  1. Wait, you're trying to get 99 cooking for f2p? Or for being member's? If it's for f2p, that is a huge waste of cash. It's like getting 99 magic on f2p, no point. Swordfish stop burning at about 86 I think, so you can "stop" there. Magic maxes out at 85 with tb. Once you max out in the skill and the only reason for continuing is for prestige, it can be quite a pathetic situation, especially (as you have stated) if it leaves you broke. No, don't go for 99 cooking. Go for about 85 or so for maxing out in burn rates. Once you do that, spend your money on something worthwhile, like runes for those black hole of a money drains in FFA :D. If you are becoming member's, I still wouldn't advise it mainly because noobs would hate on you for having an "easy" cape. But mostly just because it maxes out on members with cooking gauntlets at 96 with sharks. Instead of buying the fish, you could fish it yourself. That way, you become more self-sufficient in the process. And if you're becoming a member a comitted to going broke, then blow all your money on magic so you can get a bunch of exp (exp rate is about 1 exp per 2 gp right now, but it could go up). Either way, 99 cooking is not practical. I would highly advise keeping the cash cushion instead of giving it up for a cape that has the same stats as the obsidian counter-part.
  2. Let's say drag bones are 2.3k ea. 288 exp with ecto 252 exp with gilded altar It will take 250,000 exp to level up. That's 993 drag bones with altar or 869 drag bones with ecto First is 2,283,900 gp Second is 2,065,400 gp Alrighty, 220k isn't that bad of a difference. Or is it? 92-99 is 6.5 million exp That's 25,794 dragon bones with altar. And 22,570 dragon bones with ecto 59,326,200 gp with altar 51,911,000 gp with ecto Basically, you pay 8.4 million gp for "convenience". Granted, people who have 60 mill to spend on prayer is like my having 21 mill and spending about 1.5 mill. You can buy a lot with 1.5 mill, but it's not as much as 21 mill by far. If I were to spend all my money on skills, I'd go the somewhat slower way and make it as efficient as possible time wise and then spend the left over money on something else *cough*magic*cough* than spend all of my money on one skill just because I'm impatient. Then again, that's just me. And just to say what that 8.4 million gp can buy, it can buy 4.2 million magic exp. That's about 94-99 magic right there. But of course, pc is my best bet since it actually EARNS money. And at lvl 98 prayer, the exp rate is almost identical to dragon bones with ecto (~288 exp per point).
  3. get 0.3 combat lvl more (i.e. lvl up in attack or strength) and then camp at pc for about half a week or so without stopping. I'm assuming that 53-60 is far less than 62-70 (in my case) and that took me 9 days. I'll guess it will take about 4 or 5 days but I could be wrong. If you decide to use your winnings for bones DON'T GO WITH GILDED ALTAR. Even if it does have the highest exp/hour it still does not give as much exp as the ectofunctus which can be a life saver for those on a budget. Finally, if you can't stomach pc, you can always do the penguin points and kill dragons. I still suggest pc though.
  4. If you can do it, armored zombies are the best melee exp. May not be able to do it with your stats; forgot their combat lvls
  5. Alright, now I'm convinced for armored zombies. I never really cared about making the money, just making sure it didn't cost me much or anything And I don't need to see your thread, already read through it twice :P
  6. Since I've gotten nothing better to do, and I have some many sc points, it's overwhelming me, I'm going for 99 attack. High alch is fastest exp to 99 mage, red chins + mummies for range, but I have never known any specific monsters that people have said: "Kill monster X when training melee." A little help, please? :D pinguimmaiden has reminded me of armored zombies. I've never tried that method so I don't know if it will require a lot of food or if I can bones to peach it all. Help with this as well, please? If it does require copious amounts of food, will it give about break even drops? If not, I'd like an alternative.
  7. Or you could spend 9 days at pc from 62-70 and actually earn money Or you could use the ecto functus. But yes, piety is DEFINITELY worth it. Unlike a lot of my achievements I regularly use piety in combat.
