  1. "Only?" Not the faster loading times, the customisable interface, the audio rework? They're not good things? I'm actually pumped about more fully orchestrated music more than the graphical stuff. We need a return of the main theme music, but done properly. Need I remind you we still have WIP EOC in runescape 3. We will have a bazillion bugs that will make it through beta. And more than likely it won't work for alot of people period even after its released. This is Jagex not Blizzard, remember. I do remember, and at the rate you're making wild predictions like this people are just going to call you out over it. Besides, surely you admit that faster loading times, a customisable interface and an audio overhaul is a good thing? That's what I was asking.

  3. 1. HTML 5 is basically a new set of standardised tools for web pages and the elements that live on them. It also introduces various performance improvements and versatility for developers. The most famous one is that an HTML 5 page doesn't need Adobe Flash to play a video on it. In the case of Runescape, Jagex is using the integrated graphical rendering tools to improve various elements like draw distance. 2. I think the aim is that the Beta should be no more demanding than the current game, and presumably there would be similar graphical options. I would still try it.
  4. The RuneScape Beta Programme - announced last week - is now open for you to register your interest! If you're a Gold or Silver Premier Club member, you're already registered. As long as you're a RuneScape member you can now register your interest on our sign-up page for a chance to experience our new HTML5 client and interface system first! Registration is open for one week - until the 10th of April. Once it's closed, we will be selecting groups with a range of hardware specs and gameplay styles. We'll notify those chosen before the HTML5 client beta starts on the 17th. The alpha for the new interface system will be launched a week later so even if you don't get in right away, don't worry - we'll be inviting more of you as the programme goes on, and all members will have the chance to try out all these awesome new features before launch. We're fully dedicated to making RuneScape 3 the game that you want it to be, so we need your feedback more than ever. Register your interest now to be the first to give us your thoughts, and start shaping RuneScape's future! If you have any questions, take a look at our official FAQ. See you in the beta! The RuneScape Team [hide=FAQ] Closed Beta and Alpha When will the closed beta start? The closed beta for HTML 5 will begin on April 17th and the separate Alpha for the New Interface System will start on the 24th of April. Who can apply for the closed beta access and what are the requirements? Any member can register interest in taking part in the RuneScape 3 Beta Programme. How will I know if I was selected? We will send an e-mail to those who obtain early access prior to the launch of the Beta or Alpha. Please make sure you have an up to date email validated on your account. Will F2P players be able to participate in the closed or open beta? F2P will not be eligible for the Closed Beta or Alpha. We are looking to add access to F2P players later in the process. Will there be playtest sessions or would I be able to play the beta version day and night? You should have access to the beta at any time barring that we have taken down the service temporarily to make some changes and tweaks based upon your feedback! How many worlds will there be? What about location of the servers – will there be one for USA, UK, Europe …? We will have plenty of world available at the start of the beta to accommodate the players given access. As we grow the beta population we will bring more worlds online as needed. Will J-Mods join us on the beta world(s)? J-Mods will definitely be active on the beta test environment gathering feedback, & chatting with the community. Will we get to test the 2 new skills as well? No, they are separate from RuneScape 3. Open Beta What is the start date for open beta/when will you let us know? We will be closely monitoring feedback during the closed beta and alpha and will update you in the future as to any changes to the Beta Programme. General - beta Can I still buy Gold or Silver Premier Club Membership? No, the window has closed for joining the Premier Club Will the XP I gain in beta transfer to the main game? HTML5 testing will be running on the main game servers and all XP gains will be on your main character. The New Interface System Alpha may have some XP gain for the main server but this is not finalised at the moment. Tech Will I be able to access the game on any browser (Chrome, Firefox, IE, …)? Chrome already has adopted full WebGL support (which is something our new HTML5 client requires) & Firefox is releasing a compatible version in the near future. Forums Will there be dedicated forums for the beta and alpha? Definitely and we are looking forward to your feedback! The RuneScape Team [/hide]
  5. Well, a major part of the update right now is dead on arrival, for a reason that the developers should have easily picked up on. Pointing that out and suggesting a simple way to fix that isn't exactly whining.
  6. given that dg has only a certain number of possible items and that the customization menu allows you to keep three presets with their individual color values when applicable thus proving the limitations aren't as low as we are led to think they are ("it's too time consuming and/or impossible to convert existing items to custom menu" + few months later = "hey buy our keepsake keys" + a few more months later = "hey we turned rare card collectibles into custom items despite the fact that we didn't do this earlier with any of our other items not released from solomon but you can't have them without paying") i don't think it'd be like, a huge dedication to allow three specific full gear loadouts per person, especially when many people hate certain types of combat anyway It wouldn't be a problem, but wouldn't that be a bit boring? If everyone could kit themselves out with full armour, they'd have a tough time dying at any point, and a big part of the personal skill involved in Dungeoneering would be lost. I like the bind system, it just hasn't been adapted to dual wielding weapons. I'm a bit surprised by how Jagex made such an obvious mistake here. Adding an extra bind for everyone but making 2-handed weapons take up two slots seems the simplest thing to do to me.
  7. Agreed. I'm actually a fan of DW, but it's really not useful if I have to give up a slot for the equivalent of the weapon I already have. I've got plate/hood/weapon/BN, why would I give one of them up for pretty much no reason? And that's even before the consideration that area attacks are usually more useful for dg, rendering 2h abilities more useful. Ehh, in a world where Jagex didn't make such an obvious mistake with the binds, I would have liked to have seen some tests on that one.
  8. It doesn't really matter how it's done, but the game should be treating the three types of weapon setups (2H, Dual and Shield) as being equivalent in value, instead of just looking at the number of items involved. Another way would be to have 2H weapons take up two bind slots.
  9. I wonder this too! This could make all the difference of their use, after all in DG context the added speed of dual wield may be highly beneficial. Just went out in the field. Those are standard and off-hand Marmaros Rapiers, and they're taking up two slots. Basically, there is no point to dual-wielding in Dungeoneering when you can use 2-handed weapons.
  10. Poor Marmaros is having a breakdown from all of the attention he's getting haha.
  11. Wait, so does binding a main and off hand weapon take up two binds or one?
  12. I wonder how many people actually play it for fun or just to get the requirement done... People did play it for fun until other people leeched in it to get the requirement done, which wrecked the game. Hopefully that will change back now.

