  1. Although I'm not a member right now: My eyes! The goggles do nothing!
  2. I made a list of new ideas for special items, and people seemed to agreee that they were overpowered. However, I've re-mae the list, and hopefully this version is more balanced. Also, I've added a few new items. Item nerfings are denoted in italics. --- So dagannoth kings drop the Seercull and special rings, and abyssal demons drop whips. However, I think that we should have many more of these special items. Note: I stole the ideas from the game Exile III, lol. Monster: Naga (level 240, aggresive) These are legendary snake creatures with the face of a woman. Their attacks are magic based (they can cast up to Earth Wave) and are resistant to magic. Their melee attacks are weaker but can poison if they hit. They can be found in dark caves. They can also summon monsters up to level 50. Rare drops: Amulet of the Cobra, asp-skin gloves Amulet of the Cobra: poison does 1 HP extra damage per time interval, and makes players take 1 HP damage less. asp-skin gloves: makes player do 1 HP extra damage in poison, but does not reduce poison and adds +3 to each damage defense Monster: Zkal (level 380, aggresive) Zkal is a lich who lives in a magical tower that drains the magical energy of players as soon as they enter. Zkal has level 99 prayer and magic and can cast all the spells that a level 99 mage can cast, including Teleblock! Rare drops: Ring of Endless Magery The ring has +7 magic bonus to both offensive and defense areas, and a "rub" option, which gives players +5 magic to their magic skill at any one time. After it has been used 10 times, it loses the "rub" option, although it still provides the +7 magic bonus. The player can take it to a "strange wizard" to get it recharged for 100k gp. (+20 reduced to +7, 40 uses reduced to 10 uses) Drake Lord (level 400) These monsters have over 500 HP, can hit over 60s in melee, and can breath fire. Rare drop: Pachtar's Plate A plate worn by a legendary warrior: Gives +70 to all non-magic stats, with -10 magic. Also offers "protection from the elements", which additionally reduces many types of damage. Needs level 80 defense to wield. (+140 defense reduced to +70) Other rare and semi-rare items: Micah's gloves: +6 magic, +4 defense to each damage type (+15 magic reduced to +6) nimble gloves: +3 defense to each damage type, makes thieving easier Helm of speed: allows player to have up tp +10% run energy above normaland gives +6 defense to each damage type (ie: 110%, etc) (+20% reduced to +10) Ring of speed: same as helm of speed but no defense bonuses Boots of Apollo: gives player 10% extra run energy, has +3 defense to all damage, and reduces all [mass] carried by 6kg, minimum 0 kg boots of speed: weaker version of Boots of Apollo, gives 7% instead (+20% and +15% reduced to 10% and 7%, respectively) Ring of Will: +3 offensive and defense magic, player has better chance to resist curse and Teleblock spells (+12 magic reduced to +3) Aescal's Ring: heals player completely when rubbed, can only be rubbed once, player can get it recharged by a "faith healer" for 20k gp Amber periapt: reduces poison damage by 1 HP, reduces disease "damage" by 3 stat points Lifeshield: same as Ring of Life but gives 3 uses, +40 defense to melee and range, +5 magic defense Silver ankh [necklace]: +18% defense when fighting undead (+25% reduced to +18%) Lifesaver Amulet: same as Ring of Life but with two uses, no stat bonuses Fire stone: thrown weapon, needs 30 range and has effect of fire strike, but gives range exp instead (fire bolt changed to fire strike) exploding arrow: needs yew short to fire, has effect of Fire Bolt after after normal damage resembling that of a bronze arrow, and gives ranged exp (fire blast changed to fire bolt) Alien blade: (+33 slash, +22 stab, -4 range and crush), a permanently poisoned blade that does initial poison damage of 2. (+35 strength) Special attack: if successful, does 120% damage and instantly poisons (25% used) (+40 slash reduced to +33 slash) Onyx charm: +15 to melee and range defense, +10 magic defense (+40 magic defense changed to +10, +30 melee changed to +15) Flaming sword: +30 slash, +15 slash, -2 magic and crush, extra damage against water-based creatures. (+25 strength) Special attack: Burn (hits enemy with Fire Blast-like spell but gives melee damage, uses 25%) Bow of Kag: This longbow uses two arrows at a time. When first found, it only does the firepower of one arrow. However, the player can take it to a ranging guild researcher will give the bow its full potential for 200k gp and 2k bronze arrows. It has the stats of a yew long. Heartfinder: An enchanted rapier with permanent poison that does 4 damage initially. It has stats +35 stab, +20 slash, and -5 crush. (+30 strength) Special attack: Heart strike (does 130% damage usually with a 10% chance to do a 30+ damage hit, this chance goes up witht he player's attack level, uses 45% special) (+50 stab reduced to +35, +30 slash reduced to +20) Krysknife: a weaker version of the Heartfinder, has +25 stab, +15 slash, and -4 crush. (+20 strength) Special attack does 120% damage if hits and has chance to do a 20+ damage hit. Uses 35% of special meter. (+40 stab reducted to +25, +25 slash reduced to +15) Mace of Disruption: +40 crush, +30 stab, -8 slash, and does 150% damage against undead. (+40 strength) Special attack: Pound (does 200% normal damage, but attack reduced by 15%), uses 45% special (+60 crush reduced to +40, +40 stab reduced to +30, special now requires 45%) The following items should be considered very rare: Onyx Sceptor: a powerful magic staff with +30 magic, +20 stab, and +40 crush. requires level 90 magic and 50 attack to wield. (+40 strength) Special attack: Temporal Strike (does spell that does up to 35 damage and Teleblocks for 2 minutes, uses 75% special) (+35 magic reduced to +30, +70 crush reduced to +40) Ring of Resistance: +20 defense to each damage type, reduces poison and disease effects by 3 stat points, also reduces other damage (ie: failing obstacle courses) by 1-2 HP (+50 melee defence reduced to +20) Smite: +60 crush, -20 stab, slash, range, and magic. This is a magical hammer that does 160% damage against giantkind, needs 75 strength to wield. (+52 strength) Special attack: Smite (does a powerful attack that does 2x damage, uses 25% attack) (+100 crush reduced to +60) Death Lance: +65 stab, +30 magic, and -15 else. (+75 strength) Special attack: Fear Strike (freezes opponent for 3 seconds if hits). Negative effect: randomly drains run energy and agility Comments and criticism welcome.
