Today...
Good habit to kick as that's one a lot of people notice. Actually, hands in general are something worth taking care of for most walks of life, since they seem to be something people tend to pick up on when you chew on your nails, or don't keep them clean or short. Went to the beach today. Was nice, though the waves weren't overly spectacular. Water could be warmer too, even though it's already warmer than normal.

Kiva Loans
I do believe I have heard of the concept before under the name 'micro loans', where the idea is that small loans in poorer areas of the world basically get money moving, and new businesses can draw more money into the local economy, and the 98% payback rate does sound about right. It's a very neat concept, and it does seem to work quite well.

Steam Summer Sale.
I picked up both of the L4D games because the tip.it staff are good sales people, and because I could use another game with zombies to hold me until deadspace 3 comes out next year. Tomorrow, the undead will die. Again. And this might join the very short list of games I actually enjoy playing in multiplayer, with Goldeneye Source (a totally free multiplayer remake of N64's Goldeneye that will hopefully one day also have a single player campaign), and GTA IV which I have yet to play in multiplayer, but want to.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Looks like you got over your nervousness. Questions are always a good sign, they mean someone is either rediculously polite, or actually interested. And your talking about your interesting stories reminds me of this:

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
There is a very very large difference between a guy who has a lot of options, and a guy who actively dates multiple girls at the same time. That latter is only going to work if your not after a specific person, both because for all the doors it opens, it also closes a lot of them, and because if he dates other girls to go after one in particular, that's just wrong (that's called using people). For someone who does have many potential options, you might also consider that you might have cause and effect backwards. While having many options is certainly an advantage in acquiring more options, you need a certain appeal to get in that position to begin with. Noxx, your nervous, it's going to happen. My first question would be how much dating experience does she have? Things just work better when both parties have similar experience levels, though if the more experienced person understands what is going on, its not normally too bad. Especially since your male, the pressure is on you to take charge of the whole dating thing. So I have one, well two I guess, pieces of advice for you: The first is chill out and take a breather. To help you with that, here is my second piece of advice. Always have a plan. By this I mean that when your date ends, there should be a plan either for your next date, or when you are going to call her (or she is going to call you) to arrange the next date. You always know when the next 'event' is going to be. I find this takes so much stress off, because you never have to wonder about when you should call, or when is he going to call (except maybe what time of day), and you know they still like you because they keep arranging dates with you. If a problem crops up, it's going to be really obvious. So, have a plan, and don't over think things. The first will get you to the point where you stop thinking so hard, if nothing else. You've been on dates, I doubt it will take you very many to reach the point where you calm down.

200 Million Accounts! Thank you!
Remember, bots can stay online for 24h/day  I am having trouble believeing that too now that I have done the math. That would be 347,222 dragons killer per second, or a bit over 2000 dragons killer per second on each world, which isn't possible because there aren't that many dragons, or people to slay them, on a world. Unless I did the math wrong, which I might have. Not a good time of day for me and numbers, so I'll look at my math again later.

Today...
Fun day, if a bit slow. I was using the ride on to trim some grass and other plantlufe around the property, and took it too far down a slope and it got stuck. There was a mound in front it couldn;t climb, and the tires might as well be made of Teflon when in reverse. So my parents came home to me having the SUV parked on the lawn beside the loop in our driveway, with a winch running from the truck's hitch to the tractors pulling it back up onto the driveway. They got a good laugh out of that. And next time I will remember that we have that winch, since this is the third time I've gotten it stuck this year, and it probably wont be the last. The only place it won't work is the septic field, since the SUV weighs too much to drive there (it will crush the underground pipes), but we have an incinerator I can anchor the winch too there if I get it stuck while alone again (if someone else is around, all it ever needs is someone to drive and someone to push, to make the up the loss of traction). We took one of our dogs for a swim that works out to nearly a kilometer long, but our other dog is too old to swimm that even with a dog life jacket (she is 14), so we decided to stick her in one of the kayaks and tow her, and she seems to have enjoyed that. It also worked nice for me since I get tired of wearing the flipper (or rather, my feet get sore and tense after about half the swim), so I had someplace to stash them when I wasn't wearing them, rather than trying to drag them around with me. And lastly, we have a couple of local pheasant families in the neighborhood, and as I was walking back up from the lake I saw what I thought was a sparrow hopping around, and I guess was one of the babies. It darted into the woods and then momma flew out of the trees right next to me. Thankfully she spared me the rusty doorhinge honking that they normally perform, I guess I wasn't being too big of a threat. I always knew that would happen one day (that I would get too close to them on accident and scare them). Tylerelyt, that's no fun. I hope you manage to find someway to see your friends before summer is over though.

200 Million Accounts! Thank you!
The large numbers actually bummed me out. I was looking forward to some sort of epic battle where 50 people would need to put some time into taking the monster down. And they still could have given us extra large numbers and made that happen. Instead it's like a 10 second kill, which seems very anti-climactic to me. The bow does look cool though, if a bit over the top, so I hope we get to keep it. The glasses could use an emote if Jagex has some spare time too.

