Have I played since the so-called 'golden days'?
There's no such thing as a golden era. I restarted back in spring '02 and definately have fond memories of RSC. But when I took the window to play RSC again I immediately jumped right back out. What was great to me then was playing a new game, exploring a new world, and reaching for new accomplishments. But that game was terrible beyond compare. Every feature the old farts complain about for making things too easy really just removed a lot of the mundane and now players can enjoy runescape without getting carpal tunnel. Back then: You swing your axe at the tree... You slip and fail to hit the tree You swing your axe at the tree... You slip and fail to hit the tree You swing your axe at the tree... You slip and fail to hit the tree You swing your axe at the tree... You slip and fail to hit the tree You swing your axe at the tree... You slip and fail to hit the tree\ You swing your axe at the tree... You get some wood. Versus now: You swing your hatchet at the tree. (chopping animation) You get some logs. Being a veteran isn't about what kind of game you used to play. It means understanding the game you play today.

Blood Talisman
lol!!!! I've just burned 24 vyrewatch, my first 24 vyrewatch, and I got 2 more blood talismans! I'm either extraordinarily lucky or they're drop rate is extremely under-estimates!

Shades vs Vyrewatch
I didn't even know sacred oils and pyre logs were tradable. So this changes much! To the vyrewatch: Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You bit my neck. Prepare to die! -584k gold from my first 50 cremations, not including what I kept that probably would have pushed it closer to 750k-1m. Yeah, I have fallen in love with vyrewatch!-

Shades vs Vyrewatch
I actually enjoyed Vyrewatch burning: I maxed out my flail (Hopefully will be useful for the next Myreque quest), got pretty decent loot including nice seeds, and I got a fm lvl out of it as well as some pray exp. I've tried shade burning, and what I hated was all the running back and forth between the temple, cemetery, and the pyres; if you're fine with that then I don't know what to tell you but I like Vyrewatch hunting a lot more. But aren't you running out to kill vyrewatch, going to for oils, and then going to the salve temple to cremate as well anyway? Since you did both, did you feel like the rewards from burning vyrewatch was better? I killed Vyres in batches of 100 in order to power up my flail, running between the bank and the area Vyres are found, then banked in Canifis for the logs and bodies and burned them in the temple and went back for more till had to kill. I made the logs ahead of time at the ge, so there wasn't any need to go to the temple for oil. I enjoyed the rewards, and what I liked about it was that I had a goal of maxing my flail (I was gonna go trekking with it, but it turned out to be not all that great for that; still is awesome though). I just tried killing vyres, horrible slow. But I think I'll mix it up. Kill about 10 vyres between shade runs until I've got enough to boost the flail strength. As that goes up I might try to kill more vampires, see if it's a signifigant enough improvement. Thanks for the tip about killing in batches.

Shades vs Vyrewatch
As much fun as it would be to watch shades doing battle with vampires I'm more curious about which of these activities is more worthwhile. Masochist that I am I actually enjoy shade burning to a certain extent. Figure it's an ok way to train firemaking, prayer, and to a lesser degree crafting while getting some rewards out of it. But now that I've finished Legacy of Seergaze I'm not sure if there's a benefit to burning vyrewatch remains over shades. The XP seems to be based on the logs regardless so do vyrewatch keys yield better treasure or anything? Anyone who's had experience with one or both activities please let me know your thoughts.

The word "Mahjarrat" in RSC?
Man, I didn't remember this quest at all. Cool find.

Ranging without commiting suicide
Yup, you can't fire over crates. Lame much, you bet! Your second situation should work sometimes, especially against big creatures that don't squeeze so well. I *think* the only things you can fire from behind are small rocks, tables, barred fences. Safe spots usually require space management and angles rather than just plain barricades.

King Black dragon special.
That and the god sword sound like bad ideas to me. Though I'm bias against getting burned so hey. DDS is probably still your best bet, could have just had some bad luck with those misses. He might not be the touchest baddie anymore but you still gotta give him his dues and expect to miss once in a while.

Prayer Armor improvements
I dunno if you want to do quests or not, if so pick up the salve ammy (e) for a prayer bonus and extra damage vs. undead, which specters are.

Mournings End PT: Evil Handholds of DOOM!
Thanks for the tips. Dinner was good so my aggravation is down, that should help a bit at least. Time to try, try, try, try again.

Mournings End PT: Evil Handholds of DOOM!
Evil Dave probably loves 'em but I don't. I've got 70 agility and been using agility pots and after a half hour of failing, once just two spots away, I'm taking a short break and grabbing something to eat. In the meantime, anyone know if your weight or energy level has any effect? I've searched the forums and found that while I'm not alone in despising this particular spot, people have made it with 15 fewer levels in agility so I gotta be missing something else. Either that or Jagex is truly evil in which case I'll be buying a plane ticket and introducing a frying pan to some developers faces!

