Quick Winter Olympic Hockey predictions.
To be honest, we aren't going to do that well. Our material isn't as good as the other top teams' and we have some injuries, Tuomo Ruutu has had problems with his back for example. If everything goes perfectly, we could be in top 3. My own guess is that we are either 5th or 6th. My top 3: 1) Kanada 2) Russia 3) Sweden Russi was a pretty wild choice, they usually have problems with their team spirit. After the Soviet Union broke, they haven't done too well at international hockey games. Anyways, I hope they manage to get the best players into their team and manage to get a good team spirit.

Remembrance Day - A Tribute to Those Who Died
Only way to avoid a WW3 is not to forget. Forgetting and denying the facts make it sure that it it will happen again.

Best Old or New Pb
Daakpunk Wint0nic Praaaaaaaay Praaaaaaaay was legit for a long time and he was an ordinary pb. He went for mith a bit later, then addy and finally rune. The current owner who autos that char isn't the original one. I believe Keeler sold that char and Crunch Killa.

Electric and Bass Guitars
Yup, Jari Kainulainen (Ex-Stratovarius) for example had a 6 stringed bass. Anyways I wouldn't even think of more than 4 strings when I started. There's enough work with four strings, get one or two extra ones when you are a skilled bassist :P I wouldn't choose bass because of thick fingers, just use a plektra or whatever you call that plastic thing in English .P

Electric and Bass Guitars
Bass is easier, but still it requires a lot of hard work to become good at it. It's also easier to become a bad guitarist than a good bass player. I've never played bass, so this post is about guitars. Basically you could say the same things of basses too. Guitar is your most important thing after your ears, but you still shouldn't buy any 10,000$ custom guitar at first. I'd buy some cheap-mid priced guitar which is used. Used guitars are cheaper than new ones and if you buy it from your mate, it usually isn't that bad actually. You shouldn't buy an expensive instrument at first because they might be easier to play and thus not really make you to learn things and if you don't feel like this instrument is for you, an expensive guitar just wastes your cash. After sometime you should buy a better guitar if you feel like you need one. The easiest way is to get someone to teach you. Either a professional teacher or some mate who has been playing your instrument for a long time. Ok some pro guitarists haven't had a teacher, but believe me you should. With a teacher you always know what to do next, you will immediately hear it if you make some mistake and this way you won't get "trapped" if some hard part surprised you. Ok a good teacher isn't cheap, but it will pay itself back as a better guitar skills. It will also help you if you actually learn to read tabs. It's true that your ear can tell you better how to play some part, but tabs make your life easier. On your own time, try to play as much as possible. Try to repeat technics you learnt from your teacher, play along with some songs and try to learn from your mistakes. You just have to try again and again to become something. There are no easy ways. Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom for example plays still many hours per day and their albums have been sold a lot. Some guitarists even play at toilet. Don't get disappointed if some songs seem to be impossible for you to play. You won't become a new Van Halen in just few years. After learning the basics try setting yourself goals like "now I want to learn to play The Trooper". Set a goal after goal, remember that satisfaction kills advancing. Playing in a band is a good thing for your motivation. It's a lot easier to motivate yourself when you have people around you. It doesn't really matter if you are just a garage band that plays for fun as long as it motivates you. Of course if you want to become a pro, play with people who also want that. Just remember that you play because it's fun. If you someday wake up with a feeling that you don't want to play guitar today, then don't. In a long run it just kills your will to play.

the economy and pohs
There are simple reasons for those price chances: You can't do complete bows without a bow string. Now with ancient magicks, it's really worth it to get 94 magic. High alching is pretty fast and cheap xp and yew long bows are relatively fast to make. They also give really nice money, so people mas product them instead of things like steel plates for example. There's so huge demand for yew longs that fletchers can get up to 600gp per bow. This means that they don't lose money (well, they make less profit) if they pay a bit more for strings and get them faster that way. It's normal that a price for such item as a bow string rises because fletchers can use more money to buy them (without them losing money). Every day thousands of barrow items come to the game. You don't need to be really high lvl to get them, so there are many people hunting them. This means that more and more barrow armours come, but not that many people actually need them. This makes the price drop as the supply is so much higher than demand. For whips it's a bit same thing as with barrows. More and more people are going for 85 slayer and current 85+ slayers keep slaying abbys because whips are pretty fast cash still. Because of the massive amount of whip hunters, too many whips are supplied to the markets. Dragon shields were pretty stable for a long time, but they've lately been going down. It isn't a miracle because that obsidian shield is like the same, it doesn't look bad (IMO better than d shield) and it's alot more common drop. This means that the price must go down. Those who want maximum protection buy obsidian. Those who want to look cool buy obsidian. It's as simple thing as supply&demand. When some items are really needed (demand), their prices go up. When people start getting (supply) those items more, the demand will go down and so will the price. A good example of this is the price of the cannonballs. Before slayer they were pretty cheap because there was basically no demand. After slayer (and after 85+ slayers revealed their banks&tips) people started to want them but there wasn't enough supply -> the prices went up. Later on masses of people started to produce cannonballs and suddenly there was a bit more supply than demand. This made the prices go down a bit. When dark beasts came, cannonballs rose in price for a day or 2. After people realised that it doesn't drop anything new, they abandoned their ideas of getting 90+ slayer and thus made the demand fall.