  8. 666...the devil's number...where the hell they got Hell's address, I'll never know. But seriously, 666 is more of a comedic thing in pop culture. And if you're offended by that, more than likely you'll be offended by minor things just as great. IMO I don't even think you mean this because it's so ridiculous. I actually think you posted this just to spam/start a flame war.
  9. The only "problem" with sc is that it will go into a cycle: People realize that making items is a waste of time and 1 item. Then people realize that 1 iteming gives high death rates and is annoying when you die and therefore make items. Probably a way to "break" this cycle is to give all armor except magic armor attack bonuses and nerf the accuracy of the melee and range weapons. That way, the items themselves are weak but gain strength when put together. This isn't really a problem, more of an annoyance because now there wouldn't be any reward for pks.
  10. *Sigh* I will have to explain since you aren't understanding what comp is saying. You have 20 dominos. Each is very big and heavy. They represent players. You can push at the base or at the top. Which do you choose? The top is vastly more easy than at the bottom, but requires a ladder (made a cherry picker?) and a great distance to push. The bottom is extremely hard to move. Therefore, if you can manage to quickly obtain a ladder, then push at the top. But if you're strong enough to push it over at the bottom, then don't bother with a ladder. The force for the top is equal to a feather, the bottom a ten pound weight. Mages, meleers, and rangers all can us either same force and get the same result. The resistance to moving is defense. A toppled domino is a killed player. To sum up my analogy, we are all lvl 99 att, str, magic, and range pures all with 1 defense. Through comp's definition, you can see that if all three have a 1 hit ko possibility (basically), then they are balanced. If any class can "tip" the dominos just as easily, then they aren't overpowered. You can also think of the dominos as items. More dominos equal a more appeasing target. More items also increase survival rate, but by just how much? But now I'm rambling. Just know that there are more than just one tactic and that the only weak "combat style" is defense, but then it doesn't add to offense then, does it?
  11. I'm not saying the weapons are balanced I think they are overpowered, but overpowered armor needs overpowered weapons to balance. If the weapons were too weak, then the full decked out players could escape more easily. So, Jagex decided to damn us all with high powered weapons instead of damn the ones who hold little threat, though this decision has led to the surfacing of other problems (1 iteming for example). The only way as I see it to solve this problem would be to revamp combat as a whole. But yes, since what freakin time period have daggers been as fast as msbs?
  12. ^That's exactly what I said to do with runes and you rejected it -.- ...
  13. Oh, you'd be surprised by how many mages seem to be asleep at the computer. They get sucked into the whole "I must get revenge on that thief and get back my honor!" No. Revenge = stupid waste of time in this game. It will either go into ko (which means infinite loop for the context) or you will have MORE stuff stolen. a lvl 50 who has 99 thieving is a SERIOUS threat on the battlefield. Sure, one of them can be dealt with, but so can a single lvl 138. And I have maged a lot in that game. I have also pickpocketed a lot in that game To answer your question, first, do you even know that npc's have infinite coins on them at all times? Why do we only get a single piece of bread for stealing the baker's whole stock? It is non sequitor, but it keeps the game balanced. You can equivocate an npc to a rock. Why don't we just mine the rock once and get 28 ores? Why don't we actually use our brains and carry 28 items in Sc to give us an edge? Some do. Those are the people who survive/remain un-incapacitated. Npcs : players = apples : to oranges One's great, the other sucks  jking, but if npcs = players, then pvp = pve, which it doesn't by far And to reply to "fighting in Sc is stupid," playing runescape is stupid because it isn't real. And fi playin rs is stupid, then not only is posting on tipit stupid, but we're all stupid for doing it.
