  1. Stairway to Heaven... I swear I could hear F#3 being hit towards the end.
  2. This is a work in progress artwork for a D&D campaign setting I'm working on. I'm fine with it so far, so all I'm really looking for is ideas on colour scheme. Comments are appreciated also, but if you try and rate it, you die.

    God bless America, huh?
  4. But surely you cannot release an item that ISUNT DRAOGN AND HAVE TEH UBAR PLUSES LOLZZ!!!11 (Good idea. At least it doesn't have a bajillion pluses attached. And nowhere does it mention "Dragon")
  5. Requiem (Guiseppe Verdi) Polovtsian Dances (Alexander Borodin) The Planets (Gustav Holst) Classical's in da house. Someone please shoot me for saying "in da house."
  6. Also historically (Elizabethan-era England, or something along those lines), golems were thought to be magical constructs created by Jews to protect their wealth. Magic = Bad.
  7. We are. Which is why we say rap sucks and isn't music. And besides, the sigs aren't exactly good, either. Slap a pre-cut picture on top of a poorly made background. That is neither artistic nor challenging in any way.
  8. Ahem. I'd hate to be you when the anti-render/premade-photo/someone-else's-work people get here. By the way, rap isn't music.
  9. Ew, green. Paint it as per World Eaters colour scheme and lose the contour lines on the horns. They're far too pronounced. Anyway, Space Marines for the win.
  10. That, and there's an orca.
  11. It isn't too hard, is it? We've got four major entities which would have enough power to warrant their own currency - Al Kharid, Asgarnia, Kandarin and Misthalin. Any independent settlements and such will work with the currencies of the nearest major kingdom or kingdoms. Border settlements such as Port Sarim, Taverley and the Barbarian Village would be more likely to deal with more than one currency at a time. Values of currencies could shift according to what and how much is bought or sold in their respective areas, so Kandarin gold could end up being worth less than Misthalin gold. It all messes up when we try to add lesser denominations of currency to be more accurate with exchange rates. I'd hate to have to deal in silver and copper coins as well, but it'd be brought in eventually if each nation had its own standard currency. I'd like to see how badly the markets screw over, though.
  12. So it's a minigame revolving around a single variable, which is accuracy? Now, really. It's a novel idea and everything, but a wooden lance can punch straight through a suit of plate mail when used by a knight mounted on a decent charger. We're talking about the .50cal of close combat weapons here. It won't be THAT bad of an idea, but I doubt it can be implemented and still be fun.
  13. I stand by what I said five months ago.
  14. Ah yes, this also. Why do you have the hammer and sickle in your avatar and still persist on promoting your individual thoughts?
  15. A gemstone edge would chip or shatter if it strikes armour, since there's pressure from the metal behind it as well as the resistance of whatever it hits. If anything, that'd make it weaker.
  16. My crits will just revolve around what he's wearing. Firstly, the shoulder plates. There should be some indication as to how they attach to the armour, and you could probably get away with making them a little more metallic. Now, the space between the neck and the breastplate. You could colour it brown or anything else to illustrate that he wears some sort of padding between his skin and armour, since plate mail doesn't exactly fit like a jumper. Then, the breasplate itself. You shouldn't emphasize the pectorals here. Keep the breastplate smooth, because it's supposed to deflect blows rather than show the ladies how buff you are. Same goes with the abs if you ever shift the focus down there. This is the key failing of a lot of people, I think. Technique-wise, you could emphasize the curve between the axe haft and blade a little more. It looks rather flat, and you can only see the curve on close inspection.
  17. I think you would've had better results by making the lightning in Photoshop. The terrain's good, but as other people have said, the clouds and lightning leave a lot to be desired.

I thought I'd practise a bit more, so here's what I came up with. Basically, I wanted a decent atmosphere, and I think I came up with that well enough. Something still doesn't seem right, though. Ah well.
  19. Think about how much work goes into those renders, then think about how much work you do on the background. Next consider the amount of space on the sig those renders take up. Add to that the fact that the backgrounds are shoddy pieces of work to begin with, and I've proven my point.
  20. It's hard to give a good or honest rating when 90% of the work isn't even yours. Oh, and lose the quotes. They're terrible.
  21. Way for me to make my entry painfully obvious.

I'm fairly sure the price jacks up for an Australian user, because of exchange rates and stuff. One day, I'll consider getting a job.

It doesn't really bother me as much. As long as I can make a new desktop wallpaper for myself a few times every month, I'm happy enough. I can't see myself paying a buttload of money to register Terragen anytime soon.
  24. Zonorhc replied to Zonorhc's topic in Art and Media
I use the unreg version of Terragen.
  25. I think you can control that a little better in World Machine by slapping a bit of weathering on the terrain. Rainfall should do the job better than fluvial or thermal weathering.