Work Experience for school
Some years ago I was 2 weeks at Fazer's (biggest candy, bread and cake manufactor in Finland) office. That was a real pain as I got all the bad jobs that no1 else wanted. I worked really hard there, did the worst jobs and I basically got nothing. Of course you get a paper that you've worked there for that time, but that's wort next to nothing as everyone gets a paper from that job experience period.

Where you come from do you put the kettle on?
I just drink coffee and that's it. I want my coffee without sugar or milk and extra strong if possible. No cafe lattes, teas, capuccinos or any other fancy drinks like that. Black coffee is pretty good actually once you get used to it ;)

Collecting Sports Cards and Memorbillia (scans inside now.)
I have approx 10,000 hockey cards, shame that they all aren't in mint condition. I've collected like 2-3 full sets from Finnish league and got quite a lot (thousands) of NHL cards. Haven't bought a single card in few years, tho. Anways, few special pics from my collection of Finnish hockey cards: * Jari Kurri, Teemy SelÃÆÃâÃâänne and Janne Niinimaa in Jokeri's suit * Saku Koivu, Kimmo Timonen andJere Lehtinen in TPS' suit (got also some specials cards of Koivu and Lehtinen getting some prices) * Esa Tikkanen and Sami Kapanen in HIFK's suit * Michael Nylander in Jyp's suit * Shawn McEachern in Kiekko-Espoo's (now called Blues) suit * Teppo Numminen in Tuto's suit * Mike Richter's O-Pee-Cee rookie card * Kimmo Timonen in team Finland's suit (Junior tournament and another in men's team!) * Jari Kurri in team Finland's suit (world champship games 1994) * Jussi Markkanen in Team Finland's suit (Junior tournament!) * Jan Hlavac in Team Check's suit (Junior tournament!) * Saku Koivu squating (no hockey equipment) * Paul Coffey in team Canada's suit * Mats Sundin in team Sweden's suit * Eric Lindros' "Future Superstar" card from Score * Dominik Hasek in team Check's suit * Teemu SelÃÆÃâÃâänne in team finland's suit (few different cards) * Sami Kapanen's fire on ice card in Kalpa's suit * Bobby Hull's, Bobby Orr's and Serge Savard's cards from Canada Cup 76. * Keith Primeau's draft card Tried to list only those cards that could interest North American card collectors.

Nightwish and singer Tarja Turunen part ways.
Today Iltalehti (one of the biggest Finnish magazines) had a nighwish cover. Same thing was just a couple of days ago, media's a bit overracting if you ask me. Anyways, there (at the cover) was a pic of a blond woman and a text "She's the new singer of Nighwish?". Notice that "?". It's really rare in Finland that big magazines say something like that at their cover. Anyways, this blond was Liv Kristine. http://www.livkristine.de/ Not a bad looking girl, looks better than Tarja imo. 4 Hours ago I didn't even know there someone named Liv Kristine, so it's impossible for me to say is she better singer than Tarja or not. Don't even know anything about her style to sing, haven't even read what the magzine says about her yet. She's one probability to their new singer, but nothing's sure yet. Personally I don't believe she is going to be their new singer, don't know why, just don't believe.

Nightwish and singer Tarja Turunen part ways.
IMO it was about time. Their last 2 cd's were junk (In my opinion again, I know that they sold a lot) and I didn't bother even dling them. Hopefully this helps and their next album is better. In Finland that was quite a big news. There was even a big news at Text-TV (don't want to watch clock 9's news today :P ). Somehow this reminds me of the "episode Stratovarius" when they (Timo Tolkki) kicked out Timo Kotipelto. Big media hype and few months later Kotipelto is back with them. We'll see who sings in Nightwish at summer 2006... I was at their gig last boxin day and Tuomas Holopainen sung (Tarja was changing clothes) Symphony of Destruction (Megadeth cover). That song was awesome, probably the best one played there that night. I also liked more about Tuomas' speeches than Tarja's. Personally I'm hoping that the next singer is a male. Now after Tarja it will be really hard to find a singer who is something like she is and fans&media could threat her like Tarja II. Would be a lot easier if the singer was a male.

