  1. Personally I like some aspects of British English and some of American English. I like not having the u in color and neighbor. And 'strange' spellings like cheque or whatever and adding Es to the end of words, etc. but I like spelling things with s instead of z... And adding two Ls to 'traveling' is pretty great. But I don't think my English teachers would care if I used either sort... I use American English most of the time, as I live in Michigan. Also my copy of Windows Office uses the American spell-check so even if I spell something weird it usually fixes it.
  2. You're getting better, but try smudging more. Duplicate the layer, then fiddle with the smudge settings (the tip it photobucket's got some good GIMP ones) and try different brushes.
  3. I'm thinking it'd be fairly hard to not have your name in the url though...
  4. If you could give a bit more info, I'd be willing to try.
  5. I'm sick of it. The televisions were on during the inaugruration...(We were eating lunch) Thank God I wasn't forced to watch it. I would have walked out. Funny story: We've got a ton of kids who are gravely misled, and one has been wearing this Barack Paper Scissors shirt for the past two days. He was walking by one of the TVs, and another kid shut it off. The tshirt kid went, "HEY!" and then tried to turn it back on. He was too short to turn it back on and so I laughed at him. YES I LAUGHED AT HIM. Oh and then my German teacher refused to turn the TV on (but told the kids they could go watch it elsewhere, but she wouldn't repeat the lesson for them) and followed by saying she supported Bush but she didn't ever watch his inagurations; why should Obama be any different. MY GERMAN TEACHER OWNS. Honestly, if McCain had been elected there wouldn't be half as much hype, even though THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN THE FIRST WOMAN VP. AND OBAMA'S ONLY HALF-AFRICAN AMERICAN. REGARDLESS OF ANYTHING ELSE, HIS PLAYING OF THE RACE CARD AND THE MEDIA IS THE REASON HE WON THE ELECTION. Feel free to reply. I will be reading this thread. And yes, I am Caucasian and a Republican.

  8. 1 remember you vaguely.
  9. Sigs and occasional drawing things. GIMP is the only thing I use, not counting Paint.
  10. Ouchy, you get to shoot me. I use Paint for rendering. Yes. I find it's much easier than GIMP and I still get good results. Of course after I finish it I make it .png in GIMP. But I don't use it for pixeling... I use GIMP for that. Go figure.

  13. I often have multiple threads open in addition to a PM and when I try to reply to one, then the next, and so on, the flood limit does bother me a lot. Hopefully when the next one comes out we'll switch... Until then I'm thinking there's not much we can do.
  14. Honestly this was an idea. I'm not planning on building it myself, my dad has a lot of experience with this sort of thing... So I'd run it by him, prove it's cheaper than a similar prebuilt model and then possibly buy it and build it. I'm not sure of the graphics requirements on Spore, that's probably the only game I can think of that would require a better than average (all I play are lego video games... and the occasional RS or what have you) video outuput. But I guess I want to lean toward the multimedia stuff then if the graphics card is fine with whatever... That's just software though. Also I have I believe a 7 year old Micron (Win2000 Pro) which I can't play RSHD on. But that's beside the point... Actually it's not as this would most likely function as a replacement for the Micron.
  15. Alright, so I'm thinking a 50GB HD for the heck of it, even though I won't fill it, and use the money to get the better video card.. Something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814102801 Or not. I'll see how much the TB HD is and probably buy it, I wasn't planning on playing WoW, I just thought it'd be a good baseline. There's probably a way easier way to put together a computer... I have no idea what I'm looking for specifically (brand names, sizes of stuff, etc.) but I know what sort of stuff I want... and I don't get Newegg's product listings. Reading what Mylez has written: Getting rid of BD in favor of a Memorex Light scribe DVD/CD burner (I believe it's in the range of $50-75... My mom got one for Xmas) But still keeping 2 drives. Possibly two of the same. Planning on Vista Professional (? Is there one? Similar to the XP/2000 business where you've got the multiple users on it) or is it Business? idk) The i7 was what it gave me... I honestly have no idea on the processors. So I'll go with Mylez and look for the probably the Intel Quad-core or the triple core one for the heck of it. It has on board sound... once again I've got no idea on this. So I'll add another sound card. Also can someone recommend me a case? And whatever other parts I would need to build a computer... Sorry I've got no idea about any of this stuff. OldJoe: I'm using this as a basis to build my own, it was an idea because my mom and dad are of the mindframe that prebuilts are always cheaper. And that you get what you pay for with antiviruses.
  16. So I would like to assemble a computer that is somewhat similar to this: But also is there anything I've gone overboard with? I know I don't need a TB HD (I've got a 750GB one on here) but is it worth getting one? (Same question with BluRay/DVD/CD drives) I'd like to have the things circled in green, I'm assuming there's other wireless hubs you can get for computers... And I'd much rather have XP than Vista, but I'm okay with Vista. (btw this is a Dell Studio XPS, $2193 USD) But if possible cheaper. I don't want Mcafee (it was included in the price) or Norton as this is a project I'm taking on to show that you can in fact build a computer that is as good as or better that a prebuilt one for cheaper. And that free/cheap antivirus works better than McAfee/Norton. I'm planning on using this as a main computer. I'm not good with the specs and crap so if someone could look over this and see if there's something I could get better or that I can get rid of please tell me. I'd like it to be able to at least run RuneScape HD, if it could play WoW with minimal lag that'd be great... idk. Enough RAM and HD space to store plenty of music and pictures and a fair amount of extra space for GIMP (and addons..), Blender, Apophysis, various programs for printers and cameras and crap, and eventually PS and what have you. Also the wireless/Bluetooth capability is probably the most important thing in here; eventually I'd like to be able to buy a Wacom Graphire tablet and use it with no problem... Plus a wireless mouse and keyboard are nice too. Maybe speakers as well at some point idk. I'm not worried about actually assembling it... That appears to be the easy part. :
  17. Hopefully this is what you were thinking?btw 400x400
  18. I've started on that, it'll be a bit as I need to render it and I've got exams and I'm out of my mind. Expect it done by Friday at the latest.

  20. Less giant brushing though. Try smaller ones, like the default Sparks brush, on a new layer, then go to Map>Displace. Then fiddle with it until it looks interesting, then go to Colors>Desaturate, then set the layer to Dodge or whatever. In the brush dialog, check the box that says 'Use gradient color' or whatever. Make sure the beginning of the graident is the color you want to use (change it in the color thing and then pick the FG to BG gradient and you should be able to make it any color) C4Ds are always good, also try complementary colors with interesting brushing in the bg (set to like soft light or something like that) Hopefully I make sense. If I don't just say and I'll attempt to explain. :D
  21. [img=http://fc32.deviantart.com/fs41/f/2009/012/7/e/Defy_Combat_Sig_by_hawkxs.jpg] Is this want you wanted? FYI: Credit means I'll put my name on the sig or you'll say sig by hawkxs/thanks to hawkxs for the sig something like that in the text in your sig.
  22. 'Tis interesting... I try to stay away from the cartoon renders though, I don't like them... Um. The colors don't really match the bg. Try adding another layer over the render and brush a bit so it layers underneath. I've got a few that I could show... Haven't uploaded them yet will in a min. See: Sparkley things over the render.
