  1. 11,420 And I'll start the new page. <*Makes that laughing sound that Ernie makes.*> :twss: ~Mr. "Let's keep going!" Devnull
  2. gongusan, call me crazy, but it sounds like your sound system is failing on that computer. That, or you have got one hell of a short somewhere in it. :geek: (BTW, I have to keep my volumes on anything @ 85% or less, or suffer problems with my ears later. :( ... That's just how strong of sound systems I work/play with here.) ~D. V. "Sound... lovely when the system works." Devnull
  3. 11,425 That happens to remind me... teh_langzor should also read page 1 of this thread, if they haven't already... 8-) That also reminds me... I haven't 'emoted' in some time. ~D. V. "Here comes the *BOOM*, ready or not!" Devnull
  4. Then I must have the worst luck (at least, that's what I figure...) in the world??? :ohnoes: That would not be as great as you think, and would put too much strain on Moderators. -.- TBH, what would be much better is to have some form of Forum Modification that would keep at least one or two 'backup versions' of the opening post. Obviously, Mods/Admins would then have the ability to revert opening posts to those backup states, and leave a warning in the violator's private message box, should it be necessary to combat such a problem as this. :geek: ~D. V. "Backups = Good thing to have..." Devnull
  5. runescapeloser22 might also want to check what their NAS device shows as on their router's DNS list. It could be possible it got changed somehow, even though this possibility is VERY unlikely. :geek: ... Of course, if it has happened, it could be a signal of a hacker in the network, or someone else having changed the DNS name that is provided to the router. :uhh: ~D. V. "Weirder network issues have happened..." Devnull (OT: BTW, is this the same person who had a network space allocated for them by their dad? If so, they may wish to ask their dad a few questions.)
  6. I'm also against this. :shame: ... I've seen some "niche groups" around here... They usually are NOT open to new people, which would cause extreme negative bias around the forums... In turn, that would only lead to frustrations, upsets, arguing, and eventually a need for Moderators to get involved in proportions that cause (yes, even them) to get upset... :wall: As a last thought, you can trust me when I tell you, we really do NOT need that happening, at all. :ugeek: ~Mr. D. V. "Are you [bleep]ing mad?!?!?" Devnull
  7. The reason I was hoping for a Global, is that it is happening in MORE than just one board. Go look at T&C, and maybe a few in others, if you wish to have a good idea of what I'm talking about. Maybe I just have bad luck for running into these, but they are definitely an issue that needs to be stopped. :-k ~Mr. D. V. "It is bigger than you think..." Devnull
  8. Go read the "Countdown from 1000" thread... The answer is there... And just to speed you along, here is a direct link to it... http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=517114 11,427 ~Mr. D. V. "I love to 'gank'..." Devnull
  9. Now I feel so non-original. Worse, I'll have a hell of a time finding another good one. :wall: 11431 ~D. V. "Bleh. <*facepalms*> ..." Devnull
  10. wilcher, RAM is not the same as 'Hard Disk free space' ... Therefore, the number in regard to how much PC2700 RAM that you have is basically useless, sad to say. :( ... Please go to your "My Computer" window, and retrieve the number under "Free Space" for your "C:" Hard Disk, so that we can understand your situation better? TBH, I find it extremely surprising that you are potentially out of space on your Hard Disk. :geek: ~D. V. "Confusing terminology stinks!" Devnull
  11. jimmyw3000, I recommend not using any utility for removing the remaining parts of Norton... Instead, I recommend backing up your whole registry, and manually going in and removing the parts by hand, preferably with a sheet of paper (or two) next to you with a listing of all the keys that Norton would ever create in your registry. :geek: (BTW, I know some people are going to go nuts... But, that's how I and someone else got rid of Norton here, and made sure it was really gone. Norton's tool didn't do the job back then.) ~D. V. "Sometimes, the right way is not another program." Devnull
  12. Actually, it would have been the hosts file, unless IE's sites listings had been messed with and/or the properties for the network connection and its' modules. However, having read all the damage that VARN mentioned, I would say that whatever got on his PC managed to reach all the way to the TCP/IP stack. Further, that it was designed to avoid messing with most of the usual places, thereby defeating any and all kinds of normal defense against it. :geek: Only one chance of recovering that old PC remains, if it happens (Note: VARN did say that it was no longer around, but I'm just being an optimist in the current context...) to be sitting in a back corner somewhere... Eset's NOD32 AntiVirus... that is, if VARN could even reach http://www.eset.com and download (and install) the application. :? Man, I'm so glad that I'm such a propeller-head that I can't ever end up with these kinds of problems. :ohnoes: ~D. V. "That old PC may be really [bleep]ed." Devnull
  13. I also have to agree. One of my biggest peeves is that people fail to have common sense and just put those hide tags on their original post data, after which they could add their new question... They really should never go wiping out what the first 'n' posts answered. Maybe we could ask the Admins to put up a Global Announcement in regard to this? :-s ~D. V. "I hate lost questions..." Devnull
