    Answer this simple question: Do meleers or rangers carry only one weapon? No. They carry dds and whip, cbow and msb Therefore, why not mages use more than one spell? Consider this set up: Ice barrage -> Shadow barrage -> Smoke Barrage -> Ice barrage continuously. Blood Barrage as needed. You can replace the barrage spells with blitzes if needed. What this set up does: Holds target for 20 seconds. Poisons at 4. Lowers attack by 15%. On the now off chance you get hit, you can heal using blood barrage. The runes shouldn't be a problem since you only need deaths, bloods, souls, and combination of water, fire, and air runes/staff/combo runes. According to my calculations, you use 5 inventory spaces with ancient staff and 4 with steam staff. The rest of the inventory space should be used for super defense, prayer potions, possibly Saradomin Brews and sup restores. Your argument of being expensive only holds water until Jagex releases Soul runecrafting. After that, all of these items can be foraged and made. Of course, this is pure anti melee. I haven't posted any anti-range because range is supposed to beat magic. Another set up: Ice Barrage -> Miasmic Barrage -> Shadow Barrage -> Smoke Barrage -> Ice/Blood Barrage as needed. This will render a meleer using anything under a scimitar/whip useless. Miasmic Barrage -> Smoke Barrage -> Blood Barrage As needed. Anti-range finally. Notice that this set does not include Shadow or Ice Barrage because Attack does not determine accuracy and rangers can shoot from afar. Only if the ranger uses dragon bolts will a cbow be semi-effective. A msb will be rendered worse than a normal cbow. Magic only needs a creative mind to be effective. Don't say that magic is under powered; say that the mages' minds behind that attack style are underpowered. Dhide argument: They are hybriding, why aren't you? Obvious. Remember that it's not just ACTIVE accounts; the 13 mill would obviously include all lvl 3 accounts made out of boredom, locked, and banned accounts. Where did jagex say 2 million players? There are 130 million accounts, as of a couple of months ago when RSHD came out (one of the RS website adverts), so that's 65 accounts per player. Something's wrong here. My bad, you're right. I thought it said 13 million, not 130 million. But even if you said that it's 1.5, I would be skepticle since that means over 40 million players ever. It's probably somewhere between 2.4-3.2 accounts per player, but now we're getting off-topic aren't we? :oops:

  4. Jagecx could be like Blizzard and separate the combat lvls into tiers. In warsong gulch (basically castle wars) there are the following tiers: 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, etc. and then a tier solely for lvl 80s But they're just enjoying the game, and minigames and boss raids are ENDGAME content. That means that you will want to play minigames towards the END of your gaming career when there's nothng left to level up.

