  1. So if a species doesn't contribute to human existence, it's deemed unworthy of existing? -.- That's not what he's saying at all. It's basic Darwinism. The species slowest to respond to changes in its environment (changes in geography, climate, conditions, predation, vegetation etc.) will die out. Those who live will do so because the change in conditions has no effect, or else a mutation has occurred in the species which allows that particular organism to adapt to said change. This organism is thus capable of growing to adulthood, breeding and passing its alleles (the mutation included) to the next generation, and the frequency of that allele increases in the population. Those who do not adapt will die as a result and therefore will not reproduce, therefore the species dies. If these turtles have been so far unable to adapt to their environment (probable due to the huge time gap between generations), they die. It's as simple as. If it's because of something we have done, then that's another matter. You can't leap to the protection of every species on the planet. Dozens die out each and every day, thousands haven't even been discovered let alone classified, but you don't seem to complain about that when we're chopping down the rainforests to grow food so prices remain low at the supermarkets.
  2. As someone who has studied Biology at college, I will never understand this fixation about saving every species on the planet. If it's a result of human activity, fine, I accept we should intervene. Otherwise, let evolution take its course.
  3. These socialist ideas would be...? Trust me, the bank bail-out from Bush last week was far more socialist than anything Obama's thinking of. State ownership of all the bad debts in the US economy? Call it what you will - it's nationalisation through the back door, albeit with the intent of selling later.
  4. Maybe those economists are terrorists too. I mean, Sarah "Hockey mom" Palin would know. May as well close this thread. The election is by now surely over.
  5. Are you drunk? Wigan pushed them close last week though. If it weren't for Fielden and Barratt dropping the ball. At least St. Helens didn't win, that's all that matters. ;)
  6. It's wrong. There are very few things I apply blanket rules to but no, that is wrong. I'm not even talking morals here. I'm saying there's not much chance (hardly any) of it actually working. You can't "love" someone after one night out, so it's not really like you can claim that either.

Ahh didn't read that comment, another time though. :P Maybe later? Yeah sure. We're both online. Wanna go on now?

Woops. I logged off. I'll go on now but I only got up like half an hour ago. :P

Orly? Just so happens you're in the UK too. I'll face you in a ditto match if you want. Doesn't matter who wins. We can each give pointers on where to improve. :
  10. It did. It never really looked like failing second time round. The DOW still closed down last night, though. EDIT: For those totally confused about this bailout, Wikipedia have made a page explaining it. Nice to have something explain it from an impartial view.
  11. I still don't get how that's making the skill easier. All it's doing is removing the repetitive, and I repeat, dangerous nature of the more "grinding" techniques in RuneScape. If people are reading a book, or talking on MSN while playing RS, than that's good, quite frankly, for a person's mental and social health. Added the removal of about 90% of the clicking, and you've also gone some way to removing the physical danger of playing computer games for too long. What you should really be arguing is this - some people should not spend as long on RuneScape (or computer games in general) for as long as they do. However, without putting a limit on how long people can play for over a given time, that's almost impossible. Therefore, the sensible solution is to make the game as safe as possible while people are playing, and the "-x" updates go some way to improving that. There is also another point, however. Woodcutting. Surely that has a "Do-x" option installed into it already, and has done since RuneScape's release, on the grounds that once you cut a log, you carry on without any player interaction. If we're going to protest about "Do-x", then let us also look back on skills like Woodcutting which are automated. Clearly, such a move would be silly and pedantic. We should just accept that sometimes Jagex are making the game "easier" for the good of our own health, and that as a private company, looking after the health of your customers (some of which don't pay a dime for this game) is nothing to be ashamed of at all.
  12. ...Does it matter? The battleground isn't the stage Palin and Biden were on last night. That contains no electoral college votes. The battlegrounds are the key states, including Michiga... oh wait: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7650350.stm
  13. MTV didn't really think this through, did they? :?
  14. Dirty Pretty Things - You [bleep] love it. They're playing 53 Degrees tonight. It's kinda weird I'll be one of the last people to see them live and I've never really been into them before yesterday. It's gonna be ace though. :
  15. I think there's a little bit of partisanship at play here - it is a fairly new site. But still, there are some in the RuneScape community that feel Tip.It is falling away from RuneHQ and Zybez. This not only proves we're still here, it's also claims we're better.
  16. Many of those Chinese workers are victims of exploitation. It's not like they can pop down to their local Job Centre and pick up a career there. It is not too dissimilar in principle to someone who is forced into drug selling or prostitution as a result of their circumstance (although obviously, the consequences are far less extreme and malicious), but I don't think there's a person in their right mind who would oppose a clamp down on pimps and drug smugglers. The point I'm making is if we're talking about morality, them being "employed" in such a way is immoral in the first place. Maybe if they had other opportunities, they wouldn't be forced into this illegal trade. I can sympathise, but clearly, seeking an alternative to the current situation is the only moral way to go.
  17. I've found that reading newspapers actually winds me up more than it informs me on the negative attitudes of people around me. Or maybe that's because it actually does both. I usually only use the BBC, which is widely regarded as an impartial broadcaster. I'm more than capable of making an opinion by myself without some editor telling me to believe his/her usually sensationalist point of view. If I do read a newspaper, it's usually The Times though. As for the Sun, need I remind people of Hillsborough?
  18. I'm trying to look through google's cache now but the search ""Day 1: Ten Days, Ten Threads" site:Forum.tip.it" doesn't seem to bring up anything. My guess is someone would have had to save the page directly. Even then, I'm not sure whether you can retrieve threads from the old format. They definitely wouldn't have been deleted in the forum roll-back.
  19. If Nintendo hadn't rocked twenty years ago, neither would the Xbox now. We can all post flamebait. ;)
  20. Not gonna happen. They're legal products and they have a disclaimer on it saying that their product is not endorsed by usually. Basically, it's already patented, the companies can do nothing about it. Correct me if i'm wrong. I didn't say Nintendo would take them to court, they already explored that avenue and found it was fruitless. The constant Wii system updates stop most of the codes from working though. I'm more referring to the few "professional" gaming organisers which are starting to pop up. If it's found people are using GameShark and AR to unfairly gain an advantage in those contests, and they're both actively advertising that as their selling point, it could be tricky.
  21. Take her out for dinner or something? The aim on a date is to talk and make that connection, so choose an activity which forces and inspires the two of you to open up and talk to each other.
  22. You're an idiot. A majority of our leaders are in favor of this bill and a majority of our citizens are against this bill. At this point it's looking to me like it's going to pass. Tell me how voting against this bill is the popular thing to do when it looks like it's going to pass. Because in case you hadn't noticed, it's not the leaders that are electing them, it's the citizens who pay the tax for it...
  23. If it's against cheating, I'm in. I can't wait for the day someone takes GameShark and AR to court.
  24. Woo! Epic generalisation. Why would people do it on a game if it didn't work though? I think that more points to a fallacy in the male population's psyche rather than the transvestites/sexuals'.
  25. That's only the interior camera. The exterior one is 3 megapixels. Given, that's not exactly overwhelming. What do you expect? You most likely will not be using it for art or anything hardcore, and 3 mp sounds plenty useful for everyday needs. Hey, there's only one thing I expect on a Nintendo console - good games. The DS has them by the bucket-full. My DS never actually leaves the house, unless I'm going on holiday or something like that. Thus, having a camera on it would be pointless for me, when I've already got another digi camera with a higher resolution which also doubles as a webcam. I think I'll be sticking to the Lite. I can't really see any use for the second touch screen, or the camera, or the music playback. Sounds a bit too gimmicky, without ever delivering on substance.
