  1. I can only think as a red flag to say "dating is fine, but sex is a bit of a touchy subject".
  2. Beyond cute. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULZOhUUJ994
  3. It's only been mentioned three times in two pages, so it's pretty clear to see why you'd have missed it. :-| I know. Which is why he should have been fined for the theft of her commodities in addition to that. I didn't 'miss' anything, you just misinterpreted what I said. I know he didn't actually receive any penalty for the theft of her RS stuff. I am saying that the sum total of his fine should have at least matched the value of what he stole. I disagree with the court not fining the guy for the theft of virtual goods as I view them in exactly the same way as physical commodities, as my previous post explains. Which is why a £100 fine seems low to me. By this logic, should the 'commodities' we earn in-game not be subject to taxation, since they allegedly have a real value and therefore qualify as a source of income? Or... we could just accept that all in-game items remain owned by Jagex and avoid a lot of complications. Baring in mind that RS gold only has a value when you sell it, which involves breaching the terms and conditions of playing the game.
  4. Except that the fine wasn't for the virtual money, it was for the stolen alcohol, valued at £16, and the remaining £100 a mixture of prosecution costs and victim surcharges. In fact: It's only been mentioned three times in two pages, so it's pretty clear to see why you'd have missed it. :-|
  5. Aaaand if he is...? What are you some kind of no-life gamer virgin? Don't you dare! We've been going around this circle for days. :(
  6. Sony and Nintendo will go the same way as MS is doing now, in fact, some would argue they already have. Movies are now watched on subscription models. TV is watched on subscription models. Mobile phones are used by subscription models. Music is listened to by subscription models. Some games are already paid by subscription models (namely, the one game which brought you to this website, amongst plenty others) and online gameplay is almost always paid by subscription models now. The future of gaming and indeed the rest of the digital entertainment industry is undoubtedly obvious, whether you like Sony, Nintendo, MS or hate all three in equal measure. The days of physical releases are numbered, and this has been inevitably clear for a while now, more of a matter of 'when' rather than 'if'.
  7. The I [bleep]ing love science page on Facebook. Not the page itself, I think the page is amazing. The people who follow it. I'm not sure if they're being sarcastic, but I see comments about people "believing" in science over religion/nature. This statement is ridiculous and should be rejected by anyone with even half of a brain cell (if that could even exist), whether they "believe" in science or not. Science is, amongst other things, a methodical, systematic, reproducible and quantifiable process, the aim of which is to increase our knowledge of the world around us (or perhaps more accurately, decrease our lack of knowledge). It is not a belief or a value system, nor is it a framework through which we judge our environment and the people in them. I know many religious people who can follow the scientific process and are quite comfortable in having their spiritual beliefs challenged by what they discover. If you're the kind of person that sees things as "science vs religion", do both sides a favour and shove off. We're not interested in a penis waving contest, all we're doing is attempting to understand the world around us. The only difference between us is the methodology used.
  8. With that boy about to step out onto the road, I bet that's your worst nightmare if you were doing your driving test at the time and were being assessed on hazard perception. :P
  9. MS's shares are only down 0.5% today so it's not exactly logical to attribute that to the Xbox One reveal, let alone condemn it before gamers have really had the opportunity to check out the line-up of games on release. Also, SONY announced they're splitting the company off which more probably explains their surge. Nintendo's only went up 2% compared to SONY's just-under 9%.
  10. Why did you split up in the first place, and what made you change your mind to go back with each other again?
  11. He wants to pursue a career in the Armed Forces... Not being funny but... isn't he a bit too short? (This coming from someone who's only barely five feet tall).
  12. My third gen iPod Nano (the one in that pic) lasted a good three years. It still technically works after five years but the pins in the charger port came loose so it can't recharge. Can't speak for subsequent versions, but they definitely last if you look after them. Then again, there's other ways of playing music on a portable device now so... I'm not sure if I'll ever buy another iPod, especially if data usage plans on mobile phone contracts become more generous over time.
  13. I went to my local Tesco on Saturday night to pick up some supplies. Bread, milk, that sort of thing. I came out of the store and turned to walk down the street when, from behind me, I hear a guy shout "ginger midget" (I'm 5'0", just to add context). I turned round, and it was a group of four guys, total strangers in their late 20s/early 30s, clearly dressed up smart casual to impress with bottles of alcohol in their bag. Considering that term has been said to me around 200 billion times in the 23 years I've been living, I wasn't really offended or even shocked, and so I just looked at them with a stern and confused face as if to say, "...really??" before carrying on walking down the street. I think that's why it was a group of guys looking to impress with branded clothing, rather than a group of guys and their girlfriends. Incidentally, my female friends (probably around two thirds of my friends are female) all comment that my hair is the most attractive part of my body. So I'll stick with it. :D
  14. I don't really understand how this game ownership ('play pass'/'digital permissions'/whatever science-y term you want to use to describe it) system thing works. To be honest, I don't think anyone definitely understands it fully, with total confidence. It puts them in stark contrast to approaches made by Nintendo and SONY on their counter-parting same-generation consoles. The fact something as fundamental as what defines you as a consumer in relation to playing games on this console is quite deeply worrying, as were their confusing, overcomplicated and often ambivalent answers to fairly simple questions on the matter. It's even worse when you consider MS had full control over this press event to say exactly what they felt they needed to. Nintendo aren't holding a press conference at E3 2013 so I don't know how you're defining 'everyone'. Presumably, you meant 'no-one'.
  15. One of my best friends since I moved here has a friend who literally screams in anger over LoL. Addictive, but if you're the emotional sort, would not recommend. :P
  16. Haven't we been telling women for thousands of years to make "sensible decisions"? Heck, it's only recently that women have had the full emancipation to engage in activities which may involve alcohol at all. And yet, throughout history, you see plenty of cases of rape. Which suggests that maybe alcohol isn't really the deciding factor in sexual assaults against women. I'm not particularly interested in semantics, or definitions about certain words. It's pretty obvious what we're both saying; let's just stick to the matter at hand.
  17. I don't think anyone here is suggesting that women (who are far more likely to be victims of rape than men) shouldn't be educated about how to remain vigilant, simply because we feel that 100% of the responsibility for that crime lies with the perpetrator. Around 90% of female rape victims are attacked by men they knew before the attack, so while I am genuinely saddened to hear about your ex-girlfriend, it sadly doesn't surprise me that it occurred in that way. Can we agree on one point, though: Your ex-girlfriend wasn't to blame for that, at all. The man who raped her was, and only he was. If we're to view this issue progressively, we have to avoid using statements like "being drunk makes women partially responsible", because while most people use that statement innocuously (and I personally believe, incorrectly), it acts as a mitigating factor, or even an excuse, for rapists' behaviour, when it isn't one.
  18. I thought you were more rational than that lang :-| Honestly, though... what next? Quoting Tales of Symphonia on an essay about racism? Call of Duty/Medal of Honour on a school report about the Pacific War? The Settlers on a study of the feudal system?
  19. 200m? Please.... 5bil or gtfo.
