05-Oct-2011 - Your Chance to Get an Idea In-game!
I can't be the only one that's sick of their 'high level updates for the sake of high level updates' trend. Everything has 80-90 requirements (Or 70-80 for quests) slapped on to it just so that they can say it's "Elite".

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread
How is the fact that Oblivion is available across three systems irrelevant? Plus, during those two years, it was released on the PS3, and as a GOTY edition.

Would you mind thinking about Stephanie Meyer next?

Comparing preorders for games with a months' difference in the release is probably safer than comparing sales figures between a game that sold ~7 million copies across three systems and five years to one that sold 6 million copies on one system in three years. The Gears franchise is bigger because it's more or less the main 360 exclusive. And a quick look at the Wiki reveals that it sold 3 million copies in its first week, 1 million more than Gears 2.

But it isn't. Look at the numbers Dizzle posted again: just under 2 million Gears preorders, just under 500,000 Skyrim preorders. I'm saying this as someone who preordered it within days of it going on Steam. My TF2 Heavy has the helmet and everything

Did you even read my posts? Games like Gears and CoD ARE more mainstream than high fantasy RPGs though, regardless of sales. Or at least more hyped to the mainstream - I've been seeing Gears 3 commercials on TV for a while now. High fantasy RPGs are still considered nerdy, even if the TES series has a large fanbase. And Gears 3 had something like 5 times the preorders at the time of the post that started this little flame war. Plus, you can probably assume that most of the fanbase is on the PC, and PC games are going digital. Does Steam do midnight releases?

Celebrity Deathmatch
I think that means an automatic forfeit. Unless you've won the tour de france 7 consecutive times... How many tour de france titles does conquering the country give you? Not enough to stop a burly Italian man from beating the [cabbage] out of you, apparently.

What she said. I also seem to have broken the quote button.

Graphics Options and Screen settings
Resizable/high/DirectX Would be maxed but for me AA tends to make games unplayable with very little actual benefit, and lighting detail makes dark areas impossible to navigate.

Celebrity Deathmatch
Yeah, he kind of comes off as a [kitty], especially since he killed himself in a bunker when he started losing. And Hitler was apparently short, and if documentaries are anything to go by, he looked quite weak. Mussolini looks bulkier, and he'd probably fight dirty.

Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
The guy that sat next to me in biology came in smelling strongly of weed and spent the first 3/4ths of the class doing a crossword puzzle in the newspaper. By the time the smell had dissipated, he left and came back, and it was renewed. He then went right back to his puzzle. Why does he even come to class? More importantly, why is he paying for the opportunity to do so? :wall:

Nostalgia
Just pulled out my N64 a few days ago and played Iggy's Wrecking Ball, Crusin' The World, and Pokemon Snap. Nostalgia'd hard. All over your controller! Come on Eggs, have some decency. I now feel like loading up Pokemon Stadium 2 and playing some Crystal on my TV.

Wall Street Protests
This. I doubt there's a person here that actually likes the corruption and similar nonsense that goes on with them, but it's probably not as simple as "All corporations = Hitler". Protests like these may well be interfering with the lives of the people they're trying to protect. I'm not from the east coast, but I can't imagine it would be easy to get to work if there's a large crowd protesting in front of the building you're supposed to be working in.

Indeed. I was totally getting ready to post about how awesome metaphors were by comparison before the page finished loading. On topic: I just wish I didn't have to link to it to post. Also :twss: , for obvious reasons. The smiley I use most is :-P .

I think there was a saying or something about this. Experienced people are more predictable than inexperienced people, since they're going to do whatever it is that is best to do in that situation, while an inexperienced person will act randomly. So, an experienced player might try to pull some long combo, you'll recognize it and be able to counter, while a button masher will be completely unpredictable. It wasn't about fighting games, probably chess or fencing or something, but it fits.
