  1. So you oppose fundamentalism rather than faith per se? By your own words, problems with religious idealogy are found with extremist, as opposed to moderate, Christians/Muslims/Jews/whatever.
  2. She was feeling sick before she had the soup though... you can't put that down to food poisoning, can you? ^ Not relationship advice, more a medical observation
  3. Agreed, although it should be noted that tenacity itself isn't a solution to the original problem. It just makes people more resilient against its consequences, which itself can be a good thing or a bad thing--namely, when 'tenacity' turns into 'pig-headedness' or 'stubbornness'.
  4. Not to hurt your feelings or anything, but I wouldn't go to prom with a girl wearing that. Its too.... Idk. Weird? What do you like about it? I would. Just sayin'
  5. I'm not casting any judgement on you and her, since you're the best judge of that. However, you do realise the vast majority of people who break up don't stay in contact afterwards, don't you? Even if they were friends before dating. There's good reasons for it, closure being the biggest one. In fact, from experience, break ups between two people who were friends before dating tend to be the messiest. There's definitely a tension between both people just wishing the other would disappear, but neither person wanting to let the friendship element fall apart. In the end, you can't have both; you either have to go seperate ways, or just swallow up all the hurt and 'gloss over' it for friendship's sake, even if that means standing by while the other person finds a new relationship. I've only ever seen one such friendship actually stay in tact following a relationship. The rest have gone down in a plume of smoke.
  6. "This is the most important decision of your lives." I think about ten people have said that to me about ten different situations. They can't all be right.
  7. Double Post! Third Perfection medal today.[1] This is going to sound like a silly question but... when you're DMRing, do you aim the first four bullets at the body (because it's bigger), and only go for the head when shields are down? Or is it better to just aim for the head with all precision weapons at all times?

"I was looking for a job and then I found a job. And Heaven knows I'm miserable now." Got an interview for university tomorrow. I'm not actually that nervous... even though I should be. Maybe it's because I've not prepared properly or something...
  9. Not focusing on training combat as much as I should have.

So, you were saying about that slight addiction to 9gag... ;)
  11. Even more impressive when you see there's only four bullets left in that sniper rifle. You couldn't have afforded to miss a single shot.
  12. I don't think any sincere person on the left side of the political spectrum would honestly get behind those cretins. The term "gay" is fine, in fact, I think it would better if people used it more because it means more offensive terms get sidelined away from mainstream use. I've yet to find a gay man who's been insulted from being called gay, and I've certainly never found a gay man who'd prefer to be called "queer". Just call a spade a spade.
  13. Uhh PM me what you'd want to post. Oh aye? For moderation's sake of course... ;-)
  14. Can't you see the glaringly obvious contradiction between those two sentences? To be civil, respectful and reasonable about one's differences to another person is to be politically correct. Incorrectness in that situation would be expressing those differences through abuse and violence. Unless you're willing to admit that you want to go around beating up muslims/gays/Jews/immigrants/atheists, I don't understand why you'd take an issue against political correctness.
  15. Yes. It's more than likely they are already taking safeguards to stop them catching an infection anyway, and are probably very conscious about getting any symptoms checked by a doctor immediately. If I go into work with a cold or very mild flu, they'd face exactly the same threat from a bus journey, or spending a night in a bar, or even going to a supermarket.
  16. Even in the UK, it's a generational thing. It's only people our age that would see atheism as being anywhere close to a norm.
  17. Combat is obviously the main focus on RuneScape and that's really where your focus should be. Working on slayer gives a good all-round overview on combat for a beginner, I'm sure everyone has their own ways of discovering the game and really the whole point is to explore for yourself, using sites like this to guide you rather than tell you what to do. Honestly though, of all the games to start with... why RuneScape? Compared to some console titles, the grind and the monotony of daily RS life really isn't that great for a first experience. It's like having your first love with someone who wants to settle down at 18 and watch TV every night, rather than someone who wants to go out to a nightclub and have a fun time.