  3. As said above, there are many legit pure skillers. IMO, we need to adopt the Wikipedia philosophy of "assume good faith". :)
  4. I'd make it so that RSC would be open to everyone again.
  5. What we would use is some more bank space, we are getting full of random event items, but we can't complain, just some weeks ago they gave us 2 nice F2P ONLY updates: New treasure trails, and Wise old man stuff.[/b] I think that treasure trails are still members only. However, they did make some of the new armor available for free players. (Oh, and more bank space and RSC access would be nice as well. :P)
  6. If you could have five things added to the free version, what would they be? Although it's very unlikely that these will be added, but personally, I'd like: 1. better ranged equipment (being able to wear up to red d-dide and use up to yew bows) 2. being able to use up to rune boots 3. a high level moneter with a rare drop (members have dust devils that drop d-chain, worth up to 23M. Free version players have greater demons that drop rune meds, worth "only" 30k). 4. some thieving (ability to pick pocket up to guards) 5. agilityand access to shortcuts. What would you like to see for the free version?
  7. I use PayPal and QuickRewards (one of those get-paid-to-join-offers sites). It takes me about a few weeks to get enough for a month of members.
  8. I don't think RuneScape passwords are case-sensitive, though. They should be, in my opinion.
  9. About five years ago, on Arpil 6th I think, Asgarnia was released, along with 4 new quests. Before that, there was a gate blocking the area, with an examine message saying "kingdom of Asgarnia - coming soon!" Back then, everyone would speculate what Asgarnia would be like. Ahh, I miss those days so much...
  10. This quest isn't really dangerous, but more on the scary part. Some parts can be very disturbing and psychologically scaring. Many of these places are can be claustrophobic. But here are some pointers: 1. Be sure to bring an anti-poison potion and maybe some food. 2. If you want to leave the place, simply log out. When you log back in, you'll be back outside. 3. Finally, remember this quote by Franklin D. Roosevelt: "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."
  11. Actually, pi is an irrational number, so it has an infinite number of digits. The 3141592 figure I used is actually floor(1e6*pi). And yes, I like math too, although I'm not particularly fond of the linear algebra class I'm taking right now. :P Back on topic, I do think that Jagex might have other future weapons planned. However, I think that Jagex will be reluctant to release them, as that might lower the demand/price for whips and upset many whip owners.
  12. Mathematically, it's possible to get d-chain drops thousands of times in a row. :)
  13. Here's an article I scanned from an old book. Sorry about the image quality.
  14. If you look at this page, you will see that the article about RuneScape is the 12th most edited, with over 7300 revisions and counting! (Although, a lot of the edits are vandalism and reverts.)
  15. I've been debating to myself about PKing. True PKing is part of the game, and most of the time, it's nothing personal. But if you killed someone in game, chances are they they won't be your friend. ("You've killed me before, why should I do the new quest with you?")
  16. I think that one of the reasons for the high demand of whips is that you don't need any to do any quests to be able to use it, so it's a pure's dream. (I've never owned one, although two of my friends have let me try theirs.) There's also something causing the recent fluctuations of whip prices. Who knows if the price will eventually stablize at 3141592 gp, or maybe even at 2718281 gp. :)
  17. If you're non-US, then you can pay with an unverified PayPal accoun. And there's a few online sites that pay you for joining offers, etc. (You might get lots of spam, though, so use an email account you don't care about).
  18. This has probably happened a quinmilliamilliatillion* times: So I got this new idea that allows a player to help another without any risks of scamming. Whenever a player has "Accept Aid" enabled, they will have a "give aid" option. Another player can do stuff for them, depending on the location. When a player accepts aid from another player, an "Aid" window comes up showing the inventory of the player that is offered aid. In this case, a player can craft for another player without the item ever leaving one's inventory. Alice is happy, and Bob gets the smithing exp, etc. Here are where certain aid is applicable: enchanting jewelry: anywhere cutting gems: anywhere cooking food: within two spaces of fire or range smithing and smelting: within two spaces of an anvil or furnace, respectively herblore: anywhere ...and so on. *a quinmilliamilliatillion is equal to 10^15000003** **maybe that's a bit exaggerated, but this type of scam has still occured countless times.
  19. Well, as people say, the speed of fletching is limited by the way you get logs. Buying them from the stores is faster than chopping them, although it's slower than buying them en masse from other players.
  20. I've heard there's a version that takes 9 months, lol. :o
  21. I'm pretty sure that most experienced players know this method already. But quite a few of my friends didn't seem to know, so I thought I'd share this with those of you who didn't. On the free version, many players chop willows for experience and sell them to the general stores. When there's a lot, willow logs sell for 12 gp each in the general stores. You can then buy as much as you want on the free version. After you fletch them, the stores will buy the unstrung longbows for 16 gp each. Not only could you level quickly, you can earn some cash too! Enjoy!
  22. I've considered this ideas well. Equal minds think alike. :)
