First result is snopes telling me it's false.

Now you're getting into the multi-worlds theory, something I've given some thought to. It says that there are billions of universes coexisting inside of each other, but every choice or other little thing can change the history of one and split it in two - like a cell dividing. I believe it states that atoms, being so small, yet so large (you understand, I believe?), allow other atoms to nestle inside of those. First come up with by a guy who was tired of deja vu, I believe. I think he's just saying that the possibility that another planet existing exactly like earth is far more likely than the possibility that there are other lifeforms in the entire universe. And is this the guy you're talking about? FLFdGEOftMo

lolnetscape. When the next version is finished (which I'm actually [finally] going to start working on right now :P ) I'm just going to smack a big "Get Firefox" logo on the download page  Also, why the hell are you using 64-bit linux? There's not even a 64-bit flashplayer, is there? D: (we need a D: emote :| )

It's a firefox addon, it only works for firefox. And no, we/I have no plans to port it to internet explorer, there simply isn't a way to do it that doesn't require installing a bunch of crap on your computer. (And none of that crap has even worked yet :| )

I'm going to second slow internets due to you torrenting. My windows system was (teehee, I don't use it anymore [/linuxsnob]) always really, really slow while I was torrenting, even with speed restrictions and QoS enabled. Just exit out of torrents for a bit and see if your internet speeds up?

Yeah, if you want it to look even remotely respectable/professional, then I would cough up the money and just buy a cheap host.

Hell no, I love JS. The frontend of my forums system is going to be entirely ajax (like gmail kinda style, with an emphasis on scalability) I'm just saying it doesn't need to be used when it doesn't have to be. Laziness != Efficiency is my motto.

Question about dual cores and dual OS's on 1 pc
Errdoth replied to slymongoose's topic in Tech and Computers
It's not going to cause much trouble if the system has the specs to run both at the same time, but it's a bit unpractical, as transferring files typically has to go through a network drive or something similar (you can't access the main partition from inside the virtual one) A bootloader is not a virtual machine, no. The difference is that with a bootloader, you start one operating system at a time (let's say you boot into XP. To get into vista you would have to restart the computer and boot into vista) With a virtualization program, however, you would be able to work in both and have both running at the same time. [hide=The smaller window is vbox running XP, the outer (main) desktop is ubuntu][/hide] -
Question about dual cores and dual OS's on 1 pc
Errdoth replied to slymongoose's topic in Tech and Computers
Vbox. It's absolutely amazing. I've completely ditched my windows partition (well, shrunk it down to about 300gb for high-end games and stuff) after getting it to run XP under linux. (Adobe products were the only thing holding me back from using linux all the time, and now that I have those... :D ) I have linux running on three desktops with XP running fullscreen in the vbox on the fourth, and I can just compiz-cube back and forth between the two :D I still haven't gotten over how awesome this is. Bragging aside, a bootloader is a very small program that runs on a special partition of your hard drive. The computer first boots into the bootloader, and then you tell the bootloader which OS you want to go into, and it loads that one. Each operating system you install on a computer is on its own partition, each partition is a specific block of your hard drive. The OS typically treats each partition as it's own hard drive, and each one has a set amount of space. A virtual machine is a program that virtually creates a partition inside of your active one, and loads up another operating system on it, and the operating system only sees what's in the virtual partition (it might be C:\virtualbox\ on your computer, but the OS on the vbox will treat it like it's its own hard drive) Hardware virtualization (with a program like Xen) is typically used for servers, and it allows you to specifically assign the amount of resources each guest account can use. OS-Level virtualization runs multiple operating systems inside of a bigger operating system, and Hardware virtualization runs multiple operating systems in one computer, on their own and at the same time. Both are unable to interact with the host operating system (OS-Level) or other operating systems that are also running (Hardware) -
As i said above i have that along with errdoth and i really like mine. I am sure errdoth can tell you if he likes his. This is true. It's an excellent mouse. (though I can't play on any other mouse now because the G5 has those little weights that come with it, and mine is really heavy compared to a normal mouse :P )

Well, put it this way: Cons of using JS: Small percentage of people will be unable to use it properly Cons of using target attrib: None No cons are better than even a small one :|
-
Meh, it takes the Rule of Cool a bit too far, but it was still worth the watch. :P
-
What do you have against JS? What about people who turn JS off? (noscript or whatever) target="_blank" will work regardless.
-
meh, works just as well, and it's not JS.

