Problems with Runescape: The triangle
Your point? You do realise this topic is about exactly that: how mages can overcome the combat triangle more easily than the other classes? give him a break lol hes probably dyslexic and didnt read a single thing anyway Heh, that tickled. Anyway, great original post 'cept that ya forgot to offer some remedy ideas of yer own. Still, a billion times better than just complaining about something without putting any thought into it (The numerous threads about the new updates would be a perfect example of thoughtless whining) and I heartily agree with you. It's always bugged me that warriors get almost no offensive benefit from wearing the armor specific to their class, as mages and rangers do. It makes sense from a realistic standpoint, and in fact armor would generally take away from a warrior's ability to move and attack effectively, but who cares about realism this is a game and the mechanics need to be balanced. Presumably adding bonuses to melee armor would overpower the warrior class, and I think the main problem is Jagex is fearful that backtracking and reducing weapon stats to be made up for with armor bonuses would cause players to complain more. Personally I think armor based bonuses would be the perfect solution in this particular case, and would even allow for more options for new features to the warrior class. So if we're lucky the gripers will all quit in the next few weeks and with solid suggestions becoming the new norm a change like this may be possible. One can hope anyway.

does ring of wealth really work?
Wear ring of wealth everywhere when training. It never reduces your chances of getting an item. It's been explained as follows: Definite Drops: 100% An enemy always drops something such as bones, ash, or steel bars. Common Drops: 90% You have a 9 in 10 chance of obtaining an item from a table of common drops for that monster. Gold typically as well as items usually of lesser value. Uncommon Drops: 9% A table of more valuable items attached to certain NPCs. Rare Drops: 1% High value items that is going to require a lot of killing to get, but you should have some luck every few hundred or so. Extremely Rare Drops: <1% The uber goodies like dragon chains from dust devils or the half shield from pretty much anything. Prepare to wage a one man war to have a shot at these things. The ring of wealth is supposed to improve the chances of getting a higher value item for each table, it does not cause the tables themselves to change. Example you kill a cyclops and trigger the common drops table which has in it a potential black dagger and black long sword, the ROW improves the odds of getting the black long sword. I should point out that I do not know what the actual drop tables contain nor do I have any clue as to the actual percentage odds for each one. But this is meant to give you an idea. The defenders are likely to be on an uncommon or rare table with fewer other items, so the ROW won't hurt you. But you'll be more likely to end up with better drops to sell, which makes your efforts more profitable, and that's what wealth is all about. Oh, and I recommend a good 600 tokens at a time, an hour of cyclops hunting will probably turn up something. Of course, your level and ability to kill the cyclops quickly should determine how long you need to stay in there, it's a matter of kills and luck not tokens spent. Good luck.

Are you a "Old Timer" or a "RS2 product"?
I'm an old fart. First joined back around November '01 as f2p only. Hated the game, with its cruddy graphics, lack of sound, and very little content. I rejoined spring of '02 with my own credit card and went members at level 7ish. Got that silly bunny hat, but missed out on the christmas drop (I guess it was santas). Missed Halloween masks cause Halloween was the day I moved in to my apartment-no interenet for me then. I also missed scythes and rubber chickens. Pretty much the only proof I have that I'm an old fart is the bunny ears. I was so happy to get them too. I sometimes miss RSC, 400 people on members worlds at peak game time. Duels and no one could tell the difference between a r2h and a rune dagger. Good times.

65 to 70
Get yourself a salve ammy from the haunted mine quest if you don't already have one, and then go after undead. The boost to attack and damage will help speed up training greatly. A black mask and slayer tasks also works great, but I dunno if you're up to mass slaughtering of cave horrors at your level.

Trolls????
When you use the beastiary provided by the main tip.it site, instead of typing in "troll" leave the keyword blank. Use the race dropdown menu and pick troll, then click search. Everything you find there will count, and you can pick your target(s) based on level/location/drop that way.

How Did Tip. It become to be so well known?
Instead of learning how to write the code for your own site, and then paying for a domain, you can help out the RS community right here. Between the help and advice forum, and player made guides you have plenty of opportunity to share your knowledge with your fellow players.

Tip.It Times Presents: Be vewwy, vewwy quiet¢¢âš¬¦
OK, firstly, like the previous Tip.It Times articles, I enjoyed the read. Well written (minor errors aside, it happens) and informative. Much like you my initial impression of Hunter was that it lacked a relationship with the other skills on Runescape, and my first impression was of a stand alone skill. This is not true. From a combat point of view you get three new weapons. The combat changing lizards/salamanders which may lack punch, but may prove more potent in situations requiring quickly changing combat types (Dagannoth mommy just lost her edge :D ). Chinchompas, as you pointed out, could be useful in drawing crowd aggro. And lastly, something left unmentioned. The Hunter crossbow; costing 1300 gp, which means it is in fact the highest priced item currently available in the Hunter skill-imp boxes come second. My tests with this weapon were quite promising. It fires just faster than short bows, with a damage output comparable to steel arrows. It makes a great range training weapon thanks to its speed and potency-beating the favored iron arrows. The main issue with it is the ammo, taking a fair bit of work gather large numbers of kebbit [bleep]es. But that's the other beauty of this weapon. It will provide hunters with that means for money making. Check the official Runescape forums and you will find that there is a demand for [bleep]es already with very few suppliers. For fans of dead falling, this could be a very relaxing way to pull in cash. There are other ways hunter works with the rest of the skills available. Bird hunting provides an alternative to massive chicken slaughter in the collection of feathers. Regardless of the type of feather collected, all can be used in fletching to make arrows or darts. A lucky charm (that is not so magically delicious) made from a rabbit's foot will help woodcutters get more nests, and the gloves of silence are a long desired item for thieves. While I agree that Hunter could use more additions, and there are a plethora of possibilities tied to this skill, at least there are plenty of things to do in the meantime.