The G.E. should be used to trade small, otherwise hard to get materials, not anything and everything. I would define skill as doing something that takes a great deal of effort, repeatability, and complexity. Tying your shoe for example, is repeatable, and might seem complex when you don't understand how to do it. When you learn something relatively difficult, those you associate with might find that it takes skill to do. However, when you move up in life, those arduous tasks turn into routine behavior. It's all relative, I guess. If you can do something someone else can only dream of doing, you are skilled in their eyes. But you think that it is a pretty easy task, you don't see it as skill, but rather as routine. Meh, I'm confused too #-o . I do admit that the G.E. has lowered some prices because it makes it so much more easy to trade. I'm sure that before the interstate was built, prices were very non-uniform because some places would have a high concentration of X product, but others have not so high concentration of X product. You can't really say that the G.E. is "good" or "bad" since it is merely a tool. It is what people do with the G.E. that can be labeled as such (but getting into that would be getting off topic ;) ) Alright, so skill is basically a growing standard; it is basically experience. Now, that can both mean physical, measurable experience like rs skills, and it can mean immeasurable experience like how long the player has been exposed to the game or to certain aspects of the game. A has more experience in a than B has in a. B has more experience in b than A has in b. Both are true statements. Since A can apply to pking and B to skilling, essentially we have determined that pking takes a different kind of skill than skilling, but both do require skill. Because the two kinds of skill are just that, two kinds, it is impossible to compare them because "more", "better", and the like are adejctives of degree. Now that we have found that pking and skilling are equal in terms of skill, back OT The official number of quit accounts really is 60,000 within January and then after would be minute or the "normal" rate of quitting. I'm going to say that the average player owns ~4.8 (slightly random decimal ftw) accounts. Since there have been 13 million accounts created, that means there have been ~2,700,000 players since 2001. Let's assume that there are 288,000 gold farming accounts (4.8 * 60,000). And because the quitting farmers were only half (those who had just started and that there were actual twice as many because half of them were downsized or replaced by another half), there were 576,000 accounts committed to gold farming. Now, let's assume that 1/3 of the total population of the community has quit. Through the following calculations, there are 1,725,000 players 13,000,000 - 576,000 = 12,424,000 -> A A / 3 = 4,141.333 -> B B * 2 = 8,282,666.666 -> C C / 4.8 = 1,725,555.555 Even if there is only ~1/15 of those players on at any given time, 1.725 million players is far from dead.
  6. There needs to be a certain criteria for "skill" for the argument to get anywhere. Since you response didn't make sense with the criteria I suggested, my assumption of that criteria must be wrong. Alright, then what is skill? You haven't given a definition, only an example: clicking X amount of times in a set of places to cause your opponent to die. Alright, I think I can work out a good criteria form that statement. ~Skill is being more powerful than your opponent~, well I can measure power by saying I am more powerful than you because I have 99 attack you have 50 (examples). That doesn't make sense, therefore my criteria must be wrong or 99 ISN'T more powerful than 50 attack. Here is my next suggestion: ~Skill is the ability to outwit your opponent and or defeat them~ If I manage to kill my opponent, even if it was partly due to luck, that means that luck is also a skill. If I am losing and manage to escape, then am I more skilled than my opponent? I believe so. The most skilled player killers can be found on the hiscores of bh and FoG, the latter heavily based on strategy. The criteria checks out so far. Monster hunting requires little skill, only knowledge of the monsters' attacks and weaknesses. Skilling requires no skill because it has no opponent. (I could argue that "goals" are opponents, but then we'd be getting nowhere). Ok, so using the criteria: "Skill is the ability to outwit your opponent and or defeat them", means that the statement "Pking is better than skilling because it requires skill" is now true. But now the statements "People revere those with skill" and "People revere those with high levels" come into play. "All A is B; All A is C; therefore All B is C" That syllogism is correct, yet it isn't correct in the real world. Why? Therefore, my criteria must be wrong if it doesn't make sense. I'm stumped. Care to offer a suggestion to what skill is or is it too ambiguous or broad?
  7. You could say that Karil's is a tanking set of armor with high damage output. It's as fast as a msb for pete's sake, it SHOULD be less accurate. The armor has good magic defense, but I think it sacrifices melee defense for that, though I'm not sure. It's good armor, but when compared to the degree of other barrows armor, it pales in comparison.

Skill: What is your criteria of skill? Is it a person who clicks less is the better/more skilled player? If that is the case, then the person who doesn't play Runescape at all is the better player. Then, maybe it is the one who gains the most with the fewest amount of clicks? Well, then we must assess "most". Most: I assume that the "most value" is the "best payoff". Well, if that is the case, then I dare say that skillers make more money than pkers. Note: "skillers" includes those who normal/slayer monster hunt as well as preform non-combat skills because they both give little if no adrenaline rush like pking. Why do you think that most bots and rwt were skillers? Monster hunting would be under the radar more and thus less "restarts". If you say that "most value" is the "most fun", then that is purely opinionated and changes with every person. Opinions cannot be disproved and therefore cannot be used in a logical argument. Therefore, the theoretical response "Pking is better than skilling because it requires more skill" is either false or unable to be argued[/hide] And really, what are you trying to say? Jagex is trying to take out risk? Jagex is trying to run itself into the ground? Considering that pvp worlds are MORE dangerous than the wild (since it includes wild levels AND normal 5 + 10% of level), Jagex must be trying to increase risk, or do you say that the pvp worlds were unintentional? If Jagex were trying to run itself into the ground, then they would have done so already by firing all of its employees, or do you think that Jagex is too stupid to realize this? Are you trying to say that Jagex is making the game worse? Then why not let the bots run rampant? They ruin the enjoyment of legitimate players and therefore make the game worse, or do you believe that causing malice upon new players is actually beneficial to the game as a whole? There are many flaws in your arguments. If you are trying to say that runescape is dead, what do you mean by that? The game community is dead? You can look at activity charts to see that that statement is not true. That the previous community is dead? That is actually true. Of course, then that also means that the community ten months, six months, one month, two weeks, and yesterday are also dead. If I have addressed none of your arguments and points, then please clarify.

