  1. To be fair, there are bound to be a few that use RS to support themselves. RWT is quite lucrative and not limited to those goldfarmers that cause seizures at the GE, after all. Especially at higher levels, where accounts themselves get quite valuable. Botting/account sharing helps. Not to say that every high level does it. If RS is their primary source of entertainment, it can easily be fit into a 13-20+ year old's schedule, unless s/he's the kind of student has a lot of other responsibilities outside of that. The recent shift toward efficiency helps as well. Assuming classes last from 7-3, they have from ~4-6 to whenever teenagers sleep these days to play the game, give or take a few hours for socializing with real world friends, maintenance, and whatever else they do. And then there are the weekends and breaks. Unless you're talking about the kinds of players that can put in 20 hour days. I don't know how the hell anyone can do that. Almost every culture has its celebrities. Religions have their heroes, TV/film has its actors, music has musicians, and so on. It isn't really surprising that MMOs would develop that way as well, and that they'd have the kinds of celebrities that we love to hate in the real world as well.
  2. 18,154 xp/hr. I AM AN EFFICIENCY GOD.
  3. On the other end: "I'm finally home! I can sleep a whole night in my own bed!" *wakes up at 4 AM* FFFFFFFUUUUUUU-
  4. Indeed. Though I won't deny that it was quite fun the first few times.
  5. But when you become old enough to read Cracked, that changes
  6. The same could be said for pretty much any 'pure' system, though. That human factor screws with everything, and the only people that really understand it are the supporters. Hell, that could even be branched out to the whole religion debate that seems to be going on - Theists have trouble understanding atheists and vice versa. That might be why we get arguments from both sides that seem perfectly logical to the people using them, but just serve to aggravate the people they're used against. And that seems to lead to the debate popping up time and time again, usually with different players, but never with any progress on either side. I'm also annoyed by the fact that I spent 3 days in Arizona and came back to a 6 page religion thread. And the fact that my flight was delayed.
  7. This. Being crazy only takes you so far.
  8. All of which are virtually inaccessible to a new player.
  9. The problem is that they won't be effective moneymaking options or skill rewards for players. Frost dragons, for example, are impossible to kill because there are more cannons than there are spawns, and dragon slaying was among the best low level moneymakers in the game. And that doesn't even touch on slayer monsters that are farmed to the point where tasks are nearly impossible. Yes, herblore and prayer will be cheaper, but you're [cabbage] out of luck if you don't already have the money for it.
  10. I'd rather have it the other way around, personally. Goldfarmers are the ones that are currently making the game unplayable.
  11. That leads to the question of whether or not being booed will make Zuckerberg cry like a little girl or give him some kind of hulk-like rage. Or whether or not Zuckerberg feeds off of the negative publicity. With all of the security issues, unpopular changes, and him apparently just being a douche, it's quite likely.
  12. Perhaps a good option would be to remove the restriction for it. For Rusco, it makes sense, since it's a game that hasn't had a post in more than a year, but the Library's only problem seems to be that anybody who would want to access it would have to go to the admins. It's hard enough for new players to get involved with the Tavern without that restriction. Assuming that someone comes up with a game that would fit there, that is
  13. He's (presumably) younger, and Assange doesn't seem like the kind of guy to get into a straight up fistfight, even if Zuckerberg is physically weak. Plus, we can assume that Wikileaks doesn't keep tabs on the average individual, while for Facebook, that's the entire point. Zuckerberg has a tactical advantage there, especially if Assange or one of his family/friends has a page. Ultimately, this looks like it will come down to whoever knows the other fighter best, and who can exploit that. If what I've read about the Social Network is true, Zuckerberg isn't above dirty tactics. So Zuckerberg. Facts courtesy of Alg's ass
  14. Going to miss the next session due to a plane flight.
  15. Alg replied to stevepole's topic in Falador Tavern
:uhh: What Lei/Mather do is pretty much what the teenage angst stereotype is built on.
  16. I'm pretty sure there's a button near the top right of your feed to change it from "top posts" to "recent posts" That's always been there. Why isn't it the default option?
  17. I'd say it's more a case of the skill auras sucking ass. The only skill auras we had before this were surefooted and call of the sea. 3% chance of catching fish faster is a joke, and surefooted only lasts 20 minutes. People aren't going to pay their points for that when they cost as much as reverence or runic accuracy.
  18. Glad someone's got it. Since when is the prayer points stat not exactly the same as your points >_> Since they updated it the week of BXP
  19. This is all well and good, but the next payout is next week :wall: Way to penalize players for actually using their points, there.
  20. The one I bought a year ago came with 8, and I'm definitely not as tech-savvy as engineering students
  21. You will not be disappointed. At a tournament: "Damn it, lances suck" *wins through archery* Next tournament: "Damn it, lances still wait WHAT? 337 DAMAGE? HOLY [cabbage] I LOVE LANCES" *Loses during the round he has javelins* "ffffuuuu-"
  22. -Make wine -Drink wine -Drunkenly buy membership -Buy cape -Surrounded by women -Buy other capes -Cannot leave house because it is encased in women -Play Runescape
  23. Just screwing with Atten there  40 is the number that popped into my head at that time.
