  1. If I am unable to donate blood because I have a family history with diabetes, this law is perfectly justified. People with prostitution or needle-based drug use can't give blood either (same reason as the Gay clause). It makes sense, actually.
  2. About bloody time we abolished the practice of selling new items for ungodly prices.
  3. Err...Israel owned that land for thousands of years. Until the great Diaspora occurred, when the Jews were driven from Israel and scattered across the world. Palestine came, couldn't grow sod on rocks for farming and GLADLY sold Israel to the US and Britain in 1947. Based on a few Palestinian officials who did not like having to share power with white Jews, a movement began to retake Israel. All this movement was due to the officials wanting to regain power, and playing on the radical religious elements of their nation (only a few compared to many, sounds familiar?) to wage war on Israel. Long after these men are dead, their legacy remains covered in blood. Israel has proposed giving Palestine sovereignty (like the US gives Guam and Puerto Rico) but it has been denied. As far as the occupied territories? Israel earned those lands in the Seven Day War. And about the discussion about the US sponsoring the Taliban? Untrue. We sponsored the Mujhadin during the Afghani War in the 1980's (watch Charlie Wilson's War, for Pete's sake!). However, we did not CONTINUE to help Afghanistan financially after the war, and the Taliban was able to ride the waves in and wrestle control from the Mujhadin (the Mujhadin are now known as the Northern Alliance and helped the US evict the Taliban). The phrase "get your facts right" has paramount meaning here.
  4. Try to imagine what it would be like. You can't. Ergo, it's incomprehensible. Just because I can't "feel" nothingness, just because I can't shut down my mind at will, that doesn't mean it's impossible for me to comprehend the concept :| . Try to comprehend nothingness for eternity. It's hard for me to describe, and that's the point. Imagine being concious after death in nothingness for eternity. It's like being buried alive, but worse. There's your fear. From a scientific standpoint though you wouldn't be conscious... you'd just be gone. To re-quote Lao Tzu... We have no idea what happens to the mind or soul (if it exists) after death, only the body.

  6. The fear of death extends to the inability for humans to comprehend nothingness. It's very understandable.
  7. My greatest fear is free fall. I feel all fine and good skydiving because I have the control of a parachute, but short freefalls on rides? Scares the hell out of me. My worst nightmares are falling off buildings.
  8. We are pissed off at most of the Smith County officials. They are ruining downtown Tyler and making other stupid dumb decisions.
  9. When the hell did that happen? My parents live in Tyler! I remember there being a serial killer there back in the late 70's/early 80's but I have not heard of this!
  10. It's worse when they stare. Yep, that's mine. I mean honestly, I had to kick the door shut. EDIT: To make it more awkward, the door was LOCKED (one of those cheap little locks) and the person obviously did not get that feet under the door plus the fact that it was locked did not add up to "occupied." Upon closer reflection of the incident, they probably stared because I had my boot knife out :P.
  11. Clothears has been there for a few months, but it's ok. That's not really a very populated area.
  12. Hundred Years War War of the Roses The Magna Carta I mean honestly, you have 1400 years of history there.
  13. So you would then find it acceptable to have the constitution of the USA suspended as long as the 3 other things you stated weren't happening? Compare and contrast the Pakistan Constitution with the U.S. Constitution and it's not a good comparison at all. Two completely different forms of government for one. The elections are not a concrete part of the constitution and were amended in with the "emergency power" clause there along with it. Mussharraf's actions are legal, albeit a little overboard.
  14. Err, look again? Huckabee got 35% of the Republican votes.
  15. Well then, it should only take us back eight years? Huckabee does not deny evolution, he denies Darwinism. There's a significant difference there. "Gracious Submission" is a really dirty way to look at the Hebrew and Christian tenet of marriage. In marriage, the woman is equal to the man, but the man has the final word. "Gracious Submission" makes it sound like the woman is being oppressed. The Ten Commandments are essentially the foundation for law in this Nation. I think it's ridiculous to oppose them being displayed because they happen to be religious (the anti-religious movement in America is absurd in it's own right). Why shouldn't AIDS patients be isolated in hospitals? It prevents slipups on the hospital's part that might expose a non-HIV patient to a terminal disease. Never mind the fact that it's considered to be Bio-Hazard 4 according to the CDC (with 1 being the common cold and 5 being Ebola). Ron Paul is all right as a Conservative, but his views are just absurd in some regards to the point where he alienates the voters. I kinda looked at him for a while as a candidate, but now I can't imagine myself voting for him. And trust me, as "liberal" as the Republicans have gotten, the Democrats are far worse. Clinton makes it sound as if she will run a Totalitarian regime. As for your quote, it's an appeal he's made to Christian voters, and is probably being taken out of context. If you are a Veteran talking to Veterans, you talk about being a Veteran. If you are a Christian talking to Christians, you talk about Jesus.
