I'm not sure why you would need a shoulder check at all to drive around parked cars... Around here, you just drive right up to the line and keep on moving, and make sure any opposing traffic has noticed your situation and gives you some space (and if they don't, then obviously you wait for them to pass). Anyway, for tests humor them and do it the way they want to, and if you actually can't see out of your left side windows with a left shoulder check (rear doesn't matter, generally only vans and suv's can see didly squat backwards this way) then I hope this isn't the car you normally drive, because that's kind of dangerous during left lane changes. And I don't think I have ever enjoyed being a moderate climate more than I have this year. It gets cold, but not too cold. It's normally not too hard to dress for the weather and not freeze. It also doesn't get to warm, nothing taking your shirt off wont solve when doing some yard work or whatever. Mostly we just have very consistent breezes and some rain.
  2. You know what, you sort of do

In what way is your city Anarchy? In the past month alone I've seen ~5 civilian vs cop fights (either student protesters or drunk), around the same number of bar fights (including a stabbing), drunk people vs street cleaning struck fights (these are the best), bus driver vs hobo fights.. thats the fights. I was in a bar when a bomb threat was called (twice), ~40 police showed up with paramedics and bomb dudes but nobody cared, we just kept drinking. My friend offered a hot woman cop a drink to lighten the mood. I got my life threatened by old Irish gangsters (same bar, actually). The sheer number of people out on the streets half naked after last call during F-1 weekend (half naked people being imported prostitutes) and the police force required to calm them down. The sheer number of people out on the streets after last call the following weekend, when everyone realized how fun partying on St-Laurent street is. And not two shits was given by anyone! Blah, doesn't sound like a place where I want to be.

To be fair, checking over your right shoulder is a pretty pointless endevour no matter how much better the view is, because there is a gigantic blind spot beside you if you do that (your not checking behind yourself so much as your checking beside your car). Right shoulder is for going backwards, left shoulder is for merging. Before you do the test again, figure out where you need to move to so that you can actually see over the left shoulder.

If your there for a long time (like the people who are going for 99's such as myself the last time I was there), the difference between aiming for 20 points per game, and going for 23 (the highest I normally get if memory serves) is actually several hours. Also, the games go faster when everyone keeps trying, which can boost everyones rate of gain considerably over a few hours of play, and lastly, it just gives you something to do. If your going to be playing many many games, then always trying to get better gives you something to entertain yourself. CAn't help you with the medals though only having played that game a couple times, and not since it was updated.

You should send an Account Problem for here, since we can normally sort that out. Assuming you can receive emails. And as a side note, if your using an email client rather than a web based, installing a new OS might have buggered up the settings and stopped you from being able to receive (and possibly send) email until you fix it. I know right now my email sending function is out of commission because my isp and my parents use different settings for clients, and I just haven't remembered to fix it while I have the energy yet (since my phone can handle most of it).

People make video guides because they easier to make, not because they are easier to move. There have been very few times in my life of playing video games where a video game might have been more useful, and these moments could either be substituted out for a picture with a location circled, or 10 second clips showing the animations that signal certian attacks. Even a video of a boss fight is rarely if ever useful, because (at least for me) you can't get a feel for a fight without actually participating. Text is a much more friendly format for finding the information you want/need in a timely manner, assuming the guide is well written.
  8. Probably appreciate them even less than the players do actually. Think about it, being allowed into the beta and then just gambling is huge insult to people who developed it. Your basically saying that you'd rather spend your time playing no stakes gambling than touch something people put a lot of time and effort into.

  10. Just click on your name and select video manager, and it should say as part of the movie label if there are any problems, such as saying matched third party content. Clicking on whatever the video says will bring you to a screen explaining the problem.

Posts from boards that don't count for post count show up in your profile, but not on the sidebar under your name. Which is why I've made well over 10,000 posts higher than my post count would have you believe. No, look at the post count under my name and then look at my profile. Unlike everyone else, my profile is actually smaller. I think the theory is that the profile only counts posts that are still in the database where as the sidebar is a running counter, so if say really old posts get lost somehow, then your profile will drop but the sidebar is still counting. This would match up with my observations, in that I can't find all of my posts from the time I started.
  12. They might be counting on this to prevent people from making combined block lists, which is pretty reasonable. If two people are willing to put up with that kind of chore, then let them have their bigger ban list.