I've never understood that either, though I really am not a fan of proprietary software in general, especially when there are alternatives that do the same thing better (I mean, I still prefer PS to Gimp and DW to bluefish, but it's not like they have _all_ of the functions their proprietary equivalents do) And Joe, I couldn't actually do it just in the query, as mysql won't order them naturally (like if I ordered it by stat is would pull 1, 10, 2, 3....) and the item stats table is separate from the regular items table (don't ask me why, I didn't make it :| ) so I had to pull all of that stats from the stats table, shove them into an array with some of the info from the items table, (it's like $stats[$i]['whatever'] for all of the stats) and then sort the entire array by what the user selected (like $stats[$i (item id)]['attack_stab'] and the entire thing had to be naturally ordered by the value of ['attack stab']. [/bragging] :P

Embedding Youtube videos in Tip.it forums?
Errdoth replied to Slayer_Jesse's topic in Tech and Computers
Ahahahah  You just made the ~4-ish hours left of my day, DV. I thought you were joking at first (I probably should have learned by now :D ) I wonder if pryo handles the report and edits his own post with something like <~Mod Edit> the universe will explode. :twss: oh god, that's the first time I've used that smiley.. -
Graduate high-school, go to a four year, get a degree in aerospace engineering, and then build me some space ships :P
-
Ha, makes me think about an episode of Doctor Who :o :P \ Are you my mummy? (It was supposed to be tf2 pyro style, though, but the colors are wrong :| )
-
My gas mask is more "Are you my mummy?" than "Mmmphm mmphm mmmmph!" but it'll be fine when I spray paint it, methinks, but it still doesn't diminish the awesome of it :P The filter also contains asbestos! Yay! (I glued the seal back on and plugged the bottom of the mask with the putty you use to fill holes in walls) Fuel nozzle comes sometime this week, then I'll have most of my costume ready for showing off :D (If I don't die from asbestosis or the melothesiowhateverthehellitis first)

Update mine please :P (Colors adjusted for added awesome)

Would this computer that im looking at support Crysis?
Errdoth replied to Da Pirates's topic in Tech and Computers
lag free? I have a q6600 (@~3.0ghz), 8gb ram, and an 8800GTS (640MB) and I played it on very high just fine. (Same with Warhead) I wonder if farcry 2 will be the next "Oh but can it run.."? It's supposed to be better optimized, though :/ I'm just sick of people using crysis as a benchmark... -

...yes..on very high, even.. -
How weird..I've never seen heredoc (which is what it's called, apparently :? ) used before. The messiness of it outweighs the pros of using it, IMO (and you can't use your delimiter anywhere in the code D: Meh, I'm perfectly happy with quotes :/ (heh, I typed this message out this morning, and had to leave for school before I could post it, it's been sitting here for ~6 hours :wall: ) (and yes, I do have code for that, but you're going to have to talk to someone about using it though)
-
Ehhh....not really..(you seem to have pulled some syntax out your [wagon] there :P I've never heard of "_HTML_" before (I know there's __FILE__ and __LINE__, but never heard of that) and the ">>>," where'd that come from D: [You also forgot some ;'s and had your { inside of a comment, but now I'm just nitpicking :P]) <?php echo ' '; ?> You could also swap out the preg_replace for an str_replace if you wanted a bit less server strain, and it's probably best to just include the normal css first (as an external file) and then the snippets required to make IE work (if you have two css styles for an element, the browser is going to take the second one) Something that was frustrating me just now: I needed to natural sort a giant multi-dimensional array by an index on the second level (Like $array['key']['total'] is what I wanted it to sort all of $array by) for some tipit stuff...that was a pain.. -.-
