  1. Don't know why I didn't add you to my TIF Friends List before. Ah well, fixed now! =)

  2. Or maybe I'm just posting how I happen to feel regarding this? You read too much into my hand-signed thoughts. :P Would be a bad place to die, though. Good thing it didn't happen to me. ;) Win  I second that. But with two thumbs up! ~D. V. "No summary/side-thoughts this time... Too many items replied to..." Devnull
  3. I'm going to have to 2nd the idea to have a Sub-Forum within Rants and/or General Discussion about this. Just for starters, a mere sticky would develop too much cross-traffic. Further, it would totally miss both its' initial purpose as well as its' far-reaching purpose, and would die ultimately due to being useless to everyone. Also, it would be nice to be able to converse with others, work out interesting and diverse strategies, and ultimately squish a ton of the bots that are messing up the game for everyone. Heck, it would even be interesting to have some meta-discussion that tries to figure out just how many bot families are currently still alive and/or active out there, as well as the scope of how vulnerable they are to some methods. ;) ~D. V. "Personally, I'm sick of the bots too! Sub-Forum PLEASE!" Devnull (p.s.: BTW, my apologies about how squished together this post is. I was thinking on the fly and was trying to get it up quickly.)
  4. This is definitely a crazy bug. As far as I know however, due to that segment being instanced, it shouldn't be possible for there to be multiple people in the same room area. So anyone that's there won't be able to see if anyone's attackable. But, logging out and back in should put an instant end to that Wilderness Status Indicator, which would put their character back to being safe. ;) ~D. V. "That's just wack, man!" Devnull
  5. I normally hate to play "Devil's Advocate", but she's nailed it on the head. Seriously, there's way too much room for abuse on this one, sorry. :( ~D. V. "Sorry, your idea was dead before it began..." Devnull
  6. Okay everyone, I've read through this whole thread and read that other topic in the above quote, and I'm still puzzled as to two things. Is that info all still current, and where the heck is the convergence point for F2P? ~D. V. "Still confused..." Devnull
  7. Hi all... I know about the "HYT" phrase. What I don't know about, however, is what happened to the F2P world for Tip.It'ers. Also, what again is the team cape number for Tip.It'ers? ~D. V. "A few things needing to be pulled out of the sands of time, huh?" Devnull
  8. Hello, Dire_Wolf... There is something that Jagex needs to do before they do anything more with RuneScape. In my opinion, that would be to: REVIVE FUNORB.COM!!! (Yes, there's an infernal amount that Jagex left undone/unhandled/out-of-sorts over there, and IMO it is really past time that they fixed that. If they ever do away with that nice site, I'll be extremely angry.) Now, on the side of stuff for RuneScape, I'm about to get rant-grade due to all I've spotted since RSHD first came out. So, here is a list of some technical things that really need (read as "are beyond overdue for") fixing there: Unlink File I/O and Graphics Rendering (Seriously, this was stupid to let happen in the first place. Who didn't check their boundaries in RAM and such?) Restore proper older DirectX 9 support (They don't have to render all the awesome on older cards, just allow the mode to work but not render what's outside a graphics card's capability.) Restore proper older OpenGL support (Again, they don't have to render all the awesome on older cards, just allow the mode to work but not render what's outside a graphics card's capability.) Better File Closes and Garbage Collection on exit of the RuneScape Java Applet (I know this is possible without crashing everything, because they used to be able to do it before on older systems!) Enable and allow user-chosen configuration of Function Keys with the RuneScape Java Applet (This one's been a long time overdue, seeing as we've lost a lot of quick functions in-game that were very helpful, such as being able to hit something like "F8" to talk with Friends quickly...) Restore functionality to the Middle Mouse Button! (Really, Jagex should never have removed how the Middle Mouse Button duplicated the functionality of the Left Mouse Button in the RuneScape Java Applet. However, since they have, I think they're long overdue with restoring and expanding that lost functionality with additional options.) Enable and allow more control over chatbox's transparency in Resizeable/FullScreen modes (Seriously, that gradient is nothing but a major annoyance in a number of places. Jagex really should have provided more options with the chatbox already, such as solid transparency, in order to handle such.) Enable and allow more control over color settings on the chatbox (Again, another major annoyance here. Put simply, "lack of transparency control + annoying locked blue normal chat color + lack