So, there seems to be some disagreement between my profile and my posts about my post count (which is normal, aside from my active count being smaller somehow). So yay, I am over 4,000 posts. Interesting weather today. We are getting a little bit of the heatwave hitting the eastern US, which aside from giving us some pretty awesome weather, also gave us enough warm air to have ourselves a real thunderstorm. So for 4 hours this afternoon if not more, it was warm and sunny, with thunder in the background every few minutes, which ramped up to nearly continuous as the clouds finally moved in over us a bit. We got a bit of rain for a few minutes, saw a few bolts. My aunt and uncle in their cottage that is a 20 minute drive from us (which only works out to about 13km or so because of the way the roads run) got pouring rain, 3/4 inch hail, and some wind. The storm was very big for us, but very spotty and hit and miss. Kinda neat. We got a seadoo in the water yesterday. The third one finally works after getting the steering and thrust director cables replaced, so it can now go backwards and turn. Aside from the ridiculousness of having 3 of these things (this one was supposed to be sold, but apparently we still have it, and its on the single trailer so its the easiest to get in and out of the water), its quite a bit of fun. I can't say I like this one quite as much as the others. It has a different hull design with a more blunt nose which likes to throw additional spay up in front of you, though I suppose this makes it look more awesome when its riding waves so there is that. I also believe it has less power than the twins do. But then again, its a freaking seadoo. You can't not have fun driving it
  14. I believe there is supposed to be something coming with the beta to up the speed of slayer a bit, so I expect they are waiting for that. Assuming Jagex forsees the shared block list and finds a way to prevent it, this will actually slow slayer down a bit by increasing time spent getting tasks and preparing for a new task (especially once beta is released and customizing your entire setup becomes more important) rather than being on task killing people. There is also an issue of crowding. As it stands now, I find most good slayer locations handle odd numbers of people best. Many spots are 2 or 3, but there are also 5 person areas. I find 4 person spots to be very rare indeed, and this update would seem to be grouping people into 2/4/6 which might become annoying until the new combat system gives them reason to re-balance these areas for different size groups (and with current activity, they aren't even going to get the data they need to do so because there probably aren't enough people slaying in beta).

  16. My first reaction would be to wonder how far apart the router and computer are? It doesn't matter if everything else can connect from roughly the same position, I find that wireless ranges tend to fluctuate pretty wildly. The only time I have ever repeatedly gotten the sort of issue I think your describing (where the connection just keeps failing even though your computer can normally see the network) is with my laptop connecting to a router that must have been 150ft away, through two exterior walls, one of which might have been solid concrete. I was in about the last 4 ft of range. 8 if I established a connection and then moved it. That connection would often refuse to establish, and often dropped me. Assuming everything is all in the same house, it is possible that there are an usual number of obstacles between you and the position of your computer. You might try moving the router to a different part of its room, or even just moving the computer to the same room and trying there to establish if this is even the problem.

Hotel is good if you can afford it. That neatly sidesteps the being a burden issue. Definately talk to her about it though to make sure she is comfortable with it and all that. If she goes for it, I think this would be awesome. I can't imagine being in a distance relationship for even close to that long myself, so kudos to you for putting up with it.
  18. Jean shorts make good work clothes doing yard work and like. I have a couple pairs that see use whenever I am doing lanscaping, construction, or paiting because they aren't good clothes, and they are fairly easy to clean (because they don't mind a harsh wash or stain remover).

