  1. Following the Evolution of Combat update, mind, chaos and death runes became much less useful, especially in the free version. However, I've an idea on how the catalytic runes can be made more useful again. The idea is that each standard combat spell would have a "power mode" that can be toggled. In this mode, the spells would consume extra catalytic runes (if available) and do a small amount of extra damage, maybe no more than 15% or so. I've kept the damage buff low as to not devalue Ancient Magicks, but it should still be useful for people who train magic via combat. When power mode is activated, each group of spells would consume an additional catalytic rune or runes as follows: Strike spells: 1 mind rune Bolt spells: 1 chaos rune Blast spells: 1 death rune Wave spells: 1 blood rune Surge spells: 1 blood rune + 1 death rune For example, suppose Fire Blast deals a base damage of 200 (this is just an arbitrary number as it's hard to calculate spell damage) at the cost of three each of fire and air runes. If power mode is enabled and the player has death runes, the spell will do up to 230 base damage and consume a death rune in the process. If the player runs out of death runes, the base damage reverts to 200 unless the player finds more death runes. With power mode disabled, the spell will be limited to 200 damage and not consume any extra runes.
  2. Very nice, especially considering that training fletching costs money now. :D
  3. I figured the Runespan update might have had something to do with the crash, but the strange thing is that the prices didn't change much until about a year later. The Runespan was released at the end of April 2012, yet the prices only started to plummet the following spring. Even with the Runespan update, runecrafting is still useful for making money, especially for players who can craft double nature runes.
  4. I've noticed that both regular and pure essence have crashed to around 16 GP each at around the beginning of this year. Anyone know what might have caused the prices to drop so much?
  5. A long time ago, I made a bunch of "RuneScape addicts outside of RuneScape" pictures, with this being one of them: Seven years later, this picture seems to have become really popular for some reason. It has been featured on at least two major RuneScape-related Facebook pages, and it was also posted in a fairly large RuneScape-related group no less than three times in the last 24 hours. Pretty flattering, if you ask me!
  6. I think we should be able to compost burnt food. Isn't that what's done in real life?
  7. Jagex recently added the ability to upgrade a regular gem bag with more dungeoneering tokens. Does the "upgrade" act as a second gem bag, or does it replace the original one? If it replaces the regular gem bag, then I have two additional questions: 1. The regular gem bag is available for all players, but the upgraded version is for members only. If a player buys the upgrade but later stops being a member, does this mean he or she will no longer have access to the bag unless they destroy the upgraded version? 2. The original version can hold up to 100 of any F2P gem, but only 60 of each gem after the upgrade. What happens if a player tries to upgrade a bag that already has more than 60 of a certain type of gem? Thanks!
  8. Can anyone else confirm this? I could find no other sources that corroborate this information. Hotfixed. I just find it strange that there was no mention of it elsewhere. Such a glitch (no matter how short-lived) would normally be widely discussed due to the impact it'd have on the game. Perhaps it only affected certain players under very specific conditions.
  9. Can anyone else confirm this? I could find no other sources that corroborate this information.
  10. I recently noticed that small fishing nets have an unusually high price of almost 800 GP. As an experiment, I tried putting around 50 of them on the Grand Exchange, and they actually sold. That's a profit of over 35k for just a few minutes of work. But I don't understand why people would pay so much for them. They are not consumables, and one is already included on the toolbelt. People who need them for Hunter only need to go to a fishing store and buy them for 40 GP each. So why is there such a high demand for them?
  11. If I try to start a new topic right after making a post, the forum requires me to wait a short time before letting me continue. I understand this is for anti-spam purposes. However, it would probably be better if the check was done when the post is made, not when a draft is started. It would take longer to write a well-thought out post than for the timer to expire, and users could take their time to work on the draft while the throttle is in place. This change would make things more convenient for frequent posters while still preventing troublemakers from flooding the forum. Thoughts?
  12. I don't think you're ever too old. RuneScape may be geared towards teens, but I've met many players who were parents.
  13. I'm happy to say that I finally reached level 99 woodcutting in RuneScape after a very long semi-hiatus! I haven't played that much in the past few years as I've been fairly busy in real life, so this was my first big achievement in a long time. This was especially challenging for me as I got most of the experience in F2P, and I frequently had to compete with bots for unoccupied trees. I know level 99 woodcutting isn't such a big thing anymore, but I'm proud to say that this was 100% legit. In other words, no bots, no character sharing, no nothin'! I'm still deciding on what my next goal will be, but I'm thinking about going for 99 runecrafting. :-)
  14. I love the Treasure Hunter changes. It means I no longer have to throw away the members crap I can't use but might later find useful should I become a member again.
  15. Something strange just happened: I was slicing open dung beetles when I got a message saying I earned a Treasure Hunter token. But when I opened the Treasure Hunter interface, it still said I was out of keys. I logged out and back in, but that didn't help. Anyone else experience this?
  16. Here's a really old one: http://ladymedusamoldfield.50megs.com Personally, I've always thought in-game weddings were silly unless the "couple" were already in a relationship in real life.
  17. I just saw this ad on the RuneScape website: At first glance, I thought it said, "9 million players choose Tip.It."
  18. Gah, my membership expires next week. What terrible timing!
  19. Anyone know if there are any restrictions on playing Treasure Hunter on Entrana?
  20. I'm not sure if Jagex changed the odds of getting super-rare items, but I rolled a Lucky Saradomin Godsword last night! I cashed out as my membership is expiring soon, but I'm definitely not complaining about getting 9m GP for free. :D
  21. It looks like free players can still get members crap they can't use.
  22. According to the unofficial RuneScape wiki, many safe spots no longer work due to monsters developing new ranged and/or magic attacks. But have any new safe spots been created due to EoC changes? Or are there just fewer safe spots in EoC?
  23. It's theoreitcally possible, but it's very hard unless you get an extremely valuable drop, etc.
  24. I'm with Golvellius here. As much as I'm interested in pre-EOC combat, I can't see how it could possibly integrate with EOC. The best solution I could come up with is to have separate servers.
