  1. Updated my copy of the game to version 15.2 I think we're at now. After confirming that I can in fact land on the Mun under full manual control, I rigged up myself a larger rocket than usual, named Loki, to go land on Minimus. Sort of lucked out on the positioning, and my usual Thor rocket probably could have made the trip without issue. You can actually use a much smaller landing stage since Minimus has so little gravity (which also makes it harder to establish an orbit). Mechjeb is too cushy now for my liking, so I normally just use its standard autopilot function to help hold the rocket steady so I can watch the map. With the patched conics, the map is a lot more useful than the information readouts, and its really helping me navigate. Not sure I could have hit Minimus without that feature. It helped me make the rondevouz, and correct my trajectory so I could establish an actual orbit. Also, minimus is all mountains. I forgot you can switch your navball between orbit and surface manually, and had it do the auto switch during final landing (which moves the retro marker to the correct spot to match the rotational speed of your landing pad). Took lots of pictures and then flew back (patched conics also making this soooo much easier to do). Anyway, here are the pictures from my 3 day and something long mission (as opposed to a normal Munar touch and go which is just over 10 hours). Still in a proper orbit here, and using the last of my 'second stage'. The final stage didn't get much use before I switched to the lander. So little gravity it had almost no work to do. I even gave it extra fuel in case my second stage ran out (like if I missed and had to play catch up with Minimus). Might need to open this one up all the way. Looking up at Kerbin, and you can see the Mun bellow it. At this point, Minimus was at one of the two points where it lines up with the normal orbital plane. Normally the Mun would be much more out to the side. And a final picture during takeoff. Its almost easier to get home from here than the Mun because there is almost nothing holding you back. Much harder to try and pick a landing spot though, because your return orbit is probably going to be more like mine, which was pretty much a polar orbit. Managed to drop myself in an ocean.

Watch out for anyone who calls their text book a course book instead. I don't think very many people use them, but the distinction here would be like when I was taking chemistry, we had a really nice spiral bound coursebook which is half text book and half notebook, the idea being that it has space for your notes, and between the text and notes, it will have everything in it you need. I wish more courses would do that, but the book is only valid for the course it was designed for. You can also normally get away with using a second hand book, even if its a version (or two) old. Just understand you might be making some corrections to it, but mostly they just change the numbers in some of the examples and then convince people they need to buy the new book. Most professors will probably tell you strait up that you can and should go get a book from someone else. Also, second hand books normally come with some notes, which is bonus if they were owned by a good student. For printing, I have my own printer as a point of convenience. To use their printers, I need to be on one of their computers. I don't think anyone using their laptops on wireless could do it. My university charges like a penny per page as well (or maybe its 5c). I do buy my paper from them though. Got like 1000 sheets for 10$ or (or less).

I don't think we have those in Canada, or at least I've never seen one (and having worked in retail for a while, I've seen just about every card you can get made in the last decade, including some of the really exclusive executive ones). So yeah, its like a hybrid between debit and credit, which would seem to be something made specifically to allow you to use a debit card online. I think I'll stick with my conventional cards though.
  5. You might consider moving the ASAS module down to the previous stage and ditching it during landing, just to lower your center of gravity a bit.Your lander is very tall, and the taller you are, the less forgiving it will be for any kind of lateral velocity. I also used to be the queen of tipping myself, normally because I would fudge the throttle and start going up, and be unable to kill the velocity again. I've created a few debris fields that way. For the fuel, the way I have my rocket is main asscent with liquid boosters, and they handle launch to space, and whatever speed they can give me. Next stage is a single non gimbaled engine with one tank, and 2 or 3 waist tanks (I'll at least get current pics sometime, but I want to get them in action, so that will have to wait at least until to night). The vastly reduced weight allows for a nice acceleration boost, and the extra tanks normally get jetesoned during the initial munar approach (I hate leaving debris behind, so I will carry them even if their empty until I am slow enough to be heading strait to the surface, and not some weird orbit). The main tank will have enough to slow me, and then I normally dump that too. After that, I think its a gimbaled engine, 1.5 tanks, and my lander sitting on top, and that handles all the main descent stuff. I normally only jetison this stage in the final kilometre or two, and then let the little descent engine and its full tank take over, once I am already going good and slow so that won't have to waste fuel fighting my inetia to slow down. It burns at nearly minimum power during landing, and should have enough fuel to at least get me back to a decaying kerbin orbit (any orbit that has a point bellow 70km will land eventually, though bellow 60km is ideal at the very least to vastly speed things up). Getting back is tricky though, I've never been able to perfect my method, and I waste a lot of fuel. Here is a picture of the current thor with a lander, instead of a rover on top of it. This is my current Mk III. Mk 4 is a lander. This one has mod parts. Nicer looking seperators to hide the engines, and nicer looking parts for the lander. Similar performance to a stock rocket though with a small engine and 1 full fuel tank lander instead of mine. Stage 1 is 3 LFE's with 4 tanks a piece, with 6 attached LFE's each with 3 tanks. Stage 2 is one full engine, 1 tank, and 3 full radial tanks feeding the main one. Radial attachment was done to help with the center of gravity, and is some models was used to hols SAS units, since offsetting them from the center axis of the rocket gives them better leverage and greatly increases effectiveness. Mk 1 uses 4, and the Summoner adds a half tank on top of each of these 3. Stage 3 which handles descent to Mun is gimbaled, runs 1.5 tanks, and carries the little maneuvering thrusters. Originally used two tanks, but trimmed it down because it was often carrying left over when it was jetesoned. This stage gets lost about 2 km up above the Mun, so that I have time to dick around with the lander itself and get it all set up. Stage 4 is the lander assembly, with a stage 5 assent module to get it home.
  6. The correct response, if you want to be real life grammar police, is to say 'no you may not loan out my stuff to other people, but if you want to borrow it, that's cool.'

