  1. No, you and jack seem to have decreed this topic is about Iraq. The rest of us are still debating war as a whole. Therefore, discussing justifications for the war in Iraq by comparing the state of Iraq's government compared to others in the world in entirely relevant. If you can't see that, that's your problem.
  2. Guitar Hero 3? Okami? Not to mention a whole load of classics on the Virtual Console. Nintendo have never been able to do as well on home consoles as they do on their handhelds. I really didn't except much from Nintendo on the Wii, but we got AC and ToS. The only thing that disappointed me was the DS. GTA has never appealed to me - it seems a pointless game. Not that that makes it a bad game, it's just not something I'm into. When Carrie started talking about Pokémon, I was hoping it was the third game of the 4th Generation (Diamond and Pearl), which might act to balance online battles and give more Pokémon a chance against the Weaviles and Tyranitars. The trouble is, the DS is almost four years old now. It's hard to think it's been that long, but it has. But while it's so successful it's hard to see Nintendo developing a new handheld console. In the meantime, they've already made all the games for the DS they can. It's a difficult hole to be in.
  3. Who said it was? It's still a good game nonetheless that can keep most people entertained for months. Just out of interest, what exactly were you expecting from Nintendo at this year's E3? There's already a Zelda on the Wii, a Super Mario adventure on the Wii, Mario Kart Wii, and SSBB. There's also been two new Pokémon games, another Zelda as well as several smaller games developed by Nintendo released on the DS. All of which released in just 18 months.
  4. Did they even consider some people play games like RS because they're unable to find escapism or enjoyment in a real life book? :? I voted 'No'.
  5. There are areas of the world with much worse regimes. If saving people from persecution really was your prerogative here, then I have to wonder why you haven't marched into Zimbabwe or Sudan already.
  6. Whether or not they've lied is irrelevant to the topic's suitability for the rest of us. I'm 18 and I found some of the content in those threads deeply disturbing and inappropriate. The sort of immature chaps who posted on the "Caught them" thread in particular were starting to post in other threads and degrade all the topics the rest of us used instead. We can turn away from threads like "Caught them" - we shouldn't have to turn away from the board altogether. If you want to discuss stories like that, there's plenty of places to do it. Forum.Tip.It isn't one of those places.
  7. There are plenty more with most of their family killed due to Saddam's genocide. Silly argument really, if you're claiming to be better than Saddam.

