  1. If anybody is intrested in the thread history: This was originally posted on the offical forums in october 2006, 2 months later, My computer had a hard drive fairue and I could not acsess the forums for 3 days..... the thread died along with a 250 supporters (and 2 non supporters with terrible reasons, eg "no cos fevin is rubbish!") It was recreated in april 2007 with a shiny new green background! the thread got to around 1800 posts and had close to 350 supporters, this thread died due to a forum bug which bumped newly posted on thereads to the bottom of the list :-k). I belive this time I had collected around 7 supporters again most reasons where kinda awful and 2 where from people know to disagree with anything a mod says :P (darn those forum trolls!) This thread was written BEFORE hunter came out which is why this suggestion has gloves listed, although I could not bare to part with them :P.
  2. it's quite a nice idea but it's possibly traveling out of the boundarys of the guild too much, but may be good as a totaly seperate Idea
  3. Legal notice: By posting this thread I permit Jagex LTD an unlimited unconditional lincence to produce, adapt, modify, and remove any sections of the suggestion at their discression. Whilst out of their area, I am posting under the full Terms and conditions as stated on http://www.runescape.com. All players posting content and suggestions on this thread, are giving me the permission, unless directly stated otherwise to use their input to improve my suggestion, and you are also agreeing to the terms and conditions of Jagex. For those who don't know this message is provided so that Jagex are legaly able to use the suggestion (if they so wish). ~ The Thieving Guild ~ Underneath the town of Burthorpe, a group of agile thieves founded the rouges den, but that is not all they have done, at the south end of the main room, is a small door, guarded by Big Pete, the bouncer, Pete will only allow the true master thieves (level 70) to go past this door, as anyone who has yet to prove them selves as worthy to keep secrete what lies beyond. The group of highly organized dodgy characters of the guild have formed their own currency (the black shilling) to support their network of stalls fuelled by thievery. Along with the new currency the thieving guild will see the introduction of several new items, and features: -*NEW* Bandits brew (M) -*NEW* Potion of thieving -*NEW* 4 new sets of lightweight, thieving clothing -*NEW* Smuggler tunnel network. It is important that the market feels busy, it should feel like a real collection point of the scum of RuneScape, with rouges, pirates, thieves, muggers, and highway men, all moving about the area. 1. the current rouges den 2. the entrance to the Thieving guild 3. the smuglers tunnel system 4. Blackened Jack - leader of the guild 5. The black market 6. wall safes. ~ The Black shilling ~ The Black Shilling is the currency of the guild of thief̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s; it was developed by the rogues as a way to dodge the taxes placed on the GP by the kingdom of Asgarnia council. IT cannot be used or found outside of the black market. Getting the Black Shilling ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ the Mini game! To obtain the Black Shillings, you must be an accomplished thief, the aim of the game is to̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâæÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ. Wait for it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâæÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâæÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ STEAL STUFF! (Well that was kind of obvious) However unlike normal thieving, where the NPC just there and takes is, occasionally stunning you, you are now stealing from your own, and they can and will steal back! However don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t worry, the only thing they will take is your Black Shillings, (if you are just starting to thief from them they will stun and damage you, when they attempt to pickpocket you, and find you have nothing.) There are 4 main thieving targets within the guild, thieves, and dark thieves, strangers, and Market Guardians. -Thieves: Require level 70 thief. Possible loot: 10-20 B-shillings, lock pick, bandits brew. Thieves randomly steal back from you, and will take 5-15 b-shillings away from you, they will also stun and damage you if they catch you red handed. -Dark thieves Require level 75 thief. Possible loot: 30-50 B-shilling, lock pick, bandits brew (M), flash powder. Dark thieves randomly steal back from you, and will take 5-15 b-shillings away from you, they will also stun and damage you if they catch you red handed. -Strangers As seen in desert treasure quest, Require level 85 thief. Possible loot: 30-60 B-Shillings, lock picks, thieving potion, flash powder. Strangers randomly steal back from you, and will take 5-15 b-shillings away from you, they will also stun and damage you if they catch you red handed. -Market guardians Require 90 thief. Possible loot: 30-100 B-shilling, lock picks, thieving potion, flash powder. These don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t take too kindly to its members stealing from them, although these offer higher rewards, if they catch you they will kick you out of the guild for 10 seconds, but they won̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t steal back. Blackened Jack is the leader of the thieving guild, highly known in the organised crime rings, Jack has ties with both the Phoenix, and black arm gang in Varrock, cross him, or say anything not to his liking, and you may find his guardians are set on you, Blackened Jack is one of only two ways to get Black Shillings. He is often in need of ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åitems̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  4. I had been playing for a very long time (I think 1.5 years as a member) then cave horrors where released! it took some working but I finnaly got a black mask!!! So the first thing I was was to go to the fire giants as my slayer asignment... took super str/attack and 12 lobbies... 4 kills in: "whats this? OMG dragon spear!" But thats not the end of the story..... in the same inventory of food I got my second ever drop! dragon half shield! that was quite a day I can tell you....
