  1. Having to say 'No' every [bleep]ing time I pay for something at a store because they're trying to offer me some loyalty or membership card. I'm not desperate enough to want 1p back for every £1 I spend just so you can keep all sorts of data about my shopping habits and personal details.
  2. When I was on the crew, I used to keep my Private on 'Friends' because of the number of total strangers PM'ing me. It used to be maybe two or three per session. Some of them were HYTers and some were giving corrections (I worked on the Bestiary), so obviously they were welcome, but the vast majority were after nothing specific except 'being friends with a TIF staff member'. Since leaving almost five years ago, and since starting this new account about two years ago, I've been able to keep my Private on 'On' and the only hassle I've had so far has come from RS gold bots. It was a difficult balancing act, because you were staff, you were constantly in the public eye, so where normally someone would just log off/add to ignore, it didn't seem professional for me to do that, and it wouldn't represent the staff as a whole in a good light. Nowadays I just change worlds, unless I'm slaying and I've got some good spawns, in which case I just add them, pretend I'm semi-AFK, tell them when I've got to get ready for work, and ignore them just before I log off. It's actually really easy to brush people off on RuneScape, compared to XBL over a microphone.

 Why the hell are you taking that post personally? It's a good resume for the most part. You're behaving like I said, "Tim can't write a resume for shit." If I've caused offence then I'm really sorry, but why post it if you're going to rage at anyone who says 'it could be better' and offers suggestions to that end?

EDIT: Removed for any offence unintentionally caused.
  5. Might not need to be fired. As a games designer, your portolio is essential for landing decent jobs. Spending the best part of five years on a game that never made it to release doesn't look great at all.

Recovery position, phoned for ambulance, blanket to prevent hypothermia, check for head injury. Amirite? My colleagues and I have dealt with our fair share...
  7. You can like it all you want, his attempts thus far haven't worked. Forget the gun politics, he could've put it on a bonfire or chucked it into a river and it wouldn't make a difference, that's the real problem.
  8. I've made the conscious decision to ignore the above poster. I haven't enough hours to go around in never-ending circles. Did that only happen once? But it worked, right? I mean, of course every child's different, but from the video, it sounds like this guy tried a massive grounding once, discovered it hadn't worked, gave the same punishment again ('coz it'll work this time, right?), and blew the situation completely out of proportion by popping eight bullets into her laptop, as if that has any relevence to the behaviour he wants from her in future. Could've confiscated the laptop, could've taken its cost out of her allowance, could've given it to a charity ("someone more appreciative"). Why completely destroy it in a very petulant, [bleep]-for-tat way, whilst complaining that your daughter is being petulant on Facebook? That's the part I don't get. It doesn't add up from a correctional point of view.
  9. Doing first aid for the Blackburn game today. Time to see what these protests are like first-hand. And watch what only promises to be a crap game of football. EDIT: I was placed next to the press box, and I caught one jorno using Facebook he was that bored. Can't describe how awful the first half was for the neutral. I think Blackburn's first shot on target was Paul Robinson kicking the ball back to Shea Given after Villa knocked the ball out for an injury. That was like 27 minutes into the game or something. The whole of Ewood Park sarcastically applauded it. Bizarre...

I have mine setup chronologically starting with work experience, education, and then my last section is volunteer work. For my job experiences, I basically milked each one to make them appear more glamours to a future employer. The key is to basically make them cater to your strengths and the position that you're applying to. It's also good after you get one setup, to get someone like your HS counselor, a parent, someone you trust to go over it for some constructive criticism. I tend to put things in reverse chronological order too. Employers are more interested in your most recent job than what you were doing ages ago, so they'll want to see that first.
  11. I think another issue is the original punishment. I'm not sure what a three-month grounding achieves that a two-week grounding doesn't already accomplish. The point's been made. I'm not entirely convinced bad mouthing someone on Facebook (the term 'slander' is very disingenuous) is a crime proportionate to that punishment either. She's clearly done wrong, but that video is evidence that his original punishment was 1) an overreaction, and 2) completely ineffective. So I'm not sure how anyone can call this good parenting because it clearly hasn't worked. She responded to despotic parenting by doing the same offence again.
  12. Poor hygiene is actually a common myth when it comes to acne. You should wash at least once a day anyway, but it has no therapeutic effect on acne. http://www.nhs.uk/Co...ges/Causes.aspx (National Health Service, February 2012)
  13. Emotional stress can be a factor in acne, yes.
  14. Whether it's justified or not isn't for me to decide. I won't pretend to know any details. It's not how I would've dealt with it though. For one, such a display is likely to build further resentment, not compliance or understanding. Secondly, he's just literally shot to pieces the main piece of leverage he had over her. Thirdly, doing exactly the same thing back to her (some would say with the shooting, going one step further) isn't a great way to set an example. He's meant to be the adult; maybe if he wants his daughter to act like one, he should take the lead and do so first.
  15. "I'll be expecting it again if that's the case." Same meaning, better English, and so much clearer.
  16. Just tell them it's none of their business if it's that sensitive to you.

    1) Go into work Friday, one of the clients has chest infection. 2) On Saturday, notice the classic symptoms of an onsetting cold. 3) Wake up Sunday with a running nose and sneezing. 4) Got to be in work, fit and healthy on Monday. Not chance in hell of 4) happening.

My belief system works as follows: 1) Can it be proven conclusively either way? No, in this case. 2) What's your gut insinct telling you? There's no reason to believe they exist, or at least I've had no experience which could be reasonably explained by "ghosts".

I know dubstep is massive in America and pretty big in Australia, but not really known about in mainstream UK, despite there being notable and successful British dubstep artists who've had to make their money elsewhere. I have to admit, I've never understood the appeal. Maybe it's just a different culture.
  20. Morally, what's the difference between someone paying someone else to be filmed having "consensual" sex (pornography, which is legal), and someone paying someone else to have "consensual" sex (prostitution, which is illegal), assuming the safeguards on diseases, exploitation etc. are the same in both cases?
  21. Headphones out, speakers up, and I don't care any more if it's game music.
  22. You're not thinking with an open mind. You've made your opinion about twenty times so far on this thread and not changed it at any point, whilst concurrently bludgeoning anyone else possessing a contradictory point of view. That's not being open-minded.
  23. I think you're making that decision for her. If she hasn't specifically said "I want to be left alone", I would assume she would appreciate someone dropping by, keeping her company and making sure she's OK. Just don't be so touchy touchy and wash your hands. You want to prove to her you're boyfriend material, yet you're avoiding her when she might just want somebody to give two thoughts about her. As RPG said, your choice, but for what it's worth I think it's a stupid one.
