  1. I can imagine in my mind what you mean. Just remember you don't have to do that here, as Tip.It isn't full of color-coding hotheads... Okay, I looked at the HJT log... the only line I find questionable is this... ... which was caught by Tip.It's forum software. Can you elaborate on what the filter blocked? :?: Or just hope that someone remembers that they don't have to use that miserable (in my opinion) color coding... Bah, maybe I'm just slightly lazy... LOL  Ouch... And this is one lovely CRT (ViewSonic E70f+SB) for gaming. :anxious: ... Is this theme tuned more for LCD screens? It sure renders nicely on this CRT, even though some text colors don't render well versus a medium-dark grey. :-s ... Bah, maybe it's my eyes' internal color balance. -.- ~D. V. 2. Last thoughts on my font color issue.................... I can not read any of the teal/turquoise stuff, pryomancer. Are you sure your monitor is tuned right? I know mine is, and I'm on the Default TIF (Tip.It WebSite) Theme... :( ~D. V. "Still can't properly read it." Devnull Try turning on Cleartype; I find any text hard to read without it anyway. Right click on desktop > properties > appearance > effects > use font smooothing > ClearType Thank you for the suggestion, SilverSword. :) However, I have tried that before (as well as just now, after you suggested it) with what limited options I have, and it doesn't work for me, possibly because I'm on a CRT monitor (although that just as likely doesn't factor) ... Also, everything looks perfectly sharp with standard (non-cleartype) font smoothing. Further, because I'm not the admin here, I can't go and run the calibration wizard (which requires access to MS's stuff) for several reasons, including the admin's valid paranoia of WGA and how MS is forcing it on everyone lately. :( (In case you're curious, we had a run-in with the Blaster Worm -- the ONLY time we've ever been had -- back in late 2004, and then had hell rebuilding a completely fresh system install, because MS's registration center was stupidly assuming we were pirates when we'd paid money to them for a copy of their software. Then we heard of the kill switch that MS put in their WGA system, and it was like instant law dropped on me. "No WGA allowed.") Enough of my bad luck, however, as I don't wish to be hijacking a topic with a font color issue. If folmer_veeman can just post a non-colorized version, like I usually see from everyone else, I'll be perfectly fine. Even one without the teal/turquoise color (e.g., they'd just use default color instead) would be good. : Again, SilverSword, thank you for trying to help, even though it didn't work. <*DVD gives SilverSword a fresh bag of chocolate chip cookies.*> ~D. 4. Please do keep in mind, everyone, that I meant this thread to only be as a suggestion to expand the current répertoire of emoticons. Never to take away or overwrite any. In fact, I would agree with those who want some of the phpBB2 ones to return, but I would rather that they were added alongside the phpBB3 counterparts, even if that meant setting up a new grid of emote codes. Onward with the discussion and thoughts!!! ~D. V. "Expand with oldies, not destroy." Devnull (p.s.: Evil_Mumm_Ra has hair... that "ugeek" emote doesn't.)
  5. Can you wait long enough for us to ask for it like a christmas present about 2 years from now? If so, we may stand a chance. If not, we're probably stuffed. :-X ~D. V. "We're better careful, than sorry." Devnull
  6. Yes, there may be one... Provide WinXP with the driver files needed to operate in RAID mode, then switch the system back into RAID mode, and it should detect everything and boot right. At least, that's assuming the info in those links I gave earlier is correct. However, before trying, BACKUP YOUR COMPUTER!!! I will not be at fault for a ruined WinXP installation, or anything that damages Vista, when making a backup will allow you to just set time back to where it was before you began this process... :ugeek: ~D. V. "Risky, but with the right practices and precautions, it may work." Devnull
  7. Uhhhhhhh... I can't read the HJT log you've posted, because you're using so many dull colors, and I'm on the Tip.It WebSite Theme... Can you please repost the HJT log without all the color tagging? Thanks in advance. 8-) ~D. V. "Auuuuuuugh, my eyes!" Devnull
  8. Basically, if someone didn't like youtube and wanted to destroy the site, then they might write something to attempt to zombify computers. To which, then the virus-writer would direct the zombified computers to act like youtube is giving users trouble, and attack youtube at some unspecified time. :| However, since you didn't find anything, I guess we can possibly rule that out? :anxious: Pull up a command prompt window and type in (without quotes) "tracert www.youtube.com", which will provide you with a list of routers on your way to there from where you are, as well as ping times both within your home setup and at the far end (youtube) itself. :) Also, just in case of anything, can you provide a HJT log? There probably won't be anything of worry, but I can't know without looking. :geek: ~D. V. "I'd like to know where this problem really is." Devnull
  9. Thank you for dropping in... Here's some quick thoughts to answer your reservations. :) If you wish to make some, go for it, and bring them back with you to this thread to suggest adding them to the forums. I am simply picking ones on the web because I lack the ability at this time, in part due to a brain that's having a little "artist's block" in trying to think up stuff. I think there's also a case of users claiming staff are being biased for choosing one emoticon over another...pretty sure that was the main reason for not having them. As I said in my earlier posts, I have invited discussion over each one that is displayed, such that there may be a quorum of users who ultimately wish to have one emote or another. This, logically, would therefore certify the emotes' validity to Tip.It Staff to be added to the Forum's options, as there would be both reasonable want and use. :geek: But, that one takes on more of a "What?!?!?" or "Uhhhhh..." persona... While the one I started this thread with is more of a 'about to turn into a nervous wreck' "Ggggaaaahhhh!!!!!" persona, far different from what the one we already have depicts. :| good for you? Just your usage of that emote proves what I just said up above in this post. You may not want it yourself, but for all that anyone can know, there may be a large enough group who would want something like that particular one. 8-) As for this..................... :twss: I have no idea what you are talking about. I can work on some animated ones tonight DV. Give me examples of something you would like to see. While I'm probably not going to come up with all the ideas, things like 'magic hats', 'ranged weaponry', and 'PvP' come to mind. Also, stuff like 'theiving', 'ninjas', and 'farming' would be interesting options to add to the selection, seeing as there are both fighters and skillers in RuneScape... ~D. V. 10. folmer, have you run AntiVirus/AntiSpyware scans? It sounds to me like you've been hit with an "Anti-Youtube Virus" of some kind. Also, if it isn't a virus, have you checked your privacy filtering, as well as a traceroute from your PC to the youtube site (and servers)? :-s ~D. V. 11. 11,305 Hey, Gallade64, could you please attach proper link credits to your video posts? Thanks in advance! ;) ~D. V. "Credit links are a must." Devnull
  12. Welllll I dont know who I would credit it too :P Post there 81-82-25-57825909 and Ill give you credit. IF Kill_Life can even post there. I could be wrong, but his stats appear to be 100% F2P, like my own. :-k ~D. V. "Not sure if that can be done." Devnull
  13. Alright, so we have a problem before we can even get close to finishing up linking FSX to WinXP... While I was not encouraging dropping XP in (I was saying to hold off, as per my last post) just yet, I must now ask the following questions because you tried it and didn't have good luck... What model of HP (Or possibly Compaq, if it is such?) computer do you happen to have, and what further specs can you provide to us from Vista's information? Also, prior to your attempt to install WinXP, was there any possibility of a virus on your system? And was there any special hardware you had in place, such as a SATA drive? BTW, as it stands, all the initial indicators I'm seeing on the web are pointing at SATA issues, so down below is a couple more articles to read... Sadly, I do not fully know at the moment if these will help. :| http://www.windowsbbs.com/hardware/72538-bsod-crash-during-xp-install.html http://news.softpedia.com/news/Install-Windows-XP-On-SATA-Without-a-Floppy-F6-47807.shtml Also, here's the search I ran which led me to those... It may be the same search that Mamong ran, but I don't know... http://www.google.com/search?num=30&hl=en&q=0x0000007B+%280xF78D2524%2C+Oxc0000034%2C+0x00000000%2C+0x00000000%29&btnG=Search ~D. V. 16. Let's hold off on installing XP for a moment, then. Can you tell us what File System (FAT32/NTFS/etc.) that the current FSX is installed on? Even if I'm not the first to come up with the answer to your problem, answers to questions like these will help in finding the solution. :-s Possibly quite to the contrary. Some systems are better-suited to running certain things on an XP core than they are on a Vista core. To which, they will perform better on XP instead of Vista. This isn't always the case, but it does happen. :geek: ~D. V. "What's your drive type?" Devnull
  17. Possibly. I just went with the first word I could think of. #-o BTW, here's another one, special for all those who give 'virtual cookies' to others around the forums... (Image URL: http://www.enchantedlearning.com/Cookie.GIF) ... and yes, it would need a little shrinking before usage on these forums... But what do you think? Would it be good? :D ~D. V. "D'oh!" Devnull
  18. I have two questions before I can even make any kind of attempt at answering that, seeing as no one else answered it already. Can you read the drive/partition that FSX is on while you're in Windows XP? Also, can you read the OS partition for Vista itself, while in XP? :?: ~D. V. "I may be crazy, but I'm willing to help if I can." Devnull
  19. Nevermind guys. Problem fixed. Genious me! :P Can you at least tell us how you fixed it, so that newbies who come here will have information that they can really work with? It does not do any good to just say you fixed it! Think about the next person who will have your problem, will you, please? ~D. V. "More details, please!" Devnull (p.s.: I'm banging my head off a wall over how many people do this! :wall: ...)
