll save a lot of time and effort by upgrading from whatever you think passes for a strong hint (unless your idea of a strong hint is wearing a billboard sign), and instead try being direct. Ask her out on a date, and make it clear that this is what you are doing. When you do this is up to you, though waiting probably wont help you nearly as much as you think it will, and if you wait long enough someone will beat you to the punch.
  25. I'll support this if you support me in my belief that we should be able to run down jaywalkers (at least the ones who saunter and force you to slow down/stop).
