  1. I know, I mean, how DARE people compliment each other rather than arguing all the time. How bad would that be? Chaos and conflict is interesting. When you all come together without hostile intent, the spectators get bored. I suppose there is some truth in that, but constant hostility can get mighty tiring and grinding. It's nice to have a thread that's, well... nice, once in a while.
  2. I might be intepreting what you have written wrongly, but right now you seem like a hypocrite to me. Perhaps I meant that to be more of a personal sentiment than a lecture to everyone else. It's not my business to tell people how to have fun. Personally, the thought of doing nothing but the same few steps repeated over and over again, with large exp or otherwise, there is nothing I would rather less do. That's just my personality, I get distracted by new things very easily. Hence, for me, making something a quest to do something in the fastest way possible (which is usually repetitive grinding in RuneScape) is not something I particularly desire to do. That's why I liked trading. If I did 99 Cooking nowadays, I'd buy the Raw Lobster, cook them, and sell them. Then I'd do the same over again. When I did 99 Cooking a year ago, I had to: [*:2s282bus]Look after my finances. There was no "I'm outta dough - I'll go to Bandos and make some more" for me. [*:2s282bus]Fish for monkfish every so often for money, thus breaking the monotany. [*:2s282bus]Trade off the cooked lobsters for the highest price possible, buying for the cheapest possible. I suppose in some ways it was testing a larger range of skills, and forcing me to use at least a tiny amount of creativity to open up new opportunities. Nowadays, it is simply a case of training at Aviansies for a while until you have enough money, and mass buying on the GE, which tests such a narrow range of personal skills it makes you (as in me, not you personally) fall asleep.
  3. It's perfectly comfortable with a GC controller, which you can use on MK Wii. The concept of Animal Crossing is still largely the same, but there are massive differences between City Folk and Wild World, just as there were with the original and Wild World. Also, MK DS cost me £30; the Wii version cost me £37. Hardly "twice as much", is it? I almost forgot how awesome your maths skills are.
  4. Muslims dont wear turbans. The sikhs do. Its with good intent, but i have a strong feeling that it wont yeild any fruitfull results. Mostly due to ill informed views, and the wonderfull people who care less to know. Sometimes people are beyond [developmentally delayed]. Headscarfs then, or w/e you wanna call it. You mean a burkha? In fact, actually, that's proof more religious education's needed.
  5. I know, I mean, how DARE people compliment each other rather than arguing all the time. How bad would that be?
  6. Why are you even attempting to find a comparison between real life and RS? The two have always been plainly different - that's the point in a game. Next you'll be telling me it's more preferable to get a train rather than walk to where I wanna go, and somehow try and compare that to teleporting. The comparison, if anything, is that I go to the supermarket rather than order it through the Internet and have it delivered to my door without ever stepping outside my house. Now you're just putting words into my mouth. Of course I talked to people in the Rogue's Den and I loved it there. I also liked trading. I don't see anything wrong with that, unless you're a person who likes looking down on others for what they like or what they don't like. You like what you like, I like what I like. I don't see what business it is of yours telling me that what I like to do in a game is ridiculous or wrong.
  7. Exactly. I personally don't see any fun in running around for 5-10 minutes just to get an item I need in one single thing in a quest. Infact I even less enjoy standing in crowded areas shouting stuff like "Buying X" and same time reading forums for few hours every day. The saved time and efford in certain "mandatory must" tasks can actually be used to please yourself. I think you've missed my point. Let's take your 99 Herblore. Nowadays, I buy the herbs and the secondaries from the GE. Nice and quick. Am I having fun yet? No. I start training herblore. Am I having fun yet? No. I get a level. Am I having fun grinding up the levels? No. I get 99 Herblore. Sweet. I get a warm, glowy feeling for about 5 seconds, after which it evaporates into a feeling of regret you didn't use the time spent on something where you would have actually been enjoying yourself and relaxing. Have I had fun at all in this quest? No. That's the way I look at it anyway. No point doing something for pride and pride alone. You have to actually enjoy it. If taking longer to do something means you'll enjoy it, I'll choose that option over the GE. I personally see GE as a way to skip parts in skilling that are a must to do in order to start working on the skill. I personally did not enjoy trading with people or hunting for deals. Does it make me a worse skiller or a player if I wanted to use my time on the thing itself and avoid stuff I did not enjoy? No, not at all. Although I would question why you are playing a MMORPG if you don't enjoy trading with other people. We clearly have different likes and dislikes in RuneScape. Perfectly normal, we're humans after all. Let's leave it at that. I was giving a personal reflection on how I believe the GE weakened the already atrociously weak community RS has, to the point where you may as well live as a hermit while playing the game. Hell, you can even win a game of CW without anyone else these days.