of reasonable color options due to Jagex' assumptions = hard to read chat + severe headache to users", and is yet another situation that didn't have enough forethought put in. I'm really wishing Jagex would think ahead completely when they release features like these.) Now, I'm not asking for the Sun, Moon, and Stars here. In the case of the Graphically-linked matters, I'm only listing these because I'm asking Jagex to at least allow what can work on older video cards and older systems to do so, and just not render the rest on those systems. I really don't mind if they want to have cool/awesome stuff for the newer systems and graphics cards, as long as it doesn't completely block/exclude older systems from being able to use the hardware-accelerated modes to a lesser extent. I'm not going to ask (or make, for that matter) them bend over backwards for older users, but I would at least like to see them have the competency as a company to not just dump users with older PCs off the back end of the Jagex bandwagon. In the case of the other things in this section, they're beyond long-overdue or were something that shouldn't have been eliminated/messed-up, and they really need to be worked on and completed now as well. :geek: On the not-so-technical side, here are a list of some in-game elements that could use (or possibly just flat need) some adjustment and/or re-thinking... A few more Imps to kill (My apologies to Imp-Lovers, but there really just aren't enough of them in F2P to sound like the big annoyance they're touted to be. So a few more of them placed here and there would be very helpful in maintaining continuity in F2P's areas.) Ability to replay old Quests (I know, there's all kinds of wacky issues that could happen here. Jagex is obviously going to have to take time to develop checks to prevent certain Quest-Related Things from happening before they're supposed to. The problem is, unless Jagex allows this, they're not really going to be able to properly show off their changes to Quests to those F2P/P2P who have already long since done them.) Allow Auto-casting Options for Mages to be flipped to requiring a right-click (For some, being able to activate it immediately with a left-click is nice. However, for some such as myself, it is a mere hindrance. Why, you ask? We have a way of changing up spells we're using on the fly and/or interjecting other auto-castable spells in our stream of any single given auto-casted spell.) Ability for Stiles to only note just the fish we want him to (Yes, I'm talking about that fish-note guy sitting South of the volcano at 'Musa Point, Karamja'... I've had a couple spots where I had a few uncooked Swordfish sitting alongside a large batch of cooked ones, and I really shouldn't have to resort to dropping stuff on the ground for a moment and/or wasting time unnecessarily to cook the rest before speaking with them.) Ability to make more Ceremonial Swords ("The Knight's Sword" Quest) after the quest is over (This would be nice just for the purposes of costumes and decorative things, and IMO would be easy to do. Yeah, maybe have a check or two to stop annoying the Squire with, but beyond that shouldn't need too much extra.) OPTIONAL: Restore the Lumby NPC Jobs (These seemed rather useful in the past, and really could use being given another chance in RuneScape.) OPTIONAL: Allow F2P access to the Chaos RC Altar (Okay, I'm NOT going to be pushy with this one. However, us F2P'ers don't mind having to take the long road in, just as long as we can craft some of these for our chaos-rune-based spells. Yes, this would mean allowing Normal Rune Essence to work with this altar, but I really think that's a small price to allow F2P Mage to start becoming balanced against F2P Range/Melee. Heck, at least you wouldn't be giving F2P that shortcut for P2P!) OPTIONAL: Re-think the positioning of the Al-Kharid side's starting area guards down by the boat to Daemonheim, and/or change the fog from the Lumby Swamp area to not cover the boat's location It just seems to me like something got mixed there that shouldn't have. Further, Daemonheim's distance to the wilderness really makes that area more dangerous than it seems. So, I think it would be useful to put an extra layer of protection between newbie RuneScape players and entry to Daemonheim, even if the hint was rather subtle.) OPTIONAL: Ability to replay old Holiday Events (Like Quests, I know there would be a number of issues involved. So I think limiting this one ONLY to people that did the Event would be suitable here.) Augh... sooo many things! This list goes on, but right now there are too many for me to recall all in one burst. I'll be sure to come back and post more once I trip over them. Until then, pardon me and my dizzy brain... ~D. V. "You will have to read through the whole long-text-wall post, I can't do a 'tl;dr' version for you this time..." Devnull (p.s.: Dire_Wolf, you might want to fix your signature to point at this thread...)
