  1. Anyone remember back when Andrew actually threatened to sue Tip.It for calling Jagex out on banning innocent players?
  2. I'd sure like to know which J-mod came up with this brilliant idea. Too bad Anonymous/Lulzsec/etc. probably aren't too "interested" in gaming websites... *whistles*
  3. When I first saw this thread, I thought Tip.It had gotten early access to the redesigned RuneScape website.
  4. I'll admit that my original "idea" wasn't very bright. But my point is, people can gamble as long as there is a way to generate a random number. For example: 1. Asking a passerby to utter a random number (as I just mentioned) 2. The number of characters in the name of the next player who passes through the Al Kharid gate 3. The number of hits it takes to kill a cockroach soldier 4. The amount of damage inflicted by a fire blast (assuming it's uniformly distributed) 5. Betting on a staker 6. The number of iron ores that are successfully smelted With regards to damage done, one simple rule would be "Is the number is a multiple of 2 or 3?" That would provide a nice 2:3 probability.
  5. Not necessarily. One way to ensure neutrality would be to play the game in a closed friend/clan chat, while the "referee" uses public chat. Each player would have their private chat turned off. That way, the "referee" cannot tell a dicer what number to pick, or even see who is playing. Alternatively, they can pay a passerby to utter a random number between 1 and 6, etc. Edit: I wonder how long it will be before someone makes an auto-talker that gives out random numbers.
  6. How is this going to stop people from using "human dice"? All they have to do is to have a "referee" player speaking out random numbers, as if (s)he were a dice.
  7. Does this mean that one has to be a member in order to view the hiscores, or does it mean that current non-members will not show up? Or could it be both?
  8. Lure the scorpion to the low-level bots, and hope it gets lucky. This link provides more information, if you're curious: http://forum.tip.it/topic/286958-methods-for-killing-bots/
  9. Up until the October 25 update, I've spending an average of an hour a day trying to kill the fishing bots on Karamja. Well, here are the drops I've obtained: Assuming that the bots are gone for good, the fish should gradually go up in price. I just hope angry botters won't see this thread and try to hack my account. :P
  10. Heh, I can imagine the jury selection now. "Is anyone here unable to render a fair and impartial verdict, such as by being an active RuneScape player or friends with one?"
  11. Wow, is "Ignite" really Andrew's personal account? I remember many years ago when "Ignite" was advertising a program called RuneTech (I believe it was a toolkit used by the Wanderers) on another forum, but the moderators removed the link because they couldn't be sure it was safe. LOL.
  12. Thanks for posting this. I've been waiting for the pictures for ages! By the way, anyone got pictures of the food? LOL.
  13. As we all know, the RuneFest hoods and the golden scythe isn't tradable in-game. However, the scratch-off cards can obviously be given to another person in real life. In fact, I've already seen people trying to "trade" these items. For one thing, this could be considered RWT because the code "exists" in the real world. On the other hand, it becomes useless once the code is redeemed. A couple of days ago, I saw someone trying to sell a golden scythe code (I think) for $500 on the RSOF. A Jagex mod posted in the thread but didn't say anything about it being against the rules. The thread was later locked, and I think the main reason for it was that trust trades aren't allowed on the official forums. So my questions are: 1. Is it considered RWT to trade RuneFest codes for RS items? 2. Is it considered RWT to sell RuneFest codes for real money? By the way, I'm not trying to "sell" any RuneFest items. I'm just asking of of curiosity.
  14. Jagex actually used to have an alpha server that they made available to select players back in 2001. IIRC, it was hosted on a laptop and was only accessible shortly before an update. I think Jagex should definitely start doing this more!
  15. It was cooking, back in April 2003. I was the 40th person to reach level 99 cooking, so it was pretty special then. Now everyone and their grandmas seem to have a level 99 stat. :P
  16. I would sure love to get my hands on the dirtbag that did this...
  17. Thanks, Saradomin_Mage!

  18. Given that referral links aren't allowed here, I suspect that the mods are going to be very busy in the days to come. Of course, I personally wouldn't mind if an exception was granted for RuneScape referrals. *hint hint*
  19. Blast, I already voted. :-( Where's Anonymous when you need them?
  20. I wouldn't bot. Greater sense of achievement, you know?
  21. @OP Just curious, what technique do you use to record the data? I know that it can be easily done by using regular expressions and a data mining program like R. I assume that you did something like this?
  22. I've heard that Jagex recently nerfed the bloated toad method. :(
  23. For the record, Dirtydevil has been playing RS since 2011. I don't think such a seasoned veteran would be going around making up lies.
