  1. Note: This is NOT an official Valve game. This game is 100% fan created and will be available for free for anyone who owns any Source game. It is reccomended to have a PC capable of running HL2: Episode 2 as the game uses technology from the Source2008 engine. Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lul60ixy ... re=related Hot damn, this game looks amazing. With the exception of Gordon, all of this trailer is ingame material.
  2. I remember playing dodgeball ages ago. You play in most gyms with balls that weigh 1/3 pound if even, made out of foam. There's no possible way anyone can hurt themselves with those things unless they start eating them. If you are playing with rubber balls, there is an issue. But foam balls that are softer than NERF? Please.
  3. Turning your newborn infant into a political statement. Yes, you should have your license to breed taken away. Good God, some of the people on this planet. The name the child was given is not the issue. The fact they are using it as a tool for publicity is the problem. A child's name is something precious, that they will be forever known by. And the fact is that people are going to identify this person through their name forever. Exactly. You should be screwing around with your own life, not your child's.
  4. Well, now that I think about it, the first time I did the Underground Pass quest. I was alone, nobody was online and it was late at night. I was out of food and continually failing obstacles and the little messages in the chat window were absolutely demoralizing. Terrible time.
  5. The first time I saw Mother Mallum. It terrified me for some reason, the creature was so disturbing. I wonder if the effect would have been greater now with HD.
  6. God that's funny  I wonder how heavily sentenced the journalist will be though. I doubt he will be let off lightly again. If the US gets control of his destiny I forsee a presidential pardon and a tip to take up more practice. If the Iraqis get him he might never be seen again. I'm hoping the former.
  7. He's a journalist who has written articles for the New Yorker. It's fair to say that this guy was educated and likely the fanatic kind of liberal. He was not making a gesture in genuine form, he was doing it intentionally to make a point. This was simply a publicity stunt, kind of like the "don't taze me, bro!" guy.
  8. Why less organized religion? The major denominations of Christianity like Catholicism, Methodism, Episca...(that word I can't spell one) are the ones who teach their members peaceful coexistance and donate huge amounts of money to the less fortunate, developing nations, and medicinal breakthroughs. Most of the evangelical right-wing Christians are from groups like the Baptists who don't have any central structure and every church has it's own identity. They will generally raise money for local charities and stuff but not having any central theology leads to all sorts of fun stuff based on one person's interpretation of the Bible as opposed to a council or even a conference.
  9. You have obviously never read the Koran. They worship the same God and have some similarities, but it stops there.
  10. Islam. Given current growth rates, it'll be the world's largest religion by sometime in the 2020's, iirc. Of course, that's primarily due to population growth rates in the Middle East and Saharan nations, which is pretty much unsustainable for the next 20 years. So, feasibly, you'd expect Christianity to remain the largest religion until then, possibly until the mid 21'st century and possibly until the 22nd century. Really, no one knows what'll happen. Just don't be a Thomas Woolston. It's not a race to see who is the largest. Christianity isn't going to die off if it takes second place. It is also very unlikely that the entire world is going to embrace Islam as their religion. All religions survive as long as there is someone practicing them.
  11. Actually, just saying that it would be very difficult for Christianity to die. If it were to even face a worldwide ban for some terrible reason the devout worshipers would simply take it underground like it was in Rome. Christianity was forged in the crucible, it can survive there. To be honest, we could use something like that to weed out all the Christians "in name only." Your faith is never stronger than when you have no right to it. As for the question, I can't imagine what it would take to dislodge Christianity so it would probably be some weird quasireligion based on worshiping a living person, probably a dictator.
  12. Unless you have a need for maples, I would not go that route. They are worth less than the money you spend on them. The most profitable formulae is 100% raw fish and 50% flax, which will net you about 300k per day (more if you spin the flax), herb seeds, and half keys.
  13. The front isn't topheavy. The reason that the tail fuselage is so long is to compensate for the weight in the front. Believe it or not that's actually pretty good looking for a German design in the late war and stranger things actually flew.
  14. There were many "Secret Weapons" of the Luftwaffe. Some were practical like the Gotha 229 Flying Wing and the Heavy Water bomb. Some worked out of desperation like the Komet (a one way rocket) and others were just ludicrous like that one plane that used ramjets on a rotor to fly like a helicopter. Desperation leads to innovation. Many of those German designs went on to create projects like the X planes and made such things as supersonic flight, space travel, and such possible.
  15. Most people begin to have waking dreams and living nightmares after a few days. I had a friend who decided he'd try that and worms started crawling out of the walls on day four. There are some exceptions, of course, but the vast majority of people need to sleep regularly.
  16. You are going solely on price? Dragon isn't meant to be the best. It's meant to look good. Note how the Dragon Platebody has a requirement of 60 defense while Torags has requirement of 70.
  17. he could suggest it, but then itd have to be approved....by congress.... -.- There must be some way to do it without getting shut down by Congress. What happened to the three branches balancing each other out? Get an executive order and hope the Judiciary declares it constitutional.