I'm online now, I can't seem to get any Basic Brawls
  9. Not to mention Reg did say Nintendo wasn't going to reveal all its card. Apart from Wii Music, Animal Crossing and Wii Sports 2, I didn't notice any Nintendo developments on the Wii. The DS had even less revealed (I can only remember Pokémon Hunter 2 from Nintendo?) yet it's Nintendo's biggest console by a country mile. I'm sure they'll give more information on some more titles later on. Although to be honest, this is what I hope more than what I actually think. :?
  10. Don't attempt to deflect this to the USSR, or the Democrats. This is about the US. Eisenhower didn't exactly complain did he? Let me rephrase it. The first bomb may have saved lives, technically, if you squint your eyes, maybe, perhaps. We'll never know. However, Japan was considering surrender after that first bomb. They knew they had no chance if the US actually launched a ground assault, given the fact they were deprived of raw materials. How was the second bomb preventing civilian casualties?
  11. Not at this stage in the UCAS process, unless he was one of the incredible few who got two offers. Only 10% of applicants get one offer, let alone two. It's not official, proved or confirmed, but there's a strong suspicion the universities rig it so they evenly share candidates anyway, since the course content is controlled almost completely by the GMC so there's no real difference between each university's content. I sincerely doubt he'll have a back-up, and the official guidelines are to reject anyone with a criminal record. Unless there is a change in legislation to remove minor offences from criminal records, or someone breaks those guidelines, I can't see this guy getting into Medical School. He could go to Cuba I guess... there's an option.
  12. A new Animal Crossing on the Wii, with real voice speech!
  13. The only reason the USSR was on the same side as the British commonwealth + the USA + France etc was because of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". How is that pertinent?
  14. So you worship Zeus then? Paying money in a bid to host the games is hardly abiding by the original Olympian spirit either. I prefer to think about this by reversing the roles and seeing what would happen if we were in China's shoes, and I come to this question - should people boycott London 2012 for our controversial actions in Iraq and Afghanistan, or for the way we support Israel's actions in Gaza? You can't boycott every country you have an issue with. There'd be none left to host the games. Yeah, I said I worship Zeus right there in my post. Are you kidding me? Exactly. I was saying the modern games have never been in honour of the Olympian Gods. So saying they should be is a bad argument. It is a sporting event which unfortunately has been poisoned by politics since 1936. Do you treat everyone as though they're so [developmentally delayed]ed they become incapable of reading something for themselves? If the human rights abuse is as big as you claim, it would immensely difficult to hide it in a country the size of China, or a region the size of Tibet. Far from it, the Olympics actually puts China under more scrutiny, not less. If someone protests near an event, and the authorities brutally stop it, it'll be for the whole world to see.
  15. Or even that the older people found it distasteful? This quite clearly extends beyond specific age groups.
  16. It's all very good saying "let's be tough on young people", but it ignores the wider picture. In this country we have a shortage of doctors and especially dentists. For all we know, this kid had the potential to become a dentist, serving the type of deprived community he comes from. Is it really justified, therefore, to exclude a young man from his career aspiration, and a community of a good doctor in the future, for a criminal offence as pitifully minor as this? I agree, if the kid had gone out and assaulted someone, or taken drugs, then he shouldn't be in Medical School. All he did, however, was walk into a property he thought was abandoned anyway, and spend one night in a police cell.
  17. Yes... because the US dropping the atomic bomb was really worse than millions dying after the Final Solution was drawn up, or even more dying at the hands of forced collectivisation in the USSR. -.- There you go, Hitler and Stalin were worse. I never said otherwise. I've also expressed in other threads that had the US not got involved, Britain would probably have lost WWII. This 'US vs. the world' notion of yours doesn't exist. You're just blowing any criticism of the US out of proportion. And for the matter, this what you said: I'm well aware the B-29 could target a city. Your belief that bombers have always been used for this purpose is wrong, however. Not to mention, you still haven't answered my question, you just shrugged it off with a lame 'everybody does it anyway' sort of response: Please, just answer the point.

  19. Of course people lie about their age. The thing is, once they say they're 13+ TIF is no longer responsible for them since they said they were of te agreed age. Porn sites do the same thing. Once you say you're 18 they give you access to the content and they're not responsible if you're not actually 18. Porn sites don't have a built reputation which they have to uphold. Comparing an internet forum to a porn site seems pretty far-fetched to me.
  20. Shows what you know about military history. Original bombers were so weak they couldn't even be used to bomb cities. They were designed to act as support for ground troops. No, personally I think that's your ultra-nationalist paranoia setting in.
  21. We've all pretty much decided to go to Forsakenmage, who has kindly let us use her chat system.
  22. My view would be a wall about 2 yards away from the door, accompanied by a broken white bookcase, rotting away The view at the top of the Eiffel Tower doesn't even come close to my backyard.

A little bit of a cliché, but I managed to get this image, and I'm pretty proud of it: :P [hide=][/hide]
  24. Historians have established that a military base was the initial target, but due to bad weather, they couldn't operate in the area. They therefore turned to the nearest city, and released the bomb there. The nearest military base was miles away. You butchered thousands of innocent civilians for no apparent reason by subjecting them to the most powerful weapon mankind has ever created. Would you care to explain how that's avoiding civilian casualties? Even Hitler targeted the docks in London.
  25. The degrading quality of threads/posts in Off-Topic could have been avoided in one fell swoop: The Real-Life Pictures should never have been put there. It was pretty obvious to anyone who thought about the proposal for more than 30 minutes that more immature users would move to OT if the sticky was put there. Solution: Move it to Forum Games. The trolls will move with it.
