You still get the offensive boost from leeches when maging, so definitely stick to curse. As a bonus, you can SS the td when it's meleeing. The effect is quite interesting.

Punch is only marginally better than kick. In fact, it's only better when your opponent is below your max hit.

It'd be inefficient not to use it for disease prevention though.

My assumption is that greenfingers prevents a tick from causing disease. It's best to start your run half way through a cycle (when the minute hand is on a 2, 6, or 10) and activate greenfingers. This prevents the plants from becoming diseased in the next growth window, which is when they're most likely to become diseased.

In standard gear, the cannon is already accurate. Using a maul or something for accuracy will only decrease your overall dps.
