  1. Heck... I'll add to that by asking, "Why don't they just use the 'IP.Board Mobile' theme to make it easy/simple to browse???", because it seems kind of ludicrous that it looks like they aren't thinking of that either. Seriously, it's just one teeny-tiny simple little drop-down... ~D. V. "I think somebody missed something here..." Devnull
  2. I'm gonna 4th what Das, n_odie, and tripsis said... As far as I know, that game hasn't even reached "Closed Beta" status. ~D. V. "No need for a forum... Can't discuss what isn't touchable." Devnull
  3. If something's really on the line often multiple moderators will give their inputs before a decision is made. I don't have an example off hand (perhaps another moderator or admin can post one) but I think as long as the profanity in the song isn't excessive (to the point where there's a swear word in every line of the song) I think most music should be ok. I know one thing that was brought up when we discussed this was getting moderators with interests in certain genres of music to deal with the problems related to the music they listen to. This way they could be more familiar with a certain genre and could make better decisions on where to draw the line. When we say "moderator discretion" we mean that moderators will use their judgment when deciding if something crosses the line. We use moderator discretion when we find it exceedingly difficult to lay out specific rules. By that I mean, we don't find it very realistic to come up with rules like "10 or less swear words in a song is okay, but anything more than that and it is against the rules." As Gandorf said, most music should be fine. We just don't want like an f-bomb in every single line of the song, totaling to like 30+ uses of the word. If you ever have any doubts or are concerned about whether or not something you want to post is appropriate, just PM it to a moderator or administrator and we'll let you know :) Hmm... For the purposes of this discussion, I think I can provide reasonable examples (with clickable linking) of alright and not... Alright -- (The above is only posted as a helpful reference for the discussion!) NOT Alright -- (The above is only posted as a helpful reference for the discussion! Yes, I did censor part of this title... Who wants to read an f-bomb?) These two sound about right for examples of what you meant, tripsis and Gandorf61? :) (Off-topic: In case you're wondering, I did have these bookmarked months prior for times when I'm in a bad mood. No intentional hunting was involved. They just seem handy for this discussion and instance. ;) ... Now, pardon me while I go back to listening to "Parker Meinecke - Tetris Remix Song B [w/ Break]" :P ...) ~D. V. "Just lending a helpful thought in a crazy place..." Devnull
  4. Maybe I'm just crazy, but this makes me [bleep] angry. Personally, I was happier with how it was before, and I really think it should not have changed. You're letting yourselves slip, Tip.It Staff!!! Like, it's not bad enough that I (and anyone else with a well-raised, sensible mind) already have to deal with more profanity now on RuneScape, and that I have to keep that filter always on even though it can mis-censor a number of non-awful things?!? Couldn't Tip.It have stuck to their heavier policy, and kept really foul language out of this rather fine site and its' forums, even in screenshot/video form?!? In my opinion, when Jagex changes something, that honestly should never bring an end to a cleaner/heavier policy on places like Tip.It's Site and Forums. Bending to peer pressures and changing policies only makes it easier in the future to let things devolve, and I know you can imagine where that's gone... <_< ~D. V. "Feeling like I've run into a wall filled with devolution... Heavier, cleaner policies were better..." Devnull
  5. Question for you, since you didn't already tell us: What's your Windows Version? ~D. V. "Damnit, somebody had to ask!" Devnull
  6. I really can't figure out if I should support or not. I might have liked to, but there's some issues that put me on the edge about something like this... :-k First, how would Jagex determine what is a "rare drop"? Would it be based on their drop tables? Would it be based on money value? Would it be based on some kind of level requirement? :-s Second, could something like this be potentially overpowered? Can it allow too many "rare drops" to enter the RuneScape economy, and therefore flood the market too much? :| Third, how many arrows would be displayed at one time, should a player happen to have multiple items drop that are considered "rare drops"? If only one (or multiple) arrow(s), would it only display for the most recent "rare drop(s)" until picked up and then shift, or would it indicate the oldest "rare drop(s)" and then shift to the next least recent? :? Basically, with an idea like this, you're really looking at giving the programmers at Jagex a major headache. This would not be a simple task to code into the game, even as a feature that had the option to not be active. :geek: I'll wait for a response to my questions before deciding a final verdict on an idea/suggestion like this. ~D. V. "It's a nice idea, but there's just some odd things about it..." Devnull
  7. fair tradeoff. I second this. Anyway, everything is now rendering perfectly on my FF2-based (with "Outlook 2003 Blue" theme) loadout. Thanks to you both, Peter and Mil! ~D. V. "Nice fix!" Devnull (p.s.: Just for the funny trivia, it's a good thing I don't use a Noia-type theme... :-w ...)