That's a credit card then. At least in Canada, the easiest way to tell them apart (aside from the fact that they don't have visa, mastercard, american express, or the name of anyone else who does credit cards on them), is that debit cards lack the 3 numbers on the back, and they don't have expiry dates. Debit cards are the ones you use to withdraw money form your account(s) at an ATM. The problem with debit cards is that as soon as a purchase is made, the money is gone, and never coming back. If someone gets a hold of your card info, they can steal normally at least a couple thousand (most cards and online banking have limits like this) per day. Even with paypal, I think they can do it so you have an account number to move money into, so that they never have access to any of your actual accounts. You just move money into one they give you, and then you can use that to buy stuff online. To move money outside of the online banking, they would need you actual bank pin, which would allow them to move anything they want up to the cards limit. The bank I use has you make a different password for their site so that your computer never needs to know both your card number, and your cards pin. I think there might be some confusion about what people mean when they say debit card, and maybe there is some hybrid between what I know as debit, and credit cards that allow them to work online. Oh, and I almost forgot. Accidently sent my best flash drive through the washing machine, and realized it a couple days later (once it had plenty of drying time). I think it also went through the dryer. Thing works just fine. No data corruption/loss, and even the led light still works just right. Not planning on duplicating that stunt, but very happy that it still works. And its not one with a cap either. It's retractable and open ended, so soapy water was all up inside of it.

I've never been able to use my debit card online. Every time I try there is never a place to put your password  But now I have a credit card, and running all my purchases through that builds up points and a credit rating, which will be a good thing when I go to get a loan for a car or house.
  9. My best landing ever in a 'they actually' lived kind of way was when I accidently time lapsed way into my landing phase. I think I managed to stop it by 20km, and managed to get myself pointed in the right direction at 14km (because I was coming in at nearly 1000 m/s). Fortunately, I still had my stage 3 (or 4, can't remember) assembly, and it was light because I fudged the timing of the launch and had to use extra fuel, and its big engine was able to put the brakes on pretty hard. I still had to dump it about a km up, and floor the descent engine for that entire kilometer. I finally managed to get under 20m/s about 100m from the ground. It was a very close call. If I have some time on Monday (I should), I might consider making a video of my landing procedure using a minimal number of add on features. In fact, I should do it without mechjeb at all. I'll be getting soft and losing all my skill if I never do it manually. Also a nice way to show of my rocket design that no matter how much I try, I simply can't top it. I've been able to refine it to make it more efficient and easier to control, partially made possible by refining my flying procedure, but it's a nice rocket, and I think I have a totally stock variant of it (instead of my lander using extra parts that make it shorter and a bit lighter). I could probably make it smaller with a Kerbal slingshot, but I still prefer my orbitless approach to slamming into the Mun and returning. The Thor was not designed to achieve orbit around kerbal, and will probably crash if you try (it can do it, but you'll end up more than 400km away. Closer and you'll crash it).

