  1. Thank you for saving me a post. And of course BigInteger has a limit... it's just super huge. ;)
  2. This whole situation reminds me of:
  3. You guys should rewrite the ranged max hit calculator in JavaScript so the source and thus the formula is publicly viewable. That way people with mathematical knowledge could be more helpful. There's no reason to keep it secret; that was tried with the combat calculator but ended up being useless since the formula was known elsewhere. I could help if you like.
  4. Someone posted a moon cheese analogy earlier. I would just like to say... There are hungry children in Africa. My solution: we should go to the moon and get cheese from it to feed them. Your argument: the moon is not made of cheese, we can't do that. Well... since the moon isn't made of cheese my idea won't work. But that doesn't mean the problem doesn't still exist. I'd rather you discuss the problem and how we can fix it, rather than discuss my ideas of fixing it. It needs to be fixed - that's all.
  5. No, you're not. I was in the right place at the right time, but some people weren't, and I'm defending them. Someone has to stand up for the little guy.
  6. No, a short is a 16-bit integer, e.g. -32,768 to 32,767 signed or 0 to 65,535 unsigned. They use a byte (signed 8-bit) which can store values from -128 to 127. Java does not have unsigned types (except char, which is an unsigned 16-bit integer for dealing with Unicode characters). Also, the formula for the value range of an n-bit integer is: Signed: -(2^(n-1)) to (2^(n-1))-1 Unsigned: 0 to (2^n)-1 A signed 8-bit integer would be -128 to 127, not -127 to 127. I remember reading about that. That would mean that it's stored in a double. Anyway, to those that are saying that the max XP would be too astronomical: Consider that Jagex hasn't stopped releasing new skills... (2^31)-1 for an int, actually. Also, the exp limit is not 214,748,364.7, because a float can store values up to 3.40282346638528860e+38 (340282346638528860000000000000000000000)... you just lose more and more precision. Also floats are 32-bit, and doubles are 64-bit... so no, it wouldn't mean it's stored in a double.

There's actually an entire book written without any words containing the letter 'e'. Check it out, you can read it online at this website: http://www.spinelessbooks.com/gadsby/ Haven't read it myself, but I heard about it years ago and recently remembered to look it up. Pretty amazing feat... it reads oddly in a few places but otherwise is pretty good.
  8. Exactly what I needed! Thanks! No problem. How's the program working for you? I haven't tried it myself, I found it just for you since I visit that site often and I know it has a lot of good projects. And are you a programmer at all?
  9. Instead of teaching youngsters about the responsibilities both emotionally and morally that come about from entering into a sexual relationship, sex education generally focuses on the physical aspect of sex; STDs, the Reproductive Systems and the act itself. Something that is IMO the most important activity that one can engage in reduced to diagrams on a piece of paper and scare tactics from teachers too scared (or unwilling) to bring matters of faith and/or spirituality into the discussion for fear of the political correctness brigade. In conjunction with this, people of all ages are subjected to a huge amount of sexual images from the media and television. Programs objectifying either gender and trivialising sex (Sex and the City for example) have further bridged the gap of understanding of alot of the younger generations. This has seen a massive increase in recent years and only looks like getting worse. Sexual education needs a more holistic approach, evidence of this is shown in the Netherlands where teen pregnancy rates are one (if not the) lowest in Europe. They have a very liberal attitude towards sex but their sexual education programs are forward thinking and far more engaging than those in England. When people are better informed and have a more mature attitude towards sex, things like this tend to happen less. Statistical evidence for this can easily be found online, you need not take my word for it. Telling someone they shouldn't have sex and then giving them free condoms won't change their attitude towards the act itself. The money spent subsidising all those free condoms is better spent elsewhere. Education. +1. +1 +1 Speaking from a purely scientific point of view, it is fine for humans to have sex as long as they are biologically capable of reproducing. I think the problem is with society. Humans are not seen as mature enough to take care of themselves until 18 (in most countries), but society needs to make the required age for independence much lower. Nature does not make mistakes (don't mention birth defects and such, as that is a result of poor nutrition of the parents or other outside forces such as radiation poisoning and poor living conditions), though I could argue that some things could have been done better (e.g. why don't all living creatures have the incredible regenerative abilities of salamanders?). However, humans are biologically capable of reproduction at 12-14 for a reason. Age requirements are nothing but inventions of governments due to societal corruption which stemmed from the ignorance of human beings because we're too intelligent (double negative) to leave well enough alone, and dumb down our children, causing these problems. Also, can't you guys say a bit more than "+1"? >.< I think that to warrant a post your replies should be a bit longer...