  8. I would recommend upgrading to the newest version of FireFox as it comes out. These releases always contain lots of bugfixes and security fixes that are designed to improve your browser experience significantly and it helps the internet move forward when people update their software. Just like how Jagex recently said in their Game Engine Q&A, when people use outdated software (they mentioned java specifically) it limits what they can do with the game engine. Similarly when a large percentage of users are still using outdated browsers like Mozilla 2.x and IE 5 and 6, it limits the features a website can pump out unless the website chooses to inconvenience those using older browsers. This is becoming a common practice. YouTube for the last while has been forcing users with old versions of their browser to upgrade so they could leave them behind and focus on those who want new, hip features. Cowman_133, I'm very sorry that I didn't make myself clear as to what I had meant, and therefore caused you to get the wrong impression from my post... :( Albeit on another system I do have FireFox 3.5.7 (and disliking some things on it, won't upgrade to 3.6+ due to "plugin update shoving" which would ruin my increased Java Max RAM usage settings and take control away from my hands ... Keep in mind that, in rare cases, the developers of stuff sometimes don't know better than their users... In my case, I'm a rather odd rare case as a Power User!) to check the forums with, when everything is working right with Tip.It's Forums then it just simply works properly on this older FireFox 2.0.0.6 as well, strangely enough. Don't know entirely why that is, but I'm thankful it does because it enables me to see some problems rather quickly, and still be able to use some things that I like which don't exist (and/or work worse) for later FireFox versions. And that's just let alone the fact that the older browser is much less of a RAM Hog and runs more quickly and cleanly, contrary to popular belief. ;) Now, the real point which I'm trying to make here is that I'm helping to give a scope to how wide the problem is at current. I'm NOT trying to get anyone here to go and add a ton of special support for older browser users. I was simply saying that if the problem is showing on the newer browsers, but the exact same problem is showing on older browsers, then the problem is more massive than the initial scope was thought to be. Further, I'm just here to help identify that it is hitting stuff at a far heavier basic level somewhere in the skin template code of the forums, as this case happens to be. :geek: So, please, don't go off nuts at me just because you see my making a note with "FireFox 2.0.0.6" in it?!?!? ~D. V. "Was not trying to push for compatibility... I'm just trying to help catch the bugs!" Devnull
  9. Daaaaaaaaaaaamn... Sooooo many questions that should have been answered, and weren't... :| Ah well, I might have to start looking at price lookup lists again like those that once existed on Zybez, and they're not a first choice for 'places to look' for me. Heck, I wonder if our semi-cool Tip.It Forums Admins will bring back all those nifty old market sections that were once here on these forums? ~D. V. "Soooo many things to wonder about, things sometimes better set in stone..." Devnull
  10. 'S.O.J.', you have my support... There was a suggestion for something like this a long time ago that got buried, and I still feel that it should have gone through and been made part of RuneScape, like how it is on FunOrb. ~D. V. "This is overdue for happening..." Devnull
