They're complaining because they lost. People have been doing it since the beginning of time. Politicians, athletes, kids playing games, everyone tries to find an excuse as to why they lost. Think of it this way, if China didn't get the gold, do you think anyone would be complaining about a girl being underage? Probably not, considering that all of our girls (and those from the other nations) have, can, and will provide concrete proof that they are eligible for competition beyond the call of the IOC's meager requirements. Yuyuan can't even provide a freaking birth certificate, just the passport which is sadly all that is required. I've spent the past year with people aged 14-17, including ones who have been training for athletic competition. They generally look *more* mature for their age, even the gymnasts. I have not met a single person who has not said "bullcrap if that girl is 15" yet.

The thing about this whole Chinese gymnast controversy is really only a question of two athletes out of six. Four of the girls look perfectly 15 or 16 without any question. They have been training just as hard as the two who look prepubescent, who are the girls that are the issue. Also about the American coaches. None of them are American. There's a Russian, Romanian, and Chinese coach, all of which who are gold medal winners. If they complain, they probably have a legitimate reason.
  3. As a teacher who owns guns, I can safely say I would never want to carry one to school with me.
  4. Why are we nesting quotes so badly?
  5. I am not in Lubbock anymore, I've moved to Nacogdoches. I need to update my profile.
  6. The town involved is in the middle of the desert, near the border, and had a graduating class last year of four. It's nothing atypical. But thank you for stereotyping Texans, who make up some of the most educated and successful Americans, for no reason. I am sure if you gave me five minutes I could find something stupid to say about wherever you are from. Please take the time to be classy and get off of your bigotry, all of you. The vast majority of Texans think the bill is stupid, but it's the county's right to do that. It would not happen anywhere else in Texas. Ever. As for someone who claimed that many teachers in the US are unqualified, Texas State Law requires that ALL teachers have state issued certification that requires a college degree and a certain amount of credit in the content area. And as of this morning, no teachers in that county have been packing heat. What a terrible world we live in where we have religious, political, social freedoms, can say what we want without fear of censure or someone breaking down our door in the middle of the night.
  7. Actually, learn to type properly and then adjust your attitude. It is not necessary to flame people just for the sake of doing so. And for your information, freshwater shrimp are also known as crawdads, or...crayfish.
  8. It's not pagan, Frank. Everyone's wearing clothes.
  9. The amount of irrational quoting the Bible in no context in here makes intellectual arguments and commentary cry. Don't quote the Book out of context. Please.
  10. I said I don't believe in any of that nonsense and that I was using the title for attention. Well the liberal media would be biased to you, so that's not a surprise. Would FOX be better? It was from The Guardian if anyone was wondering. I get my news from AP/Reuters, thank you very much. But I'm still saying that the article has a visible bias against the treaty. I spend hours every week pouring over papers for neutrality.
  11. If I remember correctly, there was great praise in the scientific community for the concept of eugenics from the 1880's to the 1940's. The only real reason people started to universally look down upon it was because of the Nazis.
  12. The Crusades were just as much a perversion of religion as the eugenics movement was a perversion of science.
  13. Hitler was religious, and to 'survival of the fittest' is life's 'thinking'. Linking Darwin and Eugenics is not really fair. On that note, linking modern Christianity to the Crusades is not fair. But it has been done time and time again on these forums.
  14. Biased article and you are starting to sound like Crystalwingz.

:wall: Go back to 4chan if that's all you've got to say. The past 7 years have been [cabbage] with this worthless war (aside from getting rid of Saddam), rising prices, etc. The war has nothing to do with it. Gas prices have nothing to do with inflation, but OPEC. And it's not just the US that's feeling this pressure. OPEC has decided to screw the whole world on oil just to line their pockets. As for tuitions, that's up to the colleges, which have to adjust to match their spending on expansion. I had to deal with $3000 dollars worth of increase over the four years I spent in school. My oldest sister went to college in the 90's and it was just as bad. As for everything else, prices rise. The war is not the only factor causing us to have this sort of thing. The housing market got screwed because of legislation and a lack of forethought that happened almost a decade ago. It's not just the US that's feeling problems. Inflation hits the whole world, you know. All the currencies are so linked that it's a forgone conclusion. As for gas prices, I remember when it cost 98 cents back in the 80's :P.
  16. Not to mention being very unfair to the person who paid FULL PRICE to have the seat you are taking up half of.
  17. If you go along that route, Goddess, Hitler was a pedantic psychopath who mixed and matched religions at will. He set out for trivial objects like the Spear of Destiny and the Holy Grail and was obsessed with creating his own religion. He was a certifiable loon, albeit a genious at that.
  18. I hope your teachers make fun of the dog collars and wolf tails because I totally would if it was one of my students :P.
  19. We are at a low point right now with an all-volunteer army (many nations have conscripted armies that are much larger. And I mean combat troops) but we are definitely the strongest nation logistically.
  20. Agreed. It's one thing if a customer is being a jerk and you ask them to leave. It's not appropriate to spit in their burger, damage their property, or shaft them on service. Give them 100% or give them none. Don't mess with them personally.
  21. Yay for Astralinre and sense! :D
  22. Ok, I consider myself overweight at 6'0" and 250 pounds (although to be honest people say I look great for that). I fly Southwest a lot and I have PLENTY of clearance in those seats. Having sat next to fat people (I will not call them obese or "overweight" unless there's a 'moribdly' in there) on planes, I support this policy. I paid for my seat and when I can not get all of it to myself, I have a problem. It's only fair that they pay for two seats.
  23. That's how it's described in the bible, too. But the question is, how did it happen exactly as the Hebrews crossed? You can't prove/disprove miracles with science. That's just a silly thought, really.
  24. By that logic, the New Jesus Army derived from Christianity, so all Christians are to blame for their aggresive actions. At least I can see the flawed logic in that. I think the point is more that the New Jesus Army would not exist if there was no Christianity. He isn't blaming Darwinists for the Eugenics movement, he's just saying that it's a stem of it.
  25. We can't only blame Hitler. Many of his staff were just as fond of eugenics as he was. In fact in that time period (1890-1945), eugenics was a popular notion being debated around the world. Until the Nazi's kind of killed it. And while Social Darwinism may not be Darwinism, it derives from it. That's the point whoever said it was trying to make. And that's the thing that causes these debates. We have people on both sides who feel that way.
