F2P Mage and range underpowered
I usually do back things up, but this was my own fault. Was doing my usual reformatting, and I forgot to back up my RS folder. Hundreds of hours and thousands of screenshots gone, including all my old videos and screenshots from 4+ years back with everything from hilts to level ups to long-gone friends. It stunk, badly. Answers to your questions: -Basically, it works like this. With a certain armor and weapon combonation, each melee\range\mage attack has a certan chance of hitting. A random number is generated to determine this - if the number indicates that the hit fails, melee\range hits zero and magic splashes. If it is determined that the attack hits, a number is generated between 0 and your max hit (inclusive) for you to hit -There is no apparent ratio. It has far too many factors and an element of semi-randomness to identify any variable relating to bonuses -Yes, this is answered on the KB page Like I said, once you achieve 10+ hours of testing you'll realize what I'm talking about - there are undeniable patterns and 'hit streaks' that make testing require far more time - in the end, the results are similar to your average hit, but the hit spread will look significantly different. I still don't understand how your going to do any testing with less then maxed stats. At maxed stats I simply sara\zammy brew down to the stats I want to test, but at your level your going to be leveling throughout the tests, leading to inaccurate results.

F2P Mage and range underpowered
Exactly that. "Theoretically". Basically you made up some accuracy rates and quoted them as 'statistics'. Nope, lost most of it when I reformatted about a month ago. I'm currently building it back up, but I currently only have the graphs for claws. Really. Let me explain my testing scenario, then: I get a friend with specific stats, in this case testing veracs. I ensure that we both pot at the same time after the 1 minute refresh, then begin running from opposite ends so hits begin at the same time. Each hit is screenshotted to ensure data is correct and for verification and easier counting. Food is eaten at specified HP intervals, and every minute fighting is paused for re-potting should the pots offset the hit rate. Armor and equipment is ALWAYS standardized, that's an obvious given. Why are you continuing to make up random statistics? Where did this magical '95%' number come from? Could you point me to the KB page with the hit formulas, or will I be forced to assume that this is yet another one of your trumped up numbers  Really. I'm curious as to just what accounts you are using, as a single equipment setup will obtain an average of 800k-1m XP, and leveling throughout the course of the equipment test would completely ruin the numbers.

Clarification of Rules #2
:-w :-w :-w Meh, I just don't like having my signature banned while half a dozen other users with visibly larger signatures have no action whatsoever taken against them. I don't like being given the run around by moderators who won't give me a straight answer. But I won't change this thread in that direction. I swear I won't :-#

jagex favors melee
I can make well over 1,000,000 GP in an hour. I earned over 100 million in the past week. I could care less about the cost; I would use the same spells if they cost 10 times as much. The cost is NOTHING for high level players. And cost or no cost, mage DOMINATES. Zuriel's staff is Jagex's gift to mage. I've used it. It's epic. Melee at ANY level in ANY gear stands no chance whatsoever.

F2P Mage and range underpowered
No, you made up some random numbers about DPT on the spot. I've done a ton of tests like that. Hint: AT LEAST 20 hours of steady combat is required in a specific outfit with exactly the same gear for accurate results with PVP equipment. So your going to have to get higher stats to avoid leveling mid-test.

Why do you guys keep whining about 'fairness' and 'equality' in rushing? I do it for fun and profit; I really couldn't care less how much skill it requires. How much skill does it require to get a chain from a dust devil? Do you think that's not worth posting either? OT: Nice job, bruno. You need to replace that proselyte with bandos. I was just gearing up for another rushing round when I saw those kills, we'll probably meet in varrock sooner or later

F2P Mage and range underpowered
What the hell are you talking about? The hits for ALL weapons, spells, ammunition, and monsters show the same pattern - you have a certain chance of hitting, and once you hit, a hit is calculated based on your max and 0. That's how it has ALWAYS been, and now your trying to pull a random guess out of your behind and twist it into a reason why mage is inferior? Get real, show some evidence or drop it. Accuracy is a percentage, average hit is close to the average between the max and 0 for EVERY combat style. And yes, I have tested fire blast and various FTP weapons (R2H, Rune Scimmy) - they were all exactly identical, just like EVERY type of weapon in the game, and I saw no reason to test the rest of them.

RSC Accounts
I used to have a RSC account, but I simply stopped playing it; the gameplay and graphics are junk, and the RS2 is vastly superior. I think it got deleted a year or so ago after I stopped.

