  1. With the greatest respect, I've simply argued against the point you've made on the grounds that your argument was poorly made. That's not being disrespectful, that's called a disagreement. An implied point I was making was this: It's foolish to pretend that people of different ethnicity aren't different--they are, and that fact still has relevence. Fighting against racism doesn't mean we pretend as though black people are white. It means that in our day-to-day lives, we make every attempt to ensure black people aren't treated any differently, because they've committed the 'crime' of identifying themselves as black. Black Americans have their own identity because of the oppression they faced in the US until only relatively recently. White Americans, as far as I know, have never been oppressed to the point where they collectively needed to form a seperate identity to the ethnic group oppressing them, and generally every issue that's affected white people in America has also affected black Americans. That's why white Americans do not have their own seperate identity, distinguishable from their identity as Americans, whereas black Americans have both an ethnic heritage from being black, and a cultural heritage from being American. If you talked about the Cold War, it'd be relevent to all Americans. If you talked about the War of Independence, it'd be relevent to all Americans. If you talked about Martin Luther King's legacy, it only really has relevence to black people. That's why there is "black history" and "American history", without there being a "white history". I don't see what good it does to sweep that ugly part of American history under the carpet; do white Germans deny the Holocaust? I like to call it the "My alcohol-related antics > your alcohol-related antics" thread. Kind of grew out of that phase about two years ago.
  2. Plenty of opportunities in real life for arbitrage. Have you tried asking around at a market to see if there's any spare jobs that need doing? It's a great way to pick up experience.
  3. It is possible to live a fulfilling life in reality and play RuneScape. Sure, you might have to accept being maxed is beyond your reach but, that's when you ask yourself what your priorities are and what means most to you. Perhaps you should try asking yourself why you like merching so much. That seems to be the hook that keeps bringing you in. Try and find that buzz somewhere else, somewhere a bit more grounded in real life.
  4. My response is very good, but the framerate for me has been appallingly bad since the DT update. I'll happily concede my computer specs aren't great, but this is RuneScape we're talking about, not Civ 5. Much of its purpose is that it should run fine on low specs.
  5. One backed by scientific evidence rather than "Oh, I think that..." type statements. We are still working under the assumption that points should be backed by evidence, yes?
  6. It's irrelevent to know that black people are three times as likely to need an organ because they're more susceptible to diabetes, heart disease and kidney death? I'm not sure the medical professionals called to care for a black or Asian patient suffering from acute renal failure would agree with you there. Stop making blanket generalisations.

At your age, you're a long way off dying from something like an MI. Just take it easy for a while.
  8. I'd like to say I'm surprised but, once he made that interview to the Italian broadcaster, his position was completely untenable without some serious backtracking, which I think we all know Capello isn't very capable of doing. I'm not sure how to judge his legacy; an appalling bad World Cup campaign, sandwiched by brilliant performances both before and after the tournament in friendlies and Euro qualifiers, including a win against the best international team in the world in what proved to be his penultimate game, punctuated by aloof and very careless responses to the Terry-Bridge affair, Rio Ferdinand's brief captaincy, and now the Terry-Anton Ferdinand dispute. Great manager who, when tested, failed to provide the goods? I was hoping this year's Euro tournament would give him a chance to prove otherwise against Germany, the Netherlands and Spain. It's a shame he's basically talked himself out of that opportunity. As for Harry... Spurs won't let him go cheaply, especially if they can be assured of Champions League money with a top four finish. EDIT: Just noticed: Strange how three different problems come down to the same person, isn't it?
  9. It's not really "your" spot or anyone else's for that matter, so I don't see the sense in moralising this problem, especially not by using absolute reasoning such as "first come first served". Either stand up and fight against the crashing, or hop worlds. I usually prefer the latter, unless I'm sure I can counter-crash them by stealing their previous spawn.
  10. The name of my perm banned character still isn't free. 'Coz I'll be returning after a few years to play on that account, right?

[hide=Meanwhile, on M.I.A.'s Last.fm page:][/hide] I'mma say this once, yeah, she don't give a [bleep] that that image has ended up being her main profile picture.
  12. Woah, seriously? Is that just for the Elite Fremmy tasks or everyone?
  13. Sadly not... I believe the FPS issues were partially fixed with a hidden update yesterday but... they may have done some work today also. I don't know. It's good anyway. :-P

  15. From the looks of the question I don't think you've done any background research on Jad at all. If you're doing the ranged method, which looks likely with those stats, it's not really a "cakewalk" with any stats. You need to practise the timing and prayer switching, learn which attack he's about to use, and prepare properly on the wave before Jad appears. Also learn the sounds, where he spawns, where you should be standing (Italy Rock) and how to get the healers off him. There's a very precise way of defeating the waves leading to Jad, make sure you've put it all to memory. Accept the fact you'll probably fail the first time, whether that's down to human error or lag. It's a safe minigame; all items are retained on death, except the ones you've used of course (bolts, potions etc.) Statwise, if doing the ranged method, I'd like it to be 80 ranged but 76 is fine.
  16. You mean, for example: Flask A contains two dosesFlask B contains three dosesFlask C contains one doseFlask D is empty. You're asking if you could put the contents of A, B and C into D, accepting that A, B and C would all be destroyed in the process of filling Flask D?
  17. Oh look, they can't be refilled. God, now there's a surprise. Glad to see about the DG slayer drops. It's just more fair, but doesn't take away the ability for a team to give drops to lower levelled slayers.
  18. Dalglish, Suarez, Blatter, Capello, Terry, the Chelsea fans shouting at Rio, the United fan last week who got charged, the Liverpool fans wearing those t-shirts at Wigan... I look at other sports and I just wonder where the hell football is at with these guys. How on earth you can even attempt to reason or make excuses for what Suarez and Terry have been banned and charged for respectively baffles me. If I made the comments those two made to my colleagues, as they did to Evra and Ferdinand, it wouldn't even go to a tribunal, I'd be sacked by the end of the day. But because they're involved in football, it's reasonable, it's being caught up in "the heat of the moment"... it's crazy. [hide=This is the eye gouging] You really have to wonder why his hand was on his face in the first place. I've know way of knowing if he meant to make contact with the eyes, but I do know that his hand has no right to be there.[/hide]
  19. This makes for interesting reading: http://en.wikipedia....ety#Controversy Perhaps not a scam exactly, just not a balanced trade either.
  20. Thumbs up if you're watching this in 2012!
  21. Sportsmen are defined by winning or losing. Eli has two rings, Peyton has one.
  22. I didn't say there was anything wrong with Psych. GP and psych were the two disciplines I was looking at before deciding to leave, since they're more concerned about providing holistic care whereas other disciplines are focused on surgery, pathology and diseases, which I personally found very difficult to focus on without wanting to ask questions about a patient's lifestyle, sleeping patterns etc.. Even I'm not willing to argue, however, that GP/Psych is what most of my fellow students wanted to do--mostly, they wanted CT--hence why you don't need to be so much of a "dick" to get into them because there's less competition.