  5. I suspect that we will be able to craft blood and sould runes when we are a minimum of 5 levels below the required level, although we will have no way in what rune we make, so we could want laws and make airs for example. I would also think there will be a reason to use it when not close to a new rune, so maybe a chance for double the normal runes for example! from what Paul (not Mor Paul) said, I think the chance of getting better rewards will be much greater at a higher level.
  6. this is entirely backwards many are still going for D chains, look at the price of it. It has declined a ton. When it was first released it was over 40m. There are an insanely higher number of chains in game today than there were a month ago, a year ago, 2 years ago, etc how is the supply greater at the START? do items disappear from the game? Drops are coming in game very fast for all monsters. It's just a fact of RS and just about every game lets bet 5m on whether or not the god sword prices are higher or lower in 2 months...ill take lower on the grounds that the supply is MUCH higher...get back to me Jagex said once that when a new "expensive" item is launched, they wan't to start by a heavy flow of the items into the game, to build circulation and to ensure that these are not 'too' expensive (except to idiots) so becase of this at release the drop rate of these items are greatly higher, People state that the drop rates get "nerfed" how ever all that is happening is they are balanced to the level inteneded from the start. When new content is launched alot more people are at the area than there will be in the future, so alot of the new item will be brought into game in the first day. As for demand, whilst extreamly sort after the actually demand for the items interms of buying are relativly low..... they cost alot, and peopel don't know how good they are (even if stats are displayed), so as such the level of demand is possibly in practise fairly low except for the super rich.
  7. Silly billy..... do you not even knwo what year it is?! we went back to 1970! it's been that was for atleast a week now! :P
  8. The warped terror birds use a melee range mixed attack although apprear to inflect more damge via Range attacks. The sewer system CANNOT be teleported from, this is important to mention as with the amount of damage take lives can and will be lost ( :uhh: I died for the first time since monkey madness 2 years back) Items needed: Grapple hook, Mithral or higher crossbow, food, armour (dragon hide recomended), Tangled toad legs (not sure if you *need* this but a reward is offered for it's delivery), crystal saw. Recomended Items: high healing food, prayer potions, ring for dueling, energy potions, coordinate tools (if not using the tip.it tool). [EDIT]
  9. I have alot of respect for you even though I only know you from the distance, I am sure tip.it will move on, but never be the same without you. It sounds like somthing bad has happened to you either here or ingame, and I feel from how it sounds to have effected you it's not somthing poeple should have to go through, I know I have no way of knowing this for sure, I do hope what ever has happened works out for you. Huge luck to you in real life, and I hope that any issues you have will sort them selves out in time. May your childern manage to travel in the direction you want them to go in, and that your happy in whatever you do. And because we should always have some ligher comments, we shall now commence the important question! Who was the tip.it editor? (feel free not to answer) Toodle pip old bean.
  10. Password scamming has always been an instant perm ban, and it is a polocy that i personally support. Some people turn around and ask: "what it I said it as a joke? I was not really scamming" Well how do player know that? it has the same chance of parting sombody with an account and should be untollorated. As for the first one, I find it unfortunate and it is probaly a miss understanding however if you read the terms and conditions of the site you will find the paragraph: "You agree to keep your password safe at all times and not to disclose it to any other person. You are responsible for the activities of all persons who use your password to gain access to your account. To help ensure the safety of your password, you must keep your computer free of viruses and other malicious code including Trojans. You must use your password in accordance with the password requirements specified on our site and our Rules of Conduct. Real Jagex staff will never ask you for your password. If you believe that someone has stolen your password or otherwise gained access to your account - submit an Account Recovery request via the Account Recovery link on the front page of our website. To see our guidance about password security and safety practices in our Knowledge Base, please click here." All though not directly applicable, it is the same case, you where responsible for your account not to use offensive language ingame..... no matter who typed it. Now I would come off the fence if I agree with it or not, although I will remind you that it is a rule that we have all agreed to follow in the game, and so it can be considered not to be "incorrect" to punish for.
  11. Yes it would be more acturate to describe the race as "Bird" or "Avian"
  12. I belive only the monsters in the boss room drops the bandos armour, and I hear the spear is rubbish with it's speed and inacuracy. My personal view is dragon boots are better, the loss of defence bonus would not be all that noticable but the str bonue would be noticable.
  13. Dang. I'm getting paid to take screenshots. I belive Mod luke said for the interface updates they had to replace around 300 images on the site...... (and only that small mistake with the new interface on the german site). I am pretty sure you would lose that enthusiasm for the job :P
  14. I belive when first released the forums where open to free players too however they just cannot cope. I personally would love to have free players on the forums if there where not so darn many of them! Currently there are over 1million members, every week on the forums we gte posts in the millions, it would not be an exaduration to say it's one of the the worlds bussiest forums. There are currently according to the coporate site 5.4million active players world wide, could they honestly hope with an extra 4.4million people? It's a sad fact it just could not possibly cope with the demand no matter how nice it could be (ignores the imature free players)
  15. It's not so much automatic, as the member of the web content team who drew the short straw. They update every single image that needs doing manualy.
  16. Much agreed, I usually only post when I have something mature and worth while to say. O:) Very true, although it does make it alot harder to make a fully infomed desission, but if your post are all mature and worth saying that it always worth more than quantity
  17. If I was a player mod and sombody asked me "what are your abilities?" I would answer: "I have the power to mute players speach ingame, and I have priority reports using the report abuse button" The rest if really nobodys business, every moderator has agreed to keep confidentiality, if the moderator is not cabale of not telling everybody who asks when we have come back to the very point that 123 is trying to stop in this thread (although I disagree with the methods)...... Moderators abusing their position. Whilst on the forum team I would prefer a bit more open ness, the reasons why infomation is not in the public domain it their is alot of damaged that can be caused with it in the wrong persons hands, and it can compromise a moderators ability to play the game. As I said..... every moderator agreed not to tell anybody infomation they are not directly told they can share. If a player harasses me ingame about my abillities I will report for it, we have a right to play as normal people.
  18. This kind of update is ulikely to attract that many new players as it is aimed at such a high level. The updates that mist attract to new members are medium level updates as this is the most common level people will become a member. It is also the level of the majority of players in the game which is why alot of updates are aimed that way. The recent high level content updates are a reflection of player demoand, it was agreed with player and Jagex that high levels where beeing neglected in new content, and that the need some new things to keep the game balanced. This is what they are doing. At the end of the day it's a business so money is important, but just remember the company could close tomorrow, and andrew and paul would walk away from it with over 100 million pounds (about 200million dollars).... if they had no intrest in the community, it's player, and the game it's self they would not be there any more. jagex do care.....money is important but it is not what drives them.
  19. Well it strikes me that you are friends with two people who should not be moderators, as a moderator they *must* keep confidentialtty, even though they are real life friends they have still leaked confidential infomation, and wich in turn can damage the entrire moderator team. I hope very much that they have not told you everything, and that is extreamly worrying. I will be passing this infomation onto Jagex next time I have some free time. As for the other point, I am sure Jagex have criteria, they wont give the title to a player who has very limited game experiance. I would guess they take their time ingame, as an important factor already. HOWEVER I find it unfair that some players should be disqualified becase of not meeting a varible on their account. At a guess there are alot of moderators who actually have the title on their "noob" account instead of or as well as their main account, Jagex know whos accounts are connected to whos, just becase you cant see the experiance.... does not mean it's not there.