F2P Mage and range underpowered
Sees all, you are misinformed. Random numbers are generated the same way for range as melee as magic; I've done hit spread charts for all 3, and unless you can come up with dramatic proof that I'm wrong, I'm sticking with them. Really, the only point remaining from your rant is that high level mage could use a small boost. Make mage max hits scale slightly with levels, and the problem is solved. Next rant, please? If members mage was ever nerfed that badly, I'd go to range as my favorite skill. The ability to hybrid with any weapon is literally the #1 reason mage is so powerful - the armor gives massive bonuses that let you use ANY weapon. I can successfully mage while wielding dragon claws - my opponent can never pray mage, or he'll get smashed with high specs, and he's at my mercy while I pray whatever I want to and farcast away.

Spontaneous Human Combustion
How would one atom splitting do anything? There's no element found in the body that's reactive enough to start the chain splitting reaction of a nuclear explosion. You'd have one atom go pop, and that's about it..

In my defence, it's not exactly ubier hacking we're talking about... I'll bet there's quite a few people on this forum who could Putty a SOCKS tunnel through SSH. Only downside is slightly increased ping times, depending on the server. Tip.it should host a socks proxy

F2P Mage and range underpowered
Your talking about members, right? In that case, I'm afraid you have no idea what you are talking about. I have no problem trouncing a meleer or ranger with 99 magic. See the other thread on this, it isn't even an argument.

Crushing and stabbing weps never used.
Why? Then the best crushing weapon reigns supreme in PVP. Period. Your having a difficult time with the fact that whatever weapon is best will always be used.
-
Spontaneous Human Combustion
It has never been proven to have happened without a source of ignition. Just an old wives tale :P

Clarification of Rules #2
"To the town square with torches, my friends!" That's sarcasm. "Just remove signatures completely if people don't like them. Honestly, if they're this much of a problem, why not?" I'm really not detecting sarcasm here. I hope for dsavi and jem's sake that it was, but we won't know until they return to tell us.

What on earth are you talking about IP bans? Do you know how long it takes to run a RS connection through a proxy? Hint: Give me putty and a SSH tunnel, and I'll have my connection routed through a SOCKS proxy in under 30 seconds. I train with chat off all the time, "not responding" isn't proof it's a bot. Also, the RWTers weren't level 3s - they were high level players trained cheaply by players in sweatshops. So, do you have any idea for stopping RWT that would work? Neither did Jagex, because there ISN'T one. The only solution is stopping unbalanced trade; a few small things had to be sacrificed like rune running, but they did it for the overall good of the game.

Different kinds of mage weapons
FTP mage is very cheap, and PTP mage does NOT cost much for a high level player. Compare it to the value of high level melee items which are rapidly dropping - not to mention the loss in PVP; I go through rune sets like water.

Slayer Sucks
Err... I'm the topic creator, and slayer is one of, if not my FAVORITE skill. I was just addressing the misconception that it was good XP; in no way whatsoever does that detract from the skill.

Clarification of Rules #2
Yes, forcing the moderators to decide on a pixel limit is REALLY a drastic problem. Eliminate the signatures, lest the moderators have to pick a size! To the town square with torches, my friends! No. No. No. I use signatures to identify people, and it's a nice trademark to leave on a post. I associate different people's signatures with different levels of maturity, intelligence, and detail. It's also a great means of creative expression (tripsis), or communication your RS levels to people at a glance so they don't have to dig into the RS high scores every time they want to see your skills.

F2P Mage and range underpowered
Since when did I say low level PKing was exclusively limited to level 35s? IMO low level is anything below straight 92s (midway in terms of XP), and your trying to argue of semantics. Why would they do that? Range already drastically overpowers melee (the skill its supposed to lose to) at ALL levels. Err, what? FTP mage (until it maxes out) and PTP mage take down ANY other form of combat pathetically easily. PTP mage is a joke, mage rules supreme in ALL types of combat. The other two combat styles don't stand a ghost of a chance. PTP mage could use a drastic nerf.

Slayer Sucks
Err, what? I agreed with everything you said, and as I've said many times, I love the skill. Your either addressing someone else or completely failed to read the thread...

Something to Ponder On
Two words. High Alchemy.

Slayer Sucks
It's simple calculations; numbers don't lie. Take a look a few hundred pages back for the specifics, piety was debated for several hundred pages before it was conclusively proven to be not worth it under the given earning and XP rate parameters.

ROL has saved people running from me 5 times so far today -.- It's nasty against claws - the four separate lower hits give it a good chance to activate :wall:
