Guide to RuneScape's new Graphics - Do YOU meet the Req's?
Yes, a little sad. On the good side, that's probably only for 800X600 without anti-aliasing; almost any graphics card can run oldish games like that. I want to see what happens at 1920X1200 with 4X anti-aliasing; I couldn't believe it when I read that you could use anti-aliasing.

Oo, very nice. Jagex should have done this. I'll do some tests to see how accurate it is. EDIT: Disappointing. All it does is look at your system stats, instead of benchmarking something. Basically the same thing your doing with DxDiag, only slightly faster and still inaccurate until Jagex gives us some real details.

GE Buying Limits
25K cap on ALL runes, including water. 100 cap on all non-raw materials, minus a few they missed. As a rule of thumb its also 25K for raw, excluding 10K for bone bolts.

Yup, your good. I'd bump the ram up another 512 MB though, ram is cheeeeep. You can get 4 GB of desktop ram for under 100$ if you watch for deals.

Mmmm... Close call on this one. Can't say either way based on the limited information Jagex has provided, but judging by the "64 MB" spec, you may not have the necessary memory to load the textures and such. Depends if that spec was out of necessity, or just for performance reasons.

[hide=] To joey: You'll be fine, and DDR1 ram should be ok. To Makoto:It probably won't make a difference on the PCI-E, but DDR3 is far, far faster then DDR1 in many ways. All RAM is not created equal; ECC, Dual Channel, DDR1/2/3, etc... Fair point. But we're not doing quantum physics here, and as long as the machine can access the RAM, we're happy. :D[/hide] Gaming and overall performance relies heavily on ram, although the speed differences are fairly small. They are noticeable, however ;) [hide=] Yes, you make the cut by a landslide. [/hide] Can't argue there.

Why do you have such little RAM, first of all? You'd imagine that 2 CPUs need at least a gig or two between them. Anyway...if the display memory claims that it's 128 MB, I don't think you'll run into any hitches. I have no idea, honestly I was suprised when I saw that. Your ram is normal for the computer (more would be helpful, obviously). As for the video memory, the "128 MB" is just stolen from the main memory, meaning *again* integrated graphics and you may or may not be able to play it.

PCI-e is much faster than AGP (I assume you're running it at 8x), but I'm sure that they don't care. Also, RAM is RAM, regardless of its type. As long as the system can access it, that's all that matters. To joey: You'll be fine, and DDR1 ram should be ok. To Makoto:It probably won't make a difference on the PCI-E, but DDR3 is far, far faster then DDR1 in many ways. All RAM is not created equal; ECC, Dual Channel, DDR1/2/3, etc...

The shared memory myth. Your display adapter has 0 memory. Not sure if it'll run, as I've said many, many times before we need more details.

Barrows Armor - Not like Jagex had\should have planned?
It can't really drop much farther, and many pieces have stopped dropping now. And if Jagex ever makes it harder to get...

AGP? A little old... I'd say probably not. I can't give any definite answers until Jagex gives some more details. Guess you'll have to wait it out.

No need to. You have no chance whatsoever of running it. I'm halfway surprised you can run the regular runescape.

Barrows Armor - Not like Jagex had\should have planned?
Bandos and other rare armors are prone to crashes, and as a general rule are falling slowly but steadily. As I explained before, bandos is not worth it even without eating figured in. As for helping lower level players earn money.... What? How does that have to do with the stats of the armor? Its just another example, if a level 80 player can quickly and easily get armor that is as good or better then bandos, which takes a maxed player many days or weeks and millions in supplies gets, is something wrong? Or is this just how it should be?

I would have no idea whatsoever on how to do that. Maybe if you would like too? You, as you proved beyond many times. You know your stuff. I really don't have time, considering that it will be obsolete in a few weeks. However, it would help if you put this in your post: "If your system uses Intel or some types of ATI graphics, that means that it is integrated graphics that take their memory from the main system memory. They may or may not be able to run the new Runescape graphics; Jagex has not released enough information about them to be sure one way or the other."

The 7600GS really isn't that bad, its far ahead of shared graphics. You should have no problems with Runescape.

Like I said, performance in integrated graphics varies greatly. It also helps that you can lower the settings on those games very, very low... Changing the resolution alone can result in a 6X or greater performance increase. You will more then likely be able to play it in the browser window, but if your screen has a high resolution you will probably not be able to play fullscreen in your native resolution. I really can't help you more without knowing your exact graphics card name. And yes, I do know what I'm talking about, I do this for a living. : Its Intel® G33/G31 express chipset family (chip type GMA 3100), as far as I know this is quite basic. That is quite basic, you probably have all the settings for those games at the lowest. I wouldn't promise that Runescape can run on it.

Erm.. how can I go into detail about it? You could explain how the memory results are misleading, and provide graphs and benchmarks showing the performance of different types of integrated graphics vs. discrete graphics to help people understand how their cards perform, and give information on how they will work with the new graphics. Or at least mention it, and say that whatever amount of memory it says is basically useless, invalid and misleading information. :)

Do what you want, but I'd bet that if you added up all the extra time eating and banking because of bandos you'd end up spending more then if you just repaired the barrows, and bandos is probably going to go down anyway. Plus you don't have to worry about barrows crashing.

Lighting has been suggested many times : As for character detail, that's only in talk heads for dialog. But back on topic: you should add some more details about shared graphics, sentry. Even integrated graphics "seem" to have 256MB plus of memory, but many of them probably will not be able to run it. Applogies for off topic: "The human NPC improvement alone is the single largest project of its type to date, with humans accounting for approximately 15% of all NPCs (1,500 out of 10,000 unique models), and the player kit consisting of over 4,000 body parts and clothing." If you look at the pictures, the whole player detail thing as a whole is getting an overhaul. =D> In the picture, our faces are slightly more detailed, but still just slits for eyes and no mouth. Those amazing close ups of the player head in a dragon med helm are only for the chat interface. Back on topic: Sorry for the slow responses people, I'm *trying* to ice burst lobsters while typing these answers.

It means integrated graphics, which we don't really know if they will run the new version. Offhand I'd say no, but Jagex needs to release some more details on it.

Graphics that use your system's memory and have much slower processors built in. The opposite of a discrete graphics card, which has its own high speed processor and memory.

Barrows Armor - Not like Jagex had\should have planned?
Bandos for bosses? The only possible use is in a team where you have more then enough food anyway. Soloing, the melee minion will hit you far more then the extra max hit from the +6 strength, and the +2 range defence is meaningless. Bandos is questionably useful for monster hunting, but as I've showed only those with cash they would never use anyway should buy it for that.

Pentium... 3? Yeah, its time for an upgrade. Good luck running the new runescape on that :-#