  20. I somhow bet that you don't know all that player mods have.... and if you did I am sure Jagex would be intrested to know HOW you know. Just for future reference..... that type of statment really does not reflect well on you. I am quite sure you are not as great as you belive based on what you have been posting. The selection method used by Jagex is fantastic, as I have said, any issue that was possible to spot would have been spotted! they don't hand out the title to any old player...... 6,000 people is alot! you will find bad people within it, no matter how well vetted they are..... just look at my old PE teacher..... they are fully investigated by the govenrment and yet he is still in prison right now! (doubt this point needs any further detail :P) I can remember if I said this on this thread or another on but: When looking at the forum mod seletion process.... Every candidate will have been looked at for past history, every post made probaly over a matter of weeks will have been read and reviewed by several people, their personality displayer ingame and on the forums in looked at by Jagex, other accounts connected to their name, be it the same owner or even the same household etc, if they have any activity off the site that needs to be taken in (possibly by ICU). Now to me that sounds pretty well done.... I guess it's about the same for player mods. Now when we look at your way..... are we going to be in a better or worse situation when the desission of whos name is looked at if offered by a well know player, who has no acsess to adminastrative tools? Personally I think Jagex are going to be slightly better at it!
  21. To be perfectly honest when it comes to F2P the most important factor to look at is that Jagex is a business. I am all for updates for F2P but it has to be appropriate, the game survives from membership, an update given to F2P cannot be of such which would stop or lower the demand for people to become members. You may wonder why they give F2P the party hall!? well when you look at it, it was never considered a high members benifit, and as a F2P feature it reduced on some type of scam, which in turn keep players in the game, and grow respect..... and thus attract more members. Every update needs to be considered carfully, graphics update prove over and over again to be attractive to new players and so grow more members, and so thats why F2P can get graphics updates. However when you talk about new skills, skill capes, more quests etc.... it will have a negative effect on the business, as peopel would have less desire to become a member. So my overall view which i feel is very fair is...... give free players updates when it will cause no damage to the business.
  22. remeber the Jmods are not all knowing gods.... Hey i even had to tell one where the Yannile house portal was once when he was coming to my house! (oh how we teased him! :P) The reason the CS takes it's current form is that if they dont know answers they can hand on to another person..... there would just be alot of no/wrong info given out. Then these channels would be flooded.... answers would get missed and people would become annoyed! it would not be good for relations. Also as already stated people would abuse it alot, sure there is a kick feature but it would be unmanageble. The only thing I can see as doable is a focus group type idea where Jmods can invite players to discuss features in a mature and managed (small scale) way.... that could work but fully open channels would not.
  23. I will give you my view on this, whilst yes inverviews are quite good there is a limit to their usefullness. If i was doing one I would only include questions about personality, intrests, aims in life etc to better understant the person. I would never use an interview in this situation to judge the suitability to the moderator postion..... as esentially people will lie! It's a sad fact of life that means the chances are it's not worth trusting alot of people. The use of tool for viewing posts I almost certainaly guarentee is already used! it is probaly the most effective tool that tip.it has in it's limited arseonal. As already stated this job comes with alot of risk and responsiblity, as a moderator more people will attempt to gain you account, so if you security is not upto scratch you are at a greater then normal risk. This is why account security is so very important. Also it is a must to get a feel for the users personality, although not reflective of suiablity the first posts a user made can show alot of personality. The position is hard! it's like the army adverts 99.9% need not apply..... the chances are you won't like the responsibility that comes with the job. Admin also has the challenge of trying to root out all the people who they think wont like the job, if a moderator leaves after a few days, they are taking all that infomation with them and can cause alot of damage. Personally I am not applying due to time shortages in real life, although I did consider it.... it's a case that I can't currently provide the commitment level needed to the team and it's not fair of me to apply (also I am not the worlds best :P). I do wish good luck to all people applying though, if you honestly think you can provide the commitment, and the level of respect I wish you all the best.
  24. The recruitment method for the offical forums is flawless, if there is a problem to be spotted it can be spotted. I am not sure how exactly it works (as they dont tell us) but they can watch our every move for weeks, getting a huge amount of knowledge on our attiture on the forums, and ingame. Sure especially with player mods the odd bad one gets through.... but from no fault of Jagex. for this forum it is limited strictly to the forums sadly, although good desissions are still made, there is a small equasions that can work on. 1. is the computer secure? it yes proceed 2. Do the have along enough history to call a judgment on If yes proceed 3. How is their posting attitude? spelling, grammer (helpfull but not essensial), etc etc if good proceed. 4. How strong is their aplication? If good Mod! The views are problay those of many differnt peopel to spot issues.
  25. Leave him alone! He's getting old bless him :P I have not tried it.... although it was tempting! maybe finding bob the cat was the hard thing for him?
