Items to remember a tragic moment
If the coins are being sold for charitable reasons then fair enough but I wouldn't be surprised if they were just another tactless money making opportunity.

Sarah Palin
He does have a point though, continuing 2 costly wars and lowering taxes doesn't seem economically sound.

A brief question about WW2
There a quite a few communist states....

Alaska is the largest state in the union. It may be in terms of area but it's pretty small when you look at it in terms of population and if you exclude the energy industry it has a very small economy. Running a mainly rural state with a low population density is no preparation for national governance.

That's actually a very common insult in many countries. :| It's common, I did it to somebody who nearly ran me over this afternoon.

Xenophobic, Sun-reading hypocrites like you are a big part of the reason why I would like Scotland to get out of the Union. Sure Scotland has it's own morons hat share your views but it would be nice to not be associated with as many of you. Not respecting countries 'because you're British' is just moronic. What is it about being British gives you the right to not respect others? Also most so called British people are descendants of people from foreign countries - ever heard of the Saxon, the Vikings or the Romans? All of them came from abroad and inhabited Britain at various periods. Also the Pakistani family have the right to start their business anywhere they want, even next to a rival business. That is called competition and it's a fundamental aspect of capitalism. Additionally immigration during the 50's and 60's from the Commonwealth nations kept the NHS in business by providing Doctors and Nurses, so immigration does some good for it.

Flag Burning.
I really want to siggy this, do you even realize how dumb that sounds? If everyone who said "I'll kill you" really meant it, the murder rate would skyrocket.

I admire the sacrifice in it and it does really say something about the band. It's just the act itself that disturbs me, trying to image the physical pain of it is just difficult to get beyond for me.

It's a common thing in the middle east, that is why Iraqi's were hitting the statue of Saddam with their shoes when it was taken down.

A brief question about WW2
There were a few, Josef Mengele and Aribert Heim are the most notorious. In fact, there was a thing in todays paper about Heim's son (who he fathered in the 50's) trying to have him declared legally dead although many believe he is still alive, reportedly in South America.

International & National Extradition Laws
I was just using a cruise as random example of when you'd be in international waters (first that came to mind).

International & National Extradition Laws
International law applies though so it's not like you can start knocking people off when you go on a cruise.

World War 3 where will you be
Regardless of what name you use (USSR, Russia, Soviet Union, Russian Federation, CCCP etc) your still wrong, none of them were allied with USA in the period between the end of WW2 and 1991. That is historical fact.

World War 3 where will you be
Below is an extract from your earlier post... The section in bold states that US & Russia have been allies since 1945 (1945-2008). The Cold War roughly began just after the war (an arguable point) and ended with the fall of the Soviet Union, so basically from around 1945 until 1991. Hence you've said they were allies during the cold war as the periods overlap. Please don't imply that I'm a liar again.

Black History Month Alternatives
I don't see the problem with Black History Month. Most schools tend to teach an extremely Eurocentric syllabus (as magekillr said) and black history is often overlooked despite it being an important aspect of what has made our nations what they are today. I don't see why people should be threatened or deem the idea racist, it wouldn't hurt you to learn about a key area of history. The idea isn't to guilt trip people over slavery or racism in general but to what has happened in the past.

World War 3 where will you be
Yes the Cold War was a very friendly period between USSR and USA. Do you have any other peals of wisdom? Could you be any more ignorant? I am merely stating we have had a pretty good relationship with Russia. ... Plus, the Cold War is over and relationships formed. Happens with most wars. Spain was pissed at the U.S about the Spanish-American War, but they became more civil after the Treaty of Paris was signed. How am I being ignorant? You stated that during the period from WW2 until the present Russia has been a US ally when that is obviously not the case to anyone who has even the most basic grasp of history. I think you need to hit the books big time. Seriously, do they teach any history at schools? As for your comment regarding the Spanish-American War, it's in no way relevant to this topic or our own debate here. Also it is not comparable at all, Spain and America went to war (an actual fought war) and later made peace. They didn't participate in an arms race, participate in proxy wars and have a severe state of conflict for a period of over 40 years. To call the Cold War a period in which USA & USSR are allies is a laughable claim which is factually wrong. Now, I'm sorry if that upsets you and destroys the credibility of your posts in this topic but I have historical fact on my side here. edit - Noticed the Spain comment and added a paragraph accordingly.

Russia threatens U.S. and Poland with Nuclear Attack.
Did anyone else read David Cameron's plan to punish Russia for this and their action in Georgia? Stop wealthy Russians living in UK from shopping at Harrods. Russia issues threats of completely obliterating a nation, and our probable next government will stop them buying caviar from an Egyptian grocer - how pathetic. It's scary to think that the Tories have a realistic chance of getting power when they're lead by a man who is so naive as to leave his bike outside a shop unlocked and think nobody will nick it, hate Brown all you want but he isn't that daft - he grew up in Kirkcaldy (near me). I know it's slightly off-topic but it does relate to this peripherally but didn't deserve it's own thread.

Olympics 2008
That's the thing that gets me. Why is it only in gymnastics that we have this rule? From my reading it is to prevent younger gymnasts from sustaining injuries (presumably ones that would affect them as they continued to grow). I always thought it had something to do the muscles being more supple when your younger but that doesn't appear to be the case. http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/beijin ... &type=lgns