  18. No seriously. My previous account's name wasn't offensive in the slightest. It's a banned account, and I can't get the name. You're speculating at best, guessing at worst, but whatever the case, you're totally wrong.
  19. Short-course PE (basically, for those who didn't choose to do PE properly as a GCSE) in our school was a joke. I love sport, I love playing sport, I love a good contest. I also loved studying science, so I don't see it as a dichotomy between science types and sporty types. Most others in the class enjoyed a break from the more conventional subjects, even if they didn't have the enthusiasm for sport I personally did. A very few people genuinely hated the subject, and when you looked at their physique, it was nothing to do with interests, it's because they literally couldn't run. Point is, I think most people generally find playing sport a fun thing to do so long as it's not taken too seriously, regardless of what the specific sport is. You don't need to be athletic, you just need to enjoy yourself. So why did they make us do the subject by learning theory, rather than splitting us into two teams, giving us a basketball for 45 minutes and letting us get on with it? You teach anything like PE through a textbook, and you'll kill off the enthusiasm in just about everyone.
  20. THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS! This is the crux of the problem. Jagex was lazy and took the easy fix to this-- that effigies were better than runecrafting says that they need to change runecrafting, not effigies. Give players an INCENTIVE to train the skill by using the skill, rather than by using "free exp" methods like Penguins and Effigies. I find that very interesting. Up until now, those who've opposed this move have done so on the grounds that Jagex shouldn't force certain training methods and just because you don't like RC, you shouldn't have to do it for the max cape. This is a different argument altogether, since utilising the skill is central to the solution. It effectively says, "We want to use this skill just like any other, but we have no choice but to use penguins and effigies because the rewards, in terms of products and XP rates, are so [bleep] poor." From this, can we all agree that we'd all like to be able to train Runecrafting by using the skill, just like every other skill in RuneScape, and if better alternatives existed and/or Runecrafting was given a genuine purpose, we wouldn't hunting effigies so relentlessly in the first place?
  21. Are you sure it's just WW and not the collector's edition which came with OoT Master Quest?
  22. Since I work in care, and therefore I could potentially be dealing with weak immune systems, I am supposed be 48 hours clear from any symptoms of a contagious illness, 72 if those symptoms include DNV. In reality, if it's minor and I keep it under control, I'll work and take extra care about wearing gloves and washing hands (I keep handwash clipped on to me anyway). The biggest factor for me, and lots of other workers in the industry since the pay is so low, is that if I take a day off work, I don't get sick pay, so that's a full day's wage I'm not going to receive. I'm also on a zero-hours contract meaning if I pull out of work at the last minute because of illness, my employers are less likely to give me work. Our managers also have to assess whether we're fit to work everytime we take days off due to illness, which can be a hassle, although not for me personally because I'm not a permanent member of staff. The attitude I take is that I should be washing my hands thoroughly even when I'm not ill. So long as I'm not sneezing or vomiting everywhere, it isn't so much of an issue to go into work with a cold, even if the guidelines are totally opposed to that. The clients I work with are more likely to catch illnesses off each other than they are from me, if I'm being cautious enough.
  23. They have for me until I spend almost 300 hours on noncombat grinds Would you rather they simply reduce experience rates from the lamps in order to balance effigies? Jagex decided they needed to "nerf" it, you were going to get hurt one way or another.
  24. I've been looking forward to this one. To me, the drops well be secondary to the first experience of a GWD boss.
  25. Surely, locking people up until nature eventually takes its toll is also "done for the greater good". The problem is, capital punishment relies on a 'Do as I say, not as I do' philosophy (due to the inherent hypocrisy of the punishment), and generally, I don't think that approach works for people once they reach the age of eleven and start questioning the legitimacy of the figures of authority telling them to 'Do as I say...' As for being self-centered, and I realise we're going on a tangent, but can't people be self-centered for the right reasons as well as the wrong reasons, and for good causes as well as bad?