Steam Summer Sale.
Well, I need to stop or I will actually be using my credit card as a loaning device, which I would rather avoid. Steam also seems to be pretty slow to charge me, since I thought my bank could normally get it up next day. Once the charges come in, I will owe more than I have, though I have more than enough coming in tomorrow to keep me covered. I almost bought sims 4 and that train simulator, but I think I need to face reality and consider that I already have so many games I regularly forget that several of them exist. I shall keep watching this though, waiting for that game I didn't know I couldn't live without

When I worked retail, I was sort of amazed at how many hundreds I would get over the course of the day (and sometimes fifties, but normally more of the hundreds). Most of it was people who were probably paid in cash, since we dealt with a lot of contractors, and most of the time it worked since these people are buying hundreds of dollars of stuff at a time anyway. I did however get to make change using a fifty at least once (in addition to the times when I could have, except I didn't have any fifties on hand). You find small things to amuse you working cash, and making change with a fifty is one of them. We also had one person on staff who would bring in quarters, and then sometimes come out into the store and trade them for the special ones we would accumulate. Think she had a nice little collection going. Really hoping for some rain. This province is about ready to burst into flames anytime now, with a provincial ban on all open air fires regardless of how many permits you might have. Thay are saying they want 3 days of 20-30mm rain in a row before the ban is listed. We are currently at a mind blowing 3.5% of our average rainfall amounts for July. Normally it's our wet and miserable month, and this year it's just August in July.

Okay, I have to admit that zombie driver is a bit tempting, though I think that GTA already fills the 'drive like an [wagon] and run over people' niche in my life. I also thought about avadon (because I can buy the package, I just needed to get to it from one of the games it contains), but I have all 4 of the baulur's gate games (and am waiting for the remake of the first set, and maybe a BG3 someday), so I don't really need more D&D in my life. I think today is a pass, and my wallet thanks me.

Dragon hatche
I believe the dragon hatchet was said to be 15% faster than rune when it was released (by Jagex), though I might be confusing it with a pick. I used to have the numbers for picks too, as measured at rune essance. I do remember that the rune pick was ~ twice as fast as bronze though, assuming that the ess mine rate translates directly to all other mining, which it might not. The dragon hatchet though is certainly worth the investment though.

10 Year Veteran Cape + Solomon's Store, 17th July
Not necessarily, your logic is too straightforward. Sometimes you can make much more money by pricing things lower and selling them in much larger quantities, companies like walmart operate using this strategy very successfully. Not to mention that being a virtual item, the production cost is 0. How many more people would buy the assassin outfit were it priced more reasonably? 5x, 10x? I actually think that Jagex is losing money by pricing it so high. Although apart from the assassin outfit, the other items seem to be correctly priced. For sure it's possible that they could make more money going lower, but I have two thoughts here. The first is that they do have an awful lot of data from both the loyalty shop and the SoF. The loyalty shop gives them a bit of a feel for what people will pay for certain things, by observing what people go for. The SoF gives them a lot of insight into how much money people are willing to part with. In the long term, pricing higher gives them a couple options that they wouldn't have otherwise. First, you price high to take all the big money from the people willing to pay for it, and then you go after everyone else with sales, or even a global reduction in prices. So I expect that when the next round of stuff for the store comes out, a lot of the old stuff will go on sale that puts the prices in a much more reasonable range, which is the same thing we've been seeing with the loyalty programme. By getting money from the wealthier players who are willing to pay for the change to get stuff first, then knocking down the prices to make it more accessible to everyone else, you stand to make more money than you can get by going low first. There are also advantages to pricing too high for the sole purpose of putting on a sale later, in that a sale looks like a better bargain to us. Jewlery stores are famous for this, often pricing things a several times the price their stuff is worth, and putting on huge sales that make you feel like your robbing the seller blind (when they are actually still basically committing highway robbery against you).

Steam Summer Sale.
Nothing exciting today for me, except sins of a solar empire, but I looked at that before and it's too much. I want cheaper games for my sale, especially seeing how fast the prices are racking up on my very low summer income right now. Also, there is one game that is not available in my region :? I'm not sure what game is not available in Canada, but I'd love to know. So here is the list of all the ones I can see today, and maybe someone else can tell me which one I'm missing: Total War Mega Pack Age of Empires Online Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion L.A.Noire Super Meat Boy Stalker Call of Pripyat Carpe Fulgur Series Theif Dealy Shadows

Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
I made it a whole 1:19 seconds into the first episode on youtube before I wanted to shoot someone (specifically whoever thought up that show). The only thing more baffling than the fact that show actually got aired is that the existence of more than one episode means someone actually watched it. Seriously? There are people who can watch that? I seriously hope that at no point in my life would I have ever found that show amusing. To preserve my sense of self worth I'm just going to go with 'no, I would have never enjoyed that'.

