Saving jpgs w/o much quality loss in PS and GIMP
Repost of navyplaya's (And partially mine) guide to saving as .jpg without quality loss, since the other one is... Lost to the rollback. This guide turned out to be surprisingly useful, I linked people to it countless times. navyplaya: Posted this a while ago, thought I'd post it again to help some people out. Easy technique but not very many people know about this. Lowering file size without drastically lowering quality Using Photoshop (this tut assumes you know the very basics of photoshop) 1.Open the file into photoshop I'm going to use this sig that I made for Booduz (its 51k) 2. Now go to File> Save for Web and it will bring up this box: 3. Now extend the quality box and move the slider bar (highlighted in red) until the file size (highlighted in green) suits your taste: 3.b. Or instead of adjusting the file size by the quality bar, you can click on the arrow (highlighted in yellow) and click 'Optimize to File Size', you can then set the file size you want the image to be: 4. Continue saving, by clicking save and naming your file. 5. That's it, you're done, and yes it was THAT easy! Finished Product: Original (51k): Reduced file: (29k) There was practically no quality loss. And it can go even lower that that with barely any quality loss, here the sig is at 20kb: Here's another example that i resized for bam: Original (30kb) (14kb!!) Lowering file size without drastically lowering quality using The GNU Image Manipulation program (The GIMP) dsavi_x4: (Salvaged from a Google cache) First thing you do is just save it as jpeg by adding .jpg as the file extension. Then some export as JPEG window comes up. Press the button that says 'Export', and this will come up: Looks like the Photoshop one in a lot of ways, doesn't it? Well, it's pretty much the same idea. Let me tell you, you don't find this in MS paint. Very Happy Change the highlighted settings to how they are in the picture after expanding 'Advanced options'. These settings don't make any visible change to the image. Oh, you might also want to check the box that says 'Show preview in image window'. This not only brings up a window with a picture that shows what your picture will look like with the settings you have, but shows you how much space your picture will take up. (Highlighted) Next adjust the quality bar until the size looks good. (Note that it's best to have it under 40kb for a forum.tip.it signature- NOT equal to 40kb- because forum.tip.it won't accept 40.01kb. And you can't see the difference between that and 40.0kb in the save options window.) That's about it for the GIMP version. Here are two examples; my own former signature. (Original @ about 110 something kb) 28 point something kb: 14.1 kb  And the quality loss is so little that there is only a 2kb difference in PNG format. I don't know about you, but even when they're that close, I can't tell the difference. If you don't believe me about the size- check yourself, right click on the images and press properties. I don't know about you people, but I certainly don't. *Checks size* Oh, the wonders of modern technology... Could some mod add this to the list of user-made tutorials? Just in case, I'm going to save this to a .txt file...

Hmm, good idea. I've been looking for that pixel font for a while though, can someone link me to it?

Clan names on profile.
That would be very annoying to maintain, unless there was a minimum clan size for usergroup permissions. Then Usergroup leaders could manage their own, but I don't really think that would work, the Admins are busy enough.

Maybe make 2 sizes of it, like [ youtubel] for large, (Without the space) which comes with hide tags automatically? Like this: [hide=Mah awesome Youtube video]*Pretend there's a large Youtube video here* ;)[/hide] What the code would look like: [youtubel=Mah awesome Youtube video]jfhasdjkf[/youtube] So everything after the youtubel= goes into the hide=, you get what I mean?

My new laptop
I got a new desktop about a year ago, don't remember any particularly awesome experiences. Vista is FTW, no doubt about that. As said, the mighty mouse is fail, how dumb is it to have no right click? I know you can have other kinds of mice connected to it, but the fact that it comes by default is sad. Macs are for people who know hardly anything, and do not plan on knowing anymore than hardly anything, about computers. But things only for mac like Final Cut Pro are pretty good, I'm not letting my love of Vista override logic.

Post Pictures of Your Desktop - August
My desktop for June, have not posted on this thread in a while. That's Rocketdock with a customized skin (Did some of it myself), some programs I have: Firefox, Photoshop Cs3, GIMP, Frets On Fire (Think Guitar hero for PC), and Thunderbird. Also have OpenOffice, only use it for school.

Suggest a Style: PHPBB3
@Silverion Hmm, good point, but that isn't always an option for late night forum junkies/people who use public computers regularly, both of which I am a card-carrying member.

Time to clean up the thread?

Clan names on profile.
Don't bother with a link, just set up the clan thing. If someone remembers how to do the RS name link, well, I haven't found a way of doing that yet. Here's how it works though: http://hiscore.runescape.com/hiscorepersonal.ws?user1=Dsavi%20X4 Dsavi X4 No, I haven't been playing RS lately, my stats are embarrassing.

Forum is coming back but :(
The styles are being worked on, there's a "Suggest a style" thread on forum updates and suggestions. Read through the whole thing before suggesting, though, Subsilver has been suggested about 10 or 20 times already, not all in that thread though.

Passing storm..
Nice. Colors really cool on those, don't know about CC though. We had a thunderstorm not too long ago, I don't live close enough to such an open area that I could take pictures though, not like I'd want to through pouring hail. :|

Thanks for the "Fix", it's a heroic feat at 2 am. I'll test it out on my own forums just to see if it works. Edit: Doesn't. I tried putting the &rel=0 on only one of them, then the other one, just doesn't work.

Fur, right or wrong?
I don't care at all, to be honest. Go shoot all the animals you want. I have no use for fur anyway.
