  1. I quoted you because you made a post which I was commenting on. All I meant was that in any scenario (hypothetical or not) he would have to be treated by the same legal principles as everyone else. I don't care about your personal view on it either way, I just pointed out that if hypothetically he wasn't a natural born citizen he would be innocent until proven guilty which related to your post. I wasn't making a partisan point. Look, if I had known you were so sensitive I wouldn't have bothered. I'll tell you what, I'll order you a dummy (pacifier since you're an American) and some tissues to cry into since you're so easily wound up. So much offence taken over nothing...
  2. Just because it's hypothetical doesn't mean I can't question the assumption. 'Wasn't debunked' isn't the same as 'proven not to be a national born citizen' - that was my point.
  3. I didn't find it particularly rude, I just disagree with you.
  4. Well that's all that matters. :P I didn't mean to sound like I was against Obama, just that hypothetically if it were not debunked, then he shouldn't be allowed in office. They should prove that he isn't a natural born citizen first then bar him from office - not the other way around. Innocent until proven guilty surely?
  5. Just to clarify when I said: [hide=] I meant: An slight error that can happen as I type then restructure my sentences.[/hide] As for me being misguided, I'm not saying the US government would take away your civil liberties, I said they could. If the US government wanted to go completely dictatorial and still had control over the military there is no way in hell your little hunting rifles or handguns are doing much against the world's most sophisticated fighter jets & tanks. Hell, Lincoln did take away civil liberties during the civil war. That being said, I would love to know where I've went wrong. Please tell me for future reference.
  6. The vast majority of EU nations have far more restrictive firearms laws but have greater civil liberties. Lets face it, if the US government wanted to take away all your civil liberties they could, normal US gun-owning civilians is going out-gun the entire US military. This guns = civil liberties argument doesn't work nowadays.
  7. Isn't the Smith Act an American sedition law in all but name?
  8. The first paragraph is fair enough, the second , well I'll agree to disagree because we might be just run in circles here.
  9. No white President ever had their credentials as an American questioned. Scandal and political posturing are one thing but this, in my opinion, stems from race. It was seen throughout the campaign - the implication that Obama was Muslim, wasn't a "real" American and the general attempts to play upon prejudice. That goes beyond the normal murky world of politics and creates a horrible racial underbelly. Fair play to McCain, he personally tried to avoid those tactics (I remember him admonishing a person at one of his rallies for making such comments) however, many Republicans did attempt to make the implication and it is just a continuation of the "he isn't one of us" crusade which stems from the fact that he looks different from previous Presidents. As for Obama pulling the race card, I would also disagree. He deliberately went out of his way to not be just "the black candidate", instead he went out of his way to be the change candidate and appeal to white people. I can only recall one speech regarding race (addressing the Rev Wright controversy). He didn't play on race then so I see no reason why he would play on it now or in the future.
  10. He was saying that Kranked was a racist just for stating that he was mixed race (or at least inferring it). That to me is ridiculous, it is not racist to point out people's differences in that way - Obama is mixed race.
  11. Well lets see...for your sake, I am gonna consider Obama a WHITE president as clearly any intelligent person can figure that out. U are actually being racist yourself by stereotyping Obama's race purely on the color of his skin. He is equally part black as he is white. So what makes him more of one ethnicity over another? Unless of course you re judging on the color his skin Saying that somebody isn't white isn't being racist, it's a fact - Obama is mixed race. Stop trying to be a smart-[wagon]. Edit - Ultimately, this whole issue about Obama not being a US citizen does stem from race. If Obama did not have such a diverse background nobody would question his credentials as an American. The whole 'Obama isn't American' crowd are so xenophobic that it amazes me, they're probably the same bunch who tried to label him a Muslim during the election to play on people's irrational fears over Islam and extremism.
  12. Rap

    1_man_army replied to xlippsx's topic in Off-Topic
I reject the distinction between the two as I mentioned earlier. Hip hop music now is just an evolution from hip hop then. edit - You mention some pretty good tracks though, I was listening to Paid in Full earlier.
  13. And maybe also the majority of America which voted for him to be the President? Wait there, it was only black people who got Obama elected didn't you know? I hate that smiley but sometimes people's sarcasm detectors are faulty
  14. Rap

Some oldish rap: MC Lyte: Cha Cha Cha (1989) Nas: (1992) A Tribe Called Quest: Award Tour (1993) Dr. Octagon: (1996) I'll add to that; Grandmaster Flash - The Message Grandmaster Flash - White Lines (don't do it) Grandmaster Flash - Adventures on the Wheels of Steel Proper old school hip hop.