  16. Well, I do want abortion illegal and I really don't see how having a Conservative in power instantly puts us back a hundred years, unless it's simply your hyperbole. I will stick to my "neocon" (where did you pull this colloquialism out of?) vote.
  17. Why do Republicans scare ya'll? None of the current candidates are anything like Bush, and all candidates on both parties are campaigning along the lines of "cleaning up the mess."
  18. A Caucus is kind of a mock-vote held before the elections as a "poll" to thin out the political candidates. It's a way for the Parties to gauge voter reactions before the primary elections in May that will determine who the final candidates for the President will be. Iowa/New Hampshire are important because they have always been considered the most "on the fence" states with no particular bias towards any particular party. And Indy, why hate on Huckabee? Are you nervous that he won because he's a bad man or because you think he has a good chance of beating the Democrats :P.
  19. Well, the results are in (Republican data still incoming, but enough info had to declare a winner): Democrats: Barack Obama wins Hillary and Edwards tied, both arrogantly (pardon my opinion) state that "it's not over) Republicans: Mike Huckabee flat out winner Rest of votes low tie for Romney, McCain and Thompson Guilianni ignored Iowa, which was kind of stupid So discuss, if you've been watching them or catch the speeches on Youtube. If you are a Chuck Norris fan, at least check out Huckabee's.
  20. Why do people keep posting that Bhutto was a champion of Democracy? In both her terms as PM, she took cutbacks, appointed family and friends to key positions, completely ignored the military (which is what got her kicked out) and did many UN-Democratic things. Now, because Musharaf has been taking flack for the elections, she had returned to Pakistan to ride the waves of the Democratic movement. She could of cared jack what those young people believed in, she just wanted to get into power. Aside from the elections, are there any inhumane things happening in Pakistan? Are people starving? Are human rights being violated on a day to day basis? The answer is no. The key reason the US supports Musharaf, and why I support him too, is because he has a firm grip on his nation's nuclear arsenal and is strictly opposed to their use. As long as Musharaf is in power, the nukes are safe. Whereas if Bhutto had been elected, she might have left them sitting in a random warehouse somewhere like she did ten years ago. As to those saying "Musharaf didn't appoint enough security!!!" Think about this: Are Hillary, Rudy, and all the other candidates getting the top-choice Secret Service agents (never mind the fact that many veteran Secret Service agents refuse to serve Hillary)?
  21. I will take all of your socks. I happened to get a book that I already owned, but meh.
  22. Mythbusters proved it isn't anti-grav. It's actually providing thrust, not anti-gravity.
  23. Bhutto receives all this acclaim about being the "Democratic Reform" candidate for the elections, but it's bullcrap. She only earned that moniker from Western media because she opposes Musharaf, who many believe to be a dictator. Ask many Pakistanis who remember Bhutto's terms as Prime Minister and they will tell you that she was more of a dictator than Musharaf is now. The majority of her supporters are young people who were too young to remember her previous terms. There was a reason she was dismissed by Parliament and kicked out of her own country twice, and it was not because she was a woman. If she was elected PM of Pakistan, it would be just as bad for Democracy. It's sad that she was killed, because her life would have meant at least steps toward democracy. But now that she has been murdered, there's no telling what will happen. And I personally believe it was an extremist group that opposed her based on her gender. Musharaf is not that stupid.
  24. Well: Flannel lounge pants, the greatest thing on earth several historical books to read Nice shirts Two sports coats and a Corduroy Jacket A mini-fridge for my classroom (woot!) I have a few more from my younger sister (being shipped halfway cross the States) that aren't here yet. As for gifts I gave: Beautiful painting for my mom $10 a pair (x2) socks for my dad New Almanac for my brother in Law as well as some hunting items. We prefer to do a "gift exchange" among the family and Santa usually brings the goodies everyone wants.
  25. Not to wet on your coals, but the South is actually much more friendly than the North. Fun facts: The South contains 73% of all U.S. Mosques, and the North boasts 83% of all vandalisms of Mosques in the US since 2001 78% of all KKK Chapters are based in the North There is more crime towards minorities in the North than in the South, but the South gets more press for the fewer events More attacks against Middle Eastern Americans occur in Northern states than in Southern states... ...I could go on, and delve into racism as a whole, but the South really gets a bad rap for racism where it's not due.