  14. Here is a guide on how to use magic effectively in all combat situations. If armor reduced damage, then it would need a higher max hit, but it doesn't and therefore doesn't. I do agree that dragon armor is underused. It should be the most used armor. It it rare and invaluable. Barrows is just plain invaluable. Too high a drop rate. I really doubt that Jagex would put crossbows for f2p. They can do a LOT of damage with high enough ranged level. If they do a max of 27 on ftp, that would a serious issue. I think that a more practical approach to solving the "luck is a skill" problem would be to double hp by adding another hp skill, like stamina. It is p2p only since f2p combat is already balanced. A higher cushion of hp would help a lot in p2p pvp. Bind does not do much in f2p solos. However, in wars or in groups it can be a life-saver. Perhaps snare, but definitely not entangle, purely because of the magic level accuracy not because of the time frame held. F2p magic needs one of two things purely for self-defense: 1)higher dps, best offense is the best defense 2) kiting spells to kill those pesky meleers. Having both would be too much, but one or the other would be very nice. Speed increase would definitely help increase mage dps. HOWEVER, I do hope you realize that if we add fireblasts to the speed of msb on rapid, the same would be of ice barrage or even the god spells/wave spells. The wave spells wouldn't have a high enough dps to keep up with melee and range. The ancient magicks and god spells would be too much by far. Everything that is added to f2p is added to p2p, this has to be kept in mind. I've toyed around with suggesting that strength level dictates metal grade and attack and defense dictate what kind of weapon/armor can be worn. For example, it would take 60 strength to wear dragon metal. It takes 5 attack to wield a dagger 10 short sword 20 mace 30 longsword 40 war hammer 50 battle axe 55 Spear/hastae, including zamorakian spear 60 scimitar 70 2h sword, including saradomin sword 75 Whip 80 barrows weapons 85 Godsword +5 levels to use the weapon's special attack (90 attack to do godsword special, 10 attack for dds spec, etc.) As you go up, the amount of exp in any skill decreases. with no weapon, you receive 6 exp per damage point Barrows weapons give 0.6 exp per damage point, whip would give 0.9 exp. On controlled, you would receive .2 exp in all skills with barrows weapons. By this method, the best exp would either be a longsword or a battleaxe. The godsword would give no exp at all. This wouldn't solve the problem with pvp, but it would give people an incentive to get other weapons. There could be a similar system with range and magic. F(x)=-x where as X dps approaches infinity, F(x) exp approaches negative infinity. There really isn't a way to solve the weapon confinement problem unless you tack on a combat lvl requirement for the type of weapon (not grade). Balancing the dps still wouldn't completely solve the problem because I would rather shoot 2 arrows doing 18 damage max instead of 1 arrow doing 36 damage in twice the amount of time. Still the same dps, but then we get into the accuracy and average hit where < point X, accuracy determines dps for the most part, and > point X strength determines dps for the most part. Basically, they would have to balance the accuracies of the weapons too, which would vary according to the armor types. Combat would become extremely complicated for melee, which is supposed to be a simple skill. I'm all for complex strategies, but I'm sure the people who are not me are not.
  15. No, the people who have 10,000 runes on them are just stupid. If I have 100 elemental runes and someone steals them, I have 1.5k elemental runes banked on my familiar to with draw as I please. If they steal, get a melee weapon, attack, and replace runes. It's not "rigged" because each "item"/stack has an equal chance (1/1 to 1/28) of being stolen. Just because someone doesn't use all of their options doesn't make the game unfair. It's like chess or go; if you put yourself in a mating net or a ladder and then complain, no one will have any sympathy for you because you were stupid and should have anticipated it or just accept the consequences of your mistakes.

    Closed.

    I suggest reading this thread.
  17. There are two simple ways to solve this: 1) train thieving. Get it to 79 and you can pickpocket anyone in the game. or if you cannot be bothered to train it that high, 2) only carry about 100-200 or ele and cat runes while keeping 1k+ of each in a familiar. I suggest doing both.
