hohto is right and I respect him alot for his commitment to his Nation's policy. Personally, however, while realising that it's necessary for the forces to exist, I find it sad. The thought of disbanding armies and air forces and living in harmony is ludicrous, but it doesn't make it any better for me. I could never join the army, air force, navy or anything like that. It's not so much the fear of being killed yourself that worries me, but the thought that, whether infantry or or non-combat, your work is contributing, in some way, to killing someone. Someone who themselves is innocent and has just lost their lives because of a country's diplomacy. That person could have so easily been your ally, had they been on a different side. Cheesy to quote a computer game, I know, but allow me to say: "We're not tools of the government, or any one else". It angers me how people behind desks declare war and never see a dead body in their lives. It's hypocritical of me to say that I know, with many countries now being a democracy, electing these desk-sitters to power as they reflect the country's interest. But I just couldn't join the army.