  9. Been there, done that... Started this thread because of both the annoyance, and because I was thinking of everyone else on the forums. (Jokingly put, I'm not too dim of a lightbulb!) ;) Now that one, I'll admit didn't totally dawn on me because I'm at 1024x768, and I forgot about those still at 800x600... :wall: I know I'm probably going to have to wait for Peter to show up at this discussion thread, but I'll leave my next question up in the air for all to see anyway. Are there any other suitable places that a link to the page could be easily placed at, which would also fit properly within the forum's current layout? Further, if there aren't any easy places available, are there any that could still be worked with? ~D. V. "In that case, what are the alternative places at option?" Devnull
  10. I don't get it... Nikoliai reminded OP to back up the files on the laptop, and you're being somewhat hypocritical by scolding those who do not offer such advice (even though he did), and then not offering the advice yourself. Either I didn't notice Nikolai say it, or it wasn't there before. As for myself, if you go back and look at my post carefully, you'll notice I actually did offer that advice in the form of a question. Just for your reference, I'll quote it here... ...so you can see that I did. 'Nuff said... <_< ~D. V. "Surprised you didn't notice..." Devnull
  11. That's the wrong tunnel, GoldTatze... Seriously, we really don't want the entry to the TzHaar City. We're talking about the wall that's a distance away from there to the West, just North of some of the "Lesser Demon (Level 82)" that inhabit the volcano's underground. ;) ~D. V. "Not the tunnel you're thinking of, dude!" Devnull
  12. Hi there! Wait... What? <*Looks at Avatar...*> Idiots? <*Looks at Friends...*> Uhh... No idiots there, so I don't think you have any surrounding you. Glad to see you joined the Tip.It Community, however. =D

  13. Rainy, I really don't think it's that pointless at all. Would you rather spend (and lose) time having to manually steer to 20-50+ profiles? Or, would you rather that you could save time because all the recent updates from your friends were all in one page to view quickly? :?: ~D. V. "Pardon my bluntness... This can't be a hard choice, can it?" Devnull
  14. Probably the same secret passage the above 3 posters mentioned. Just a guess. ragrag, you hit it on the head. ;) thecrowdlm, do you remember that stone wall I mentioned? That is indeed the one with the secret passage built into it. I guess I could still use a little more work on detail... lol  ~D. V. "I hope this helps piece it together for you?" Devnull
  15. Heh... It could do any one of a number of things, including frying the hardware and/or undervoltaging it. None of them are easy to recover from. Sometimes however, you can get back up just by replacing the PSU. Why? Because there was simply not enough power being supplied, and therefore the motherboard and/or peripherals weren't hit by what was going on. ;) ~D. V. "Yeah, I know... It's crazy stuff..." Devnull
  16. First off, Dirkmetal, did you have anything on the drive previously, before you attempted to create the Live Linux System on it? If so, was there anything on that USB Flash Drive that you would have wanted to (and/or should) keep? Second, given that you either didn't have anything or got it all already, you'll want right-click your "My Computer" Icon and select "Manage". Once the "Computer Management" window comes up, you'll want to go down in the tree to "Storage > Disk Management". There, you'll see a set of "Disk #", "CD-Rom #", and other such entries from your computer. At this point, assuming your USB Flash Drive doesn't need re-partitioning, you should be able to right-click the partition from the flash drive and tell it to "Format...", enabling you to at least create a fresh and usable data storage space on the flash drive that you can then re-start your attempt at making a Live Linux System on. :geek: Finally, good luck to you. I've just given myself a headache typing out this post. Anything beyond this point will need Nyosuht's (and/or another Linux Guru's) help to deal with. ~D. V. "I hate a stuck USB Flash Drive..." Devnull (p.s.: I see everyone above me, in the time it has taken me to build this post, has missed a few things including your possibly wanting to save your files on your dead laptop before you went to rebuild. I really hate when people fail to read and miss stuff like that...)