My only objection (if I were at all involved in any of this and thus in a position where I had any right to object of course) would be if she lives with her parents, and you showing up unannounced will be a burden on them. That would be pretty rude and inconsiderate, and a terrible way to get accepted by her family unless they have a thing for inconvenient and inconsiderate house guests. This is also something to keep in mind for later in life. No one in the history of ever has ever been pleased to have surprise company show up (in particular as it applies to surprise company staying long enough to be fed, or needing a place to sleep). Being helpful around the house can mitigate the resentment in many cases, but the truth is your always inconveniencing people, no matter how happy they may seem to be to see you. There are circumstances where it is acceptable to impose on other people, such as your house burning down or your parents throwing you out of their house, but your not enriching their lives by doing so. Just thinking of some people I know. One family in particular does a lot of imposing on one of my aunt and uncles time during the summer. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't (or if the wife in particular) such unpleasent people to be around for extended periods, and if they actually did anything to help out while they visited, rather than just mooching.
  20. I like the quest. The duo slayer is totally meh as far as I am concerned, since I have no particular reason to slay anymore unless I go insane and decide I want 90 or something. I do like a good game party though, especially if they can get something out that is fun to play around with after the fact, even if its something simple like that dance floor from the Halloween event. I also smell more cheep promotions for the stupid wheel, looks like we are up to a weekly schedule now and its not going to change. Kind of pathetic, but whatever. I suspect some people might be right too, that they don't try as hard in the winter. The biggest stuff seems to be released in the late spring, probably because they get to hype it all up during the start of the year, and then during the rest of the year we hope for more. The second best time of year is probably October, and not just because of the Halloween events. I think we we're a little late on the big update (beta) this year though, I feel like May is supposed to be the big month, not June. We might however still be on track for an October release of the Beta going live for real, which would fit into the pattern I just made up based on some vague memories
  21. Isn't your ex the one that dumped you for your friend? Your never going to be able to trust her around your friends again, so unless your life plan involves the two of you hooking back up and then becoming hermits forever, its not going to work out, so you should probably stop considering it. Also keep in mind that she was drunk, and that no one should ever hook back up with their ex because of what one of them said ever. I don't care if they compose a Shakespearean sonnet for you while wasted, its not a good idea.

Canada Day has been fun. Finally put our firepit by the lake to use, watching people light off fireworks. I never noticed how the locals do it before. One person lights one or two off, then someone else fires one, then another guy, and eventually the first guy will launch another one and so on. It's actually really nice cause you can hold a conversation and still enjoy some of the fireworks (you can't see all of them from our vantage) for literally about an hour and a half. Also, when the city launched theirs off it was pretty impressive. You can actually see some of them from out here, many kilometres out, but its the sound that's spectacular. It's like all your neighbors got super high powered base systems and are playing earthquake tracks. Just this background rumble for 15 minutes strait. And I got to play indiana jones a bit with one of the bug torches on the way back to the house, using one as a light source. Torches such too. Not a big flame on these, but they throw out enough light, but they also dazzle you with their omnidirectional light unless you use a hand to block them so you still can't see much. Also, I scared at least two bats or something out of trees. Made me jump a bit. Been a very nice day.
  23. Congratulations both of you

In town to take care of my brothers dog for a night. It was ungodly hot outside when I came in town and did some shopping. The first time I got out of the car I thought I was going to expire before I reached the store. It had been warm out at my parents, but between standing on a field of asphalt and the warmer city winds, just urgh. And now I am about to go to sleep, and this bedroom/house has the same issue as my normal place of residence, where it is just too hot. Though I'm pretty sure my normal spot would still make this room look like an icebox by comparison, so I'm just as happy to not be living there right now. Heck, I could almost pick my future home based on which house is least likely to make me burst into flames on warm summer nights. I almost bought a volume of american dad, but the price made me go 'holy shit' so I didn't. I'll pay $24 for the commentary, full episodes (with all the stuff they cut put back in), and uncensored, but I will not pay $36. I think I'll wait a while longer. Once I start to find out what I am missing, I'll want all of them, so if I hold out I can save some money. Instead, I wandered into the games section. Kind of hard to find a pc game in a store these days. Fallout was on sale for like what I paid for it (or less) including all the expansion packs. Just for that I could have bought it since that makes it cheaper than all of them combined on steam, and it looks like it has some other extended maps thrown in. I might yet splurge and pick it up on the way home. I bought its like named edition of fallout 3, since it was cheaper and I don't already own it. Same deal, comes with all the expansions (and a French manual, but not an English one because hey, its not like anyone speaks English in this [officially English] province. Was a time when you always got both).
  25. I would say it is generally good manners to tell your references at least the field you are applying too.