Have a go if you want. I haven't bothered with it, personally.

You could say it was a sight for sore eyes... followed by blindness and blistering pain.
  15. Eh, it's alright. It's not about the time, it's about squeezing a bit more xp out of costly resources like bones. It's not like any other aura is going to help for things like that and there's only a handful of auras worth having. It is about the time, though. For skills that are free or cost trivial amounts to train it is, sure, and the time saved is tiny and there are usually better auras to use. For skills that are expensive but quicker to train (prayer, construction, herblore), it doesn't do any harm. The slot is there, you might as well use it. How about using both? :D

Congratulations! One of the hard parts of your life is officially over. Go enjoy the next few years. :D
  18. About time! It's not often that Jagex does things like this, and I'm glad they did this time.
  19. I think it was September '05, still working my way into a new school. A friend at the time showed it to me at his house, kept playing more or less ever since.

Yeah, it's more of a corruption of what was originally a religious holiday, where almost none of the original thing remains. It's a bit like Christmas or Hallowe'en, but with alcohol instead of rampant consumerism.

    Today...

Birmingham's full of people wearing hats and staggering everywhere. I had a KFC at 5 pm and I could count at least 6 of those hats, and there were a lot of drunk people already, which was a bit of a weird experience at that time of the day. I still haven't tried absinthe yet! I'm a terrible person. I really don't know whether to look forward to it or feel nervous about it once I get round to it. The fact that I'm pulling an all nighter to work on St. Patrick's day is... not a good sign. I've planned to get drunk with mates once this term's over to make up for it. So long as I can survive tomorrow's final meeting with my supervisor, I think I can get through this.

Well, this is a bit of a coincidence. Apparently the going theory on my toothache is that it's a wisdom tooth related problem, but I'm on a course of antibiotics and painkillers first, which is going to wreck my productivity at my uni work. It still hurts. Saaaaad panda. I would take the day off. Also, happy birthday Saq. :)

Thanks, I'll bear that in mind. :) The libraries have been pretty useful in coming up with research, but the books are dull to get through. It's a boiler for a hypothetical coal-fired power plant with carbon capture storage. Ground coal and air (with the nitrogen removed) goes into the furnace and is combusted, gases pass around an array of steel pipes containing steam thereby heating it, the steam moves through turbines and generates power. Ash falls to the bottom of the furnace and is removed, gas (mainly carbon dioxide) is sent off for cleaning and various processes to get rid of particulates, water and sulphur, and is finally compressed and stored. Wow, that was so easy to type now I'm typing it to someone else. If anything I just got a motivation boost, so thanks! opens MS Word, starts mashing