  14. I thought it only cost around $10 to buy some cds  . Oh sorry, it was $8 for 7 go of memory, the $140 was for the external HD thingy. So, you would rather pay $1.14/1GB of data storage space, instead of $0.28/1GB??? Why would you want to use up that much money for so little space??? Your current chosen method of data storage is utterly cost-ineffective!!! :shame: ~D. V. "Methinks you really need to recheck your math..." Devnull
  15. 11,434 Ugh. -.- ....... Alright, time to voice my disappointment as to how slow things have become here... "Come On. Step It Up" by 'Shippiddge', posted via "Machinima.com's account"... mkyNxEgKALw (BTW, I haven't disabled the related features, and haven't checked them. Browse at your own risk!!!) BTW, I don't think Link is going to be happy about that happening... :notalk: ~Mr. D. V. "Dangit, let's get it in gear!!!" Devnull
  16. Salad170, you sound like you need an External HD to save a ton of your stuff on... :geek: ... Unless you really like the idea of trimming away parts of the original files that you might want later... :P ... The following External HD should do: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136170 Enjoy! 8-) ~D. V. "You need more storage, really." Devnull
  17. I'm starting to hit the point of agreeing with you... Just for starters, Serif's PhotoPlus is a dog to handle... But then I actually got to play with GIMP on a fresh Linux distro (Ubuntu 8.04, Gnome Interface ... Starting to think KDE is better, though, from what I'm hearing.) while helping someone else just 1 time, and I have to say I liked it somewhat. Maybe a few things I could ask for, but I'm sure I haven't checked enough of it out yet to know whether I need to bother the GIMP Devs or not... :-k ~D. V. "Yum... Open-Source Stuff." Devnull
  18. Try checking the features on the products at Serif Software ... I have no idea if it will meet your needs, but it doesn't hurt to check and/or try, does it? :-s ~D. V. "I really do not like Sony after that rootkit mess." Devnull
  19. Seconded... The buttons should be at the bottom of the post on all the themes. Further, the post time/date stamp should be at the top of the post, so that some [bleep] doesn't come along and start bumping a 32-week-old thread. (Probably exaggerating a teensy bit, but you get what I mean.) I always thought things might be a hair out-of-order, but now it has been confirmed for me. :-k ~Mr. D. V. "Yep, time to fix those themes..." Devnull
  20. Okay... I gotta explode here................................ Why the hell does it say RC then? When a software has rc after it's name, i interperate it as "release candidate". Yes, I am quite well aware of the naming schema that Java uses for its release-candidates. However, could you please explain this page, since I can't see "RC" anywhere on there? Guys, COOL THE HELL DOWN!!! It really is at all possible that salad170 downloaded his version of JRE v6u10 well BEFORE Sun Microsystems went and released the final stable version level. To which case it would be no wonder that they have that bloody "rc" marker on their version!!! :ugeek: Now, let's all sit back and wait to hear from salad170 as to what their results are with JRE v6u7 ... Personally, I hope it did happen to work for them. : ~D. V. "Pedantic arguments tick me off, dangit..." Devnull
  21. Hmm... I'd recommend 'FireFox v2.0.0.16' instead... It is the highest version I know of that I've heard absolutely no problems about (more than likely because either they have not been mentioned, or that there just have not been any) in regard to RuneScape. That, and 'Java 6 Update 6 Runtime'... :geek: ~D. V. "Sometimes the latest is NOT the best..." Devnull
  22. Yes, that is true. Sorry for the damper, but you both happen to be mistaken. Some time back, I remember Microsoft releasing this MSN-related toolbar of theirs, and it added tabbing functionality to IE6. :geek: I'll have to see if I can track an article down to show you the proof, that is, if someone else doesn't come along with it first... :-k UPDATE: Here's the link  http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/msn_search_toolbar_wds.asp ~D. V. "I'm sure your mistake is accidental." Devnull (p.s.: I'm one of those "pro-FireFox" crazy people... However, I don't mind dropping in pieces of IE-related truth.)
  23. Any chance you could tell us which add-on, so we can all stay far clear of it? I think we would all hate to get crash-landed by it. :geek: ~Mr. D. V. "Please fill us in, would you?" Devnull
  24. Yeah, pretty sure it is. I'm using JRE 6 Update 10. According to the Java website I'm using a version that is "Newer than the current version available on Java.com", what the implications of that are, I don't know. Sounds like you're using a version of Java that's still in beta somewhat. :-k ... I suggest reverting to JRE 6 Update 6 if you wish to have as little trouble as possible with Java. (BTW, yes, that's the version I'm using here, and having no issues with it.) I'm able to minimize and restore repeatedly without any ill effects whatsoever. :) As a tip: When trying to remain secure, try to avoid sacrificing compatibility. You will be much more happy, and you will not have to deal with so many of those "cutting-edge" bugs. : ~D. V. "Max compatibility + Max security = Perfection." Devnull
  25. Actually, you made it a bit clearer for me. Thanks. : ~D. V. "Not so confused now..." Devnull