Firemaking is so boring!
Burning shades will be slower, but it might not be a bad idea from time to time to kill some of that repetitiveness. You'll also pick up prayer XP and the rewards can be used to purchase more logs. I haven't really tried to do the lights thing but I despise the goblin city and everything to do with those backwards creatures.

ROW and Brine Rats
The ring of wealth increases the chance that a rare drop will be of a higher value. Coins and common drops are completely unaffected. Basically, you have a slightly better chance of getting a dragon left half off of them over a half key, assuming that half keys are on their rare table.

Grand Exchange syndrome
You might have a minor OCD, which really isn't a big deal. If you're in a store trying to decide if you can afford something that's probably you just being sensible. If your you're racking your brain debating a small purchase that's the obsessive bit. In game, you may obsess over the joy of successfully making a purchase. Only thing that really helps is forcing yourself to ignore the impulse to do something. I recommend the same thing for both life and game. Only carry what cash you actually feel like spending and remind yourself that's it free to burn. In game; keep your GP in the bank and pull out as close to exactly what you'd need for your purchase. I haven't bought coal since it was about 180 GP each, so if that's still an accurate number then pull 90K GP and not a coin more. It's all about discipline. You don't have a disease or need to fear casinos. Like most things in life, you'll just have to practice.

Awesome tip for summoners!
Well, I've been using the Yanille obelisk for a bit now, and I finally decided to talk to the guy. Guess what, he gives away free shards! He called me yeoman and just handed me 344 shards for free. So if you were a part of the chompy hunting craze it's time to cash in, and if your ogre bow only has a single scratch in it, well at least now you know something you can do to save you some cash. P.S. Since this is just a tip I figured Help&Advice was the most appropriate board.

Honey comb? (v noob q sorry!)
I just happened to be in Catherby when I read this so I figured I'd check it out. Indeed, you get honeycombs from the beehives, use repellent on it to scatter the bees then right click for the take honey option. You gotta use the repellent each time or fear the deadly bee stings of doom!

how to get the burners of altar lit?
OK, while in build mode you'll see "candle" build spots, you must build oak incense burners (61 construction) or better to use with marrentills for the bonus. Once your burners are lit, use (not bury) the bones on the alter for the bonus to take effect. The candles on the alter itself are purely for decoration.

Im a visage noob
Computer based programs have no concept of random, there is always a set pattern to determine when something must happen, and if it's set then a statistical percentage can be made. From that percentage you get your odds. So if there's a .001% chance of the conditions being met for the visage to drop, you have a 1:100,000 odds. And somehow I think those odds might just be right :P

99 Thieving
Well, on the plus side being that you're starting at level 50 and not level 1, according to that guide you shave off about 4 and a half hours. However, his outside game time at 2 minutes is on the extremely hopeful side, you'll also have to factor a lack of knowledge if you haven't done PP before, glitches and lag. I'd say 80-100 hours is doable, would definitely not suggest less though and that's taking your current level into account.

Karjam Gloves + Brimhaven Agil Course=Good AGIL EXP?
Numbers! Well, it's going to take about two minutes to get your first ticket, but after that it's basically 1 minute per ticket at the Agility Arena, assuming you never fail. So, trading in 1000 tickets with the karamja gloves will net you 352,000 agility XP, about 352 per minute with some extra time in there to annoy you. Now, I had timed myself running around the wilderness course once before, but can't remember where that bloody piece of paper went. It took a bit less than a minute if I recall correctly, but over two minutes while walking. So if you run and walk, we split the difference and say your XP per minute at wild is gonna be about 428.55 agility XP per minute. The difference is that we are not including the obstacles in the agility arena, which can get you between nadda XP for the saw thingy, and 30 XP for dodging the darts. So basically, if your getting more than 77 XP from the obstacles on the way to the pillar you'll do better at Brimhaven. Of course, if you're using super energy pots at the wild, the difference is gonna be much greater. I suggest you time yourself at the wild course for a bit and see how much higher or lower you are from my 1 minute estimates. I favored it being less than a minute but could be wrong. For personal opinion, I found it far easier to shoot for 50-100 tickets a day, spending only an hour or two at the arena. I didn't see any results for a while of course, but the boost from cashing 'em in finally was so much nicer than 1 level at a time. And I found it was slightly more entertaining training there. Anyway, hope this helps. I'm off to cheat the system and make more summer pies!