  8. When you get out of Student-land where everything gets payed for you and start living in the real world, maybe you'll start to understand these things. Nationalising them is a better option than letting them collapse while other banks have got money invested in them.
  9. I liked the GE at the time, but now I look back on my RS days, I can actually see how much it ruined the game. The thing that gets me about RuneScape is the way most people it seems are on a mission to get from A to B in the quickest way possible. So much so, I think they actually lose sight of what the game was originally intended for - fun. You see people talk about their RS "careers". Now obviously, they don't mean it literally, but it speaks volumes about how people take the game so seriously it almost becomes a profession to them. Moreover, the number of people doing this is in its hundreds, if not, thousands. With other games, you'd only see about a few dozen who would call their playing time a "career". If you guys who are defending the GE say that there is something wrong with wanting to actually work for your own items, then yes, there's something deeply wrong with me. But then, who among us is totally normal? I remember going for 99 Cooking before the GE was released in August 07. Having to stand in world 2, negotiate prices and actually *shock* talk to people and sell things directly to them. Yes, it was fun. It was an experience, a sort of adventure in itself. Nowadays, I'd put my cooked lobbies on the GE, and they'd stay there... doing sweet FA. I leave you with a question of my own. What's more fun: A) Selling your lobsters by competing against about ten other sellers in a crowd of hundreds in Falador, World 2, or; B) Putting your lobbies on some faceless mechanism, and sit there, staring at them while they don't move? The journey is more than the destination.
  10. For what it's worth, this "one-itis" is a perfectly natural emotion that can last as long as two years without it ever being a psychological problem, even if the two people involved never see or speak to each other. If it were an actual infection, I'd probably have had half the guys in my high school infected with it every time they tried using girls for sex only. You could feel awful for a number of reasons though. Maybe it's wishing you didn't have these feelings so life would be simpler, or maybe it's envy over the fact you're not actually going out. Either way, it's a perfectly natural part of growing up, and so is rejection, so don't be afraid to try and make moves.
  11. Yes... I mean that's exactly what I said. Well that is just completely ridiculous. I was being sarcastic. I'm saying you're putting words into my mouth. At no point in this thread have I said "OMG, the Church hates gays so Church should be abolished". Allow to make my position absolutely crystal clear (although it will be no doubt muddied again by people pathetically playing semantics) - if the Church chooses not to accept religious homosexual marriages, then I would support the concept of a secular, state marriage being provided as well as religious marriages as a suitable alternative for gays to achieve equality to their heterosexual counterparts. It's really not a hard argument to understand.

Pics or it didn't happen. I'm not spamming either, I genuinely don't believe you, given the fact you are a SONY fanboy. I also doubt a company as big as Microsoft would have such a substandard customer service. Me thinks you're lying, or you've at least exaggerated the truth.
  13. Wow, that is epic fail, but I can see how you thought the wrong date. The date was September 11th, written as 9/11 by most Americans and Canadians. However, in Europe they would right that as 11/9, which would lead one in Europe to believe the attacks were on November the 9th. Still though, that was so funny  No, really? Anyone would think that was the point he was making.
  14. No You sure? I'm not. But on to the topic... there's no guarantee Tales will be released in Europe. :(
  15. Are "islams" people who follow Muslimism? I'm not really bothered. Same goes for the advert at Warrington Central train station telling people to convert to Christianity. Makes me laugh when people accuse others of not telling the whole story, bad bits included. Jesus's resurrection was witnessed by a prostitute - doesn't mean Christianity actively promotes prostitution though, does it? When you go for a job interview, are you going to to tell them the whole, absolute truth? No one gives the full story.

