  1. I've actually been thinking about it, but there are still a few things I want to accomplish before I go P2P. Thanks for the suggestions! I was also thinking about buying Coal and mining Iron ore to make Steel Bars and then sell them. My only worry there is that Steel Bars will go lower than 600gp each which will cut down my profits.
  2. Just recently I completed my goal of 80 Strength in F2P and now I want to try to make 10M coins without merchanting (seriously, just the word 'merchanting' makes me gag). Needless to say, I'll be obtaining this money through skills only. After I finish Runecrafting 20k essence into Airs and sell them, I'll have roughly 6.6M cash in my bank. Can anyone give me some pointers on which skills I should use to make the remaining 3.4M I'll need to reach my goal? My skills are in my signature, so keep in mind I'm F2P. Also, I'd like to have several options so I don't get extremely bored with just one method. Thanks so much and wish me luck! \
  3. You won't actually make a profit in World 16 until you're about level 55 (when you can make x6 Air Runes) or even 66. This is assuming you buy the Rune Essence and pay runners 2k with each trip. With as cheap as Air Runes have become now days (what, like 10gp each?), the best way to make a huge profit from Runecrafting is running and crafting the Essence yourself. It'll take several trips to and from the bank to the alter, but you're make a whole lot more money in the process.
  4. Thanks for the positive feedback! Yeah, I plan to continue training all my melee combat stats on the Flesh Crawlers. Maybe next time I'll grab all of the Body Runes to see how many I can get (although they'll be really hard to sell). I was debating whether or not I should try the Spiders on the lower levels of the Stronghold of Security, but from what I understand they don't drop anything. I guess I'll just stick with Flesh Crawlers. Thanks again.
  5. After almost 2 whole months of being in the Stronghold of Security I reached my goal of 80 Strength fighting the Flesh Crawlers (I started at 70 Strength). I'm sure to some of you that sounds like way too long to just go up 10 levels, but take into consideration that I played 2-3 hours per day. I honestly can't believe I actually stuck with my goal and did absolutely nothing else but slash away at Flesh Crawlers for nearly 2 months. Just in case you're curious, here's a little run-down of everything: DATE STARTED: Monday, September 10, 2007 DATE COMPLETED: Thursday, November 1, 2007 Starting Experience: 760,120 Experience Needed to Level 80: 1,225,996 Finishing Experience: 1,986,068 Starting Level: 70 Starting Combat Level: 81 Finishing Combat Level: 85 Total Coins Accumulated: 77,243 (yes, I picked up every coin they dropped just to see how much I could make) Flesh Crawlers Killed: 12,260 ...I didn't realize it was that much :ohnoes: Anyway, this is nothing compared to achieving a level 99 combat stat, but for me this was a pretty big goal (especially being F2P). Rate or hate; either way I want to thank you for taking the time to look at my post! \ Have a good one,
  6. I find that the easiest skills to train are the combat skills simply because all you have to do is click to attack an enemy. Same goes with Fishing and Mining like someone else said.
  7. To be really picky about your definition of Strength, a higher Strength stat doesn't necessarily give you a higher chance of reaching your max hit, but rather it just establishes what your max hit will be. The whole ideology about chances and ratios of landing any hits comes strictly from Attack.
  8. pest control, a mini game that gives you a ton of combat xp with very little work/time, many consider it unfair or noobish beacuse of how fast and easy it is. Hmm, I see. That's got to be insulting to some of the original players to reach 126 combat. :-s
  9. Wow... now days I wish I could put in 40 hours a week. I'm lucky to get in 6-8 hours per week now. :( One question coming from a F2P player: What is PC?
  10. Think about it this way: You're paying approximately 17 cents per day for countless new features. I have that kind of money just lying around in my house. So why aren't I P2P, you ask? For one, I'm stubborn when it comes to paying for online games. And two, I don't play but 3 or 4 times per week so I wouldn't get the full potential of paying. Personal choice.