Don't you need a credit card for online purchases? even if you can get a debit card to work, I wouldn't use it, seeing as that has direct and immediate access to your account. Bank's don't reverse fradulant charges made to debit cards, or credit cards once you've paid. You want the period where you can dispute a charge for your own protection. Put up ceiling tiles in our kitchen today as a whole family effort (brother came out). Took a while, but wasn't too bad. I have also decided that when diving near or after midnight, that its just easiest to assume that anyone who isn't speeding is drunk, and should be passed at the soonest (safe) possible time. And if they aren't drunk, their probably nervous or inexperienced, which really isn't much better. The difference in time between my house and my boyfriends is insane from day to night. Day time with super light traffic is ~40 minutes. After 11pm, it was between 20-25 between the even more ridiculously absent traffic, more favorable lights, and higher speeds.
  11. More throttle? Been a while since I played, but I think starting at around 40km up, I would do a full throttle retro burn to get myself down to about 500m/s second. I keep that pace within about 50 m/s till 20km up, where I decreate to maybe 250. At 10km its time to stop using any time acceleration, and start slowing down to 100m/s by 5km up. At 1000m I am slowing down to maybe 20 m/s, and I am finishing up the elimination of any lateral movement by tilting and firing the engine in an attempt to 'chase' the retro marker onto the center dot on the nav ball. By 500m you should be at landing speed (if not sooner), which is probably between 5 and 8 m/s. Most craft will break and be unable to take off again if they land harder than that. Honestly, the hard part is not losing all your speed and going back up, which means you have to kill your lateral speed again. And to kill your lateral velocity, if you have been using your reto marker during the lunar descent, it should be pretty close by 40km or so. Look at the solar map and pick a point when your line is roughly strait down, or when your 40km if your coming in from a low orbit). What I normally do it put my orientation so that the retro marker is halfway between the center dot, and where I am aiming. Roughly at the midpoint. Then I gently use the throttle to chase it towards the dot. You'll probably have to do this 2-3 times, maybe more, during the descent. Doing it high up saves you some pressure later by making it easier to do later on, but it makes it difficult to pick a particular landing spot. And I use the mechjeb plugin to hold the pod upright during the actual landing so that I only have to deal with the throttle. But this means I have to have perfectly killed my lateral velocity, or else I will need full manual control to kill it just before touch down (landing with any significant lateral speed will tip you, break you, or blow you up).

Locking this thread, because tif is not a place for people to discuss the potential leglality of their revenge schemes when they get mad at someone for doing their job, rather than doing you a favor that would mean risking their job and a huge fine, as well as a potential criminal record. And for the record, yes, vandalism actually is illegal, and would result in criminal charges and a record, as well as some potential embarrassing news coverage if the media is having a slow day. I am also locking this because once everyone is done introducing the OP to reality, the only place left for this thread to go is up in flames, and I think we can safely skip that step.

The pocket complaint is aimed at all jeans actually. I've seen men try to get their wallet out while sitting down. Their pockets close just as tightly, as do any shorts with the pockets in the same place. And no, womens clothis is not practical at all. This is why if you look in my closet for most of the year, its mostly made up of jeans, tanktops, golf shirts and sweaters. For the summer, I have an endless supply of shorts and some t-shirts, ranging from baggy more functional styles (that have things like pockets because I do a lot of yard work, and need to carry shit), to my cute ones.

That would be them. Watched the wild rabbit a bit today. It does go into the garden sometimes, but we've never noticed any damage to the plants. It seems to really like the clover in the lawn, and it also has a sweet tooth for some of the broadleaf weeds (I think its eating our dandelions, which is terrific). And its also super cute.

My dad also has a few rolls of some super grade paper towl (its blue). It's more or less a roll of rags so that you don't need to wash the things (or deal with super filthy rags). Also good stuff to have around for auto work since paper towel doesn't always cut it. And yeah, the grit helps too, and the fact that you wipe it off rather than rinse is nice. Still working on the wheelbarrow for some reason. Really need to get the damn thing painted so I can start putting it back together and work on the other one, which will probably be more work (it looks like it has more bolts that have fused with their nuts, and more bolts with screwdriver heads that will give way before the nut starts to move no matter how much penetrating oil you use). And I figured out how to pair my phone to my moms Mini, which is nice because I rarely remember to take my phone out of my pocket and its damn near immpossible to do that once your driving, at least if I'm wearing jeans (I'm not sure why we collectively decided on a pocket design/style that clamps totally shut the second you sit down, but we did, and now we all have to deal with it).
  16. Removed a few posts for inappropriate language in screenshots, and out of consideration that one of the parties objected to being humiliated by them. And a note for the future, all pictures with profanity need a warning tag, not just the first one in a series.

