Abortion: Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA)
There is no scientific consensus regarding the point in which a foetus is alive, there are scientists who claim it is as early as conception (not many I'd like to stress) where as there are others who put that time at much later in the pregnancy (some still argue that it isn't alive until it is delivered). Now the Holocaust was the systematic attempt to erase an entire race of people from the planet for no other reason other than they were a historical scapegoat. An abortion is a medical procedure that is most often carried out in the best interests of the Mother and in many cases the best interests of the child. A procedure that is often carried in cases of rape and often where the mother is at great risk. To compare the two is such a simplistic manner is hysterical and nonsensical. I don't mind people being anti-abortion - beleive what you want - but that comparison is ridiculous.

Abortion is murder of innocent people, so was the holocaust. Pretty good grounds for a comparison I think That is your opinion not cold hard fact. I think you're a nutter for comparing the Holocaust to abortions but that doesn't make it so. Quite frankly I think this has went from a reasonable well thought out discussion into a ridiculous hysterical nightmare thread.

Religious Politics
Nobody said that it wasn't effecting politics, people were saying that it shouldn't.

Comparing abortions to the Holocaust, have you guys lost all sense of proportion?

Abortion: Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA)
I only asked as a lot of conservatives (I don't know you're political beliefs) hark on about freedoms but only when its freedoms that they like, so I was really just testing the waters. You avoided hypocrisy well, bravo  . Although I liked the size as it was.

Rap
I go by KRS One's definition of things. Hip Hop is a culture that involves Dj'ing, Graffiti writing, breakdancing and MC'ing (Rapping). Rapping is a musical form of Hip Hop culture. So if you're talking about hip hop in relation to music you're talking about rap anyway. I only ever see these differentiations between rap & hip hop online however, I never see the distinction made on websites that are actually about hip hop. So the terms to me, are pretty interchangeable.

Abortion: Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA)
I'd disagree. Americans tend to be the most irresponsible with their choices, and there is the opposite side that values the LIFE over the CHOICE. So by that logic (life over choice) you're against the right to bear arms as well? I mean guns kill and you state that Americans are irresponsible... Note I'm personally pro-choice and anti-firearms but I'm playing devil's advocate slightly here

Religious Politics

Doesn't Ireland still have a lot of restrictions regarding abortions?

The Inauguration of Barrack Obama: So Annoying
Is it wrong that I think Cheney looks like Mr Potter from "It's a Wonderful Life" in all the pictures of this event? It's quite fitting though. [/hide] I don't believe for a second that Cheney was injured. When I saw him come out in his wheelchair, the first thing I thought was, "Wow, [bleep]y doesn't think anyone will criticize a man in a wheelchair, what a slime ball." No millionaire on Earth, let alone a millionaire as old as he is with as many cancerous medical problems as he has would ever "pick up boxes" while moving. They pay people. He wanted sympathy, and didn't want to be booed at the inaugural ceremonies. The lows that this man will go to have no ends. I wouldn't go as far as that. During the inauguration, one of the BBC journalists jokingly suggested that he put his back out while trying carry boxes of paperwork for shredding. Not even the media has sympathy for Cheney.

Religious Politics
While America does have the legal seperatation of church and state, religion plays a big (yet indirect) role in politics. I mean just look at the election, both candidates went out of their way to appeal to religious groups, it was a big part of Palin's appeal. But they're not forcing religion on anyone. In fact they are fundamentally recognizing a person's right to his own choice of religion in trying to appeal to it. You really can't expect religion to be completely cut off from any political influence in any kind of society, but the separation of church and state ensures that religion and politics can't unite into something like a theocracy and deny the freedom of religion to citizens. I'm not saying that they're forcing it on people but I'm saying that it does play a big role in American politics, certain policies are always pushed to appeal to religious groups. America is miles away from being a theocracy but religion plays a bigger role in American politics than it does in many others. In Britain for example Alistair Campbell (Tony Blair's Spin Doctor) famously claimed "We don't do God" I just couldn't imagine any American political figure ever saying that.

Religious Politics
I don't feel that religion should have a place in politics. A politician's job is to represent all of their constituents regardless of race or religion therefore, to base your policies solely upon your religious beliefs means you are only representing a single select group. Sure, you can use your religion to instil a set of morals but you have to have greater reasoning to your views/policies than "it's in the bible" (or whatever religious text that you follow). While America does have the legal seperatation of church and state, religion plays a big (yet indirect) role in politics. I mean just look at the election, both candidates went out of their way to appeal to religious groups, it was a big part of Palin's appeal. Slightly off topic but I can't see an atheist President in America in my lifetime but if there is one, I wonder how they'd deal with the oath of office.

The Gaza Strip
Then I stand corrected, I was just using your link as my source which was either wrong or that I misinterpreted.
-
The Gaza Strip
What were the Israeli troops doing on the Gaza side after vowing to pull out? Clearly infringing on their own terms. Does that condone killing somebody - no. However, it does show that this isn't quite as clear cut as you portray it.

Abortion: Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA)
If I had a daughter: 1) I'd hope that I had done a good enough job as a parent to ensure that if she was having underage sex that she would take precautions to avoid becoming pregnant in the first place. 2) If she did fall pregnant I would hope that she would feel comfortable coming to tell me she was pregnant, in the knowledge that I wouldn't force my beliefs on abortion onto her. Unfortunately, many parents do force their children to do what the parent wants in these situations

Meat lovers vs. Vegetarians
If there was less demand for meat people wouldn't breed as many cows to feed the demand and thus there would be less emissions. Your logic doesn't work.

Unusual Foods and Drinks.
They're soaked in a brine for a while and then they're preserved for a few weeks so they're pretty much rotten but somehow still edible.

Ordered and received. CD's and DVD's.
Ordered I don't know why I went on a Scorsese/Religious film route, they just happened to be going cheap in the Play.com sale.

Unusual Foods and Drinks.
Sweetbread is the most disgusting thing I can think of, eating those bits of animals is wrong just wrong. The idea of eating Thousand Year Old Eggs repulses me as well. That sounds quite nice, I just looked it up on Wikipedia it's called Dinuguan in Filipino right? I don't mind blood being used in food, some Italian recipes use blood to thicken out pasta sauces and I like Black Pudding.

Rap
You have to love Souljaboy, he made big predictions for his albums sales but after it went double copper he turns round and blames Nas for killing hip hop because he had an album called Hip Hop is Dead. He even applauded slavemasters for bringing black people to America because in America they can get "tattoos and ice".

The Gaza Strip
Did anyone read about Olmert stating that if any Israeli's are convicted of war crimes committed during the conflict that they would receive full state protection against prosecution. It is an absolute scandal, it basically gives soldiers carte blanche to do what they want. If you feel you have conducted a morally virtuous war how can you then sit back and claim that your soldiers are above prosecution if they have violated international law? If Israel felt that they have done nothing wrong during this war why haven't they being open and transparent throughout? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7850085.stm

Free Speech: The Freedom to Hate, The Freedom to Love
Atheism is still a belief - the belief there is no god and a rejection of theism. I deliberately didn't say religious beliefs.

Free Speech: The Freedom to Hate, The Freedom to Love
It's not like this guy doesn't have a track record either. I don't belong to any religion (being a hopeful but skeptical agnostic) but when people take passages of any holy book literally, then it distorts the true meaning of the faith.

Muslim Radicalism - Good or Bad? (Justified or Not)
Lmao Christian kids are leaving the faith because they run into atheism and liberalism. This guy is brilliant, where does he come up with this stuff?