Not everybody wants the constant expenditure of barrows armour for what they think is a small bonus. If people can easily make the money or not is beside the point. If you can make up the money for one repair in 1 day, then the cost is negated isn't it? 100 - x + x = 100 So yes, the factor of making up money IS part of point.
  12. [Source] Might seem a bit lame, but it was intentional. Actually, it probably wasn't. They hear about this, go "HOLY CRAP! We forgot to let the knights drop the armor! But we can't take the blame...", and say that it was "intentional" all along. And if that's not true, than that mod whatever certainly does NOT have his head screwed on right. If that were true, then why not change the drop table? Andrew G. said unbalanced trade was only a few lines of code, surely a drop table is not that large for 3 items? When you think of it that way, then their explanation checks out. Besides, unless it has "destroy" option on a quest item, you can assume it is either EXTREMELY out of whack to retrieve the item (lunar armor for the price of mystic *glares*) or you can't retrieve (beads of the dead/dark dagger). And why would someone drop the armor? It's free, almost the same stats as RUNE and tradeable. I personally wouldn't drop or sell it; I still have a phoenix crossbow and slave clothes for some nostalgic reason even though I haven't taken them out of my bank for 3 years. And if they did put the armor in the drop table, the price of rune would go even lower.
  13. I have to say, I agree with you completely. Every skill cape is an accomplishment, whether it's cooking or slayer. The only thing I must add is that the quest point cape should now be going extinct :lol: . The 65 farming and herblore makes this a very "hard" cape to accomplish. Too bad I wasn't one of the lucky few to do the quest and reclaim my cape :cry:
  14. I must be the exception then since I manage to keep my dagger about 9/10 of the time. Finding a lvl 1 clay deposit also works wonder; free prayer pots and sup set! :thumbsup:
  15. actually, I take out 1 of those mages after ~10 deaths \ , but then that's just me, a lvl 116 tank with 83 mage and 86 defense and 70 prayer. However, you're right; 2 v 1 isn't very favorable. The difference between 2 v 1 and 3 v 2 is vastly different, so I won't get into that. The relevance is that very rarely is there only a single person being spawn killed. Usually it's about 4-6. If those people just used tactics (like all pile 1 mage with smite and protect item), they would eventually break through the defenses and either kill the mage or force them to retreat (which is basically just as good in terms of fighting).

There's a simple way to solve this: Anticipation First thing you should do instead of going out and trying to pk: get AT LEAST a bunch of lvl 3 clay and turn them into daggers. lvl 4 is preferable. lvl 4 daggers have same atk as lvl 3 scimitars and are msb speed on rapid. Just 1 item out side outsid eyour base, protect item, smite + piety, die with retribution. The cycle adds up a lot. En masse about 4 people can take out a lvl 138 barraging if they spread out at first. For multiple people, well, that's why you have 10 people on your team! Pile each person with 10 dagger!

  19. You're kidding? Have you tried to swing a REAL battle axe before? They are about twenty pounds. And rangers have quivers on their legs, so all they have to do is do the fluid motion of pulling up, out and release. Battle axes have to swing HARD and then recoil back without being hit.

Well, if the posts before are true and Movario is searching for the Stone of Jas, then that means that Lucien is basically trying to become one of the Elder Gods (gods stronger than Guthix, look them up on runewiki :ohnoes: ). My theory is that the fist of Guthix is the Stone, but just a hunch based on the designs of the fist and the cutscene from Making History. Mistress Seren is more than just made up of crystal. Not only is she the "divine" aspect of the Animal Mundi, but she ties directly with the Stone: the source of both magic AND the Animal Mundi. Quite frankly, I hope that one of the Elder Gods takes the stone from Geilinor forever; it's causing tension to build up dramatically. The quests are setting up the world like in a game of "squares"; the players keep drawing lines until it's impossible to NOT give a box to the other. The world will probably go into another gods war at this rate, but not before Kaqueemex and his druids are killed to prevent the Edicts of Guthix from following through :cry:
  23. It's been confirmed as a bug and fixed; everyone who did not receive a hood during the 2007 event will both lose one gained through this bug and be unable to claim the hood.
  24. What would have if they added another set of god-trimmed armor? Like Zarosian armor? Zaros is popular, but would it be more popular than even Guthix? :-k
  25. And in both cases, the longsword spec owns the hardest since it can hit slightly less harder than a dds but MUCH more accurate.