45k silver
You should one hit most of the time on the silver rocks, problem isn't how hard it'll be to get the ore, it's the few silver rocks and long respawn times that will take forever. Try the crafting guild on a busy world and hope that it's empty. Still you're only looking at about 350 silver ore an hour. Which is about 115 hours (4 days 18 hours, ish) of mining to get 40k.

white capes...
Once upon a time... There were but three capes in the world (of runescape). Red capes bought at the varrock clothes store, black capes obtained from killing highway men, and the fabled blue capes worn by the greatest of adventurers who'd earned the right to enter the champions guild! But time went by, the champions guild lost its respect as the requirements to get in were getting easier. More capes were added and you could even dye your own. The Legends quest and guild were a return to the theme of the old champions guild. Legends is representative of accomplishment, that you've built your skills and tackled some of the tougher quests. You know you're looking at a legend when you see the white cape. It's about pride, and for some of us-a bit of nostalgia too.

cutting mahoganys vs. mini-game thing
You could always do jungle clean up to get mahagony. It's a bit slow at first but with investments into jungle clothing and red topaz machette it becomes a very quick means of getting teak and mahogany logs. There's no bank nearby, but you can send items to your bank with one of the villagers (costs a certain number of trading sticks per item).

Where are the goats?
Carpet ride to Polnavich(or whatever the spelling is), then head north for 3, east of them is another 3 plus a billy goat that also drops a horn. Best spot I've found anyway.

Fastest range XP
Cannon = uber xp. Some good spots, lessers at Karamja volcano are good but it's not multi-combat so you can sometimes get stuck just blasting one at a time, ogres either at lathas training ground (if no other players-it depends) or in the bloodchest tower north of Ardougne, or dagganoths at the lighthouse.

damis question
Negatory, they changed it just before I did the quest, evil buggers

World 16 Air Rune?
It is pretty much like it sounds, you use world 16 to craft airs, paying runners. The specifics as I'm aware are: You bring noted rune essence (not pure essence since you'll be working with f2pers on a f2p world) Once you're set, say "Open [payment]" Payment ranges from 2-3k, obviously if you offer higher you are more likely to get the runners attention first. Runners assume you will also be giving them noted ess back so if not be sure to say so. I believe there is also a thread on world 16 air crafting in the Archive of Wisdom so be sure to check there for more details.

What do you think the most respected 99 cape will be?
Well, I agree that 99 is an achievement, and certainly do not wish to take away from anyone-but since this is a question about which is the most respected... Tops: Agility Thieving Also groovy(These also can not be "bought" but more people have and will have 99 in them due to to popularity: Mining Woodcutting Fishing Everything else can be bought in one way or another.

Herblore question..
Slaughter water elementals in seers. You'll get a filled vial every time, the bank isn't too far, and you can even pick up some runes and more herbs.

Monkey Gree grees
Yes, you need to kill the gorrilas in the temple for use in a gorilla gree gree. To kill them, use stat boosting prayer + melee protection prayer (it'll drain quick but the alter is right there) and also try using a poison weapon to counteract the regeneration. It may take a while, but this should work. Or you could try dragon b axe special + restore pot + supper attack. Good luck.

To quit RS or not?
Accaunts are kept alive for at least 180 days (based on my tests), so you can go 6 months without touching this game and not worry. It's helpfull too, in my opinion, to hang it up for a while. So go ahead and give it a break if you're bored. You can come back later and find new quests, mini-games, silly little nobs wandering too deep in the wilderness-and it might be fun again. If it's not, oh well-you came, you played, next! :D

Trading over a barrier
Don't believe so, used to be possible and people in catherby would trade their food to people on the island for d bones. Now, players who try to trade will move next to the other person, so I think you'll have to be able to stand on an adjacent square. Not sure about trading through fences though-haven't tried.

Dumb question
Ah the old days, when a dagger, long sword, and 2h all looked exactly the same. :D

Getting onto worlds 1 and 2
No, copy everything into notepad (the basic text thing you'll find under accesories). Then Click file, save as, Name.html. You have to set the name as .html otherwise it will just be a text document. Doing this creates a web page that will call up your runescape world for you. Of course, if it's full you'll have to keep trying, but it beats constantly refreshing the world selection page.

Defense against Infernal Mages
Red dragonhide is efficient enough for these guys (and it' quite stylin' too :D ) Level 60 range isn't too bad to get to from 51, and infernal mages were my reason for going for 60 range. I used a cannon to jump through the levels but a cheaper option would be knives. It's worth it IMO, there are many slayer critters with magic based attacks. Mystic boots offer +3 magic defense, wizard boots from treasure trails offer +4, lunar and ghostly shoes offer +2 magic defense, and snakeskin offers +1. So those are some options for ya as well. Not sure about ranger boots, don't own any. Good luck.

Most killed monster?
Black Knights  Once upon a time they were the most powerful enemy in the game, and were still considered a challenge even well after higher level enemies popped up. There was a time in RSC when people would gloat about being able to kill a Black Knight, and with Wanted more people took to the slaughter of the poor misunderstood evildoors. Probably not the most killed today, but through time alone I'm sure they're a contender.

dragon hally
I don't often see dragon hallys being sold, mind you I'm not looking either. It's up to you though, saving money by buying from a desperate player or saving time by buying from the shop (since you know it will be there). If cash isn't a big deal I'd recomend buying from the shop. It's a long annoying trap infested walk out there and if you're not able to find a seller you're going to hate making the trip twice. :P