  11. Regarding your reply to me...

I just saw your name as having viewed my profile recently, and was left confused... o_O

  12. Ha ha... Awesome! I'll bet Sniper-class players enjoy wearing that item in order to get across how much that their missed shots are "a headache and then some"... Probably results in anyone thinking of attacking them suddenly falling over laughing first. ~D. V. "LOL, Nice!" Devnull
  13. Thanks for the Birthday wishes. =D

  14. Stalking me, are you? =P

  15. Is that really from TF2, GMod'ed, or photoshopped? I don't think the Spy can have a Butcher Knife sticking out of his head like that image depicts. ~D. V. "Spy /w Butcher Knife... Wait, what?!?!?" Devnull
  16. Just so everyone here knows, I've been playing Dead Frontier for many months in a good Flash-based 2D form before it went to pot in a Unity-based 3D form. I seriously recommend against anyone playing this game in the Unity-based 3D form as it currently has all kinds of problems with it, and leaves behind way too many people (even ones with very modern technology) whose systems work better on the Flash-based 2D version. As many of you should know, leaving behind legacy users so harshly is bad for business. Also, the staff there as well as many users have this "elitist snob" attitude about themselves. So stay away, because the community is awful and will get under your skin in a rather bad way. ~D. V. "Don't play Dead Frontier, because it has turned into something awful over there!" Devnull (p.s.: I'm still trying to find something to replace that game in my MMORPG stack...)
  17. I'm going to chock this one up to NTFS Permissions. Unluckily, I have no solution for you as I would have to try something first on this PC I'm at... Embarrassingly, I currently have like 5 or 6 '.jagex_cache_32' folders across 'C:' here due to NTFS permissions being a jerk, and can't get the person I need to help me to take some time with me on it. As for what I'm intending to try, in case you wish to try anyway before I can certify it... If I'm right, it is just a matter of creating a single '.jagex_cache_32' folder at the base level of 'C:' and giving 'Full Control' permissions to the 'Everyone' group. (And no, I don't mean sharing the folder with File/Print Sharing, as that won't have the intended effect.) Probably going to end up with some lunatic security advocate trying to read me the riot act for even mentioning this here... ~D. V. "RuneScape and NTFS don't mix well..." Devnull
  18. I'm confirming that this is a major problem... FireFox 2.0.0.6 here (this browser is danged flexible)...So whatever is going on is hitting everything. ~D. V. "Accursed Bug!" Devnull
  19. Okay, I don't seem to be having your problem... FireFox 2.0.0.6 (old, but good!) here... I think I've got support for other languages (which would probably negate the issue happening) installed on this system, but this Power User account I have won't let me check. BTW, upon further investigation, the page itself is apparently being delivered in the encoding you have selected, as my browser is using the same both under manual and auto-detection settings. Worst case, you might have to reinstall the "Western (ISO-8859-1)" character encoding, if not the FireFox browser as well. But I really hope it doesn't come to that, as it could be a nightmare. :ohnoes: ~D. V. "Looks like an obscure anomaly to me..." Devnull
  20. Just in-case you're taking suggestions on what that button's image could look like, tripsis... I think something like the "R" and "S" from the RuneScape Logo, along with "QFC" or "Forums" below it in plain lettering would make a good self-describing button image. :) ... Albeit, I'll admit that my thought is probably mundane and overly basic. :P ~D. V. "Lettered button, perhaps?" Devnull
  21. Seeing as you mentioned Internet Exploder... What's your Windows Version? It sounds like you may be having a problem with UAC and/or NTFS Permissions. :geek: ~D. V. "Windows Version?" Devnull
  22. I got just one question... FireFox Version? Heck, I might as well ask... What are the urls of the pages you're visiting? ~D. V. "Huh?" Devnull
  23. Just noticed this thread after walking off from this forum for a bit. Thanks for putting this change in place, Peter, and thanks to Tripsis for starting the investigation for us. This will definitely be very handy in the future. However, I do have one more thing to add to this discussion... Could we have a button on the posting bars in order to make this a bit easier, like how we have the button for spoilers right now, please? I'm rather sure there would be more than just myself that would find such a button extremely useful. ~D. V. "Thanks for the new tag... Could we have a button as well, please?" Devnull
  24. Having seen your log copied from Avira, I can tell you exactly what happened. It was unable to find/connect to any of the update servers. Sad to say, but you won't be getting it to update with that happening. :( I might as well ask... Any chance your Avira is out of date? Also, have you told ZoneAlarm that your install of Avira is okay to access the internet? ~D. V. "I hate DNS failures... Okay, might as well ask about those..." Devnull
  25. I could try to crack some stupid joke... but instead, CONGRATULATIONS!!! ~D. V. "Well done!" Devnull