Attention hockey fans!
We had those shootouts here in our league last season and at least I was disappointed. It just doesn't seem to be a fair way to decide the winner. Here they were first liked, but around christmas (our league starts a bit earlier than NHL) everyone were bored of them. Players didn't like them and nor did fans, but for some reason they still are here :\ I'd remove them immediately if I could chose. We have played with your current 2 line pass rule for like 5 years now and I gotta say that NHL made a mistake. They should have changed rules few years ago :P Btw what do you think about the new "ref-line"? There seems to be a lot of penalties (and powerplay goals 8) ) this season.

Bird Flu
So you're saying that if the Africans knew how to farm, there would be no lack of food? First of all, it's not only that. There's far too dry at many places (look at Sahel's area for example) to farm. It's not because they don't know, it's because they can't. It's not just a coincidence that almost all the countries where people are lacking food are near the ecuator. That seawater scenario sounds an unbelievable thing. First of all it would cost a dirty amount of money (if it's even possible to build one) to build it. So much money that you could buy what like 10 biggest industries in this world and still you would never run out of money. Also what would it cause to the seas? On 60-70s there was this so called green revolution (don't know exact English term for it) which basically gave more time for Asia. These new special seeds gave like 3 times more food than basic ones, but still they aren't used in Africa. Why? Because it's impossible to use them there! First of all their technology isn't good enough and second, they don't have places to farm or not even enough water. I understand your point on the industrial country part. However it doesn't change the fact that before Europeans there was basically nothing to be proud of. Technically they were total zeros. No big inventions, really primitive tools, not even a written language. If we had left them all alone, they'd probably still use rocks to light a fire, women would get their 5th child at the age of 16 and aids would be something that someone has once heard of but no1 really knows what is is. And by the way, I don't think I own a single penny to African countries because of those times. We (finns) didn't go to African to get ourselves some lands where to get resources. First of all it matters a lot. We have only limited resources and we can't just get more and more land to farm, water for our plants, food for our animals. We know product more food than a century ago, but our population has grown more than that. Eventually our population will meet the limit and then people start to die. Look at Malthus' theory for example. The Easter Islands can be seen as a warning. There was too much people for the resources. Same thing is in Africa, there isn't enough resources to feed everyone. If there was, we wouldn't need to send them food aid. I don't know about your place, but at least here we reuse our unneeded food. We have composts here where we throw food we don't eat. That compost is used to product more food. That's not a waste if you ask me. I don't understand that milk part. Milk doesn't "survive" long, so we can't just take the unneeded milk to foreign countries. Should we just milk our cows less? By the way, many Africans can't even drink cow milk. A genetic mutation has made it possible for human (I'm now talking about whole rage, not just white people) to stand it. At Africa that mutation is pretty rare. At summer I was working with the arrangements of Helsinki Cup (one of the biggest junior soccer tournaments in the whole word) and from a Gambian team there was only a handful of players who could drink milk. Again... Are you really so naive that you think we can just product more and more medicines forever? We can't just call a lab and tell them to product 6 billion injections. It takes a lot of time to make medicines. There was an article at Helsingin Sanomat (biggest Finnish newspaper) that if we ordered enough medicines for every finn (bird flu injections btw), it would take 3 months to make them (at the USA), the possibility that they didn't work was high (one slight mutation to the bactery and the medicines is useless) and it would cost a lot. There's 5,2million finns atm. If we tried to get medicines to everyone in this world, it would take years to product them and they'd probably be useless because of a slight mutation. Some more simple medicines would be pretty easy to product, but what would they help in a long run? Just cause more overpopulation. We need to work for the food&water problem first. I agree with the Iraq part, it was totally unneeded. Not only because of economic reasons, but it has probably caused more deaths and sorrow than Saddam could have caused. Yes, it's the industrial countries that poison Mother Gaia. I agree with that but I see the overpopulation as a real threat. I don't support China's or USA's enviromental policy, but I don't either support overpopulation. Call me a sick freak or whatever you want, but at least I don't feel sorry for those people. Why should I be sorry? It just helps the earth to survive. I don't believe that we are all equal to each other. I see us as just another animal specie. In nature animals aren't equal, the ones that aren't strong enough will die.