My dad has some sort of soap (I think it's this one. Has a great big bottle of it). That grease that would resist any normal soap (or dish soap) comes right off your hands with that stuff in seconds. And it makes your hands smell like oranges. If only all soap was so good at cleaning.
  18. This. This so much. Really have got to wonder what it will be though... PLEASE say there will be events like the Strange Power, I still remember that day... I totally read 'please let there be power rangers' Interesting though. Also, don't forget to add 50% to any proposed release times.
  19. I have to agree, bumblebees are totally awesome and adorable. Can't say I've worked myself up to touching one (though I have thought about it), but I do like to watch them work. We have mostly bumblebees where I live. Not sure if we have any honeybees though (but they aren't quite as cute anyway).
  20. Huh, the norm I hear reccomended is 20 minutes, which should ensure you bail before you REM. I figure a lot of it is personal experimentation too though. Everyone has their own cycle timings, and really, you just need to find something that works for you within your time constraints. For me, if I can't get 2+ hours, I normally don't bother. Anything under 4 hours if I am really tired is also nightmare material.
  21. Nice to see history being made. Not a whole lot of teams left that have never won the cup, so getting to see it happen for the first time for any team is pretty awesome. Also, since I consider the kings to be the superior team in terms of overall skill anyway, its nice for them win on home ice where all their fans can enjoy it. I do feel bad for Brodeur though. Really like him (though quick is also really good, and has an awesome name for a golie). Just a bit disapointed that you pretty much knew it was over in the first half of the first period. I like the final game to be a really good one. And now I am wondering if Brodeur will retire or not. I figured he would for sure if the Devils won, though he does have 3 of them already so its not like he needs to come back for a fourth. I also wonder who our new team Canada golie will be, since I figure if Brodeur does do another season, it will be the last one, and he'll retire before the winter olympics. Also, no hockey for like 3 months now :(
  22. On the bot front, back in October, Jagex nuked all of the injection and reflection style bots (screen scrapers still worked, but were rarely used). They also nuked most peoples frame rate. Its been enough time that screen scraper style bots have taken off in popularity, and pushed to the limits of what they can do, and I think some of the injection bots are also working again. The new plan is Optimus, being headed by a former bot developer, which has been released for a few weeks now. Optimus is a platform from which they can launch many anti bot moves to keep them on their toes, and ultimately be much more effective long term (or so everyone hopes). I can't say I've been paying a lot of attention, but I think the bot situation is still better than it was last September (it was just terrible then. Worst I had ever seen). With any luck, we will see the anti bot stuff being released pretty soon.
  23. Also expanding on the sleep, my experiance is that ideally, you want to wake up out of anything except REM sleep. REM sleep still has your mind linked up to your unconscious, and you tend to be really drowzy and lazy. If your coming out of stage 2-4, its more of a 'bang! eyes open!' sort of deal, and you can just hop right out of bed. REM cycles get longer and more frequent as time goes on, but if you naturally wake up in a REM cycle (I think many people do), and your sleep schedule is pretty regular, try setting an alarm 15-25 minutes early, and see if that helps. Or you could have someone try to startle you to walkfulness for the rest of your life (though you would really need to change things up to keep the effect going). My guess on the popping is the severe expansion and contraction some of the parts go through as the heat pump cycles on and off. Mine does it too a bit, though it almost sounds like its the fluid inside making the noise. Anyway, I find mine likes to do it when the pump turns off (or when you shut it off), so my guess is its expanding pipes in the unit itself.
  24. Not really happy with this game. I don't mind if LA gets the cup, but I hate to see a playoff game (especially when its a final) get decided by 3 goals on a 5 minute major penalty, though kudos to them for managing to hang on for a double minor and another minor, and still be able to score one. It's also a shitty way to win the cup since it really looks like he took a dive to get the major penalty as well (reinforced by him coming back in the second). Almost worse than seeing it go to shoot out (cool as they are, I'd rather see victory determined by actually playing hockey, not an entirely different game).
  25. It's certainly not a problem for TMHT or Editorial members to apply for crew (or mod, when they come up) positions. It's kind of nice for us actually because we already have a sense of how you guys work in a team setting and what not. So apply away :)