  15. Living in Scotland finally has its advantages, we're hilly enough to deal with a rise in sea levels. We wouldn't be too badly affected, we have oil so we'd be okay on that front as well. The only worry would be a slow down in the North Atlantic drift which would render us an even colder nation but we wouldn't quite be uninhabitable.
  16. cryztalwing + anything to do with politics = crackpot theory that should be ignored. That is the basic equation that any new off-topic poster should memorise. It should be in the forum rules.
  17. What does everyone think of the new trial flavours of Walkers' crisps? I think this only applies to UK but the Walkers crisp company are trialling a number of new limited edition flavours, the public will then vote for their favouritre which will then be produced permanently. You have the choice of; Cajun Squirrel Crispy Duck & Hoisin Sauce (which I've had, they taste too sweet) Chilli and Chocolate (just sounds wrong) Fish and Chips Onion Bhaji Builders Breakfast (which is designed to taste like - bacon, buttered toast, eggs & tomato sauce) edit - I know it's only tangentially related to the topic but it really doesn't deserve its own topic.
  18. Anyone can post up isolated incidents for either side in this argument, what about the 8 year old kid who shot his Dad and his Dad's friend in Arizona? My point is; single cases do not help either argument in this argument, what is important is the overall figures regarding gun crime. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/11/us/11 ... ml?_r=2&hp As for your 2nd point, it doesn't make you ignorant it just makes you stupid. This 'shoot first ask questions later' attitude is why so many people kill members of their family or people they know after mistaking them for intruders in their homes. ----- You're not doing much to dispel the stereotype of paranoid gun-toting American are you? Seriously when was the last time Indiana was affected by war or terrorism, The Civil War? Ugh, I'm bored of this topic again already but I felt the need to post for some reason.
  19. 1) It doesn't say they're gypsies - He lives on an estate in Eastbourne and she lives in a council house in the same town. If you were referring to Kranked's post rather than this case them see #2. 2) So what if they were gypsies? Bloody narrow minded tube. 3) If you were trying to be funny or sarcastic to make some sort of point you failed miserably.
  20. On the interwebz you need to be more blunt with your sarcasm; you basically quoted a main anti-abortion stance verbatim in your post. Sometimes it's hard to exaggerate some of the more daft arguments that are made lol.
  21. How so? Children - because if you advocate abortion you're killing kids and you were all once kids yourselves. Women - ? Slave - ? Jewish/Slav/Gay - because these child killers say that the feotus isn't human yet and the Nazi's said that these groups weren't human either so abortionist = Hitler. ----- Of course, those are strawman arguments and I'm being somewhat sarcastic in my wording (I know you won't but there is always somebody who can't see sarcasm (often me)). Hopefully, Sly can fill in the blanks regarding women and slaves because I'm stumped on why they'd possibly be hypocrites. Edit In that instance, a doctor is trying to comfort somebody who is going through a really emotional rollercoaster, it isn't the time to play semantics.
  22. Alas, the point of my response was lost upon the forum world. It's easy to miss that point when it kind of reflects the arguments you've been making on the thread over these last 2 pages.
  23. I think that last point was argued 5 or 6 pages back (maybe more). Well done on proving Reb right =D> .
  24. I don't find this shocking at all, kids having kids isn't too unusaul. I find it sad more than anything, the lad just doesn't have a clue - he's just an immature child who has no clue what the next few years have in store for him. His parents should be ashamed that they obviously haven't educated him on what being a father entails. It really is true; any idiot can have a kid but it takes a man to be a father. It's probably a typo, while he's a kid I doubt he will only be 4ft tall. They probably meant 5ft or that he is 4ft something. This is The Sun's website, they don't really care about accuracy.
  25. You won't find any better. :) Masters of Cinema is UK's Criterion. It's my favorite collection. You can read reviews of their DVD's on dvdbeaver and DVDtimes. What are the movies you're thinking about? I was looking at 'Le Silence De La Mer' last night to go with Melville collection (which I'll order once I have the cash) coming out next month which bundles a few of his films that have already been released. I was looking at a few of BFI's Kurosawa films as well but from what I'd been reading from reviews from people who had bought them on Amazon & Play, the print quality wasn't terrific. I'll use those links though, the sites seem to give a pretty decent look at the actual DVD's rather than just the films on them.
