You HAVE the Tip.It MicroHelper? Damn... That's what's been [bleep]ing you up this whole time! That stupid thing has SERIOUS issues versus Java!!! :wall: I got five words for you as to how to handle it: UNINSTALL THE [bLEEP]ING TIP.IT MICROHELPER!!! :x Put simply, anything that blows up Java while you're doing something you want to do, is something that doesn't belong on your PC... Getting rid of it is your only recourse... In this case, the Tip.It Microhelper is the problem, so it must die... :ugeek: ....... BTW, if you want to see what I mean before you totally delete the thing, disable it first and try things out without it in the way. (Unless the Tip.It Microhelper is coded as bad as another add-on that I know, then disabling it should shut that add-on down completely.) Also, I recommend keeping Tip.It's Website handy in a seperate window from now on, because I know Errdoth hasn't worked out all the bugs in his bloody add-on. Until he does, I seriously recommend that you do not use it. -.- This is a semi-easy fix, and since you already know how to add filters, this will be a snap. Add every line in the hidden section below into ABP's listing... [hide=ABP Filter Listing, Click to view...]advert.runescape.com*banner.ws?size=301 advert.runescape.com*banner.ws?size=728 advert.runescape.com*banner.ws?size=729 advert.runescape.com*banner.ws?size=730 advert.runescape.com*banner.ws?size=734 advert.runescape.com*banner.ws?size=735 advert.runescape.com*banner.ws?size=738 runescape.com#div(class*=adframe) runescape.com#span(id*=vbUrl) runescape.com#div(id*=tb) advert.funorb.com funorb.com#iframe(id*=ad)[/hide] ... and remove other references to RuneScape/FunOrb only if you did not just add them from this listing. (If you had no references to RuneScape/FunOrb before, then you have nothing to remove.) Once all of that is done, never again shall you have anything slowing down RuneScape/FunOrb... : ~Mr. D. V. Not everyone knows how to force high quality... Sure, you can see whodunit, but you can't hear the full quality of their work without the switch. :boohoo: 11,236 ~D. V. "Take a look at my earlier post, if you don't believe me." Devnull -
What980, it is definitely worth upgrading your RAM to 2GB+ ... I've had the chance to see the difference between 512 MB and 1GB alone, and even that is a definite increase. Basically, the more RAM you have, the more you can do... Further, the less chance that anything will ever get squished for needed space, which would cause performance lags. However, don't get more RAM than what you'll need at maximum at any time, as having too much RAM can have its' own issues. (Yes, contrary to popular belief, that can happen... Some ancient games were designed around lower maximum RAM limits, and don't like to run when there is more.) That, and you don't want to leave yourself short in the wallet for available $$$... :geek: Tip: Until you can upgrade your RAM, just try to avoid letting your remaining RAM get below 100MB... Windows gets cranky (and slow) when you have less spare RAM then that. :? ~D. V. "More RAM = Better Performance" Devnull

Except for one thing... The basic link in the applet that you can copy&paste doesn't force high quality mode... This leaves you at the mercy of the youtube website... Do you notice how I always do the extra work to provide the nice versions? \ 11,238 ~Mr. "Nice versions are better." Devnull -
Have you rebooted since the installation of Java 6u10? Also, did you try running antivirus scans? (I've actually heard of viruses that are able to hide while Java is installed... Further, they will keep breaking Java until you remove it, remove the virus, and then put Java back in after. I'd like to think this isn't the case, but who knows...) And lastly, a question you didn't answer earlier... Was there any key event that happened prior to Java breaking like this? Usually, this does not happen unless there's been some connecting event. :? Sounds like an extension that people should be staying away from... :| ~D. V. "I think there's a missing puzzle piece here..." Devnull

11,240 ... New page ... 8-) ... Okay, since you've tried FF2 and IE, and are having the same problems, I can rule out both of your browsers (and therefore ABP also) as being at fault... Anywho, onto the next question... What version of Java are you currently using? And is there anything that could have happened recently to break or cause a fault in your Java version? TBH, you may be right, and do need to just simply reinstall Java... :geek: (Off-Topic: If you wish to have a set of ABP filters for the RuneScape pages that cut off anything bad hitting you while you're at RuneScape's website, feel free to ask. I'll be glad to post them up. :) ...) ~D. V. "From one possible piece to another..." Devnull

pinkbullet3, are you using the ABP (AdBlock Plus) extension? :-s If not, disregard the following questions. :ugeek: However, if you are, is any of the filters killing the applet's loading sequence? Or is it possible that you don't have a needed filter in place, and that is killing the browser due to some bad content incoming alongside the Java App, which would then prevent your being able to play RuneScape? :geek: ~D. V. "Anti-Assumption" Devnull (p.s.: I use ABP myself, and can help fix some issues with that...)