  10. Again, I don't get it? What's "Cool" about those names? It's rare that you see a "cool" username, but 99% of people's usernames are original as long as they don't have numbers at the end of them. Because they're funny. Honestly, "PotatoCoffee" and "Potato Tea"? Come on, comrade, that's CLASSIC. :D
  11. From what I have heard, almost all Dutch people speak English (required to learn it in school?) so there isn't really a need to make a Dutch RuneScape.
  12. Actually I think the world is quite fair. Where do you get that? That'd require quite a few coins, but excellent idea. I believe I remember seeing a group before with this same goal. Would be awesome to see it happen, I wonder what Jagex would do (besides cheer for joy since we'll have solved the problem for them). Rock on. My Guthan's helm looks nicer, has better stats, and when combined with the other 3 pieces, lets me steal your HPz. Also, contrary to what some have said... the main theme of my topic isn't actually tradable rares. I don't mind them as much but they still need to go of course. (And the santa hat... how stupid that a rare item is part of an untradable set >.<) But my main theme is holiday items in general not being available to everyone who wishes. Holidays are about generosity, celebration and fun. Not greed, elitism, money and denial of the right to own items that newer players deserve... because some of them have better attitudes than grumpy high levels who think they are better than everyone because they started earlier (even though they're not). Well, you know what? Bluerose13x... Lightning... old players like that? Well, Zezima and Gertjaars are far better. They are the ones with 99 stats and many other achievements. I have far more respect for my level 15 skiller friend who has 99 prayer and will soon have 99 fishing or Gertjaars, than anyone who has bunny ears but has horrible in-game achievements. If you think you need an item to prove to other people that you are so great because you joined 10 years ago and they've only been around for 3... (even though they're more experienced in the game than you and have better stats and achievements than you) then I think you need to reorder your priorities...
  13. The bigger question is why you don't feel that we should be. Tradable rares do nothing to prove or indicate how long you're playing, nor are they unique - anyone can buy them (with a whole wad of cash). No one can buy my Scythe, no matter how much they want it. Do they have the right to obtain something that they weren't around to get? No, they don't. Just like you don't deserve $100 from someone handing out cash to everyone on the street because you were busy at work, and couldn't get to him in enough time. Sure, being recognized as an RSC player is rather moot nowadays, as even I've lost most consideration into it. That, however, doesn't mean that I'm just going to say "ok" to everyone getting a Scythe or Bunny Ears. It's just an item. There's nothing special about IT, everyone should have a chance to get it. If you were asked to delete one weapon from the game forever, and you had a choice between the scythe and whip, which would you pick? There are far more responses explaining that your idea would ruin the entire RS economy... but I'm curious why you haven't responded to that yet... =P~ Please don't submit one-word posts or one-smiley posts. Also, I believe I did respond to posts stating my idea would cause economic ruin. In fact, I believe I addressed that in my original post. I entertained the notion of all tradeable rares being replaced with gold coins, therefore the only economic changes would stem from the desire for rares, which would become non-existent. And I don't believe those changes would be catastrophic or even large at all.

  15. The next language should be RUSSIAN. :)
  16. I know Cake personally. ;)
  17. I'm getting a lot of responses like this; what I'd like to know is why do you think us having played for a long time makes us "special"? Why should be be "recognized" as RSC players, what exactly does it do for us besides nothing? I really don't understand.
  18. Awesome, thanks. I hate to tell you this now, but what you have labeled as "Instanced Area Karamja", I am pretty sure is the cutscene from the My Arm quest (can't remember the name off the top of my head) - oh, right - My Arm's Big Adventure. Also, between the Gold Mines is the White Knights' Training area from... arrgh I can't remember quest names. Wanted! or one of those... ah, Recruitment Drive, that's it.
  19. Higher than legend? God, maybe? Probably not, but who knows. I think that it is going to be some crappy F2P quest that is, dare I say it, even easier than Cook's Assistant! Oh yeah, I'm bringing those expectations down. Jagex Mods have stated they were "excited for 150".
  20. http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Soul_Wars#Please_expand_the_Rewards_section Pretty good info on the formula there (not yet finished, but seems to be going fairly well). They think it's similar to the Pest Control XP formula, which we already know.
  21. Raising the GP cap is probably fairly simple as I mentioned before. Maybe we should ask Mark Gerhard. : Is he a computer scientist? I think Andrew would likely be the better candidate. ;)
  22. Hey Warriormonkx, just curious when you are going to repost the world map with the labels I added/corrected?
  23. Raising the GP cap is probably fairly simple as I mentioned before.
  24. I'm not saying they should be removed because new players can't afford them, I'm saying they should be removed because they aren't supposed to BE selling for such inflated prices. If you've read my posts in this topic you'll see that I've stated numerous times that I think everyone should be able to achieve the same thing through dedication and hard work. Key words: equal opportunity.
  25. All medicine is poison. It just depends on what you kill first. He tells the truth. I laughed so hard at this. SEE? Someone agrees with me. I'm not crazy.
