  1. I'm going to vote for double XP. Items can be lost; experience normally can't. Plus, I always have the worst luck when it comes to drops. :)
  2. I'm really excited about the return of special attacks!
  3. I didn't want to create a separate topic about it, but I just passed 100 million total EXP. There could have been no better timing!
  4. I finally reached 2,000 skill total after a very long semi-hiatus. I know this isn't such a big deal anymore now that we have so many skills, but I figured it was worth posting anyway. :-)
  5. I just got members again (for the first time in over five years, haha) through the recent penny promotion. From what I gather, the axe is supposed to be available to all members. I know players used to be able to obtain it by completing part of the Troll Warzone tutorial, but it is my understanding that the tutorial has been removed. The unofficial RuneScape wiki says I can get it from Major Rancour, but none of the four dialogue options result in her giving it to me. Is there something else I need to do first? Or has the axe been removed from the game? I know this is probably a ridiculously stupid question, but I can't figure out for the life of me how to get that axe. Any advice would be much appreciated.
  6. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I couldn't find the answer in the official FAQ. I know there is a 10,000 GP outgoing trade limit for free players that goes away when the player becomes a member for the first time. Does activating a bond remove the trade limit, or does the player have to become a member the traditional way?
  7. I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, bonds allow many players to experience the full game without paying real money, considering that making GP is a lot easier than it was many years ago. For example, they can be very useful to children whose parents who aren't comfortable with making online purchases. People who spent real money on membership could advance far faster than free players, but bonds greatly reduce this unfair advantage. Heck, even I'm considering buying a bond or two in the near future. :D But at the same time, I feel that bonds devalue gameplay as anyone who has a job in real life can buy a bunch of bonds with real cash and get ridiculously rich in-game with almost no effort. I also don't see how bonds will fully stop RWT; players who are rich in the game can still make real money buy selling their gold or in-game items at lower rates. But then again, this probably doesn't make a big difference anymore as rule-breakers have been selling membership pins for ages. I'll probably get flamed for this, but I feel the pros of bonds outweigh the cons. The MMORPG HoboWars employs a similar system in which players can buy donator packs (the RuneScape equivalent of membership) for in-game currency, and nobody has complained. I don't see why RuneScape can't benefit from the same system.
  8. Back when Facebook was new, people seemed eager to connect with each other. I added many of my old classmates, as well as received a bunch of friend requests from them. I accepted all of the them because I'm pretty open, and most other people also accepted mine. However, things seem to have changed now. Case in point, a considerable amount of friend requests I've recently sent to people I know are still pending. They seem to be active on Facebook, which suggests they aren't interested in accepting my friend requests. Even two of my childhood friends waited several months before accepting them. I'm also getting unfriended by real-life acquaintances more often now. I know Facebook "friendships" are no big deal, but it seems people are becoming pickier about who they want to connect with. One reason I could think of is that the novelty of social networking is long gone. I guess privacy is also an issue as people seem to think that becoming "friends" with someone on Facebook gives them access to their personal information - even though it's not who you become "friends" with, but what kind of information you share online. I'm sure there are other reasons as well. For those of you Tip.It'ers that use Facebook, I have a few questions: 1. Are your friend requests getting rejected more or less often, or is there no change? 2. Are you getting unfriended more or less often? 3. Have you become pickier about Facebook "friends" yourself?
  9. I was talking about the late stages of RuneScape Classic before RS2 was released. Bots weren't as big of an issue then. It's possible that I got the number wrong, but there were at least 150,000 players at the time.
  10. It depends on where they're buying from. Gold sellers generally fall into two main types: those that work for companies, and personal sellers (such as stakers and merchants) who happen to be rich.
  11. Whenever a player dies, they are "granted another life" to respawn in the city of their choice. Generic characters that are killed also respawn after a short time. As far as game mechanics go, this is most likely to ensure there is a constant source of XP and gold, and because permanent death usually aren't a feature of most RPGs. But when major characters (like the prince and princess from "Blood Runs Deep") are killed, they stay dead. This is probably to keep the story going. However, is there any in-universe explanation of why they're not "granted another life" as a generic adventurer would be by the powers that be? I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find any official explanation.
  12. I would say that RuneScape is past its prime. A long time ago, it was common to have more than 250,000 players online at once, and most of them weren't bots. Sadly, those days are long gone. There's a reason the game isn't billed as the "world's most popular free MMORPG" anymore.
  13. It sounds a little too good to be true, but I guess time will tell.
  14. I'm looking for 160-180 each, or 300k for all of them. PM me in-game or post here if interested. Edit: All gone!
  15. Did Jagex just temporarily make mining a buyable skill?
  16. Jagex split RuneScape Classic into its own game and stopped updating it after RS2 was released. I wonder if the same will happen to RS2 once RS3 is out?
  17. I occasionally hear about people being DDoS'ed in RuneScape. However, I'm having doubts as to whether this is really possible. From what I gather, there are two types of RuneScape-related DDoS attacks: 1. The attack is performed against a game server. 2. The attack is performed against a specific player. It seems to me that the second type is a lot more common, for a few reasons: 1. A company like Jagex (which generates most of its revenue from online services) is likely to have significant protection against such attacks. 2. DDoS attacks are often used for political purposes. If it was really that easy to DDoS RuneScape, people protesting against controversial updates would likely be using them instead of rioting. In most reports of DDoS attacks, they are used to gain an unfair advantage. But even in the latter case, the attacker would still need the victim's IP. I can only think of two situations in which they could acquire it: 1. The attacker is an administrator on a site that the victim has visited. 2. The attacker's and the victim's computers have directly connected (such as using AIM's direct IM feature). Even then, most computers are on a private network (and will have a class A, B or C address) instead of being connected directly to the Internet. Any DDoS attack would affect the router at the ISP instead of the victim's computer. So are DDoS attacks in RuneScape just a myth? Or is there any truth to them?
  18. I don't think the situation has changed. At least there were still loads of them chopping willows in Draynor last night.
  19. Does the level 5 cap merely mean the player stops gaining EXP once they reach it, or does it prevent them from using the skill (e.g., making potions) altogether?
  20. [spoiler=Does Guthix...]really die? Perhaps this is one of the reasons Jagex removed the original god spells during the EoC update.
  21. I had 52 random event gifts (which were originally frog tokens) that I never around to using. But when I tried to open them, they simply disappeared. I'm guessing this was due to the removal of random events last October. Is this normal?
  22. IIRC, Tip.It has always had a rule against advertising trades between RuneScape and RuneScape Classic.