  18. I'm sorry, blaming groups that collect money and use it to feed/shelter/provide for those in poverty?
  19. What exactly are you asking "conservatives" to do? Throwing money at things is not going to solve anything. It's going to take something more. If you want to throw generalizations out there, there are tons of "liberals" who think that throwing money at every last problem is going to solve it. AIDS, dictators in Africa, poverty, disaster relief...money helps, but does it solve any problems or merely drag out the situation? What, pray tell, do you propose we do? Just like the article tells us that something is wrong although they don't know what causes it, you are implying that something is drastically wrong with how we provide for the impoverished without providing any input as to how we should fix it. Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he eats for a lifetime. I spend a lot of time in the frontlines of this very issue. My goal is to inspire students to reach out and get that associates or even just a bachelors degree that will vastly improve their lives and break their families free of the poverty trap. Hell, my neighbor is a young hispanic gentlemen who lives in the "economy" apartment. While he may not have much money he is finishing up his masters degree which he has slaved years in "low wage" jobs to pay for. When he finishes this degree, he's going to be going into chemical engineering and making more money than I can even imagine. I met his parents the other day. The father is a construction worker and the mother does laundry. They drive a beat up old car and certainly fit the appearance of people in poverty. They worked their entire lives to get their son this far, and it's going to pay off. My family was penniless when they got off the boat 160 years ago. They were penniless 50 years ago. They worked hard to get their kids into college and it paid off. It is not true that everyone can "make it" (what the hell does that mean, anyways?) if they work hard enough. What is true that if they work hard enough and instill these principles into their children, those children will certainly "make it." Is welfare needed to help those who are sick, old, and infirm? Yes. Is it needed for everyone who receives it? That's for the government to decide, not me. But I am going to go on trying to inspire kids to work hard even if their parents and society tells them not to.
  20. Someone tell me, how much do they in America? Not much, to be honest. We always just got the "use a condom" speech and that was years ago.
  21. Nobody is trolling here but you, bud. I for one have not used any personal attacks here. I was responding to magekllr in a way that would get him to open up. You are a third wheel who seems to have some attitude that you are right and everyone else is wrong, and that you have to win. But, you don't. It's not your argument. EDIT: After reading acquariusman's post below mine. I had meant last night to say (it was 1AM, I was tired) that I am against abstinence only education. I tell my students and will tell my children that if they absolutely must have sex, protect yourselves. The reason I made my joke there is because kids go out and have sex for the sake of having sex and it usually wrecks their social lives or somewhat, where the punchline that it might have been better for them to be abstinent. Ha ha. Hence the little explanation after I said "Let's do abstinence only!" which seems to have been left out by people quoting.
  22. I say the Bible Belt brings this stereotype to us loud and clear. Having lived in the Bible Belt, it's not like that. Sure, there are hicks. But almost every city in the Bible Belt has a major university in it (Texas Tech, Abilene Christian, Texan Christian, Ouchita Baptist etc) (note: while many of these schools have Christian names, they are liberal arts schools that differ only by having more theology classes available. They have equal ratios of liberal/conservative students like most universities). You will find a lot of educated people from all sorts of political and religious beliefs. I for one am really getting tired of the "hick" stereotypes. People do not carry guns in the streets or in cars (it's illegal), we do not ride horses, the KKK fears popular opinion, most Christians are nice people, and hicks are looked down on. The South is just like any other part of the country except for our accent. The reason it's called the Bible Belt is because of the string of universities originally started as Christian schools which now are liberal arts schools. It stuck.

I'm actually kind of mad at myself for clicking on it for the first time in six months.
  24. Ooh! I know this! I know this! It's because it doesn't work! That's why! You didn't catch the satire there, did you? Sorry, I thought it was pretty clear. and the rest of the post after it is the dumbest [cabbage] I've ever read. Your argument effectively boils down to "Vote for my preferred candidate or you're a Nazi." Of course someone's political view points should affect whether or not they're elected to a position of power. That's the entire point of democracy. Are you 'speshul' or something? Edit: All right, not the *entire* point. *Sigh* I was presenting hyperbole. I was expressing the point of view that it is not worth having all the peace and safety if it comes at the cost of differing opinions. Jeb has not harmed anyone with his personal beliefs. I never called anyone Nazi, and I never told anyone to vote for Bush. For one thing, he's not "my candidate." I am simply sticking up for him considering that people are bashing on him purely for the fact that his brother is George Bush. I think the fact that I teach government and history gives me the right to try to make people think a bit. Which is what I have done with Magekllr. He and I have been having these discussions for years. At least you thought for a moment. You are correct. I know that their opinions have influences. But should it? It shows how shallow our political process has become. We do not elect based on results, merely on a "popularity contest" of sorts. In this case, more of the infamous nature of Jeb's brother. If they were not related, this would not even be newsworthy. Nobody would even care, outside a few people in Florida. Thank you Quoi_Tu. I can always leave it to you to see satire, whether you agree with me or not :P. My post was intended to be ridiculous. Since you've been here so long you should know my debating style well. I've only been here arguing with people for close to three years now. Just because you've been here "longer" does not mean you have experience participating in these debates. If you really believe that having a join date earlier than ours makes you right, then you are having problems anyways.

Read my edit above. Like I said in the other thread, extreme "left and right" are very annoying to me, as they are generally ignorant and misinformed. As for your personal experiences, I do detect a LOT of hostility in some of your posts that kind of scream "rebelling! RAWR!" to me so forgive me if I treat you a little harshly. I, on the other hand, have willingly gone to church for 16 years. My parents never forced me to go after I was a certain age, before then it was just because they of course could not leave me alone. The Christian "right" is a real mess nowadays for a variety of reasons internal and external which I like to think of as a vast confusion. I'd post more thoughts but I must be on to class.