  20. Hello, everyone... While reading through the forums earlier today, I tripped over this nifty emote image which user 'Denismage' (whom I thank for causing me to have this idea in the first place!!!) happened to use... (Image URL: http://www.di-rs.com/forums/style_emoticons/dark/shok.gif) ...and thought, "Now that is something we should add to Tip.It's set of emotes.", as it describes a feeling that (in my opinion) none of the other emotes we currently have happen to describe. So, I wonder what the rest of you think of it? Would you like to have this, too? :) Also, as to the 2nd half of my thread title... It hit me, "Why not leave it open for others to suggest an emote they think is worth adding?" :-k ... To which I then thought, "Yes, that would be a good idea, as it would spur more paths of discussion, and comparison arguments, which would make sure only the best options got added to the forums." ... So, I'm leaving open the option for anyone else with an idea for an emote to add to suggest it here. SUGGEST AWAY!!!!!!! 8-) ~Mr. D. V. "Emotes, Anyone?" Devnull
  21. 11,322 I'm debating whether or not to post another video... any votes either way? :-s ~D. V. "Choose please!" Devnull
  22. Maybe... Although I do try to listen in on the threads in here, if possible, so I can at least attempt (even if I fail miserably because I missed something ... #-o ...) to understand the Tip.It Staff hierarchy, as well as what limits there is in the site structures. :-w :anxious: ~D. V. "Must... learn... more!!!" Devnull
  23. Getting away from the "PC vs. Mac" volcano again for a few........................... No worries, I was talking more about users and basic servers also, as per the context of my post. I understand that normal servers need more. ... Also, I was not thinking that much about Apple, seeing as I could wish they would take such a slapping that they would have to regain the reputation they had before the Mac before they would profit again. (BTW, I'm actually expecting laura0077 to flame me over that opinion. :P ...) And you realize that WoW stands for World Of Warcraft, right? Yes, I do... I just didn't want it to seem vague, say, if a newbie came through and read this thread. ;) ... (That, and I will admit to being at least a little bit redundant, LOL! #-o  ...) My uncle, who has been programming since the dark ages, was telling me about a question being asked about 25 or so years ago: Why would you need 64k of ram? What could possibly take that much? I'll let you (and in extension, him) have the point on that one. I still remember the document that I had to type up on an 'Apple ][e' (Yes, one of those PRODOS sweeties!) in AppleWorks v4, and the application needed the expanded 1 MB RAM card that we had installed in there in Slot Zero... Which reminds me, I still remember being the <insert a clean self-insult here> that located a bent pin on one of the RAM chips on the RAM expansion card... Which between my dad and I, we repaired rather nicely... :? I don't think more will have to be said. ... However, I will admit that I find myself slightly confused, as I personally wouldn't need more than 3GB of RAM at any time myself, given the bloat-code of OSes we use these days. (Although I've been doing my stuff so far inside of 1GB, with a heck of a lot of Virtual Memory overhead, sometimes coming close to out-of-RAM issues.) But, I can imagine some of the things that might cause need of 8GB, such as making stuff like those nifty digital renderings at sites like Visual Paradox, batches of photos, huge websites, and (as I mentioned before) those monstrous databases and game worlds. : ~D. V. "We must use RAM like as if we were gobbling Ice Cream, huh?" Devnull
  24. LOL  ... Call me crazy, for I thought that some of the server permissions were only changeable by Silverion himself. ~D. V. "Bah, I'm nuts..." Devnull
  25. 11,325 At least they fixed it before I saw it. Otherwise, we would have had something explosive happen in here, big time. :P ~D. V. "They barely escaped my gank-hammer..." Devnull
