I don't think your use of the word "idiosyncrasy" is appropriate in the context, but we can all agree there are a wide range of factors in each country in relation to gun ownership and its effect on gun crime, yes. Although, by admitting this, you also have to admit that your previous attempt in this thread to link a rise in violent crime in the UK to the firearms ban was not fully appreciative of all the factors involves in that rise, and so the ban can't necessarily be blamed for it. If you're willing to do that, then we agree.
  2. Indeed. You have to make a plan to take action against the things that are causing you to act that way, and you have to be able to measure yourself against it to ensure you're making progress. So, in Star's case, it might be something as simple as "I'll speak to one person I've never spoken to before by the end of the week, each week." If you manage that, put it up to two people per week. You can easily measure your progress this way. The point I was making was that reflection is not "This happened, I felt that way, that's just me. One day it will fix itself. The End."
  3. Part of reflection, and indeed, cognitive behavioral therapy--which is essentially about changing the way that you think about things--is exploring things in a very specific and logical order. What happened, how did you feel about it, but most importantly: why did you feel the way you did? What was influencing your emotional state at that moment in time? What were you thinking about? So really, if you want to develop and you want to understand why you respond to social stimulation with anxiety, you need to ask yourself: Why are you panicking, and what are you panicking about? Out of all the things you're thinking about when answering that question, how many of them are valid, rational, or even real in the first place?
  4. It takes a fantastic performance to win any game 6-0, but Crawley Town could have beaten Newcastle yesterday. That was one of the worst Premier League performances I've ever seen; if I was a Newcastle fan, I'd be very very worried about that eight-year contract for Pardew now. Coutinho and Sturridge had great games, though.

Even if somebody had spotted it, surely they could have assumed good faith and thought you meant the opposite without insisting on stalling the debate to call you out on it. Seems like a very poor ad hominem technique to describe the arguer as ignorant, and not the argument itself as being based on ignorance.
  6. Who needs 200m xp when you have SWAG? Is "gaybar" what they call a sheep pen in NZ?
  7. I forgot this was a RuneScape blog, not the Man United fanzine. I'll kindly [bleep] off now. Sorry! Re: Gardevoir's signature: That's a... unique team set-up. By "unique" I mean suicidal.

The person who I'd say craves attention most out of all the friends on my Facebook feed just posted a status about how "Facebook Famous" people should do one. Much jealousy, this one has.
  9. My point was that every generation since the second World War has said that of the generation beneath them. :P
  10. Because obviously, you weren't the same at 19 :P

Citation needed. And I want bloody detailed statistics to make all those up, not a reliance on intuition and 'common sense' statements alone. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, I'm just making the point: back up what you're saying.
  12. Hormones make you feel funny ways, eh? Sometimes, like in my once upon a time case, you speak and communicate it to them and they don't listen, which is when maturity plays in. I agree with what Gio said for the most part, surprisingly. The rate at which people cheat drops off significantly after 24, which would back up what you're saying.
  13. A fair amount of 16-24 year olds in both sexes cheat. Some of that you can put down to sexual experimentation, but I wonder what the communication is like in most of those relationships. I'm reckoning if you feel a need to play away, clearly your current partner isn't doing something for you, and you probably didn't have the balls to talk about it with them. So you took the easy option and got it from someone else.
  14. You really cant be so sure of it. But tot hem playing runescape is how they socialize and thats how they met each other, their rationality makes sense to them. While I neither agree or disagree or condone of their actions I guess whatever makes them happy right? But setting goals like that just sets you up for dissapointment. Especially if they never have met in real life or skyped or called or even texted. How do they even know what each other looks like? What if they arnt the gender they say they are? Yeah, I mean... I can understand how a relationship formed online without any face-to-face interaction might still be able to provide both parties the characteristics and aspects that they desire and need from a relationship. With relationships and sex, you have to accept that everything is "normal" so long as it makes everyone concerned happy. I think sexuality is obviously an issue since it can't really be expressed through RuneScape, but sexuality doesn't necessarily need to be expressed through intercourse and it's feasible that there are ways around that issue. Of course, a slightly more cynical reality might be that neither of them are expressing sexuality with each other, which will lead to repression of that sexuality which will eventually cause problems but, that's their judgement and their choice. A baby though... that's another human being which will be born with a huge variety of complicated human needs, and if you're in an online relationship, there's no possible way you can make a judgement on whether the two of you combined can, in practical terms, provide for that child's needs.
  15. He's accepted the ban, apologised and asked for forgiveness. Despite both him and Rodgers criticizing the ban, insisting they'd appeal it and effectively blaming David Cameron for it (I hate Cameron but even I'm not blaming the Tories for that... :-s). Whoever's in charge of PR at Liverpool needs sacking. That's the second time FSG have blatantly intervened to stop a train crash for a PR disaster.
  16. I think from a sociological perspective, right now it's probably not normal for people to form relationships purely online. Although people can meet online, there does need to be some kind of face-to-face interaction in order to develop the emotional bonds that keep two people together. That norm will change as the world becomes smaller and technology means we're more well connected. The talk about kids in particular isn't a case of social norms, though. It's a matter of what is practically possible. You can't possibly know through RuneScape how suitable someone is for bringing up your children. You can't even know if you'll find them sexually attractive. What you have is an avatar on which you've projected a whole load of emotions, many of which you don't really understand. That's why you need to live with a person first to see them "warts and all", and that's when you reflect on whether you really want them looking after your kids when you see their bad traits as well as their positive traits. By "you" I meant anyone, not you specifically, of course.

The disturbing thing is (s)he'll have been told that, from somebody or something, and (s)he didn't even bother to take it in critically.
  18. Coutinho is occasionally brilliant. He's certainly not consistent enough to have a guaranteed first-team birth, much like Nani at United. Same goes for Henderson. I'd like to add Johnson to the list of players I find embarrassing in an England shirt. The sooner somebody bites the bullet and turns him into a right-winger, the better, because he's clearly not a defender. Sturridge might eventually have a chance to play regularly at Liverpool which was an opportunity he was never going to get against Torres, so he might actually realise the potential he initially showed. Liverpool aren't going further down because the next team down is too far away. There's a "top 7" in the PL at the moment with the Manchester clubs dominating those seven teams.

It's a good excuse for an annual match between the two best sides in international rugby league. You can take ANZAC, so long as you leave that fixture. :P My lecturer today said that all people have gotten chlamydia at least once by the time they're 25. Well I'm 23 and I haven't. Almost sounds like a challenge if unprotected sex wasn't so hazardous and irresponsible.