  18. If that's the case, she needs to find out whether he's really being altruistic. From where I'm sitting from the description you've just made, it doesn't sound like he's really all that interested at all. He's just an extroverted jerk who gets thrills from making all other people fall for him. Same would go his girlfriend, except she probably goes further. Such people are rarely worth the time people give to them, not that it stops people going to them in the first place. My personal opinion doesn't matter though. If she doesn't find out what he really feels, then this uncertainty isn't going to go away unless she gets over him first. She's in a constant feedback mechanism. She's asking "Does he like me?". If he flirts with her, she looks for a reason to doubt he does. This reason would be the fact he offers her no special treatment compared to everyone else, and thus we are back to the original question. In short, here would be my solution - find a way of getting her to find out whether or not he does like her (and I'll bet £10 he doesn't), and if he doesn't, get her to say "no" everytime he tries flirting because he's got a girlfriend already. Hopefully, her saying "no" to herself and him over and over again will snap her out of it and get her to see common sense.
  19. I would concur. That doesn't just apply for Islam either.
  20. Well, I've given my advice on all the other issues. Now, about the girl... What exactly is wrong with her? I'm guessing she's feeling rather confused because of the guy who flirts with everyone, but she's unsure whether him flirting with her is a sign of something more or whether it's just his personality. Am I right?

How are you trolling me? I'm agreeing with you. I'm only saying that just because it is a parody doesn't make it bad. For many people, it's the parody that makes the game. Link was awful in SCII, but he's fun to play with in SSBB.
  22. Ginger_Warrior replied to Caxis's topic in Off-Topic
Are you for real? Ive swam in paddling pools deeper than brawl. Theres one strict move list for every character; Direction+Button. No real combo system and the shield/block is a joke. Brawl isnt meant to be played seriously, its a parody of a fighting game. It's a fighting game for people who don't do fighting games. Everyone knows that. Apart from possibly SC, all beat-em-ups bore me. SSBB is different, probably because it's not so tied up in being as 'realistic' as possible it actually makes the game fun to play. As for its depth - does a game as shallow as a paddling pool have a wiki with over 2,000 articles? Playing with TL forces me to be at full concentration nearly all of the time. SHDA can be mastered with practice, but the timing is so precise. Because of his tiny frame and generally poor melee attack range, any mistake can be punished badly. It's not as shallow as you make out, unless you're playing with MK. EDIT: Speaking of MK: http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?p ... ost5357024
  23. You need to decide on two things Powman. Firstly, you gotta think about whether the situation with this girl is actually making you feel better for helping her than it is making you feel worse because of your emotional attachment to the situation. If it's making you feel worse on balance, you have to make a decision on whether it's becoming unbearable. A good way of doing that is to think, "If this goes on for 6 months, could I actually bare it?". If the answer is is "no", distance yourself. You have to look after #1 before you can even think of helping anyone else. Secondly, in regards to all the other stuff, I'm guessing the reason you've posted on here instead of talking to your friends is because you either don't trust them or you don't find their advice helpful. In which case, there's nothing we can really do on TIF to help you deal with all that other baggage, much as we'd like to. You need to see someone where you can let go of that hurt without feeling like you're being judged for it. In other words, you need to see a counsellor. If one isn't available at your school, then one should always be available through your GP. If you want, tell your GP about your suspicions about suffering from depression. He'll do a physical examination to make sure it's nothing physically wrong as opposed to something mentally wrong If they feel you're suffering from clinical depression, then they'll refer you to a higher authority in order to make that diagnosis. If you feel like you're suffering from depression, the one thing you must never do is look on the Internet for topics relating to it. The number of times I've heard about cases of self-diagnosis (one was from Wikipedia -.-), and there's nothing bloody wrong with them. They're just feeling blue. Not that I'm saying this is the case with you, but just a wise word there. tl;dr version: See someone where you can release that excess emotion in confidence. If it doesn't work, consider seeing a higher authority, or another counsellor.
  24. Ya just because Obama has the most liberal voting record in the senate that means he's the force of evil whose real objective is to move America away from old Christian morality and give a kickin' to gun owners while he's at it. We all have our stereotypes. It's not nice but that's the way it is and during elections those stereotypes come to the fore. You're just as guilty for them as we are.