  18. The reason why the weapons are so over powered is because the armor is so high. You need to ko someone quickly, so high accuracy high strength weapons are needed or the prey would escape too easily. However, when you are up against "normal" armor (leather), there just isn't any excuse. The daggers are over powered by a lot. Why are they even faster than normal daggers in the first place? I took down a lvl 136 in leather by 1 iteming with a dagger. He had leather armor on and a bow + food...the weapons are too powerful for the low armor levels, but too weak if nerfed for the hardcore melee armor. As for pickpocketing, it's fair game. Granted it will own you more so than the difference in combat levels (difference between 1 and 70 thieving is a little bit greater than 1 and 70 attack in terms of success, not weapons/items), thieving puts the thief at a GREAT disadvantage. As a "professional" thief in this game, I know which will work and which is a bad gamble. Tip 1: STAY AWAY FROM THE CLOUD BANKS. I cannot stress this enough. If you stay away, they cna't thieve someone they can't see off screen, well what if they still attempt? attack with magic or jump over a wall/crevice. DO NOT GO INTO A CLOUD BANK. THIS WILL NOT stop them from thieving you. There is a bug (possibly) that allows you to thieve from a target without leaving the fog bank if they are close enough. Tip 2: Always bring another person when raiding. The difference between 2 v 1 and 3 v 2 is vastly different. It is imperative that you work together with teammates. Tip 3: Kilns are the only haven (besides safe room) from thieves. I suggest finding one quickly. Tip 4: Do not give into revenge. Even if they stole your runes, run so they don't steal MORE stuff. If they run after you, either turn around and attack or lead them through your territory to be attacked. why thieves are at a disadvantage: their range is extremely limited for "sniping" or "yoinking" \ . If it's just from spawn camping and people steal your runes, then your fault. Spawn camping is legit but you can easily be overwhelmed near end game if people run back. Closing things: safety and power in numbers. One of the most annoying things is for two one-itemers to confront you. One atacks and the other thieves. They both give a high threat level that gets you dead. A friend will help you survive by increasing dps while mitigating damage. Stealing Creation is much easier when working together efficiently.
  19. I can see where Jagex is going with this update. People wanted it to be more mature and now we have it. It wouldn't surprise me if Jagex began a "campaign" to drastically change the demographic age group from 11-13 to 14-17. It is nice is be able to say "damn it, I died." It just gives something to say out of exclamation of pain (though which are actually overkill and which are not is a moot point.) For those who don't agree that curse words should be used, damn, crap, sucks, etc. in most common usage are exclamations of distaste. If we were as smart as the Japanese, we'd have only one word for this feeling/idea: "kuso". Unfortunately, we are not #-o . Therefore, we compensate by saying these words. Seriously, what matters: the meaning or the word itself? saying "blast it" holds the same water as saying "damn it" (I won't get into the other damn because the theology is an active agent in the preference and that isn't really relevant here at the moment.) Bottom line: all that should be censored are the purely derogatory remarks; the ones that should not be censored are the only partly derogatory remarks. As for the noobs, this is predictable, happens with every update. Wait for a few days/weeks and it will die down.
  20. Avis? You mean avansies? How is that free? The only free exp on a regular basis is tears of guthix, but free exp is not the same as efficient "good" experience. Uhh. I mean in the way that the drops pay for the runes, don't tell me that you are loosing money because you "could" be earning 300k per hour :wall: Oh tears isn't free, the time you spend doing it you could be earning money so really it costs like 100k ¬¬ "Free" hints that it takes nothing to put into the method i.e. FoG It would obviously take money to buy the runes. So instead of saying avansies are free exp, say that the cost is negligible because of the rewards. And since we're all playing a computer game, you could say that we could be working irl and be getting $7 an hour of REAL money and not 300k of fictional money.
  21. Well, I already have 400 points and 3 sets fully charged. So, spending time charging them after my points run dry may be a a waste of time, until that point it would be foolish to not use the armor at all because of the 2x exp. Then you should use the 3 sets and not waste the rest of your points. Avansies are still the best. On what lol? If armor is a waste, then what clay items are not?
