  1. For what it's worth, looking at the requirement list has led me to believe that they'd probably be better suited to knocking some of the trim requirements down than booting regular requirements up, simply because they've been there at the start but are sort of outdated now. Same reason they're bringing down boss requirements, really, they reflect the current direction of the game. Part of the issue might be the bias toward high-end combat, really. They're knocking down boss tasks but not miniquest and lore requirements that are pretty similar in practice to newer ones on the main cape. [spoiler=Some ideas] Trim to Regular: Vyrelord (Same logic as Elf Titles: you're strengthening your character among a significant faction, except with perhaps more story significance) Scabarite Notes (Lore book, like all of the godly ones) Barbarian notes (see above) Dragonkin notes (above) Sheep Shearer (miniquest) Witch's Potion (miniquest) The only one I'd think to move up to Trim is The Famous, simply because it's redundant alongside The Reaper: you have to both beat every boss at least once and beat every solo boss in a row with debuffs... which kind of strikes me as being like that thing where games don't give you the achievement for beating normal mode after you beat hard mode. Maybe Annihilator because it's just one of those 'do it for the sake of doing it' things that makes more sense as a trim requirement. also move thalassus to trim because [bleep] deadliest catch Thoughts?
  2. See... The thing I don't get about the whole "It's the completionist cape" argument is that the trimmed completionist cape exists, and at this point a fair number of its requirements are less rigorous than those on the regular cape. It's an inconsistency: titles from the likes of Rush of Blood and Soul Reaper are required for the main completionist cape when other minigames, post-quest rewards, and even whole miniquests are not. I would not say that the sole purpose of Trim is to have requirements which are more rigorous than Comp's. It's purpose (well, one of them) is to include all sorts of requirements that are peripheral (whereas Comp's requirement is to include the main or major requirements). Things like the Annihilator or Clan titles seem fairly arbitrary, though, especially when Vyrelord is on the trimmed cape. Likewise, there's a pretty significant overlap between The Reaper and The Famous, but both are main requirements.

  4. [spoiler=Language] I have no idea where the last one goes.
  5. We have standards?
  6. "Mrow?" I lazily look up from my perch on the shelf.
  7. Does your post still work in spite of that?
  8. Can't say I'm dissatisfied with this.

Hooray, 9 AM color theory classes!
  10. I can't help but think of it in D&D terms: you're comparing a shield with an okay defense bonus to a shield with a smaller defense bonus and damage reduction... when you're fighting an enemy that's probably going to hit you anyway. Am I off base, there?
  11. ...Eh? Runescape was a very simple and slow-paced game until a couple of years ago. It had a fairly large population of disabled and even older players because of that: you didn't need to do anything twitchy to be competitive. That's the same reason EoC was such a huge issue, even: it turned Runescape into into that kind of MMO when it wasn't one before, and a fair portion of the players that jumped ship then were those that just couldn't keep up.

    Some fruit is better solid.
  13. Okay, but can you at least pretend to address the physical disability part? That is literally all I'm asking.
  14. What happens when it's quoted more than 5 times? -snip-STAAAHP You're only making it worse. I'm making it worse! Oh no! Let's make it worse! This will be funI'm in!This reminds me of the googlebomb thread in games. Not taking any chances The safest sex is no sex ;) Right, that's it! Safety.. ZOMBIES ARE COMING!!!! AAARGHHH! Hadn't seen a quote chain this long in a very very long time. Let's pile 'em up then.
  15. The condescension in this thread is thick enough to cut with a knife. Are you sure you know how to use the knife? What else is there to say? It's an entire thread of "If they can't do it they need to get good", ignoring the fact that you're basically telling people they should be more than happy to risk potentially hundreds of millions in gear and supplies on practice into a clunky and only barely functioning combat system, when they could potentially be fighting physical or mental problems that they may not be able to overcome, or just the kinds of connection issues that make even moderately twitchy content impossible for people without those issues. I'm not really seeing that as an issue of instant gratification. It just doesn't feel like those points are being addressed at all, here. The thread kind of reads like healthy twentysomethings saying that if they can do it, everyone else should be able to. I mean, yes, leeching is an answer, but then what's the point of having the requirement at all? Just being able to visit the boss is already covered by the soundtrack.

  19. We've come a long way from the POH crystal throne.
  20. Please tell me I'm not alone in wondering how I lived without these.
  21. I was going to bring up MOBAs yesterday but it would have been out of place at the time  . Dawngate has basically the same control scheme but is infinitely less clunky. Maybe it's just me, but that bit of polish makes a huge difference; you don't really feel like you're losing clicks because you hit the inner corner of the hotkey instead of the center, and when you click to move you end up exactly where you intended to go.

I'm sorry, I'll try to keep my real life magicks to myself. What about some good magicks, you know, like winning the lottery? Some what now? I'm sure it's possible to use normal, evil magicks to make everyone else lose the lottery. Same premise, really.
