  1. Everyone has a right to criticize ideas constructively. However, some of your comments are leaning towards the insulting side. Per forum guidelines:
  2. Just curious, does anyone here participate in any distributed computing (DC) projects? For those unaware, a DC project is a project that harness the power of many ordinary PCs to solve problems that require many computational steps. DC projects often have the pwoer of supercomputers. Many people leave their PCs on all the time and not use them. This is a waste of CPU cycles. In that time, their PCs could be used to solve such problems. You can find out more about DC projects here: http://distributedcomputing.info I personally participate in GIMPS (mersenne.org; the Great Internet Search for Mersenne primes) as well as the distributed.net projects. This computer is currently testing whether 2^26245511-1 is prime. :P
  3. I've seen many treasure trail guides, and it seems that many of the level 3 trails don't seem challenging enough, especially when compared to some high-level quests like Desert Treasure. Perhaps we need a new type of treasure trails: level 4 ones. These clues should only be dropped by the by the most diffucult monsters: Ket-Zek, Kalphite Queen, chaos elemental, steel dragons, king black dragon, dagannoth kings, and dark beasts. These drops should be about as rare as getting a d2h from a kalphite queen. The trails should be about 10-15 steps long, with each often involving fighting a very difficult monster or solving a difficult problem. For monsters, players may be required to kill a dagannoth king to get a key to certain areas. Or a player might have to dig somewhere and fight a level 450 undead pirate. And here are possible rewards: Up to 3 dragon items 1k-500k gold 1-500 blood runes 1-150 soul runes 1-1000 death runes Maybe some items from this topic? 1-2000 rune essence 1-100 high-level pies And here are other special items: (With chances of getting particular items from a certain trail) 1/15 chance: Abyssal whips (enough to keep treasure hunters interested, but hopefully not enough to upset level 85+ slayers) 1/45 chance: disk of returning 1/50: Easter egg 1/50: pumpkin 1/100: santa hat 1/150: halloween mask 1/500: half jug of wine 1/1200-1/2000: party hat 1/3000: Christmas cracker I know that rares are a debatable subject for some. But read the odds. That means that it's about 2000 times harder to get a party hat from a level 4 trail than getting a d2h from the KQ.
  4. You guys make very good points. Also, someone has suggested that treasure trails give rare items. Not a bad idea, but this will still upset some merchants. Maybe we need "level 4" trails (see my topic on "class 4 treasure trails" which I shall post shortly).
  5. In light of recent events of RuneScape Classic, I suggest that Jagex should add some features to RS2 to compensate the removal of RSC to free and paying users alike: One the losses is the thrill of PKing. Yep, the 3 round rule. Jagex should add a large section of Wilderness to both free and Members, and make it so that once you fight, you can't retreat until 3 melee rounds have passed. Also, for dueling, Jagex should add the duel anywhere feature back. As for removing the free version, I think Jagex should add a small kingdon with 3 large new quests for the free version. Also, for Members who can't play RSC, Jagex should add a largge new kingdom with a whole new series of epic quests.
  6. Was this the same persont that killed himself several weeks ago?
  7. So dagannoth kings drop the Seercull and special rings, and abyssal demons drop whips. However, I think that we should have many more of these special items. Note: I stole the ideas from the game Exile III, lol. Monster: Naga (level 240, aggresive) These are legendary snake creatures with the face of a woman. Their attacks are magic based (they can cast up to Earth Wave) and are resistant to magic. Their melee attacks are weaker but can poison if they hit. They can be found in dark caves. They can also summon monsters up to level 50. Rare drops: Amulet of the Cobra, asp-skin gloves Amulet of the Cobra: Makes your poison do 1 HP extra damage per time interval, and makes you take 1 HP damage less. asp-skin gloves: more common, makes player do 1 HP extra damage in poison, but does not reduce poison and adds +3 to each damage defense Monster: Zkal (level 380, aggresive) Zkal is a lich who lives in a magical tower that drains the magical energy of players as soon as they enter. Zkal has level 99 prayer and magic and can cast all the spells that a level 99 mage can cast, including Teleblock! Rare drops: Ring of Endless Magery The ring has +20 magic bonus to both offensive and defense areas, and a "rub" option, which gives players +5 magic to their magic skill at any one time. After it has been used 40 times, it loses the "rub" option, although it still provides the +20 magic bonus. The player can take it to a "strange wizard" to get it recharged for 100k gp. Other rare and semi-rare items from existing monsters: Dark beasts: Micah's gloves (+15 magic, +4 defense to each damage type), nimble gloves (+3 defense to each damage type, makes thieeving easier) Black demons: Helm of speed (allows player to have up tp +20% run energy above normal) (+6 defense to each damage type) (ie: 120%, etc) Red dragons: Ring of speed (same as helm of speed but no defense bonuses) Chaos elemental: Boots of Apollo (gives player 20% extra run energy, has +3 defense to all damage, and reduces all [mass] carried by 6kg, minimum 0 kg), boots of speed (weaker version, gives 15% instead) Infernal mages: Ring of Will (+12 offensive and defense magic, player has better chance to resist curse and Teleblock spells) Green dragons: Aescal's Ring (heals player completely when rubbed, can only be rubbed once, player can get it recharged by a "faith healer" for 20k gp) Black dragons: Amber periapt (reduces poison damage by 1 HP, reduces disease "damage" by 3 stat points), Lifeshield (same as Ring of Life but gives 3 uses, +40 defense to melee and range, +5 magic defense) Giant skeletons (140): Silver ankh (+25% defense when fighting undead), Lifesaver Amulet (same as Ring of Life but with two uses) Fire giants: Fire stone (thrown weapon, needs 30 range and has effect of fire bolt, but gives range exp instead), exploding arrow (needs yew short to fire, has effect of Fire Blast after after normal damage resembling that of a bronze arrow, and gives ranged exp) Otherworldly beings: Alien blade (+40 slash, +22 stab, -4 range and crush), a permanently poisoned blade that does initial poison damage of 2. Special attack: if successful, does 120% damage and instantly poisons (25% used) Dropped by multiple monsters: Onyx charm (+30 to melee and range defense, +40 magic defense) Flaming sword: +30 slash, +15 slash, -2 magic and crush, extra damage against water-based creatures. Special attack: Burn (hits enemy with Fire Blast-like spell but gives melee damage, uses 25%) Bow of Kag: This longbow uses two arrows at a time. When first found, it only does the firepower of one arrow. However, the player can take it to a ranging guild researcher will give the bow its full potential for 200k gp and 2k bronze arrows. Heartfinder: An enchanted rapier with permanent poison that does 4 damage initially. It has stats +50 stab, +30 slash, and -5 crush. Special attack: Heart strike (does 130% damage usually with a 10% chance to do a 30+ damage hit, this chance goes up witht he player's attack level, uses 45% special) Krysknife: a weaker version of the Heartfinder, has +40 stab, 20 slash, and -4 crush. Special attack does 120% damage if hits and has chance to do a 20+ damage hit. Uses 35% of special meter. Mace of Disruption: +60 crush, +40 stab, -8 slash, and does 150% damage against undead. Special attack: Pound (does 200% normal damage, but attack reduced by 15%), uses 25% special The following items should be considered very rare: Onyx Sceptor: a powerful magic staff with +35 magic, +20 stab, and +70 crush. requires level 90 magic and 50 attack to wield. Special attack: Temporal Strike (does spell that does up to 35 damage and Teleblocks for 2 minutes, uses 75% special) Ring of Resistance: +50 defense to each damage type, reduces poison and disease effects by 3 stat points Smite: +100 crush, -20 stab, slash, range, and magic. This is a magical hammer that does 160% damage against giantkind, needs 75 strength to wield. Special attack: Smite (does a powerful attack that does 2x damage, uses 25% attack) Death Lance: +100 stab, +30 magic, and -15 else. Needs 50 magic and 75 attack to wield. Special attack: Kill (does a magical blast that does up to 45 damage, uses 100% meter) Obsidian Halberd: +120 slash, +100 stab, +25 crush, and -20 else. Needs 80 attack and strength to wield. Special attack: Slay (does 2x damage), uses 50% special Pachtar's Plate: A playe worn by a legendary armor: Gives +140 to all non-magic stats, with -10 magic. Needs level 80 defense to wield. Comments and criticism welcome.
  8. I think the Master Merchant is right. :P
  9. There has been a long time argument about the future of rares. People always tend to disagree on whether rares should be kept as is, be removed, or made available to everyone. After pondering those points, here is the best solution I came up with. However, I'm sure that someone else has better ones.
  10. You only need that requirement in order to buy from the shop.
  11. A reasonable guess is that rares double in value every 6 months. So after several years, they may be worth billions. It's a bit unfair if someone gets a party hat very early and just waits several years, while other players have to play 24/7 for years in order to get one. But that's just my opinion.
  12. So Jagex disallows advertising of sites, and clan members might not be smart enough to think "Maybe my clan has a website. I should Google for it." But clan sites are an integral part of clan workings. So I'd say that Jagex let clan leaders make a clan page. It will be similar to a My Space profile or group, but with few differences. Clan pages will have a description of the clan with requirements, rankings, a list of members that links to hiscores, and their own private forum. People who wish to join may apply, and clan leaders may choose to accept or decline. But to prevent abuse, Jagex mods should, of course, be able to view all portions of clan pages.
