Is Social security In USA as bad as "sicko" shows?
So Bluelancer, you are in favor of giving everyone free healthcare, right? That's really going to help the people who can't afford most healthcare...especially when they are starving on the streets. America makes up the Healthcare fiasco by not imposing huge taxes on everyone like other nations. It's not a terribly good solution, but it's not as bad as the alternative. There are free clinics all over the United States that are run by privatized hospitals. Michael Moore obviously was spending too much time wondering how he was going to spend his money that he forgot to look up solutions. My father is a major player in a major hospital system here in Texas. On my way to Starbucks this morning I passed three clinics set up for the less fortunate. They offer every sort of care short of surgery, and grant allowances for that. Not all corporations are greedy old white men bent on committing genocide like Mr. Moore would have you believe. The man's a sensationalist hack. "Sicko" was so full of holes...

America+Middle Eastern=Racism?
The children calling you names for being of another race are complete idiots. From my observations as a teacher, I've noticed that it's become popular in the 8th and 9th grades (US, when a student goes from Primary to Secondary school) that racism is becoming a "cool" trend, but really only against Hispanics and Middle Eastern students. Most of the Hispanic kids take it in stride, because they have a well-established community here and are very proud of their culture. But what I have noticed of Middle Eastern students is that they wish to fit in, and are scared of being labeled such things as "terrorists" and the like. Therefore, when someone jokingly calls them that, they freak. And because they are giving in to the teasing, more teasing follows. The war in Iraq is not about racism. I support the war fully, and I have numerous friends of Middle Eastern origin, most of which are Islamic. I fully support their customs, am not offended when they pray, etc. When 9/11 hit, we baked our Islamic neighbor some food (yes, it adhered to the food laws) because he had mentioned that he was afraid to go to the store. The problem is that some idiots out there are firmly attached to xenophobia. And to some replies: -WookieeMania: The word you are looking for is Containment. It was our policy to deal with Communism and it's what we are using now against Terrorism. -Darkmage: By subscribing to the "stereotypical terrorist" are you not yourself being biased? I've seen many men with turbans and beards and didn't really worry about it. Ginger and BlueLancer: The IRA is indeed Catholic, with the PIRA and the ULA being the major Protestant groups. This subject is a little bitter to me, as a Catholic friend of mine in Ireland was killed by an IRA carbomb (in essence, a Catholic killed by Catholics). It really saddens me to see my home Island in such strife. Ambassador: Being a history teacher, would you mind explaining why my teaching is garbage? Teachers are forced to teach a curriculum (even before No Child Left...). Sometimes we have to skip a lot of things. Treatment of Christians in Rome is a little more important to history than it is in Lebanon. Althalus: It's pretty ridiculous to do a lot of things. Like I stated earlier, kids like to be racist for some reason. Of course, kids at that age will do absolutely anything for a laugh. After all, if Dave Chappell or that Mencia guy can be purely racist and get laughs, why can't they? BlueLancer: Every religion (and anti-religion) has it's extremists. And about the IRA vs PIRA: because news companies get more revenue talking about white people being killed by non-white people than they do white people killing white people. Watch your evening news. Most murders according to the news happen between mixed races, right? Even though you know white people can and do kill eachother? Same principle. And I am too lazy to continue. But yeah, the kids making fun of you are dolts, etc.

Inspired by Shaz's determination, I would like to decree that the "T-Shirt" that some of you might have thought I was wearing in my pictures is indeed actually a top-coat. Silly cameras and their wacky perceptions!

Genetic Profile Reading - Would you?
What's immoral about it :| ? [if I'm reading your post right] I'll admit, yes, it sounds strange and gives those children who are born in the right families an advantage (but then again, when has been being born in the right family not given an advantage?), but I'm having trouble trying to blatantly label it as "immoral". While someone in privelage might have an advantage, when it comes down to it everyone has a chance of outperforming them. But what about a genetic superman who is smarter, faster, stronger, and superior to you in every way? And the limit as to who can afford such processes range in the top 3% of all human life.

Genetic Profile Reading - Would you?
So in other words, Indy, you support only the very rich being able to make these superchildren? Because I can be sure as hell you or your next 10 generations will ever be able to afford such a procedure. It beats the crap out of morality.

Genetic Profile Reading - Would you?
I have no problems with reading your own genetic profile. It's not like it's entirely accurate, anyways (You might have the risk for a disease, but never catch it). I still shudder to think about Eugenics (reading profiles of zygotes and eliminating undesirable ones) and genetic manipulation (choosing gender, capabilities, intelligence, etc).

Genetic Profile Reading - Would you?
This is the part I disagree with. It's Eugenics, and it simply means that those with money can create their own master race, making humans a subspecies. This kind of technology is just wrong.

Existance
To add to what Mercifull stated, attempting to think about non existence often frightens people. It's completely beyond our ability to comprehend.

Jagex's Extreme Measures: "Freedom is not Free"
The answer can be found in today's Development Diary: To sum up the article: Gold farmers have been using stolen Credit Cards to pay for bots membership. Instead of making money from Credit Cards, Jagex was actually LOSING money overall from CC sales. Their industrial bank told them to either fix the problem, or the bank would stop cancel their account. So in other words, Jagex was forced to use a heavy hand to stop Real World Trading immediately, else Runescape would be shut down in 2008. Basically, they were forced to lay down this extreme update and then fix it later. Here's the article, for those interested:

Dealing with Death
No offense, but that's really not healthy. You are turning your emotions into anger, which you release with violence (albeit synthetic). Eventually, you may turn to physical violence in reaction to emotional stress in the future. It's not a good thing.

Dealing with Death
This summer I had been staying with my grandmother in order to work and take some classes at the same time. She was as healthy as could be for her age. One morning I woke up to a quiet house and found her passed away in her favorite chair. Shook the hell out of me. My advice to you is: 1) Cry 2) Be strong 3) Remember the good times 4) Cry, damnit. Seriously, just cry. When a loved one dies you have dozens of emotions running through your mind and they are often in turmoil. So let them out. I cried for almost three hours that day. And after that, grief passed quickly. I realized that she was in a better place, and that if I were to feel bad for her, I shouldn't. At the funeral, I talked about the good times and was a source of comfort and warmth for my entire family. But above all remember: It's ok to cry.

Annoying customers
I've worked as a bagger, cashier, Sales Rep (with no commission :(), Deli Slicer and a Gourmet Chef in the Service Industry. In the latter two jobs I had been in college for a few years and had my attitude set. If someone was rude to me, I'd just say "NEXT!" The problem with my hometown is that it's one of the three major cities in the fastest growing and most wealthy county in the entire United States, and happens to lie in Texas. As a result, many people from up North come down, and expect every Texan to be a hick. Therefore, many of them treat Texans with disregard and act arrogant. So, I just deny them service. It's my right.

New wilderness - hell for clue scrolls?
The new creatures spawn, but act like normal monsters. Just avoid them as if you were avoiding a PKer. I managed to visit every major clue dig site in the wilderness today nekkid. I saw some new monsters plus mobs of them, but managed to avoid attack entirely.

Guys, can you please stop quoting Hippom's image? This is the "post your picture" thread, not the "ogle the girls of Tip.It" thread. Plus, every time you quote it you are causing more pain for the people on dial-up. She's attractive, but her picture has been quoted 16 times now.

The Army of the Future
Star Wars was not a waste in it's day. You probably didn't have the benefit of being born and raised at the height of the Cold War, but even a four year old like me was scared stiff of nuclear Armageddon. The American people were behind Star Wars and STI research. It's just that the Cold War ended before the project was completed, and the government cancelled the project as it wasn't needed.