  17. First off, thecrowdlm, have you spoken to Ned in Draynor since your teleport? If not, you might want to do that. You may have to before you can take the boat which you previously used again. :?: Also, you might have the possible option of heading to Musa Point, Karamja via the boat in Port Sarim. It will cost 30 gp, so take that with you. Once across and on the island, head to the volcano. Enter it, and go to the northwest-most point you can walk, which will have a stone wall by it. Search that wall, and you should be able to get through to the tunnel that you were in once before. Walk along (or run, since there's monsters there) in that tunnel until you find the same entry point to Elvarg's Lair that you found before. I hope my directions above help you a bit better. Good luck taking Elvarg down. ;) ~D. V. "Can't believe you tele'd out by accident..." Devnull
  18. Hello, Tip.It Staff... A short time ago, I tripped over the "Community Status Updates" page at http://forum.tip.it/statuses/all... However, it wasn't until the last day or two that I got to thinking, "Why isn't this page linked up to the forum front like just about everything else is? Why is it so heavily buried?"... So, if anyone knows, could you please post back here and tell me? Also, I had an idea just in-case it wasn't meant to be buried like this... Could we have a link up top by "Tracker" or something that would allow the entire TIF Community to be able to get to this page? Being able to quickly access the other half of it, the "My Friends' Updates" (which you can imagine obviously filters by a user's friends list) section, could be quite handy and useful to lots of users here on the forum. ~D. V. "I don't know why, but I have a tendency to trip over weird stuff lately..." Devnull (p.s.: Should I have made a poll to go with this? I dunno. You tell me.)
  19. I'll go ya one better... I think we need a whole board (or sub-board) for anti-bot stuff. That way, the whole TIF Community can collaborate and start helping rid RuneScape of these damn [bleep] bots. ~D. V. "Just a thread? No! You're thinking too small!" Devnull
  20. Uh-oh... Looks like Peter is being stalked by Tripsis... What a reversal of roles! O_O

  21. I think I got it that time. It's definitely complex! Sadly, my head's spinning like crazy now. I don't think I would have done well as an actual programmer, even though I'm good at finding bugs. ~D. V. "Brain... overloaded... *THUD!*..." Devnull
  22. Consider yourself stalked in return... >=P

    (Not really... I'm joking... LOL X-D ...)

  23. Okay, I'm a little confused here. How did I end up with the FF2-based system having an image with non-accurate stats, and the FF3-based system having an image without any stats but "1"s, during that entire period? Did your server keep two different versions at the same time, or was there some kind of header that was sent with the image(s) originally, such that I couldn't bypass the cache on this system with a Ctrl-F5 even though I had also forced the cache to clear? ~D. V. "I'm totally confused here, sorry... Can you please help me make sense of what was happening?" Devnull
  24. Hey, all... Remember pulli23's thread "Add qfc code tags" and Tripsis' post which contained the words... ...from late in that thread? I've been seeing a number of QFC's copied in lately that aren't properly linked to the RSOF, and end up requiring several additional hoops being jumped through in order to get at the thread which a given user is pointing out for one reason or another. So, since this finally made at least me <insert-your-hilarious-choice-of-dark-emotion-here> enough to start this thread, could Tripsis and/or another TIF Admin finally post up an announcement about it? Also, on an alternate note, could we get a button on the Posting Toolbars for the QFC Tag? It would really help in both posting faster, and getting more people to actually use this special custom QFC linkup. ~D. V. "Tripsis, I think we hit that 'something' you were waiting for..." Devnull
  25. If you have the ability to try it, then yes, give it a shot. Worst case, that one just says it can't trigger or looks garbled like OpenGL did. Best case, it alleviates a lot of the strain on your system's CPU. ;) Again, if that doesn't work, don't forget to try the 'Safe Mode' trigger (which I suggested on the bottom of the previous page) by holding 'S' on your keyboard during RuneScape's startup. That is, if you haven't done so already. :geek: ~D. V. "Go for it!" Devnull