  13. There has been much debate on the subject of the future of rare items. Before I give my suggestion, I must acknowledge the different sides of the debate. Some players argue that rare items should stay as is since they are status symbols. However, others argue that everyone should have a chance to get them, if they work hard enough. After all, RuneScape is a game where everyone should have an equal chance. So here is my idea. Certain shops should sell these items. But to prevent people from getting upset that their items have suddenly decreased in value, the shop price should be considerably higher than that of the street value. Also, the shops should be very hard to access. Party hats - sold in "nobility shop" in the Legends' Guild. It sells party hats from 100 to 180 million gp, depending on color. It will only sell to "noble" players with 1,500 skill total and 50 million total exp. Masks - sold by mime artist. For players who have unlocked all the mime emotes: the next time they receive a mime, once they complete the mime, the mime artist will personally praise their acting skills. He will invite them to his home, where the player can buy masks for 15 million gp each, or ask to be returned to where they were. Pumpkin seeds - sold in legends guild for 5 million gp each. They require level 95 farming and take 4 weeks to grow. Farmers will claim that their families are poor and will charge 1.5 million gp to look over the pumpkin. They give 5k exp when planted and 250k exp when harvested. Each harvest will usually only yield one, though once in a blue moon, a very lucky farmer will get two. Santa hats - monster drop only Christmas crackers and disks of returning - sold by Yanni Salika for 300 million gp and 10 million gp, respectively. He will only sell to those who have completed One Small Favour. Easter eggs - sold by traveling "Food Painter" for 10 million gp. He will only sell to those who "truly appreciate the beauty of food", or those who have completely finished Recipe for Disaster. He travels around like Bob the Jagex Cat. Half wine - sold by the Mithril Chef (parody of iron chef :P) for 60 million gp. He will also only sell to those who have completed Recipe for Disaster. Also, monsters should drop them, but very rarely. Since d-square left half costs around 2 million, NPCs should drop pumpkin seeds at the 1/3 the rate, etc.
  14. Nowadays, anyone who finds such good items would most likely keep it. Finders, keepers. The probability of a low-level player giving back that stuff is well, a snowball's chance in hell. :P
  15. Well, the other day some poor level 111 forgot earmuffs and died at banshees. I got his glory amulet, rune legs, rune kite, and warrior helm. I eventually sold the stuff. I would have given it back to the person, but I couldn't fin him, and I couldn't remember his name.
  16. Are there any items you always carry with you no matter what? For me, I always bring a stack of gp. Also, on members, I always bring my trusto Ectophail. It's gotten me out of hot water on more than one occasion.
  17. Since every monster that drops gems will drop those items, tip.it has made it clear that even the level 12 crawling hands will drop them. But it must be a very rare event. But has anyone ever gotten such items from very low monsters?
  18. oh, god please tell me you were joking when you said that because 1.)it's just a bit weird 2.)he probably just made him up for the purpose of this thread http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_and_Bob *whistles*
  19. One of the things I've noticed is the large difference between social interactions between games like RuneScape and instant-messaging services like AIM. A large number of people use AIM to chat with others. And as such, age difference seems to be a big deal in instant-messaging services. Many people, especially females, feel particularly uncomfortable when much older people of the opposite gender talk to them, for whatever reason. Consider this hypothetical AIM conversation: Bob127: hi Alice641: who's this? Bob127: just looking for someone to chat with Alice641: asl? Bob127: 18/m/ca Alice641: eew ur too old! ur 18 and i'm 11 *Alice641 adds Bob127 to block list* However, things seem very very different in RuneScape. Age difference doesn't seem that important in RuneScape. I guess that it's because the role-playing atmosphere of the game covers such barriers. Consider this RuneScape conversation: *Alice641 (level 85) and Bob127 (92) are training at lesser demons in Karamja* Alice641: Whoa! Nice cb! Bob127: Thx! Bob127: You too! :) Alice641: Member? Bob127: Used to be, but it ran out a few days ago Alice641: Same here! Alice641: How many qp you got? Bob127: 185 Alice641: That's a lot! I only have 95 :( Alice642: Hey, wanna be friends? Bob127: Sure! *Alice641 and Bob127 add each other to their friends lists* Alice641: Btw, how old r u? Bob127: 18, U? Alice641: 11 Lol Bob127: Heck, I have a 8-year-old cousin who plays *a few weeks later, when Alice641 and Bob127 both have members* Alice641: Hey, have u started new quest yet? Bob127: No, but wanna do it together? Alice641: Sure! Bob127: Ok, let's meet at start point, on world 112 This pretty much holds true. I've received quite a few IMs from younger girls who want to chat with me and suddenly decide not to because I'm "too old". However, I've interacted with much more people on RuneScape, and not one who knows my age has complained about me being too old. It's the same for immaturity. While there's still some very immature people on RuneScape, there's much less immaturity here than on AIM. I guess that the abuse-report button still does its job.
  20. Would it be a bad idea for dragon armor to have special attacks? Here are the ones I have in mind: Dragon med: Gore (25% special) butts opponent with horns - does up to 1.5x damage Dragon Square shield: Shield bash (30%) Does 1.5x damage and stuns opponent for 3 seconds Dragon chain: Protective aura (100%) - raises defense by 12% and makes player invulnerable for 10 seconds Dragon legs/skirt: Power kick (25%) - does 2x damage - player does a powerful kick against an opponent - Chuck Norris style! :P
  21. I just talked to Paul Gower via PM - he said that you can complete the subquests in any order. So even if you've completed an easier part, you can still complete the others.
  22. I don't think fan-sites will be obsolete. After all, we have free forums. :)
  23. According to the Google cache of the RuneScape random events manual, it does show "members only". http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:13Z ... =clnk&cd=4