10 Year Veteran Cape + Solomon's Store, 17th July
I suspect Jagex is fighting very hard to keep things that give an advantage out of the Soloman store, off the SoF, and out of the game in general (though obviously some of the SoF rewards do have an impact). Something that get's lost in all the hurt and dismay, is that many of the staff would seem to be on our side. Jagex are between a rock and a hard place, since they don't have majority control of themselves. We already saw it in the EoC diaries, where they are fighting to keep as much of this bull out of the game as possible, for as long as possible. I suspect they are doing this by convincing their board that doing so would cause the game to die faster, and they can get more money by sticking to the cosmetics and minor advantages over the long haul. So after thinking about it for a bit, yes the Soloman store is ridiculously expensive compared to membership, or reality. But people are using it, and I imagine the egg heads at Jagex figured that the prices they set were low enough that they can get considerable money out of this. While it might be nice to see things be more affordable, we might have to trust that they did price it right, and this will make them lots of money. Unfortunately, not seeing high powered weapons and armour showing up in that shop probably hinges on how much money they can make off the cosmetic stuff, so we should all be hoping that as many people as possible blow as much money as they can on it. It is the lesser of two evils, and if it can't deliver, I'm sure we will start seeing real advantages for people that are willing to pay. That will probably be inevetible. The game will really start decline sooner or later, and they will milk it like we haven't seen yet when that happens. They are holding it in reserve for now. So I guess I am happy to see the shop. Even though it seems like the prelude to something much worse, right now it is hope that Jagex can keep their investors in check. Unfortunately, I also feel that loyalty points might have taken one for the team. We might see another update there, but I doubt we will see more cosmetic geared stuff, at least nothing beyond the minor.

As cool as it would be to work in a server, I don't think I could put up with the gathering of materials, not for my largest scale projects (like that island). I also consume a lot of redstone for some of my stuff, and a mine doesn't pull enough of it out. For my smaller scale projects it can be a blast, but not when I am in the many thousands of specific materials. Right now I am building my mansion, which will fill up a nice portion of the village, and then I can slap some more huts up, and figure out how to make a farm and get that going too. After that I need to make the harbour, which will require some reworking a section of wall to accommodate a gate. Also having an idea for a water canal under the island, and add a secret harbour for the castle which currently lacks a basement. That could be neat if I have the patience to craft it. Also might have to wall up some of the caverns that are under the island, I think one of them will be in the way.

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
I just have to say, I own a BGS. I think that means that in the end, I win :D An offhand whip isn't too terrible a compensating I think. Don't get me wrong, I would take it's old spec over a second whip any day of the week, especially when I can get an offhand of literally anything else, but it's not too bad imo.

AoE 2 Kings and Conquorers together is worth $10 I'd say. I have both, and they are my favourite RTS games after Red Alert 2. I also have AoE 3, and I do not like it nearly as much as it's predecessors. It's not like the jump from AoE 1 to 2, it's a fairly different game, and people who have not played its predecessors will probably enjoy it more. Got the portal games last night (don't know if I said it, or just thought it a lot). Good games, though not very long. Together I think I will have my moneys worth though. I am also going to get episodes from liberty city, to get the lost and the dammed which I don't have. Cheaper than going through the microsoft store and their stupid points shop that coincidently only lets you buy denominations that don't match any of their prices (so that you have to overpay). After that, I might keep an eye out for some more smaller games. I have decided to not get hitman. I have other games I am sure I would rather spend money on. Been looking at the Esther game, and it looks neat, but I guess it's also more of an interactive movie, and I already have Myst for exploring breath taking worlds (except the fourth one, because Myst isn't on steam :(). I'd get the whole gta pack but I don't think my computer will even run the 3rd one. I know my computer has a lot of trouble making vice city (which I got through steam) work, which is even more recent, so not something I want to risk money on, even if its only another $5 to get them all. Besides, I know its a rose tinted glasses situation, which is what I realized playing VC on my laptop (vista runs it better than win 7). Even SA has a lot of things that bug me now after playing IV, and I would rather leave III intact as the epic game it was, without ruinging it with the inevitable compairison to the latest games. It shall be imortalized as and awesome game with an awesome map, where by the time you were halfway through the game you couldn't explore half the places anymore without getting shot at  Also, there were entire guides dedicated to getting that stupid plane off the ground. Good times.

Who built the walls? Not a bad set, and they are fairly large. I think I might put my creative world on hold, and get back to building my castle island. Also, I did make progress on the island since I last posted any pictures of it. The castle still needs a proper interior, I scraped the maze idea, though it does have a throne room. I might consider adding a second floor for part of it and building myself another one of my fortresses, because all of my structures either are fortresses, or contain fortresses. Sort of my thing.

Today...
Your what? And I think I might try to build my parents house, and maybe mine as well, in my caslte village. Or at least, something inspired by them. Solves the whole floor plan issue. Today I releared that sea-doos reserve the bottom quarter of their tank, and you have to flip a switch to use it. That's why ours broke down over the weekend, it couldn't get any gas. Though it does have some issue where it is draining its battery. We have a spare, so I might start swapping them every 3 days so that I know it will have enough power to start several times. Once it's running it should be fine, but starting does use a lot of power, and it gets harder and harder to get it going every day. When I ran out of gas, it probably could have gotten going again, but I can't say for sure it would have had enough power to re-prime the engine and still be able to start or not, since it's a few second to prime, and then two more starts before it will go. So I still want to see it brought out of the water and replaced by one of its older sisters.