<*DVD points at his answer to Angat14*> ....... Lending won't work, because it just comes right back to the owner and their bank after just so many hours at maximum. :notalk: Since it is already rc'ed, all that can be done is to drop or sell. Personally, I still recommend my earlier idea of selling the 2200+ "Air Tiara" that Taloopis has, over on W16, and for about 400 gp ea... That happened to be the price I was able to sell at the last time I had the same kind of problem. :geek: ~D. V. "Too late, it had already been crafted." Devnull

Wont happen is right, and, I dont support. Simply put; we dont need it. And it would be massively abused. People can get around the chat filter as it is, so if you put one on this it still wouldnt do anything to prevent abuse. What about if a right-click option for reporting was added to the examine text, allowing quick reporting if it is offensive? Or maybe just adding a rule option to handle that in the usual reporting interface? Keep in mind, the only way that Jagex catches rule-breakers, other than their watching systems, is the community that plays. \ ~D. V. "This is still good, with the right design." Devnull

Hi, Ly7! 8-) You won't need to spend anything more than just time, because gp can't be spent on the following items, which have a skill requirement to become able to wear them... If you have 50+ RuneCrafting, go play the "Great Orb Project" minigame, found at the RuneCrafting Guild. And in case you don't know where the RuneCrafting Guild is, go to the 2nd floor of the Wizards Tower, and look for the nifty purple portal that's in the wall near the stairs. Once you have around 5000 tokens, buy the whole pack of Yellow RuneCrafting Robes, which I think costs about 4000 tokens. I think you will find that they go rather excellently with the Mudskipper Hat and Flippers. And here's some links so you can get an idea of all of it... : http://tip.it/runescape/index.php?rs2item_id=4355 -- (Mudskipper Hat) http://tip.it/runescape/index.php?page=great_orb_project.htm#rewards -- (Look a small way further down this for the images of the yellow runecrafting robes... I'm gonna agree with all those who want the fraction kept. Personally, I also use it in combat to keep myself from ending up dying and going back to Lumbridge. :? Alright... it is time that I, an F2P'er with a balanced-yet-crazy tangent, weighed in on this... :ugeek: It can not be ignored that F2P has gotten a lot of updates in the past year. Sure, some are so [bleep] that it has left both F2P and P2P complaining. But yes, there are good/awesome ones in the mix. :D Now, with that out of the way, the following opinion must be said: The quest that Jagex has made open to F2P only during Halloween 2008 is rather nice. In my opinion again, it would be best left open, as a milestone and memorial to Jagex having had RS's second incarnation active for 4.5+ Years since release. Maybe release one quest per Halloween Holiday or two after this, but nothing quicker than that, milestones of RS's continued survival. And as for skills, Jagex could safely release only the amount of Fletching back into F2P that's needed for F2P's ranged options as an additional standing memorial... At least, this seems safe to do, what with the G.E. having killed 99.99999% of any possible methods of RWT forever. Beyond that, I think the design of F2P is basically finished, except for adding corrupt items for F2P Range/Mage to PvP... Unless you count one last minor addition of Bank Space in a couple years as an item to do. :? If Jagex did all of that, I'd be perfectly happy. I can't see anything beyond that which F2P could want and/or need... Unless you count those newbs/noobs who are yelling about a lack of CTF in F2P. ~D. V. "Just a few medium/small things left to reach completion..." Devnull -
I'll support "Safe PvP" only. =; The "Dangerous PvP" worlds are meant to be challenging, both to the player who is attacked, AND the attacker. If it isn't a challenge to find someone you can sink your teeth into and get a fight out of, then what fun is it? These changes you suggest to those elements would basically make it too hard for the attacked to get away from their attacker, thereby effectively giving free drops to anyone who attacks another person. There is seriously no way that the current PvP Worlds' Design should ever change in that manner. :ugeek: ~Mr. D. V. "You really should think about what you suggest." Devnull

Yomyth105, I'm surprised that you don't remember my recent post in another thread about this kind of thing. However, to help you along, I've copied it over from the other thread. Read on, and delight in wisdom... 8-) [quote name=From the post at viewtopic.php?p=6195264#p6195264 by D_V_Devnull, it was]I actually answered something similar to this recently. :geek: ... However, here we go... The S.O.S.'s First Floor (War) is a rather good place to train and get a whole boatload of stuff. You'll wish to fight the "Minotaur (Level 27)"s in the room in the southeast. Bring 150 Iron Arrows, 1 Maple Shortbow, Full Green D'hide, Leather (NOT Fighting) Boots, Power Ammy, 1 Coif, and 4 Lobsters/Swordfish... Use the barrier in that room to range over and kill monsters to your heart's content, taking damage only if you make slight mistakes, and gaining a near-endless supply of copper/tin (which you'd probably sell later) ores, Rune Essence, and more Bronze/Iron Arrows than you can shake a stick at. I think you'll find yourself quite happy with your outcome... Especially since this can be done completely by yourself, without help. And in case you're curious, I currently have '68 Ranged' only because I'm trying to train (and catch up) skills right now, otherwise my combat stuff would probably be a bit higher. However, I can certify that my advice will get you to 75 comfortably. Further, you'll get it without the problem of accidentally losing your stuff because you decided to try and AFK your training, which usually results in a nasty random event monster showing up. ~Mr. D. V. "When training, be there... Don't AFK..." Devnull I seriously hope this keg of info helps you, Yomyth105 ... I'm certain the endless drops will benefit you greatly ... ~Mr. "Wisdom reappears in threads..." Devnull