  11. Lesson Learned: Don't play the rare market! Especially during the holiday seasons when they're the most unpredictable. That's just a no-no.
  12. I'm no expert on pures, but I would also advise you to train your Hitpoints along with your Magic. Train on the Hobgoblins by the Crafting Guild (stand inside the cow pin and attack across the water). When I trained my Magic, I would just use Fire Strikes. They're slow, but cheap; especially if you make your own Air Runes and use a Fire Staff. Then all you need to buy is the Mind Runes.
  13. Flesh Crawlers on the second level of the Stronghold of Security work great. They have 25 Hitpoints each so that's 100 experience points per Flesh Crawler and they don't take long to kill at all. All you really need as far as food goes is just some cooked Trout and Salmon which you can fish just outside in the Barbarian Village. Plus, they respawn fast making training even quicker. They don't have any useful drops other than uncut gems here and there, but they're all about fast experience. I've been training my Strength there for the longest time.
  14. There are faster ways to make 50k...
  15. That's probably the most true statement I've heard so far on the subject of rares. When hundreds of people post their predictions about the economy of rares (with each prediction being completely different than the preceding), people start to over-analyze everything. Also, a lot of reverse psychology takes place. I really wish that JAGeX would make these rare items untradable. Now, before you merchanters start screaming at me, I realize you'd lose precious millions, but in the long run it'd be better for the game economy. There'd probably be a RuneScape version of the Great Depression, but afterwards things would balance out. That would just teach people the lesson of making money the old-fashioned way. SKILLS! Just my two cents worth...
  16. You could try buying Cowhides and making Hard Leather Bodies. It'll take longer, but it's cheaper. That's what I've done since I could craft them and I'm 60 Crafting now. Then again, I'm F2P so those are the only methods I use.
  17. I second that. I've always used Trout and Salmon just because it's easy to catch and you'll never burn it past a certain low Cooking level (like 40-50). I've never been one to spend money on training food, so catching Salmon and Trout is easy and it heals a decent amount. Although, keep in mind I'm speaking from a F2P standpoint.
  18. I've personally always liked Flesh Crawlers down in the Stronghold of Security. You can average anywhere from 25-30k experience per hour, but I don't think you could get that much from AFK training. I'm sure there are a bunch of other places, but Flesh Crawlers have always worked for me.
  19. Just copy that URL and put image tags before and after the link "" at the end and it should work fine. If I remember correctly, they should give you a forum version of the signature you created along with the regular URL for it. If they still do that (which I'm sure they do), just copy the forum version and paste it into your signature when you edit your profile.
  20. Yeah, runeweb.net works perfectly fine for me. Are you sure you're copying the HTML right when you're editing your signature?
  21. If you're really determined to be a PKer, just go hybrid with your combat. Train your Attack to 40 (if you're F2P), leave Defense at 1, and then traing Strength like crazy. Same with Range and Magic; train it for the Hitpoints. Personally, if I ever made a PKer, I would make one like this. But I'm not really sure of your situation since I don't know your levels. I personally like training everything. \
  22. Well, if you were always at your computer and you were paying attention the entire time, you wouldn't have to worry about a random event killing you.
  23. Think about this, though... By the time you get either of those skills to 99, you'll be so sick of training that skill that you won't want to make money from it. I know for sure I would want to take a LONG break from that skill once I reached 99.
  24. I honestly wouldn't even notice if I've been muted or not. I hardly say a word in the game to anyone and I get by just fine. The only time I ever say anything is when I'm buying or selling something. And even then you could always use these forums to take care of business. I figure talking just gets you into trouble in the first place because people will report you for anything these days just because they don't like you or your comments. I just keep my mouth shut. Silence is golden. You'll live.
  25. I went through the exact same scenerio about a month ago when I started playing again. Personally, I would just sell the stuff and start fresh. It gives you a better feeling of a fresh start when you do this and I found that it helped me buy the things I needed again. It's really your call though.
